Hi guys:
The NFC firmware is updated when the ICS firmware is installed the first time.
But if you downgrade the firmware from ICS to GB. The NFC firmware is also downgraded on first boot.
The problem is that when you install a ICS firmware again, the NFC firmware is not updated.
The same problem occurs for both Xperia P and Xperia Sola which I have.
I have done factory resets, I have used SUS to repair to ICS. But the NFC update does not kick in.
I suspect data is not completely purged. How do i do a complete ERASE of ALL data?
You can check the NFC firmware in the NFC test in the service menu.
Old in GB

same version? when u upgraded to ics the 2nd time with sus did the nfc firmware update kick in?

No, nfc fw isnt updated via sus... Not so good

My MT11i was shipped with android 2.3.4
I have no back up of any kind. i flashed it with nordic .42 and then updated OTA to .62 and rooted my device. for this firmware the officiall ICS was not released by sony so i again flashed my phone with india version of .62 and officially updated to ICS. now i want to go back original condition. is it possible??
can i use firmware back up of other MT11i? if yes can somebody provide me the indian version?
Can service centre make it to original software it was shipped with?
I even dont know my original customization number but the SI number is 1254-8966.

N yes u can flash others backup on urs bt i think its better to flash the ftf file of indian version

but do you want to go back to Gingerbread ?
According to the sony site my phone is available to get ICS.
My SI Number is : 1256-1931

I do not get a prompt on my phone or Sony Companion to update. Is their a way to force the update?
I have not got a unlocked bootloader since i don't want to void my 2 year warranty.

Just flash the Sony ICS frmware by using Flashtool. You don't have to unlock your bootloader and it will not void your warranty.
You have to use 4.1.B.0.431 firmawre.
You can download it from here, its on the first page of the post.

Did you try install drivers to reconize the cel on pc? Maybe that...
If you have branded firmware, carrier might have blocked the updates for you.
so i was wondering since i have doomkernal on my z2 and was wanting to update my z2 to 4.4 cause i wanted better call quality but i don't know wether or not it would brick my phone so would it if i used the official updater to update my phone to 4.4?
You'll need to use the Sony Flash Tool if you want to update your unlocked bootloader device to the latest 314 firmware. But I believe that DooMKernel hasn't been updated to work with this 314 firmware (you will get bootloop if you update firmware and then flash the current DooMKernel).
So you either
(1) update to 314 and keep to stock kernel until DooMKernel is updated to work with 314 firmware
(2) wait for DooMKernel to be updated to support the 314 firmware before you update via Sony Flash Tool and then reflash DooMKernel.

wtf?? i diónt think thats truth ?!?! just download sony update software (pc companion i guess) for pc & update it to ICS. i dont think o2 is in the position to decide zhis. even theres no law for this. also googeling doesent show anything about this. i guess its some kind of rumor......
if that not works (it doesent showed me an update for the 1st time as i bought my arc new) you can flash ICS throug flashtool :

What's the identification used by Sony's PC Companion to know if there's an update for your region ?
Is it the region specified in build.prop ?
Which update do you receive ? The one specified for your region ?
I was on Moonwalker ROM, with US as specified region in build.prop. No update for it.
Then flashed eXistenZ where I changed region to FR (France). Then update center in ROM had an update for me, lollipop .690 firmware. This is confirmed by PC Companion, and I downloaded the firmware (without install).
Then back to MW (US region), no more firmware update.
So, is the downloaded firmware the french one ?
Region is identified by the Customization Version. n Yes, the one in the build.prop .
n yes u hav FR ftf LP.
