[Q] Lumia 900 to Titan? - HTC Titan

I have been lurking on this board for a while now to get some info - and let me say, there is an abundance of it! Anyways, I currently have a Nokia Lumia 900 I have been using for several months, and love it, but I would like the ability to get internet sharing without paying $50 per month for AT&T's 5GB plan. Basically, I have their $30 plan for 3GB, and that is plenty of data for me since I'm on wifi a good portion of the time, it just doesn't allow you to use the internet sharing feature without that $50 plan.
Anyways, my dad also upgraded to the Lumia 900, coming from his HTC Titan. He was having the issue of the disappearing keyboard, and with replies from his Exchange 2003 being truncated. Both of those were fixed with an update, which I learned how to do manually from this board, but after he had upgraded already - so the phone is just collecting dust at this point.
I guess my question is this, given the fact it looks like I can use one of the custom rom's to enable internet sharing on the Titan, but not the Lumia 900 - do you guys think I would be giving up anything significant in going from the Lumia 900 to the Titan I with a custom ROM? It looks like they even have ROMs that enable the Nokia specific features, and now with 7.8 OS. I literally have like 40 tabs open in my browser right now with different threads from XDA, its slightly overwhelming to say the least. Just wondering what the general consensus is around here on the two devices. To me, spec-wise, they seem pretty similar.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry.
Let me explain. The HTC Titan has an unlocked bootloader. The Nokia Lumia 900 doens't (yet) has that. An unlocked bootloader means pretty much that you can flash custom roms. But you can't.

Thanks for your response. I do understand that aspect, I guess my question is more do you think hardware-wise I am giving up anything significant enough to warrant not switching from the Lumia 900 to the Titan in order to have the ability to get custom ROMs. I do like the feel of the Lumia more, it seems like a more solid device, but if I can get that internet sharing to work with the Titan on AT&T without the $50 plan, I think I can sacrifice a little in aesthetics. Kind of just wanted to get the communities advice here, particularly if anyone has used both devices - which one they would choose - a stock Lumia 900 or a Titan with a custom ROM.

Well as i looked here on forum you have about 60% chance of doing the flashing of custom ROMS because a lot people have problems with doing SPL because there is a lot of AT&T Titans all over world, I live here in Serbia and still had the "luck" to run on the AT&T version...

The biggest one is that AT&T's Lumia 900 has LTE. Titan does not have LTE.
Titan's camera is better than Lumia's in terms of picture quality and 'extras' like panorama support. I can never get Lumia's panorama to work as nicely as Titan's. However Lumia has support for wide-screen photos, which Titan lacks.
You would also be giving up Nokia's software suite, some of which has no good or no free equivalent (Drive, Transit, Maps).

Since the new 7.8 ROMs available for the Titan there is not much you will be missing from the Lumia 900, I have both phones and have a new found love for my Titan since putting a custom 7.8 rom on it, Don't get me wrong the Lumia is a fantastic phone and will be even better with the 7.8 update but for now the Titan shines just that little bit brighter having the custom tiles and backgrounds and green fonts lol, If I were being super picky I could say I miss the pure black Amoled screen of the Lumia but I wont

Thanks for the responses, much appreciated! As far as lack of LTE on the Titan, I am not overly concerned with that as the city I live in currently doesn't have LTE available with AT&T, and the cities I have been to that did have it, I honestly didn't notice all that much of a difference in speed, however the battery seemed to drain significantly faster. I don't surf the web a ton on the device itself, which is probably why I didn't notice the difference.
So I have decided I am going to go ahead and give the Titan a try - just ordered the parts to make my y-cable on Amazon. AndyFZ1S - which 7.8 ROM are you using on your Titan. I see there are several to choose from, but don't know what would work best for me. I guess my biggest 'wants' would be to have the Nokia extras available on the Titan, to have Internet Sharing available on AT&T without the 5GB plan, and to have it as stable as possible. Since its technically my business phone, I can't have it randomly rebooting, locking up, dropping calls frequently, etc - so I want it as close to my Lumia as far as stability as possible. To take it even a step further, I really don't even need 7.8 yet, even 7.5 would be fine so long as I have the Nokia extras and internet sharing. At this point, I have no interest in homebrew apps, etc. Given that, which ROM might you guys recommend for me?

Given your needs I recommend you stick with a Lumia, to avoid stealing Nokia's software.

Hi sikko10, sorry for late reply, Been working with no time for play lol,
Currently using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692150

Decisions...decisions. Well, I may mess around with this stuff once the supplies for the y-cable arrives. I suppose I always have the Nokia to fall back on if things don't work with the Titan. From what I can tell, the 7.8 builds are not the final code, correct? Its very possible I will just wait to do any of this until that comes out, because I don't have the time to constantly be tinkering with the phone - as much as I wish I did. If $%#^ AT&T would let you actually use the data you are paying for however you wish (eg. let us actually use internet sharing regardless of the plan you are on) I likely wouldn't deal with any of this nonsense. The way I see it, if I am paying $30 a month for 3GB of data, I should be able to use that whether it be on the phone itself, or via my laptop/tablet through my phone. But I digress...
Thanks for everyone's input, i'll keep you posted on how it goes.

htc tytn official windows mobile 6.1

Hello,
My htc tytn works very slow and with errors with the cooked versions.
I am new to wondows mobile.
How do I get the latest official windows mobile without all the cooked applications?
There is no "Official" WM6.1. Its been ported from later HTC models. HTC stopped supporting the Hermes about 6 months or more ago and only ever officially made WM06 for it.
You will need to stay with cooked roms to keep it but you should look for the "naked" roms - OS only, no 3rd party apps.
Cheers...
Popular recommends?
What are some of the more popular "naked" rom/s?
Dvha79_ddt is one of the best, fast and very stable rom.

Stability?...
Thank you, FileFixer for link.
how "stable" is "stable"? I mean, i typically soft-reset two or three times a day with official HTC wm6 release. ROM upgrades average about the same? worse? better? Is it the same kind of stability issues i already have? freezes? screen display gets garbled?
2 or 3 times a day thats so inconsiderate of these people to make you pull the stylus out and press the reset button, or just click the screen twice lol.
Its part of life when you have a ppc, i must reset mine 6-8 times a day but its not a big problem. Install a naked rom and dont install any apps and see how it flys along
Blame the app makers not the rom cookers or htc to that mind,

Thas the HTC realise a version of wm6.1 for this device? sorry i`m not so familliar with this device cuz i have it just from almost 3days so i have a lot of things to learn
PS: I have the official wm6 for HTC Tytn is there a ROM more faster then this?(one without prb with wi-fi?)
Profy_X, refer to post #2...
I know what you mean. . .
I know what you mean about blaming the apps and htc. Certain apps would constantly make my phone crash and I've since uninstalled. One of the biggest offenders I've found was WisBar. Made my phone go crazy. Anyone else out there experience that? Or other apps that fit the description?
However, 6-8 resets is an awful lot. The only reason I want to upgrade to 6.1 is for the threaded tracking SMS. Are there any apps out there that offer that before i take the plunge and use a cooked ROM?
I also wouldn't mind getting rid of all that bloatware in at&t's ROM has that's hogging my internal memory.
I think you'll find that using a cooked rom will in fact speed up your phone as the bloatware uses a large amount of ram. I personally like the BS roms as most chefs add what is needed anyway. I like to keep some storage space on my Hermes and using the BS roms does that.
With the NBS roms I've used I can't put the core apps I like on.
However, if you want to keep the rom you've got, there isa cab file for threaded sms. Do a search and you should find it...
Cheers...
Wm 6.1 for AT&T
Have an 8525 & would like to put WM 6.1 on it. What's the best ROM for this version of the Hermes for speed & stability?
At the moment I'm liking PDACorner V27. Seems pretty stable and I've thrown a few things at it that HRed the other roms I've tried. I also like the Halloween rom V10 but I tend to find the fonts are TINY.... Even when I alter the font to the largest.
The truth is, each rom is a personal choice and what is good for me may not be for you. This is all personal preference....
Cheers...
Just guessing
Hi folks, have anybody tried to put TYTN II's WM6.1 Rom into a Hermes before?, I'm wondering if this could work but I'm afraid of fry my phone.
Thanks,
Freddy.

rfreddy, You need to research....
Wrong rom= BRICK... Kaiser rom (Tytn II) is not compatible with a Hermes UNLESS its ported... Do some research, port it yourself or maybe ask the chef if he might might port it across (don't hold your breath though)...

You can use nuefonts to easily put it back to the tahoma font. I haven't cared for any of the calibri fonts, especially if you use landscape mode very much, then it looks like crap!

Thunderbolt vs iphone....whats your opinion?

I had android with a droidX about a year back and original loved the platform, but I switched out for an Iphone 4 for the apps. Now that most of the apps I use everyday are ported over to android, i think i might pick up a thunderbolt on the cheap to try out android again. If i like it, i'll pick up a galaxy nexus when my contract runs up , if not , i'll bank my upgrade and wait for the iphone 5.
What would you do. Do you think android has changed in the pass year and is worth making a trip back for? I really like the way iphone can handle ms exchange. I remember having such a hassle with touchdown last time around.

I think android has come a very long way in the past year, and will only get better. Even f you don't like the thunderbolt, you'd love he galaxy nexus. From the videos I've seen of it... There are no words to describe it lol. Besides, most any app you could want that the iPhone has, android probably has it, or maybe even something better these days.

bringing up the thunderbolt and iphone is like comparing 2 different sports teams and you know how loyal & crazy fans can get.
seriously though, both are solid OS' and offer their own way of functioning. Before I had an android phone I was on windows mobile up till I got my HD2. I had ipod touches on the side and thought they were cool, but it wasn't until I got my first android(a mytouch slide) rhat I decided that I'm sticking with android and that's that. it was kind of weird adjusting to it at first but once you realize the potential & support of the android system/community how can you go with anything else? I wouldn't mind having an ipod touch again for music purposes, but I can't see myself getting an iphone.
that and iphone is still 3G & supposedly apple doesn't like where 4G is right now and says they probably wont incorporate 4G into the iphone 5 either.
p.s. siri isn't all that great either.
I have an iPhone 4 in one pocket and Thunderbolt in the other pocket. I do that so I can keep my personal phone and work stuff seperate. Is be glad to answer the specific questions you have. I like both of them, they each have their strong points. The iPhone 4 and iOS runs quite smooth, hardly ever does anything similar to a force close and doesn't ever freeze up, stuff like that. But with Android you have control over every feature and its settings. Phone customization options are endless. I would say that if you like to tinker and be able to dig around and do anything you want to your phone, Android fits that need perfect. If you want a smooth, great running OS without ever tweaking a thing, and reliability, stick with the iPhone.
Hardware wise, screen size is a big deal to some people. Some like the real estate, but then again others don't like how big it is to carry/hold. The iphone has better fit and finish I think, small things like button feel after a few months of use are much better on the iPhone. But they have the advantage of only having one model to focus on for things like this. Android makers have so many different options available so they don't get to spend as much time/resources on a single phone.
Also, the ability to flash roms and make so many UI tweaks on Android allows you to turn your phone into something completely different any time you want.
Last week I was bored and wanted to mix things up, so i switched over from sense 3.0 to sense 3.5. I'm someone who likes to tinker. I drag race, build hot rods and show trucks, and like to fix broken stuff. The ability to change up the interface totally is a wonderful option, and personally a big "pro" for me.
Let me know what else I can answer for you.

Like what was already said before. The galaxy nexus is an amazing device. Android as an OS is an absolute powerhouse. Iphones are always going to be behind the curve from this point on.

I guess its also important for you to tell us what apps do you use most often on iOS and we can offer examples of what's available on Android, if anything to equivalate them. Since that seems to have been the main reason you originally switched.
From what I understand, if games are your primary goal, the iOS still has a good advantage, but the screen is significantly smaller. For just about everything else, it seems Android either is on par or exceeds iOS alternatives.

And yes - I imagine that going from teh Thunderbolt to the Nexus will be comparable from going from the Aveo to the Corvette.
I mean they are both running Chevy - but one is going to be a complete different experience than the other.
that's a stylin' Aveo. you got me sold sir! that'd be some fun donut'ing in the dirt.

HAHA I would get the Aveo just to run the wheels off of it like it were a go-cart. That reminds me of when I was young and had a Chevette... I wore the emergency brake out on that little car. haha

CharliesTheMan is correct in his observation.
My wife has the iPhone 4S and I have a Thunderbolt and Droid Charge. The 4S is perfect for what my wife wants. It doesn't have a lot to be confusing and it just works without problem. The phone doesn't get in the way of doing what you want to do; it is just smooth and quickly works without any hesitation.
The Thunderbolt and Charge on the other-hand are customized and overclocked how I like it. I am a 'tinkerer' too. I've got my TB running Synergy ROM with the Sense 3.5 and it is simply awesome. Sure, I have an occasional hickup with an app or ROM sometimes but I have the knowledge to fix the problem and go on; not everyone wants a phone like that, including my wife.
So, the choice really isn't to get an iPhone 4S or an Android phone but the choice is what type of user are you? Do you like to have options or simplicity? But then again, I guess you can Jailbreak the iPhone for a change. LOL
My wife wanted a white iphone 4 when we switched to verizon. She had it for 2 days before we exchanged it for a thunderbolt.
Internet browsing was faster on the thunderbolt in full site comparisons. My wife also didn't like dealing with itunes for all music and videos.
Find one for cheap and play around. Only problem is if you go back and forth from the iphone to the Bolt, you will probably have to get a new sim everytime you switch to the Bolt.

Would you rather, ATT or Int'l?

We have great devs and roms here and all, but I was wondering, given the opportunity to have either, which would you guys have?

I would rather have the international version even though I'm not a big fan of the button layout on it. One thing to consider is the higher resale value of it.
Well if I would of had to pay full retail for my i777, I would have an i9100 instead. I would rather have the i9100 myself, however, for paying $ 199.99 for my i777 coming from a broken captivate, it was nice to at least get a sgs2 with out having to pay $ 600 for.
HTH,
Charlie
International. . . I'd love to have a button
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
International (even though i do not like the button) because it gets better dev support (ICS for example). ICS is easier to develop for the i9100 because it gets updated more and source code related things, etc. Sound will be a ***** for our phone because of a couple things being changed. (this is what I'm getting from all of these posts feel free to correct me if I am horribly wrong)
If I had the money, I would have gone with the International S2. ^^ I like the design of International Version better, but for convenience's sake I got the AT&T version.
Yep same here. Seems we all think the same thing

I prefer the att version, I hate that button.
I wish they made an android with slide up keyboard. Or even a Nokia n95 dual slide. Some kind of non generic design
I prefer to have a button for contextual search. And as annoying as it is, I'd trade the loss of FM radio for NFC support.
Primary downside is fewer ROM/Kernel choices. Primary upside is my phone only cost $200.
At&t button looks cheap and iphoneish

I love my ATT version very much, but I think I like the feel of the International version a bit more. It's nice to have a physical button, as well as the greater dev support.
I had bell galaxy s2 (international) but it got stolen so I bought an unlocked AT&T one because it's almost $200 chb~eaper. I am very unimpressed, the international version has more dev support, the i9100 is noticbly thiner by like 2 mm even more important with a phone this big. I used the fm radio humders times more then i will probably use nfc. EVEN THE CUSTOM ROMS HAVE ATT&T CRAPWARE BURRIED DEEP IN THE INSIDES OF THE OS THE the bell version has stock samasung + only a few user removable apks. And if you want to enable anything taken out by the carrier all you have to do is delete a file.
The $200 is save is worth all the minor annoynces but i wouldnt do it again

2 mm is noticeable?
I have thought about buying the international version and then selling the phone I have now to recoup the difference.
Ill probably just keep this though. I got most of the bloat off the phone.
Man, a ton of people say they like the International, even though this was posted in the AT&T section...
I think I might try to get one instead of the AT&T phone, if I can anyway...
Does the international work on the AT&T network?

Yup works fine.
I have both. (I damaged my international version and got an ATT version to replace it.)
My observations:
- i really like the home button on the international, (but hated the way the home button was hardcoded to the old version of Vlingo). I like to way removed the double tap for Vlingo on the ATT version.
- I get somewhat better voice quality with the ATT version. (the voice quality on the international may have gotten worse after installed a custom kernal, I'm not sure. But ATT version has less static incoming and clearer louder sound outgoing.
- The ATT version has somewhat better data speed (may be due to new sim card I got with ATT version).
Well I think I might have to keep my eyes out for an Intl version =P
I'll probably be very passive about it, just cause its so nice here!
Also, lol @ no love for sprint version

2mm would be noticeable... EXCEPT the difference isn't 2mm. The i9100 is 8.5mm thick whereas the i777 8.9mm. Is 0.5mm noticeable? Highly doubtful.
Another thing that the i9100 doesn't have is the NFC feature. The ICS is supposed to bring a bunch of NFC-enabled apps, and that would be a value-add for the i777.

What will keep you from buying the LG G4?

1) No removable battery
2) No microSD
Things that would make me very unhappy:
1) If the phone gets any taller or wider
2) If it stops supporting Qi
3) if it ditches the curved back
Things that would make me very happy:
1) They shrink the bezels even more
2) Verizon doesn't logo it up
3) They make an iPhone quality fingerprint scanner on the back power button that will work while knock code is still on too
4) Ditch the LG skin
5) More powerful IR blaster
6) 1080p resolution if it means better battery life versus 1440p
Oh my. Yes

Well, considering I just upgrade to the G3 in December, not having an upgrade for two more years pretty much prevents me from upgrading to the G4! LOL!

I'm in the same boat. Got my G3 in August so I'm stuck with that for a while.
I don't see how people can justify buying the next new iPhone, Galaxy S or LG's flagships every year.
I don't feel like the jump from the G3 to the G4 is going to be enough to get me to upgrade.
The HTC One M9 will keep me from buying the G4.
My 2 year contract.
Satisfaction with my current phones.

Buy new device, sell old one on eBay for small loss; it amounts to renting a phone for $100 a year.
My crack habit. Sorry OP!
Every phone up until the my g3 had a custom recovery available thanks to developers figuring out how to by pass the bootloader or unlock it before I bought it. Whereas the G3 wasn't for about the 1st month I owned it and it drove me nuts because I am a flash aholic so I can't wait to see what the G4 is like, but this time I'm going to wait until the or it gets a custom recovery!
Unless it had a minimum of 64 GB of internal storage, there's no way I'd get any smartphone without a MicroSD slot.
I can't think of anything they could add so maybe working on size a little big not sure thats possible though. They can make the screen go brighter that seems to be one of the bigger complaints with the g3. I really have been lucky with not having to many issues. last year I jumped through the big 3 phones and ended up with g3 but I dont see a reason to try the other 2 as of right now.
While on the subject of possible weakness in the G3, my two main although relatively minor complaints and room for improvement are:
1. The notification LED is not noticeable unless I'm looking directly at it. For comparison, although the Galaxy S2's was too big and cartoony, the Galaxy S3's was perfect. I could see it out of the corner of my eye but it wasn't obnoxious. The problem might not be the size on the G3, it might be how deep inside the LED is, limiting it's visibility at anything but near direct angles.
2. Laying on it's back on my work desk or elsewhere, I never hear or feel the vibration, which I have set for all notifications. I theorize that the curved back, which I like very much, keeps the vibration from being noticeable due to the very small area of contact between the back of the phone and the desk surface. I don't want to keep it flipped over, I prefer it on it's back, I don't want to have it flipped over AND turn on the camera flash notifications, and from what I've seen without modification, the screen lighting up temporarily for notifications isn't that noticeable either.
The g2 had bad sound quality. The g3 has even worse sound quality.

I dunno. I am so disappointed with the Nexus 6 launch. Its still nearly impossible to get this phone and its still pretty pricey. I am disappointed that Verizon never formally launched it.
If the LG G4 has 4gbs of ram, I would without a doubt sell my g3 and get the g4.
But its looking like the galaxy s6 and htc one m9 both only have 3gbs of ram.
Why do I want more? To make it future proof. My lg g3 performs blazingly fast with Illusion 5.5 5.0.2 based rom. No major issues.
I would say that if motorola and lenovo release a padfone like device I would jump on that. Or ya know, if the Droid Turbo finally gets root... ha ha.
Do we have any concrete info on the G4?
I Got my G3 back in September, its a champ. I see no reason to upgrade right away.
With Bump out, the ability to run custom kernel/ROM, on 5.0 btw, so again, no reason to update. I love my phone.
I didn't think I would be here saying that coming from the Nexus 5. The root and rom method is so seamless and the ROMs so stable, running BlissPOP 2-20 here.
I would like a more premium feel to the device, but o'well. I can run anything I want on this thing, no problem.
...but do we have any info other then the couple concept renders, that are confirmed?
Ugh. It's getting bigger. But just barely. I so wish they would have wen the other way size wise.

Selling this thing on Ebay wouldn't even give me enough to buy out of my contract lol, let alone buy the new one lol
It's definitely be closer to $200 for me personally by my math, and I'm perfectly happy with my G3. Any device without a removable battery, a micro SD slot, and root and bootloader unlock is a device you can count me out of haha To each their own

Verizon LG G3 's are going for $315 ($400 mint) on swappa. Assuming G4 is $600, that's $285 you would pay for a new one. I would gladly pay an extra $85 to stay out of a contract (especially since I'm still on an unlimited data plan).

wear 24 boosting development

Hello there I'm an avid android user rooting and roms. I wanted to ask everyone about how we can grow a community for verizon wewr 24 smart watch. Given the price $80 I think it's the best bang for the bucks as every other watch is north of 200. Wanted to know how I could make that happen. Coz with custom rom unlocked bootloader this thing could be a beast !!
Well I bought one, and I can second the fact that I would be interested in using a custom rom. However what you need is someone who can actually get into the nuts and bolts, to buy one and feel like if they put time into doing that work, that there would be a big enough audience that it would be worth it. There has to be at least a decent sized audience, then you might get a second wave of buys from this community if people see progress. So I think step one, show that an audience of users that want a custom rom on the Wear24 exists.
I also have some interest. I'd be willing to help, but I'm not really sure where to start. I know that with phones Verizon has locked the bootloader and made it tough to get root. I wonder if that is the case with the watch also.
I'm also super interested, mainly to enable NFC (for Android Pay, which seems to be a problem for rooted phones) and LTE on other networks. I'm still waiting on mine to arrive in the UK, it's currently stuck at ebay's Global Shipping Center for more than 4 days. I don't know the first thing about developing a root or custom rom, but I'll try to learn.
Hey guys,
I am also interested in development for this watch, I've kept it on wear v1.5 for now, since I enjoy using it for the mic from time to time, and have disabled cellular and the sim, and am getting around 3 days of consistent battery life with light use, always on screen, and motion wake. Some issues I am having - besides the annoyingly persistent update available notification, is that phone calls from my contacts come in on the watch, but unknown calls don't notify me. Additionally, using ok google to text works but the watch still displays an error and to do it on the phone.
Adb seems to require a rooted watch to disable the vzn messages+ or the update notification - as it kept giving me errors, but maybe someone else can figure that out. I also tried the command oem unlock with no luck, as I couldn't get the watch to accept adb commands in recovery.
My recovery mode lists the watch as dorado v1.21.
Any suggestions/advice?
I also just purchased one. They are now on sale for 50$. I would be willing to toss an additional 50$ to the first developer that could get a clean running android wear port running. And enable the NFC. I am not a verizon customer, nor do i have any intention of ever activation the LTE on a watch.
I too jumped on the $50 price tag in hopes of root and custom ROM at some point in the near future. Would be cool to make this thing as good as it could be instead of the gutted version Verizon tried to sell us.
Same here , got one for $50 today. hoping to find port a clean 2.0 rom. Willing to help.
Got one for $50 today as well.
Perhaps we find a developer and buy them a watch
Another new guy here as of my order today.
Definitely interested in a clean wear 2.0 ROM, and happy to test - watch was an impulse buy due to price, so willing to risk bricks.
Same here guys. Been on the fence for months about buying a smartwatch. I wanted one like Fossil or Movado (super pricey), but in no way could justify the pricing, especially with missing features like Android Pay and not even having Wear 3.0.
At $50, I don't care about missing features now!
Where can I find the 2.7 update or any custom wear rom?
I had one of these watches when they first launched. I returned it because of the vzw crap they put on it. I don't like Verizon messages app and it really wants you to use it. I would buy one again and also throw in $50 to anyone willing to get root and work a custom ROM for it. I have rooted all of my previous Android phones before the pixel XL and would love to root this watch to get rid of vzw apps and just run what I want with better functionality! If anyone is interested please let us know!
Also picked up the $50 watch and would love to have a clean watch as well. NFC payment would be a plus but mostly want to get all the junk off this watch.
Has anyone had any success with contacting verizon to get them to release the GPL source code ?
I think that would be the best place to start.
Find some contact info. and start bombarding them en mass with requests.

Isn't this just a white-label device? If so, would we target Verizon for GPL or the actual manufacturer, Quanta Computer?
id increase the bounty, $25 from me to a dev who can get NFC working and extra LTE band support
Found this interesting. In a verizon promo video it has the android pay app on the watch. I won't get mine until next week. Is this app on there but doesn't work?

I started setting up a gofundme... But lost interest, to much work to set one up. I thing a 15-20$ buy in would raise quite a bit of money for a developer

I don't care about LTE, but I'm in for $20 for NFC functional with Android pay.
