[Q] can't get NFC tapping to transfer data - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hi there, does anyone able to transfer anything from nfc tapping?. I had followed the guide here
www.sonymobile.com/global-en/suppor...etworks/how-do-i-transfer-a-file-using-nfc-3/
But still unable to do so between my xperia s with my siblings xperia p and acro s

For the moment you can transfer only "web pages, contacts, youtube videos and more" as stated in "Android beam" section below the NFC in Settings. Looks like jellybean will have support for file transfer like photos, music, etc. This is what I understood. To send a contact via NFC to other NFC capable phone, just put one into contacts, other on desktop, put them back to back, once detected they vibrate and the screen with contacts becomes smaller and on top it's written "Touch to beam", touch the screen on the contact and it will be sent. For the moment we cannot send any pictures unfortunately

Mediascape face recognition problem in 2.1

Im having some problems with mediascape,
I went to tag a photo on it, however I noticed, whilst my phonebook has all facebook contacts hidden, the list of contacts you can assign for mediascape photos have not been hidden, and the only way to scroll the list is by swiping your finger constantly until you find the name (with 600+ FB contacts, thats not easy).
Once I got alllll the way down to S, I went to click on the name, and it did nothing. I tried again, and nothing. tried a different name, nothing. tried cancel, nothing. The only way I could do anything was by pressing the back button.
I tried with another contact, without any scrolling, and the same issue occurs. Has anyone else encountered this? it's really annoying as I've been using face recognition since I got the phone....
I've also just noticed if I go into my pics and then scroll on the bottom to the end to the friends tab, it has assigned 10 of my random facebook friends random pictures from my album as pictures of them...... :s
In the beginning I experienced the same problem as OP. I think this might be lag due to face recognition being done on all my images (lots of them). After some time, nametagging is smooth.
Two major problems:
1. The need to scroll through absolutely all names, from all contact lists! Couldn't we get an alphabet bar as in the phonebook?
2. When displaying nametagged photos, some tags are hidden behind other tags. Some show up when I rotate the phone (photo scales up/down). Others do not appear at all. Except that those pictures are shown in the Friends category... Some tags are incorrect, and I have no way of deleting/changing them!

Gallery and Forwarding

Am I being stupid or is there no way to forward a picture from the gallery via email?
I seem to be able to do this on 2 other android devices.
I get a share by Mail option (as well as gmail) by long pressing a specific pic and choosing share...
Also get the option using the share button, second from the left on the bottom after navigating to an album. It will first ask you a share method, then which picture(s) you wish to share.
WiFi Flyer, P512, fw 1.36.1540.32
Can you send MMS pics with the carrier enabled flyer? I have seen someone in the messaging app which looks just like the one on the EVO 3D/Sensation and there seems to be an attachment tab.
.My sprint view has an attachment tag in the text that lets you send pics or video. Actually a list of about six or seven things drop down for you to attach via your message. Can't remember them all off hand.

Undeletable messages in Messaging + missing Skype contacts in phonebook

Here's an odd question about two things (prompted by seeing a thread about corrupt images on the Xperia S).
Firstly, ever since copying over data from my review Xperia S to the Xperia S I actually bought (using MyBackup Pro), I've had two messages in the Messages app called 'Draft' which have no text and no recipient.
What's more, no matter what I do I cannot delete them. Well, I can try - but they remain there. Any advice on how to delete them without a complete reset?
The second issue is that the phone was set to sync my Skype contacts but when I went to call a Skype contact with the ordinary phone app (not wanting to use Skype to dial), I couldn't find the contact. When looking through, he wasn't there.
So I copied down the number from Skype (no cut and paste from contacts there unfortunately) and manually added the contact. Then when I called him, I saw the photo of the person on the screen so clearly the contact WAS already in my phonebook somewhere, along with the mobile number!
When I later looked on www.google.com/contacts it turned out that I had this contact in the phonebook THREE times (including the manually entered data). After merging and resyncing, all of the data showed up in one entry. As far as I can see, there's no way to filter out Skype contacts (just contacts without a phone number, which these mostly have).
I hope that these issues will be fixed come ICS, but has anyone else had similar problems? I really don't want to reset the phone to clear out any corrupt data, and the phone isn't rooted.

[Q] Android ICS incoming call screen changability

Under ICS the incoming caller's contact photo is obstructed by the answer-options in the bottom half of the screen, so that the picture is virtually impossible to see below the upper one third or so of the image.
Is there any way to easily change this so that the contact photo is completely separate and unobstructed? Either the way it was under Gingerbread, or some other better way?
I've seen and tried plenty of incoming/callerID apps on the market, but they all require one to re-specify new, larger full screen/HD contact images to associate with callers. I don't want to do this for hundreds of existing contacts, and I don't want to have to sync with some external social network to get new photos. I still want to use the original (square shaped) contact photos I already have in the default/stock/system contact database, and have them fully visible and unobstructed on the incoming call screen.
Is there any app or hack that will enable this? Thanks...

Gear S (Standalone) - Add contact

Hi all
Just got the Gear S, do not own a Samsung Phone, using it standalone (for now).
Anyone figured out how to add contacts to the watch?
I select "Contacts" from the menu. All that is happening is the spinning animation with the text "Syncing contacts". I can't add a contact from the message app or the call log either.
I dont want to go back to memorize numbers again.
edit1: tried to add some contacts to SIM card. Not picked up by the watch.
edit2: added some contacts to SIM card. They do appare on incoming calls, and appares in phone application when searching in the dialer.
You can't. Majority of the functions of this watch requires a Samsung phone. The only thing you can do is make or receive calls, send or receive SMS. That's about it. Some built-in apps may work (weather, HERE) to certain extent. Most apps won't without a phone.

Yepp, unpaired and alone this thing is dumber than a dumbphone. Not a problem for me actualy, I have a dual sim phone, so I just dump all the contacts to the sim card. I can see who's calling me and search my name in the dialer. The "contact" homescreen does not work, but that is fine by me.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking to run the gear s as stand alone and getting my contacts to appear was the main issue holding me back. I was happy to discover the trick about activating it without a Samsung phone and your contact trick might be all I need.
I carry two phones - work and private. My private phone is a phablet that I love (Nokia 1520) which I do all my emailing and browsing on. My work phone is just for calls and sms so the smaller the better (carrying two phones is a pain especially one being a phablet), but I need my contacts to sync via my exchange account so I use a small smartphone (Nokia 800). I'm hoping I can go Nokia 1520 and gear s stand alone using the tricks posted here.
The gear s seems like a perfect solution - I actually need the two phone numbers (and, yes I have thought about a dual sim phone but there are issues with that scenario). Although, I am suspecting that as much as I love my 1520 I might end up getting a Note 4 to make it all more convenient, but I just hate the thought of android, sorry.
My SIM contacts automatically shown in Gear. But i want to add new contacts. Is that not possible?

I think Samsung may have out-of-the-box disabled that feature simply for that reason-- to encourage users to have to use it with a phone. However, on the Tizen Developer website they list the source code for a simple contact manager (ah! New user, can't post links yet... just Google the Tizen SDK) that is able to interface the contacts API. This should be pretty simple/straight forward to compile and implement for the watch with the SDK.
I haven't quite made a decision about whether to purchase the S, or if I had more time at the moment, I'd do it. However, my point being the contact restriction I believe is only concerned with the built in contact app... I see no reason why another app should not be able to access it and thus get around the apparent limitation.

Adding contacts to your Gear S2
You can add contacts. I just did it. You have to log into your online account via your cell phone provider.
