i was just testing my xperia solas camera yesterday and i noticed that the camera takes about 6-8 seconds to focus when in extremely low light (at a pub with extremely dim lighting) even with flash on whereas my friends xperia arc must have taken about 3 to 4 seconds at max. the camera app also takes a couple of seconds to fire up on my sola. what could make the focusing and firing up the camera app take so long despite being a dual core?
are you on ics or gb because i'm on gb and face no issues the camera is fast and responsive while on ics i have seen many users face problems such like yours
i am using ICS, i hope there is some fix soon. .
yeah sola's camera with ics have problems. sometimes freezing, or lately opening. not quickly.

focusing takes ages as well.

I've read about it in several places, but the camera is just slow, I don't know why it happens. the camera responds slower than a 6 year old feature phone from Nokia
It was slow on stock rom and no it's slow on CM7. I've tried an app like camera FX zoom, but still it seems to take 2 seconds from the time you press the button to the time it actually take the photo. when shooting a moving object, even a slow moving one, this is very frustrating.
any suggestions?

Have you tried cleaning the lens? A little dust messes with the focus which prolongs picture time. Also you can grab the miui camera apk and push that to your /system/app folder. I've found it to be a nice upgrade over stock.

I routinely use my camera and do not see those issues. I do keep the lens clean and that is probably a help. Do wish I had a flash sometimes, but there are always work-a-rounds for that.
I have other higher end android phones and just got a cute mini pro. It performs much better than i expected. I have no problem in using it despite its small size! It is really a gem among the other giant android phones! glad i got it!

because data network is disconnect.
You have to go to wifi settings and in there press the menu button, go to advance options. In there, there has to be an option to chose the way wifi behaves once the screen is turn off.

I think the camera is not bad, but for a 5mp camera it could be better

truth... i was even praising my brother's Nokia E72 cos tha camera is awesome..!
but dis is greater!
for me the camera is fine! really loves this phone. It runs fast and easy to navigate! i will consider if there will be an upgrade model.
It's not the best camera but if you know it's limitations you could work around them. Don't take photos in automatic, it's always better that you choose a scene and the type of focus. Don't use image stabilization if you are in night mode, even though one would think that this is the best scenario to use it, because what it does is doble the ISO so you have two times faster shutter speed but since in night/night portrait it uses a very low shutter speed, the amount it increases is not sufficient to be able to take a handheld photo and because of the high iso the photos have a lot of noise. I use Vignette in night mode to take photos with poor light, if i'm able to put my phone in a stable surface, because this mode uses a slower shutter speed and lower iso than night portrait mode of the stock camera. It uses 1/4 shutter speed and 125 of iso. In normal conditions there's not much you could do. Maybe if there is too much light change the mode to sports so it increases the shutter speed.

Well it depends on expecations.
I knew that the mini's camera suck even before buying it. Watched lots of video samples and photos taken with the xperia mini pro, and thought "well, it's total crap but it's still better than the x10 mini so what the hell!"
And just got one. I did a few tests myself, and the results are exactly the same as the samples I saw on internet.
But still, when you look at the overwhole features, the xperia mini is a much better phone than it's competitors, specially at this price range.
Hi guys.
I've bought a galaxy grand 2 two months ago. For those two months phone was doing great. It was jelly bean so i upgraded it to kitkat. It was working better after upgrading. But after I've rooted it, it gives me some problems like google play cant get into internet, over heating or battery draining .
However it was good though that i was getting extra advantages for rooting it. But I thought using official binary will be good for now.
So I re installed Kitkat version of it.
After installing official firmware, everything was working fine except camera's focus and accelerometer's direction.
Camera: When I try to focus the camera into close objects it can't focus it. Tries but fails. Thought it might not be able to focus the object from that distance. I tried other camera apps. I tried using Google camera. Google camera can take the photos of far object. But when I try to focus on close object it tries to focus and the app crushes. No idea what happened to the focus feature.
Accelerometer: After Re installing, I've noticed a problem in accelerometer. That is when I hold the camera 90 degrees it actually calculate wrong. It calculates that i'm holding the phone left side slightly. Though i'm holding it straight. The problem appeared when I was playing temple run. The character was running on the left side. Sometimes when i restart my phone the accelerometer get fixed. But after some while the same problem appears.
Dont know if these problems are hardware issues or software. Dont know even how to solve it. Any Solution from experts will help me a lot. Thanks in Advance....
So I got the V10 on T-Mobile the day it was announced that the bootloader was factory unlockable. I love it so far with one somewhat concerning exception (apart from the laughable battery life but *shrug*): the majority of the time when I try to use the back camera, I'm not able to focus it. In auto mode tapping to focus does nothing. In manual mode sliding the focus dial also does nothing. Third party camera apps won't focus either. I have to pull the battery and reboot and it *might* work then, and if it does it'll only work the first time I open the camera. Front cameras work fine and the focus on the back camera when it works is excellent. Has anybody else run into this or know if it's worth messing with or if I should just exchange it?
Also for clarification I was running the stock rom (rooted) but with very little frozen. Switched to black hole yesterday (triple wipe) which has been lightning fast so far but having the same issue.
Thanks!
Same
Got it last week and Ive been having the same problem. I dont have many apps but I do let my battery drain due to laziness. Thats the only bad thing I do. I'm thinking of exchanging it because ive also messed with all the settings in the manual camera and nothing. Its set to a very close 1 inch distance to focus well. Front camera works marvelous.

Yeah close focus is exactly the problem. I can take passable pictures of stuff right in front of me by physically moving the phone closer and further until it's in focus but that's useless. I'm going to go by the T-Mobile store this evening or tomorrow and see what they say.
Please note this is my first thread and not dwelling deep in to the techs of the phone.
Amazon kindly delivered my Xperia 10 Plus this morning and like a little child at Xmas, couldn't wait to unpack and power on.
Now my current status is I have been running on Xperia XZ Premium for last 18 months and decided to see what the deal is with the larger screen X10 plus.
First glance, it's tall, big a just a tad slimmer, suppose that'll be for the one hand use.
Installation of micro sd card and memory card a breeze and since I opted for the dual sim, the sim tray can handle 2 sims easily.
Pros
OS seems to be quicker but the boot up time isn't
Camera capture has improved compared to XZP and will need to check this tomorrow on daylight
The little widgets like side sense is a good way to use phone on handed
handset in one hand feels comfortable and very light but still purchased a case for the phone for the additional protection
Cons
Took a while to remove the google search bar on home screen as OS 9 seems to do this differently when it comes to removing (had to Google it)
Charging time does take a little longer in my experience but this could be down to battery care and stamina
You can't customise what screen is your home screen so if you have 3 screens, 1st screen is your home screen, This is issue for me since I like my icons/apps setup in a way makes to easier for me. Could possibly not be setting the home screen correctly
Had a strange issue with restore from my Google account and it placed two icons for each app downloaded so ended up factory reset and seems to resolve the issue
All in all, still early days as not much time to fiddle with the phone as I required to setup again and juggle the icons on home screen as sadly this didn't do on backup from old phone.
I'll add more comments when I have managed to play with the phone more.
Thanks.
Well, been a few days using the phone and so far had the following as issues or switched off.
1. Camera seems to crash twice on use where app opens but buttons doesn't respond until you have the crash notification. Albeit camera quality is very good compared to XZP.
2. Switched off the Swipe up on home button as it seemed to get messed up with me wanting to access all apps from swiping up from the bottom of phone.
3. As someone else mentioned before, games touch screen buttons not optimised as some games buttons are low right side and makes it very awkward to use when playing.
4. Couple of times you press an icon on app and doesn't seem to launch or takes a while to do anything. One app i remember is launching the messenger app for FB from the FB app. Did sod all and restarted handset to fix it.
I would take some quality pics but where I live is a bit trashy so nothing good atm and will wait for weather to improve.
Just hope others who have the same phone report on same issues for Sony to fix
anyone know how to get the "recent apps" button to show up on the nav bar? I dont see one anywhere, or, how to enable it

I think you need to open the Xperia Launcher settings. Just hold down your finger on one of the homescreens. The 2nd or 3rd option should give you the old navbar back
thanks, but there is no mention of navbar anywhere in the Xperia Launcher settings..:crying:

I have no issues with my Sony Xperia 10 Plus after 4 months so far. It's fast and smooth in my use. I can take great pictures and videos. 21:9 experience is great and amazing!
How is battery life and sot?
I'm seriously considering this phone as an upgrade. I'm in Asia so models here come with 6gb of ram. I'm currently on the z5 premium. Would you say there is any improvement in performance between the xz premium and the 10 plus?

Performance on XZ premium is better compared with Xperia 10 plus. Xperia 10 plus is sluggish en general use. I think there is a problem with the launcher optimization. The only way that i founded to acelerate the smartphone is to deactivating "Animations". After that, the Xperia 10 plus beahvior, results in a great performance, smooth. If you install a 3rd party launcher, the sluggish problem appears again. This phone definitively needs software optimization from Sony. I waiting android 10 fix this situation. I want to highlight that the sound quality from bluetooth is amazing, i thinl is better that xz premium, XZ2. I dont know if Sony increase the audio quality in this model.
I bought this phone yesterday from best buy and to me what a pile of junk, the screen just above the power button actually is separating from the plastic frame, I hear faint pop like sound and I start pressing on the edge of the screen I heard the sound again, on further inspection looks like the adhesive tape they must use to attach the screen to the frame is letting loose from the main frame, this thing is slow and very sluggish. I would advise people not to buy this phone, for the price..... you can buy a older flagship phone or even a oneplus 6t or 6 for less used and runs circles around this sony phone.
