Hi all,
I rooted my Xperia S using Bin4ry script (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460).
I have now a small android robot icon at the top left screen next to the dodol and gauge battery icons.
Any idea what is it?
Is there any list that have all of thease icons and its explanations?
Thanks.
That's USB debugging.
You can switch it off in settings> developer options.
It needed to be on for the skript to work but now you can turn it off.

Sure, attached.
This is what i did after rooting, maybe it will help:
I installed Root App Delete and Quick Boot.
Also installed Root checker but uninstall it after saw that I have root.
In addition I removed the Facebook app and it's addons that all was a system app.
Thanks

How to do it?
Why do I need to do this? I didn't do it before.
Isn't any other way to remove it without risking?
Is there a problem that this sigh is there at all?
Thanks,
Ok, a miracle happened...
I thought that if like you said, this is a debugging mode icon, I will get home, connect the phone to the computer with debugging mode, then close the debugging mode and it will solve the problem.
Well, no.
I did it and what i got? 2 robot icons... closed the debugging mode and only one disappear.
So, I thought what to do and decided to shut down the phone while it is still connected to the computer, then to turn it on and maybe when it will load while connected, but not with debugging mode, the robot will go away.
So, I did it, and it load, but the robot was still there. in addition I saw that I have a Google play update. it was for power toggles.
I clicked on the update and when Google play was up, started the update.
After the update I noticed that the robot disappear.
I guess it is because I had a lot of icons there it there was no room for it, and it didn't get back as the debugging is unchecked.
Anyway, problem solved.
Thanks all for helping.

Hey guys,
Is anyone else having problems sideloading apps on the Amaze, even with unknown sources checked? Every time I try to install anything, I can only click "cancel" and not "install". It's quite frustrating. Thanks.

Interesting.
What apps are you trying to install?
Perhaps they're corrupted?
Try an adb push.
adb push appname.apk /data/app/
You may have to reboot but that might do the trick.
You can also try an apk installer (or manager).
These apps aren't (gasp) protected are they?

Alright, so here's the deal. Did a factory data reset thinking that it wouldn't do anything and it fixed the issue. Weird...

Having this problem now...
I just did a wipe to install beast mod and I am getting it. Wanted to try out Extended controls. 4Shared it and I can cancel but not install.

Don't know if it'l let you push to /data* anyways, instead I would try:
Code:
adb install appname.apk
Having this problem now with stock ROM with latest update and no root. It started all of a sudden. Although rebooting fixes the problem, it does so temporarily. This is also affecting installs from the Amazon App Store. Any ideas?

I have this problem with Amazon apps. I haven't tried anything else from the Market.
Restarting my phone fixes this problem for me but after a day or two it does it again.
I am running completely out of the box stock.
So yeah you're not the only one having this problem.
Possible Solution
Found the solution to my problem. Apparently when it's enabled, the Screen Filter app was preventing the side loading of applications. When I disable Screen Filter, I can side load my apps and the Amazon App Store installs applications normally. I no longer have to reboot. Hope this helps.

That would explain why restarting the phone solved the problem, temporarily.
Until of course we all enabled "Screen Filter" again and then it would stop working.
Testing that now.
I have a similar problem when running Lux Auto Brightness.
Disable Lux, sideload the app, re-enable Lux.

This is actually because of the application "Screen filter"
It's actually a security measure build into Android. It's so an application cannot 'trick' you into installing malicious software. (ie. let's say screen filter was hacked to swap the cancel/install buttons.. to make "cancel" appear as "install" etc)
Basically any app that overlays the entire screen disables the install button from working, for added security.
Thread moved to Q&A.

Hope so. lol
I just started having this problem tonight.
I often sideload apps and never have a problem..
But tonight I just tried, and suddenly I can no longer click the "Install" button after scrolling through permissions.
I can click cancel fine to go back..
but Install button just won't click.
(and I have no "screen filter" app anywhere.)
Running stock 4.2.2 on my GNex.
Help?!

Your code doesnt work. I'm just looking for an option to let me activate or deactivate the mode that when your computer is connected to phone, it shows up like a camera.
yes that is mtp mode which is the only mode you will have for ics. they removed mass storage mode from android with ics because of how the filesystem works.
when you connect the phone to your PC, do you get a notification on your phone? If you bring down the notification menu you should be able to see the USB notification. Clicking on it will bring up a menu that helps you switch modes.
I always have to plug my phone into my PC twice.
It has never once connected on the first time but never fails the 2nd time.
Thats the problem. Yesturday i did have the mtp notif...now i dont it just says charging but it doesnt shop like its connected on the phone or the pc. I wonder what happened. Wierd. Does anybody kniw where the mtp mode menu is...if there is one.
P.s. this problem happens on all my computers so the problem is with the phone.

And yet mass storage works flawlessly with SGS2 running stock ICS.
Another guess perhaps or another line of reasoning?

hmmm I don't know if this will help or not but I did stumble across a USB settings in our phone with anycut.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1764696
I've left mine on "Mass Storage" and its been that way ever since. Other than that I see the USB icon in the upper left when I plug it in and can see it through my pc.
I had the same issue where it would only charge when plugged into a computer. For me it took a battery pull, then the computer was able to see the phone. This happened for me after experimenting with various non-samsung chargers and usb cables.
Weird stuff, it just came back today. I have no freakin idea what happened, i didnt do anything at all. It just came back. Well, thanks for your help.
I was wondering if an app can be developed to be able to force stop Android system on command without going into notification pull down and holding down on wifi then clicking app info everytime.
I want to be able to get rid of the wifi notification and beats notification to free up space.
Thanks

I'm relatively sure that force stopping android system is a bad thing. I think that there are mods for removing the WiFi notification around here somewhere though.

For the persistent WiFi notification have you tried to go into settings and untick the notification, never auto turn on wifi, and turn on wifi when launching apps or something like that I heard that helps stop the nagging

Hi guys, my xperia go is not responding at all. It's on, there is an led flashing siginifieing a text message but thats all. The screen wont turn on. It wont hard reset, and my only option would seem to be opening it up and taking out the battery. I fear it may be water damage, but I strongly doubt it. If anyone has any solutions please let me know. Thank you

Hi. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I have an Archos 70 xenon tablet (uk) It's an ex display model and the demo mode is on there.
I've tried holding volume up and power and I can get to recovery. But im unable to select anything while in recovery.
Tried to connect it to laptop but my pic can't see it obviously. I also tried downloading the firmware from archos website and putting it on a micro sd. But this also does nothing as it's on demo mode.
Any help/advice please?

if you can access the settings, go to security, and look if Demo is checked on, on administators.
Dont know if it would work but try to open the phone app and dial *#7780#*#* and see what happens. Its Supposed to factory reset the phone.
