For some reason, after flashing 4.6, my EVO LTE has decided that when it's in Sprint Only mode, I get no service, when it's in Automatic, I get Verizon 3G, and when it's Roam Only, I get Verizon 3G.
Any ideas? I've flashed PRLs 12124, 24006, and 25006, and it's the same thing for all three (with the exception that 12124 gets 3G roaming and the others are 1x)
I've already updated PRL and Profile normally, no give. Did a service reset, also no give. I'm starting to think Sprint might just be down...

I actually figured out what's going on, so I have a fix if you're stuck on 1x:
First, go do a TWRP backup. You should always do this anyways.
Second, find your MSL using MSL Reader.
Third, you need to do an RTN restore (this wipes everything and then forces your phone into an automatic activation with Sprint). You can do this by hitting ##RTN# in the dial-pad and then entering in your MSL
Once the phone has restored to factory settings and then activated, you can go back into TWRP and restore your backup
This worked for me when my phone was having issues. It may or may not work for you.

I get a recording while roaming "Welcome to Verizon Wireless, We're sorry, we're currently unable to authenticate your phone, Please try your call again. What PRL do you have?
I never tried making calls but I don't roam on their towers anymore when it comes to data. I just get the triangle and 1x and no web browsers will let me connect to any sites. I kinda just gave up on it since I only needed it in the DC Metro.
I can roam with the new rom. im using prl 60610 and data roaming works as well.

1X roaming works on Alltel and VZW with 60610 and 3.x ROM here, but EvDO roaming is a no go on Alltel, even though it works fine with 60610 and 2.x ROM.
I guess you are not the only one having the problem. it's a no for me for both prl 60610/60611.
However I am only having the problme at home. I can roam onto vzw at different locations (voice and 1x data) $%^%^&#!$#@!$
People say it may have something to do w/ a-key which is blank on my phone ...

Using PRL 60610. I downgraded my phone back to radio 1.40 and it worked fine but it will not work with the new one. I guess roaming had to be given up for GPS.
Problem Solved. Seems like Sprint's System wanted to do the PRL update themselves for record purposes because after I got the rep to shoot a new prl (60611) roaming worked. I then downgraded to 60610 (best one for me) and viola it stuck. everything is working now.

Ok, so how did you fix this again? Can you give me the current setup of your phone or the steps you took to get to where you are?
Here is what I have done so far:
- Flashed from 2.17/1.47.1 to 3.16/3.27 and got the no Verizon roaming issue you described.
- Figured it was an issue with the new ROM, so I then downgraded back to the stock 2.17/1.47.1 ROM from the HTCAmerica website. (The downgrade wiped all my settings for MDN and MSID) However, the issue persisted.
- I updated the PRL to 60611. Still no luck.
- Called Sprint, who initiated an over the air PRL update of their own to 60611. Still no Verizon roaming. Sprint says they are "investigating" and will get back to me, whatever that means...
The only other thing I can think to do is to downgrade again back to 2.09/1.40.
Also another question, when you view ##778#, does your phone show anything on the "A-Key" page under the "Authentication Key" setting now that you have roaming working? Mine is currently blank, and I have read a couple threads talking about needing to figure it out, but those users all seemed to be Verizon customers. I would be interested to find out if Sprint customers have that setting or not.
This issue is driving me nuts, and any help is greatly appreciated.
Call sprint technical support and tell them you need an "HLR Reload". If they don't know what this is, ask to speak to someone who does.

Wow. Genius! Got Sprint technical support on the phone and asked for the "HLR Reload." The guy knew exactly what I was talking about and was able to do it right away. I am now able make calls and get data while roaming (currently using 2.17/1.47.1).

wow, now i know what i need to do w/ my 3.16 rom
edit: got a call from spint. the tech guy said that he found an authentication failure on my account and reset it. will test the roaming again when i get home. he also had no clew what the "HLR reload" is...
edit2: whatever reset sprint did at their end seems to work. voice/1x roaming is working now, still no evdo though.

I called and had them do this, but i had no luck. Still no EVDO roaming in places where there should be. I can make and recieve roaming call and data roam in 1X but evdo is gone. This is on both the 60610 and 60611 PRL. EVDO roaming worked on both PRL's with the 1.47 radio and 2.17 rom.
Any more ideas?
well I thought I didn't have these problems, but now I'm not certain. I don't think I've ever been able to EVDO roam on verizon, at least not sice I started paying attention which was already after moving to a 2.17 with 1.40 radio and orginal PRL. I know verzion has evdo in this area, but sprint doesn't. Maybe there is no agreement here for evdo becuase of that? I guess it couldn't hurt to try this trick and see if I get it.
I found more problems using 3.16. I did encounter the roaming authentication error. So I called, got the HLR reload. That made things MUCH worse. Now nothing works. My MSID and whatnot are all correct and I see signals, but can't make calls or data connections. Sprint tried some things but nothing worked. I'm going to do a hard reset and see what happens.
Sprint was surpisingly willing to work with me knowing that I am using the test rom though... but in the end still suggested I revert to an official rom when nothing worked out.
Anyway, not sure I'd reccomend the HLR reload on the 3.16... try at your own risk.

I suspect sprint just hit the wrong button. I hard rest... still no dice, but I noticed that dialing *2 does work.. normal numbers and network don't. Seems like an authentication issue. I doubt seriously it has anything to do with the rom, but I just flash 2.17, casue otherwise I don't hink I'll get far with sprint.
Now when I try to make it call it tells me the phone has not been activated. (with 3.16 I just got the call end dings imeediately)
SO when I fix this and flash back to 3.16, will I dare to try this again after roaming gets broken again?... tough call.
Edit... still need to fix MDN and MSID in the 2.17 .. more soon.
Edit: fixed MDN and MSID in 2.17... now having the same problem as in 3.16... ding ding ding... no call. Looks like I have to call sprint again.
ON the phone with sprint now. Have rebooted for them a couple of times. This guy is still stumped and he doesn't seem generically ignorant.

You might want to read it before doing any HLR updates in 3.16 though. I'm on my third rom today and a few hours with sprint tech and I still can't make calls.

SOLVED... see above thread. It seems they messed me up badly when they did the HRL reload... however.. it doesn't have to be done badly... at least now we know the fix if it happens to someone else.. so don't let my experience stress you too much. Now to upgrade roms again.

ahhh!!! after the upgrade, i cannot roam on vzw...
Called and spoke to several reps... no one knows what HLR Reload is... according to them turning the phone off and taking out the battery for a few minutes will force the HLR reload....
I don't know what to do.... These reps are impossible to deal with.. Anyone have any suggestions?
Ok...so I know there are other threads...read them all about this and Ive tried 3 times with Sprint updating and changing the MID number, PRL, Data reset but I still cant connect to roam. There suggestion was to swap the phone out but if I do that and reroot wont I be back in the same boat? What fix am I overlooking here? Thx

Dunno here, but I'd give it another shot. After I rooted and got a signal 16, I just stayed on the line, followed the instructions given, and was back up and operational within 2 minutes.
Note, though, that Engadget had a post saying that they were going to be pushing an update to the Evo3D in the next couple of weeks. The story also had a suggestion that it may close off the S-OFF/Root hole that the Revolutionary team found.

I was having the same problem. I was forcing Roam using Roam Control and when I did I was unable to place calls and received a Verizon Error message. Also 3G roaming data would not work. I could only receive calls while roaming. Here is what i did to fix it and I think it may be a combination... I reflashed the ROM I am using (ViperROM 1.3) and it still didn't work. So at a complete loss, I called Sprint. The sprint support rep said they have acknowledged a problem with the EVO 3D not roaming correctly. She had me make sure that the Roaming was set to Sprint Only, not automatic. and then she had me power down and pull battery. Once my phone came back up, Roaming worked!! I'm thinking she did something on her end to make it work. Also the dev for Roam Control, MrGreg said that there have been a lot of reports that Root messes up Roam Control on the 3D.

Just to clarify, I wouldn't say that rooting affects Roam Control specifically, but it affects roaming altogether. This was a pretty typical problem with the original EVO as well. Sprint is usually able to fix the "unable to authenticate" problem if you give them a call.

Well I couldnt get it to work on viper, Helicopter or Joelz.....Im going to try synergy since it says it cleans up some of the root method....maybe that will help. I never once got a rep saying they knew there was a roaming problem...
Ok so I got roaming to work...I asked the lady at sprint to do the profile update and HLR reset then I asked for a ESN refresh....he supervisor then got on the line asked how he could help. After he gave the spill about them not promising roaming will work all the time I told him I don't understand how an EVO sitting next to my 3D could roam perfectly fine and mine not. He said he would refresh everything on their end including ESN. I left my phone off for a few mins and now I can roam perfectly fine!

Had the same problem and after multiple calls to sprint with no help, I figured I would try to reset the phone and do a hands free activation. After I did this, everything has worked fine and roaming/calls/text have been perfect.
Note you must know your MSL to do this and be on Sprints network. You can call sprint for your MSL, or if you have root/s-off you can download MSL reader from the market

1. Go to data menu by entering ##3282# on the dialpad.
2. Click on "Edit Mode".
3. Enter your MSL # and hit "OK"
4. Choose "Data Profile".
5. Press your menu button on the phone and select "Restore" from the menu that appears. Then hit "OK.
6. Phone should reboot.
7. It should start hands-free activation.

I was getting this error. I called sprint, and they said it was an outage, it should be fixed in x, days, and told me I was entitled to compensation. They gave me a $25 credit for it. It's not a whole lot, but I'll take it.
I had the same problem...I did the Sprint Chat and asked for an HLR refresh, and that fixed it!
just do a sprint chat and tell them you have a error 16 they will tell u to hold on a min then they will tell u what to do and after that it will be fixed

Thanks I requested the HLR refresh and it worked!!!
I had the Verizon roaming authentication problem and made several calls to support with no meaningful progress (one rep told me to bring the phone to a store for an update). Then I chatted with a rep tonight and asked them to perform a CHLR refresh and reload my ESN. They had me pull the battery and the phone updated on reboot. Roaming finally works again.
I called and had a reset done and now I am stuck in 1x data hell roaming and not. Anyone else have that problem, I think I am gonna have to call back today and have them undo whatever they did.

Well to start with, I am from India and used many handsets with Reliance CDMA. In past, I have used Palm Pre and Pixi, HTC EVO, EVO 3D, Samsung Fascinate, Epic 4G touch, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, etc. All handsets were fully configured to work for Voice, SMS and 3G/Evdo data.
Background:
To get any device running on my network, the MEID has to be registered with the network, PRL to be uploaded, PPP and HDR user/pass has to be injected and it starts working. Procedure remain different from one device to another but majorly the above has to be done.
My network has Rev:a EVDO service besides 1x.
The problem:
The problem is with EVO 4G LTE is that I am not able to getting Evdo/3G signals.
Observations:
As soon as I turn on the phone, the network starts to show 1x-RTT instead of EvDo-rev.A:8 which appears on my other phone. The place where I am is well covered by EVDO/3G network so I dont think problem from that side. .
What I tried:
1. Correctly configuring the user/pass using DFS and QPST.
3. Uploading RCDMA PRL using CDMA WS, QPST and DFS.
4. Downgrading radio version for all available radios.
Earlier I felt that due to radio version, the problem is arising but I have tried with all the radio versions but the problem is still there. So now I feel that due to something is preventing the phone to connect with EvDo network.
Looking forward to you guys to diagnose and solve the issue!

I have confirmed once again from my service providers and my line is working fine, so something is wrong with the phone only. Guys, please help me.
Have you tried ##SCRTN# ? Type that into your dial pad. You will need to know your MSL, which you can get by downloading an MSL reader from google play.
If that doesn't work then try unrooting and relocking your phone. If it's still a no go, then take your phone to a Sprint S&R store. Make sure it's at least relocked before you take it because they will most likely want to try flashing the phone with their RUU which it needs to be locked to do.
If that doesn't work for them then they will need to replace it because it's most likely a hardware issue. If you don't pay for TEP then you'll have to pay $35+tax to have them do that.
Have you gone into the dialer settings and changed the frequency to either of the two options? If so, you need to be on the PCS band where Sprint gives their 3G. It's normally on automatic but after changed, it is NOT easy to get back to automatic.

Unfortunately, I am not on Sprint. I want to understand how can there be a hardware fault when the radio works well on 1x but not on 3G? Also, all other things are working fine for me.
Seems very illogical to me!

This might sound stupid, but try flashing some older PRLs,, in my case, for whatever reason, I get faster 3G speeds on an older PRL

Tried that also. We have 2 PRL for which EVDO is enabled and I tried both.
So i flashed 10.1 over my cm 10 with no trouble and have been playing around with it for a few days. I got sick of sprints slow ass speed and decided to try and change it. I go to my mobile settings and put regular CDMA./EvDo with out lte and that helped a little. Then i went to CDMA subscription and changed it from RUIM/SIM to NV and now i cant seem to change it back. I can physically change it back but the settings wont go through. WHenever im on RUIM/SIM i wont connect to 3g and texts and stuff wont go through. but on NV they do.
Did i **** up badly? is there any way to change it back and what are the negatives if i cant?
i have already tried flashing the rom again or restoring a backup and both had RUIM/SIM on standard but i had no signal with them on, only when i changed to NV could i get texts and stuff.
1) Is your phone number listed properly (settings >> phone >> status) ?
2) Is your IMEI different?
If either is wrong, you need to toggle between RUIM/SIM and NV then toggle airplane mode and then reboot
Also, Correct me if I am wrong but...
If you are on Sprint, I believe you should be using NV (Non-volatile) and not RUIM (Removable identity module) /SIM. The reason being that we have a CDMA network and no SIM card. NV uses the handsets ESN and sends it to the network, and saves the PRL to the handset whereas the RUIM/SIM uses the card's ESN and sends that to the network and saves the PRL to the card.

it seems that i have the same problem. i was on cm10.1 was messing with some settings in cdma, everything seemed fine but suddenly i wasnt able to connect to the mobile network. it says in the network tab under about that i am out of service, mobile network type is unknown, signal strength is 0 and the operator name is unknown. I had this happen before on the og evo a few years ago and it was the baseband that had changed. I noticed that a new base had dropped so i figured it was just that. flashed new firmware and i am at 1.12.11.1210 now and i still cannot connect to any network. msl reads fine. i cannot flash back to cm10.1 because im on the latest firmware/twrp. Any help would be greatly appreciated. hboot 1.9 pri is 2.97_003 prl says it is at version 1. profile and prl say they update fine. phone number states that it is unknown.
Bump. I failed to mention that I am s-off. Still no service. I have switched between damn near every single Rom that is compatible with 3.16 to bo avail. Is there any other Rom that lets you change the cdma subscription?

Hey guys, recently switched to AT&T from verizon 2 months ago. The guy at AT&T typed in the APNs and all is good besides poor reception at my house. Last night i turned off mobile data to see if my reception to send a text got better. Now I cant get mobile data to turn back on... It says add mobile service please contact customer service and gives the verizon customer service number. Any ideas on how i can get it back on? I've tried everything i can think of besides activating it on verizon again....
You might need to manually enter your APN since this is a Verizon device running on AT&T. Also if you are using an AT&T SIM you might need to input an IMEI for AT&T to get back on. These are the issues you run into trying to use CDMA/Unlock phone for one carrier (unlocked does not mean full functionality on all networks, if that was the case there would be only a single model of the V10) on a GSM carrier.

I did manually enter the APN... It senses not connected to VZW and then says to call VZW customer service... might have to activate on verizon again turn on data and switch sim?
The same exact thing happened to me a month ago
Go to: Settings>Backup & Reset>Network Settings Reset
it will turn your data back on by default but you might have to put your APN info back in
