Just posting to get opinions on after market batteries. I have owned the Atrix 4G since the day it came out with no complaints whatsoever. The battery life seems to be comparable to my old iPhone 3g (which i hated) but because the Atrix is so much better I obviously have it opened and am using it a lot more.
-Is it worth it to buy the optional extended batteries?
-Are they bigger that OEM batteries?
-How much longer is the battery life?
-If so, I assume my current Otter Box would not fit?
Thank you for the help.

The largest is a Seidio (which I dont think is out) it's only a 2200 MAH, compared to our 1900 (ish) MAH. I got a new replacement from moto because my battery life wasn't lasting as long as it was when i first bought it. Turned out I actually had the wrong battery mode on and it was using up too much power.
I have the 3600 mah, and while its big and you can't use a phone, it makes it easier to hold the phone imo, and lasts all day easily.

Jeez that thing would last me like 2 days
Userid moretalktime on eBay sells custom TPU cases the atrix with the extended battery installed.

My review with heavy usage says you'll last forever. Now I squeeze a day and a half with stock battery. That battery pushes me several.

do you have a prob where the % do not reflect the actual battery usage? my battery can show 30% but after a reboot it will show 100%. I can do a reboot twice before it shows the actual %
I can confirm CEOGUY's report on the Seidio3200. It is indeed a beast.
I too experienced the battery calibration problem. I am now using the latest Battery Monitor Widget. Something was fixed in a recent update that allows the calibration to work correctly.

Does the battery req a special charger? Or just charging direct from the phone will be sufficient
No special charger, I use the OEM one.

Stock BST-38 battery is only 930 mAh, having 1500 mAh means it has roughtly 30% more capacity than the stock one. Go to google and type BST-38, and look up their mAh. I remember seeing a thread here on xda X10 mini, or X10 mini pro talks about some china brand battery doing pretty good and it was 1500 mAh.
edit: here, this is the battery that i read that is pretty good. http://www.dinodirect.com/sony-ericsson-s500-business-battery-1500mah-deji.html?cur=EUR
edit2: battery test result. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12127573&postcount=1
I've bought an 1400mAh 3rd party BST-38 and I can say: It's crap! This battery lasts 50% shorter than the original one.
I guess you're better off buying original ones by sonyericsson.
I bought a DEJI 1500mah batt from dinodirect, and can't notice much difference. Not that I have done any real stress testing though.
The handy thing is now I have twice the capacity just by keeping the spare charged.
Battery management is the key to keep your phone alive longer...
I've been using my K770's BST-38. It's 930mAh though.
@all any body tried 1500mAh BST-38 batteries for Sony Ericsson S500.
this stock one is sucks really.
That's what I was wondering...somewhere on the net I was you'd that the 1500mAh battery of s500 is compatible with x10 mini pro's BST-38...

It wasn't the stock battery for s500 ...the 1500mAh one was manufactured by some random companies in China.

Hi all
I'm debating between these two.
Anyone with experience of the Ion - specifically:
Battery life
Capacitive buttons
Official ICS
I used to have the S but the power button placement, annoying capacitive buttons and yellow tints did my head in.
Sold it and got the P - whose battery life is very disappointing. Its at 17% now at 4pm from being unplugged at 7am and not a great deal of usage (ICS too). Thankfully I can return to Sony within my 14 day trial.
I'm looking at the Acro S in its thread too.
Those in a similar situation, your advice is welcome.
Thanks.

As far as I know the Acro S is very similar to S except for the higher battery
Ion cannot unlock bootloader. Correct me if I'm wrong

I'm not sure either to be honest.
What about official ICS for it? It seems that new ones being sold in India come with ICS already installed.

They both very similiar in term of performance. Capacitive buttons are definitely better than the Xperia S. ICS is smooth and fast. Battery is decent, if you're ok with the better of the Xperia then you don't have to worry about this.
So when in come to decision: bigger screen and 4G LTE vs Water proof. And the Ion cannot unlock bootloader as it's a carrier phone.
There is also Ion hspa version without carrier.

Very helpful thank you. A few Qs please:
ICS official?
Battery? What time unplugged in morning & when plug in at night?
Is it just slightly too big? Wide?
LTE only bands 4 & 17 I think. Dunno if compatible in UK?

Thank you! I presume we can install custom ROMS on ION H if doesn't have carrier - Yes/No?

They both come with ICS installed. And they will get ICS update in the future for bug fixes and improvement. Now we have the 2.45 update already.
The Ion can give a day with full charge. Charge it at night to full and unplug it before you go to sleep. Go to work tomorrow, a couple hours of gaming, some texts and call, some 3G for web browing... When you you get back home, it still have around 30% left. I think it's good enough for me. But honestly, I wish they could make a phone with 3500 mAH battery.
4.3 and 4.5" is not that much different. I can fit the Ion in my pocket easily as the Acro.
I'm not sure about 4G but you can check out the phone full spec here. Sorry mate, I'm from VN and we don't have 4G here. http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_ion_lte-4412.php
You might want to visit the Ion section for better result. My experience with the Ion was short so it might not be the best.
Thanks. Some listings on eBay show that Ion comes w version 2.3 Android. Strange.
Good to know about battery.
I take it you upgraded from Ion to AcroS? Any reason mate?
Sent from my LT22i using xda app-developers app
My upgrade was like this: Arc S -> Xperia S (trade in because of the stupid yellow tint and clumsy front touch buttons). The Ion was good but I really want a water proof phone so I upgrade to the Acro S. They're both good phone but nothing beat having a phone that can survive bucket of water haha
The lt28h and lt28i are the same except the h does not have lte. The lt28h comes with ics. Lt28i and lt28at are on GB for now but update is coming in Sep/Oct. Lt28h and lt28i have unlockable bootloaders if unbranded.
Battery is okay after calibration. Nothing spectacular but not horrible either. You can flash the lt28h firmware on the lt28i (exlcuding baseband) to get ice and lte already. Works great.

Power button replacement? I do agree the S has a weak power button. Mine has become kind of squishy, hopefully I dont have issues with it. I bet I could fix the squishy sensation easily enough by taking the S apart and adding a little rubber or something under the button.
Placement mate
Sent from my LT22i using xda app-developers app
So the Acro S is better for India. Since we hardly get affordable 3G and 4G LTE is out of the question.

Hello Guys...
here is a review about the ION LT28i (currently running the ICS 4.0.4 (LT28h) since past 3 days...
i luckily was able to unlock the boot loader and root my phone.
about the specs, it really is a sexy phone.
screen size, touch, earphone sound quality, camera (decent quality), hardware buttons (seem too immersed in the body and soft - especially the power button), strong build quality - unlike the S
the only thing is that...... XDA and CM have not yet invented the CM10 for this phone....
I am in search for a ROM of some oder phone in the meanwhile which may suit the LT28i/ah/h phone.
battery is also pretty decent.... gives me atleast 18 hrs uptime after using data, calling and lot of playing around.
I mostly use watsapp and browsing over it.
if anyone comes across a JB ROM for this phone, kindly pass it on....
Thanks and Regards to all....
Chao

nice battery, where did you get it?
Hey, i got this battery too and he didnt work for me. I had the same battery life as the stock battery.
LG
Ah,the placebo effect (or marketing interests?)...He has a 14% drain of battery from screen, less than half of phone idle, it means he did not use it as he says he did. If you do some research you will find out that there realistically is no way of getting more power out of a battery without increasing its size, there are some 1500 (advertised) capacity batteries which show that they are slightly bigger in size barely fitting in, but also on those users report amperes lower than what displayed...Many batteries out there are fakes...
My solution in battery problem
There is one viable solution from my point of view. Two extra batteries + charger. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-1200mah-...448706?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4ab2080042). It just works for me.
That was my setup with Xperia X10 Mini Pro! 2 Deji batterys plus the original! I think I'll go again for the Deji in my Mini Pro. I was very satisfied with those.
Here's the link
the bigger mAh, then bigger size the batt is. am i correct?

Beware of fake batteries.
SONY STORES IN INDIA SELL FAKE BATTERIES.
CONTACT SONY FOR A TRUSTWORTHY STORE TO BUY A BATTERY. EMAIL THEM.
=======================
they look exactly the same.
I have 2 same genuine looking batteries but they are fake...
You take pics and send them to sony email for verification and buy it from a seller who gives warranty.
I got mine from ebay but i feel it is also a fake as the lettering and other this are not straight but cross. I mean the printing is not proper and it heats up very much so it is also a fake
