hello
i've upgraded my Galaxy S2 i9100g from ice cream to jelly bean but i've forget to make a backup of cantacts list
this is not the problem because i've already saved it on gmail
but after upgrade i've installed android antivirus that i've used to save my contacts list on gmail
Instead of clicking a button of restore the 317 cantacts, i've clicked on backup button.
is there any way to recover deleted contacts?

Try going to your google account navigate there to 'Contacts' and see what saved there, there is some option to restore contacts
Check what you can find there.. had almost same problem after playing with the options there.. managed to restore my contacts.. good luck

Hi everyone,
2 days ago I tried to update my aunts sensation xl and told her that it is better to update its ROM from 2.3.5 to 4.0.3.
So i created a google account in phone and added it in order to sync contacts....and after 2 hours, I thought that it has been synced.... but I was wrong.
After upgrading device to ICS, and adding the previous account that i made before upgrading, I was waiting for contacts to restore, but nothing happend....
I opened the gmail account on PC and saw that there was no contacts. So the only way for me to restore the contacts is to find a way to restore them from Phone device.
So,is there any software, either on phone or PC, to restore contacts from phone? or is there a way to have access to root folders and files of phone on PC to use a recovery program to restore "Contacts.db" file that was erased while flashing ICS?
I will appreciate any help from you guys to help me saving my reputation.....
Im sorry but those contacts are gone, you cannot undelete a file like that.
Also, for future reference, google only syncs contacts that you opt to sync when creating that contact (everytime you add a new contact, it prompts you where to save it, you would choose Google Sync)

Check the sim card's phonebook if they have any contacts and also check the sd card if they have any vCards left. If not then they are gone forever. You can also try to copy them from your aunt's old phone. (If she has one)

Thank you guys
So you mean that i have to edit SIM contacts again? Add photo, edit numbers, merge and so and so.....?

1) click on thanks instead of saying thank you
2) You won't need to edit contacts if you already have them. But if they are gone then you would have to start everything from the beginning.

Hi,
I have just installed jelly bean custom ROM on my galaxy s2 I9100, but somehow my contacts were not all synced to google. What i have are only emails of my contacts. However i had backed up my contacts through samsung kies before rooting. Now after rooting kies is not recognizing the device. So is there any way to get those backed up contacts in the kies.
Thnx in advance,
Smruti

the only way for u is to restore stock firmware, then connect to KIES and restore Contacts back to phone, after that export those contacts to ur phone's internal sdcard as a .vcf file, then re-root and reflash JB rom and restore the contacts from internal sdcard by Importing the same.
after that u can synch all the contacts to ur Google a/c
hello,
i've upgraded my s3 from stock rom 4.0.4 to Cyanogenmod 10 4.1.2.
now some contacts got lost, i tried importing them from my nandroid backup over titanium backup pro.
After importing my contacts application crashes though so i had to delete all contact data.
is there any program to open contacts2.db which displays the contacts in a nice, readable way?
sorry if this is in the wrong section
Hi,
I am having a similar problem. For some reason not all my contacts were synced up, and I want to recover them.
Were you able to resolve this, if so, how?
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Search "sqlite" in play store and download one of those sqlite database managers.
If you're using Google contacts, then remove yourself from Google on your phone in settings. That will clear everything.
Then go to google contacts on the web and check if any contacts are missing. If not, just add Google I'd again and let it resync.
If you're not sure or if contacts are missing. Then Google has nifty little feature of reverting contacts to a specific date. Kinda like windows restore. That should get you back on track, then after restore, add the google account to sync and you're set.

Convert contacts2.db to vCard gsmrecovery ru/index.php?lang=en
Preface (skip if you want):
So a week ago, my data and wifi both stopped working alltogether. If I did a factory reset, it worked, but when I restored my synced apps, it stopped working again. I reset without syncing, so I backed up everything using Titanium, and did an upgrade to Jelly Bean AOKP.
Now, my contacts won't restore.
When I try, nothing shows up in my contacts book, even though when I view my db files in .txt format, I can see jumbled info.
Titanium can't back up my contacts probably because I was using "Contacts" in Ginger Bread, and Jelly Bean has "People". I don't know, I'm a noob. I'm just guessing.
I've JUST finished restoring via Titanium and redownloading all my apps. And now I read I have to go back to stock firmware and back it up again and go back to AOKP?!
PLEASE help me figure out another way!
I only had computer access yesterday while visiting family (my own is broken).
Idea 1 (attempt in progress):
Remove "People" app on JB, restore original contact book, back up there, remove old GB book, reinstall People.
Problem is, I don't know where to find "People" again. Nor do I know how to uninstall it.
So, trying to figure that out.
Idea 2
Dissect my compressed backed up files and retype everything out, or replace my People files with them.
- com.android.contacts-20121205-121353.tar
- com.android.contacts-63595028103eedc350c975b39a6e23f4.odex
- com.android.contacts-e358929a51f0e35200269216062cfd41.apk
- com.android.mms-1eb9bc46bf5a27dcf82f70a4c46e23ac.apk
I managed to scavenge (out of other things):
- contacts2.db
- contacts2.db-journal
- profile.db
- profile.db-journal
...NO IDEA how.
Sync yout contacts with your google account before flashing JB. After flashing JB set your Google account and your contacts will be restored to your device.
If upgrading between stock roms you can also backup and restore contacts using Samsung Kies.

Hi, I'm on v. 21 Indie's AOKP rom. Is it normal that contacts app can use only google account ? I cant restore contacts list to my device android memory. "Starred i android" is empty. In settings to write new contact there is no option to choose where the contact could be stored.
Ive done full wipe before flashing including factory reset and system format coming from 4.3. Thanks for help.

It is not that kind of problem, I have done backup of my contacts but I cant put it to device memory to make it possible to be seen by for instance contacts widgets.
When I open contacts settings there is no an option for device contacts to be seen at all, only google contacts. Thanks for the reply anyway.
