[Q] Droid Razr XT912(CDMA) On GSM? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so i have a Razr Xt912, i have it rooted and running safestrap. Ive been looking around since ive seen awhile back on the portal it can be used with GSM carriers. But the more i look into it the more convoluted it gets. So is it really possible to get it to work on GSM like AT&T and T-Mobile? and if so can some one please give me links since ive searched and searched but nothing is making sense to me for once.

[Q] Droid Razr on ATT

Hello:
I should be getting a Droid Razr (Verizon) tommorow. I plan on using it on ATT. I saw some hacks that enable the U.S GSM band, including the Radiocomm hack. Could anyone shed some light on what steps I should take? Im looking forward to it and Ive seen that people had it working on U.S gsm. Also can you downgrade from ICS to GB?? Thank you to whoever helps me and cheers if it works!
As far as downgrading no its impossible due to the locked boot loader.

Never used the radiocomm so I don't know. But once you're on official ICS you're stuck on it.

At the present time there is no current way to get the Verizon XT912 variant working on US GSM. There are a few genius' out there working on a NON-HLOS fix possibly by using the S3 files or there may be a NON-HLOS.bin usable when JellyBean finally hits the XT910 and XT912. From all of the research I've done, this is the only current method we have.

If you want a RAZR for AT&T you want to get the XT910. Check out eBay and/or www.mobilecityonline.com (That's where I got mine) The XT910 is only HSPA, but still plenty fast; plus the battery life is very good. I have an Atrix HD too, but I keep swapping back to the RAZR for the "FREE Mobile Hotspot" no tethering plan required due to the unbranded OS(ICS 4.0.4) Can't wait to get Jelly Bean!!!!

Thanks..but expensive hah. I guess i'll look into buying a Droid Bionic on craigslist. Does that work?? I saw a bunch of people got it to work+theres a youtube video about it. Will it work if its already been OTA updated to ICS??
Maybe someone with more expertise will reply, but I'm pretty sure IF you do get a Verizon "World" phone as they call them to work on AT&T, I don't think you will get more than EDGE speeds for data cause I don't think they have AT&T's 3G/4G bands. Anyway, good luck with your search.
As far as the Bionic goes, I've known a few people to rock that, unfortunately all of them had the same issues with dropped calls, random reboots, and data loss. If you have one lying around, why not. But I would strongly recommend against spending your money on one (or time for that matter) with the sole purpose of taskin it on GSM. Patience is key as the GSM fix is being resolved. We have many people including myself taking many various approaches to the solution. Shouldn't be long. I'm really hoping whatever the fix found can be applied to the D4. I hooked my Mom up with my D3 tweaked to Straight Talk last year and now have a D4 kicking around collecting dust until I can set her up with it. So I'd be really happy if the fix were able to be ported *hint, hint, wink, wink>Dev's
I been trying to unlock my xt912 but no luck yet i was unable to find unlock code. But if u dial #073887* its asks u for network unlock code..

I have searched and searched and havent been able to find a clear answer for this; i have a friends phone and just rooted it and now he's looking to flash the phone to work on virgin mobile or straight talk, and i cant find out if 1) it can be done or 2) how to do it. Any info would be great, and if i have missed something here within XDA i appologize i have spent four days looking through all the threads so towards the end i may have missed something. Thanks again for any and all help with this.

from what i understand and only american users can correct me on this is that the version xt912 offered by verizon is blocked to work on any other carriers in the US. this i have heard and read over and over again but still can be wrong. you should try to buy a xt910 and it should work on any carrier in US as long as the radios and bands match.
the xt 912 will only work on verizon. because verizon blocks it i guess.
i would suggest also going to droidrzr.com they have awesome support for xt912 OG and MAXX version and live chat support as well.
good luck

This is probably a really stupid question about the DNA

Can i flash GSM roms onto the Verizon DNA? im thinking of buying one not to use on Verizon, only to use GSM, id love to use the new GPe rom and i see its fine with GSM, so was just wondering, i know its more than likely a stupid Q, but ive tried searching and cant find an answer, and ive never used a Verizon phone as a gsm unit on another network

Thank you very much
The DNA is a global phone, so it has both CDMA and GSM radios. The hardware isn't the question. Most Sense ROMs are globally compatible, and AOSP ROMs require the GSM patch found in the CM10.1 thread. You can also run Sense 5 Android 4.2. Us VZW users can't.
So yes, it will work just fine.

Questions about the DNA and Pageplus

Hello everyone, long time lurker but first time poster.
Coming from the Droid X2 and pageplus, I'd like to upgrade my phone to the DNA, but I'm a bit confused as to how 4G phones work on Pageplus.
Now, I did search around the forums (as well as Howards) and wasn't able to find a definite answer to my question.
1) Does the DNA work with Pageplus?
2)People mention having to flash a phone that is 4G in order for it to work, but can I configure the setting at home?
I found a helpful guide on helpdesk.houdini, is this it?
3) Are LTE cards registered to any person or device? I simply need a "blank" one to use the phone on pageplus right?
4) From my understanding, the phone is universal (GSM and CDMA) is there different verizon #'s I should know about?
Thanks for your help everyone, can wait to get this baby and run benchmarks!
