The app won't show in the market so you'll have to sideload it but SPB shell 3d now has a tablet mode. It's basically landscape mode and it uses higher res graphics instead of stretching it out.
I've been using it all day.. works pretty nicely. The auto orientation is a bit slow and sometimes buggy so I've kept it on landscape only. Your mileage may vary.
How did you side load? I own and use my HTC Evo.

You can download from FAQ on their website. It looks like an older version though. I'm not sure where to get the "tab" version. If there is an APK, can someone post it. It requires a serial once started, so should be fine.

yes, that's what he means. very simple procedure.
Lol, to you maybe.
I got the update on my phone. If you hit menu, go to home screen options, and experimental options, you can change from smartphone to tablet mode.

Found it on FAQ. Looks great behind activate screen. Unfortumately i don't have access to my serial number and my email address used is no longer active. Im waiting on a response from spb for the serial number. Found the google receipt, but no serial number. I could almost buy it from handmark again just tl instantly get a serial number to lay with this.
I was really hoping their tablet version would come out soon. I think if you can combine the touchwiz functions with the SPB workflow, itll make the GT10.1 a home run.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
screenies please i would love to see what it looks like landscape...
Got my serial number. Man i love this thanks mr bomb for alerting me to this. I loved this app when i had a winmo 6 htc diamond and then on my htc evo 4g. I saw the demo for tablets a while ago and been drueling ever since.
I almost have my screens built and laid out. Id be happy to post pics but don't know how on non rooted stock rom. Maybe the TW ROM will be out next week and can use its built in function.
But i assure you folks this is the best home screen replacement. It has lots of wonderful and useful widgets included. You can also infinitely add or remove home panels.
Has anyone figured out if you can dock more than just the 1 icon in lower left as well as the app drawer? In the smartphone installaton/mode you can have 4 plus the 2D home to 3D home soft button. It would be awesome to have this on the tablet. I would easily uninstall ADW. Also has anyone tried setting as default home amd seeing if it sticks? My default home setting never sticks. I set it and then get pompted for it again.
Lastly, I had a bad experience when trying the VLT app on my Asus Transformer. I set as default and then it would not boot up. I had to return it. i definitely domt want a repeat. Lol
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
Set as default home and it sticks! Yes! I can reboot and no hang ups. Awesome! This made my tablet even more awesome than it was. Nlw if Touchwiz will come out so i can take screenshots.... Ill post em!
Thanks mr bomb. You made my day!

One word of caution... don't enable live wallpaper is you're running this. I tried a few times and every time I had to uninstall SPB to get it to load up again. Other than that it worked great. I just wish it was more full screen instead of the multiple panes.
I have it installed but needs serialnumber, i have purchased spb shell some time ago via android market... in this case did anyone got the sn from spb support?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
No you don't get serial number via Android Market. You have to buy from their site a 2nd time to get a S/N. I Google's for a discount code and got a 20% discount.

See I have something odd. I have done live and static wallpaper and it didn't screw it up. I kept getting watch dog alerts on Android Core (home.) But nothing bad. All of a sudden today, I got to work and put it on my media dock and every app popped up with force closure. Then I got a pop up that looked like the SPB font and said my installation could no longer be authenticated. SPB dropped to my Honeycomb Launcher. Now my wifi at work requires a browser to sign in, and i had not done it yet. SPB will not startup. I uninstalled/reinstalled, cleared cache, etc. It just won't start up.
I passed on to their support. But I appear to be stuck and unable to use it at all. it makes me very sad. It really made my weekend to setup and use SPB Shell. But it is all gone now. If I do get it working again, ill have to start over again.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
The way I got it installed is this...
Installed on my phone. Used root explorer to copy the apk from system/app to the root of my sd card. Then I uploaded it to my dropbox account and downloaded it on my tablet. Worked like a charm. I'm assuming this is because it was authenticated already with my SN when I installed it on my phone? Or maybe because my tablet is signed into my gmail account.
Awe.... gotcha. Where is it on the phone? I'm not rooted on my Evo 4G or Grab. So may not be able to do what you did?

It's in the system/app folder I believe. You need to be rooted to copy it out of there.
Can someone post screenshots for those of us who haven't installed yet?
Awe. I'm am going from an Evo 4G to Nexus S 4G this week. So I am probably not gonna risk rooting and bricking my phone. It would bring down the already low resell value on eBay. Lol
Maybe SPB will be kind enough to respond to my issues, even if they are not supporting it yet on tablets. It will hopefully be worth their time learning how to address it and advance their timeline for full release.
Maybe after I get my nexus and install it there, I can root and find it if SPB decides to not help. It will install but nothing happens now when i press home and select SPB. I get the SPB Mobile Shell 3D is starting with the circle going round and round .... but not even the serial box pops up. I do notice that it accumulates 1.07mb of data during this process. Ill clear the cache and same result each time. Its like something completely obliterated every app, but permanently for SPB when i sat the tab on the media dock today.

long story short, i was running windows 7 on my laptop. the company that gave me the laptop (and it is mine now, so not a big deal i suppose that i borked it), apparently, had some type of encryption/bit locker on the drive.
i upgraded my rAmz, and when i was prompted to reboot after changing some settings in the system control panel to take utilize all the rAmz,.... and it booted into a bit lock screen requiring a code. i am out of ideas to get around this. i need some of the data on the drive (photography stuff).
my question is... aimed more at some of the experienced people on this board...
does anybody wanna take a stab at unlocking this thing?

You're not just talking about the bios/cmos password, right?
If that's all it is you can just go in and reseat the little battery inside (usually under the CPU) and there will no longer be a password.

No... Its definitely the drive. Anybody can get around BIOS lol
From what I have read online about bit lockers is they are near impossible to hack/crack. Somebody would have to be extremely knowledgeable and probably require something other and the keyboard and their finger tips.
I am really disappointed. There is irreplaceable data on that drive :/

Without the PW it will be impossible to crack. Its a mix of hardware and software level encryption usually using a TPM chip in the laptop. Without that password the only thing you can do is whip the drive. Best to try and get the PW.

This may or may not be a way to fix some of the issues we have been having for our Cyanogenmod Android on the HP Touchpad. This is not a guaranteed fix, but several people (including me) have found this to be beneficial.
THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL FULL FIX!!!!
I do not promise anything, but this is definitely worth a shot.

I never really had a problem with this but I encountered a slight bug when changing the name.
Lets say I wanted the name to be "Touchpad". I would type a "t", but when I hit "o" it would have "tto". If I went on to the "u" it would say "ttotou".
Very strange. I just made the name "ttp".
Mines only gotten worse since this...no internet.

Most of the time I am using Android SDK's ddms for screencapturing. Based in this link, we can use adb to pull framebuffer image content, and convert it to png or any standard file format.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2807070/screenshot-of-the-nexus-one-from-adb
Code:
$ adb pull /dev/graphics/fb0
$ ffmpeg -vframes 1 -f rawvideo -pix_fmt rgb32 -s 544x960 -i fb0 fb0.png
I am not using dd to create correct raw file size, but, ffmpeg can sort them out, without any problem.
The key is the resolution for RAZR, which is 544x960.
Here I attached the screenshot which I made using this method.
Note: I changed the launcher to stock Android Launcher2, it brings the 'Nexus One' feels.
Thank you.
Great trick thanks!
sorry if im missing anything but wouldnt a screen capture app be easier?
i use screenshot it and images come out just fine
here's a screenshot i took with Screenshot It and it looks pretty good to me
Yes, screen capture apps are easier. This adb method is an alternative to ddms.

Sorry wrong thread
I've been searching for a way to make a screenshot of the HTC One S recovery for 2 days and this guide got me nowhere at first because the One S resolution is 540x960 and i thought the OP recommended 544 is wrong.
Well, now after 2 days i realize it is right actually. So, the One S is identical to the Droid RAZR. Pretty cool. Thanks for this handy thread!
Maybe worth explicitly stating on the OP, that the resolution in Framebuffer is not equal the actual display resolution haha...
I can pull shots from TWRP Recovery now with these lines:
Code:
adb pull /dev/graphics/fb0
ffmpeg -vframes 1 -f rawvideo -pix_fmt rgb565 -s 544x960 -i fb0 fb0.png
Thanks again guys...
I use this in my .bashrc on OSX.
Code:
## Take a screenshot of the currently attached android's screen
alias adb_screengrab='adb shell screencap -p | perl -pe "s/\r\n/\n/g" > screen-$(date +"%Y%m%d-%H%M%S").png'
I know this works on my handsets, but I haven't tried it booted into in any recovery images.
Hello everyone. I have gone as far as I can go by myself, and I am looking for a little help to see if together we can get this working.
I have a Lilliput 669GL-70NP/C/T 7" touch screen that I want to try and get working over USB host. So far, all my attempts have been fruitless, but I think that it is possible. The touchscreen utilizes an eGalax driver to work, and I see from their web site here:
http://home.eeti.com.tw/web20/eGalaxTouchDriver/linuxDriver.htm
that they have created a linux driver for ARM devices. Based on what I have been able to determine, this means that I should be able to load the driver on android, but this is where I start getting in way over my head.
Does anyone know what I should be trying to get this to work? I also read that ICS has some form of touch input built in... should I be trying this on that? Right now I am running CM7. It seems to me like with a little work we could have external touchscreens for our Atrix!
Oh I forgot to mention, when I plug the touchscreen in, DMSG does register a USB HID input device as "eGalax Inc. USB TouchController"
CM7 also registers the handlers for the touchscreen as mouse1 and event10 when I run "cat /proc/bus/input/devices"
It seems like this is so close right out of the box! I'm trying my best to load the drivers now from terminal... we'll see how that goes.
Hope you get it sorted.

That would be a really sweet way to almost have a padphone. Ever since I unboxed my lapdock I've said that it should have been a tabdock with a touchscreen instead.

Thanks, My idea here is to dump the phone to a mounted 7" screen in my car dash. I want to basically have a touch screen head unit with all the power android offers, and the unlimited data that AT&T is still reluctantly supplying.
As far as the project goes... I just tried on Joker's CM9 built with the exact same results... I was hoping maybe the rumors I had heard about ICS support were true, but not out of the box i suppose. As far as the drivers, I can not get the calibration / driver utility to run so far... and that's as far as I'm going to be able to go tonight.

HDMI works great as is. However, I was looking to be able to provide input back to the phone. Otherwise, the phone still has to be front and center for controlling, which in my opinion kind of defeats the purpose of putting the screen there in the first place.
Basically you want to do like, vnc and pocket cloud, where you control your computer via smartphone but you wanna control the phone instead via touchscreen panel, that sounds like a pain in the ass!

Are you sure that the USB isn't just for passing touchscreen input back to a device? I mean, I know there are such things as USB monitors, but I don't think this is one of them, is what I'm saying -- I'm pretty sure you need to use both HDMI and USB for this to work.
Even if you could load the driver. Which you can. You still need to write some libs and script to get android on the screen. Good luck

Perhaps I need to clarify... The Lilliput 669 has a proprietary HDMI cable that breaks into HDMI and USB. I am not trying to send video and input over USB, just input. The HDMI part works as is. I plan on using both HDMI and USB in the final solution.

Yea me too! I have tried in vain to buy this. $189 AU is a little less than $200, which I would be perfectly ok with for a completely working bluetooth solution. However, I can't buy it. MP3car.com is working with the designer to bring the product to market, but they are still 4-8 weeks out, and there are some concerns that it may not be released at all. The designer's web site lists the product as out of stock.
I have tried to find somewhere else that I could buy it, or at least get schematics to build one, but it has been in vain. By the way, this has been re-branded as "Mimics for Android".
I had been wanting to do the same thing. The other day i just came across something that should be coming out end of the month android quadcore mini development board. so you could say use touch monitor and android OS i see they have bluetooth also so maybe phone could connect bluetooth to the android system in car. there isnt much more info on the board but it looks promising for an incar project its tiny. its called odroid-x http://www.hardkernel.com/renewal_2011/products/prdt_info.php
there was some other $100 range android cube thing i saw recently too that might be good. OUYA is name of it maybe XDA will have a section one day for these devices. could make for some good in-car systems much cheaper than indash receivers and more features.
Good luck to ya, keep us posted. I would kill for a solution like this. I would love to be able to implement this, with a fiber optic audio out to a DSP like the Zapco DSP6 or Audison BitOne.1 or the Helix C/P-DSP that is coming to market.

This all sounds good, and I have seen the OUYA... it looks impressive. However this will remove the phone ability if I go this route. I could just check out the android x86 project for that... I believe they already have this screen working actually. I've been trying to follow how they made that work.
