Problems in my Galaxy S3 after overclocking. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, i have a problem in my Galaxy S3 GT i9300, (US Version)
After i overclock it to 1400 max 200 min. my Galaxy S3 is hot, but not too much, is this normal?
Any links for the right overclocking in my smartphone? thanks!!!
and my battery drains fast!! what should i do, i need help (((
Im using Galaxy S3 Us Version, iGT19300 Rooted, CyanogenMod10 Nightly build

I don't think the battery has anything to do with your clock speed. It's more related to apps you installed. Try identify which apps causing this first with betterbatterystatistic apps

Kill your running apps regurarly. You can also undervolt your phone. Mine works perfectly with -50mV

You can try siyah kernel which has stweak apps. Or you can download apps like system tuner from play store.

TBH if you don't know what your doing you really shouldn't be experimenting with overclocks or undervolting, if your lucky and screw up you may have a non booting device if your unlucky you could destroy your cpu (I know it's very unlikely). Please read up on this before attempting, imho stock speeds and voltage should suit most users.

yep. You'll need an oc app to do the over clock. The rom uses the cf root package already. You'll just be updating it in effect.

thanks for the information. will be trying this once i get off work. are you using this currently?
Yes I am. I am using system tuner pro, but most people prefer no frills CPU control- which is free.
Themythics already uses cf-root 3.7-b82. You'll be installing 3.7-b83 which is the update with OC enabled. I installed this a week or so ago and have not had a single problem.

good one! Thanks!
Kindly, beware when OC-ing. You could brick it.

Performance issues with S3 after JB update

Hi guys,
My S3 was fine few days ago. All of a sudden the performance decreased drastically after the jb update, I used to get scores like 12245 on antutu and 5489 on quadrant but now I am getting around 4574 on antutu and 2456 on quadrant.
Phone gets heated up.. Lags a lot

What should i do??
Please help me
i'd say go back to ICS
try a custom rom
change your kernel
is the gpu speedup options checked in developer options?
I flashed back to stock. Now everything seems to run fine. Thanks guys

Yea I've used setcpu before. I tried flashing this and then using that but I can't overclock at all.
I'm just stupid, I'm still very new to all this stuff. I probably have to flash something else or something.
I'm on Viper 1.0 still so that's based off of 4.0.3 and sense 4.0 so idk

Just being nitpicky here, but your not technically "running" moonshine soff. Its just a method to gain soff, not something that runs on a phone that could contribute to benchmark scores outside of allowing you to overclock and run a custom kernel.

Well, if we are going to be 'nitpicky,' I never mentioned that moonshine contributed to the benchmark score although it did make everything else possible (such as Sense 5 and a custom ROM) - so I thought it 'deserves' a mention.
Further, still going with 'nitpicky,' the correct way to say is you're not technically.. not as you said "your not technically 'running'...".
Anyway, I just recently tried the Beastmode ROM and have gotten a solid 19K.

I attached my latest score, 19.2k.
I was wondering about voltages, I'm running Nos M7 with BM (Nos Repack). I don't see a way to change the voltages, do I need a different app for that? I have SetCPU Pro and Antutu Overclock Pro. In neither of them can I change voltages. I also noticed if I do anything higher than 1672Mhz, it freezes and shuts off. I'm sure with the changes to the voltages, I'd be able to get a higher clock. I'm just not sure where I can change that..?

I use system tuner pro for voltage control. I've never used set cpu pro or the antutu one. Maybe post something in the kernel thread for BM cuz i'm not sure why u wouldn't be able to set ur voltage with SetCPU. Maybe has to do with it being a Nos Repack (not really sure what that means)?

Most all of these variances are thermal/throttling related. Play around with your thermal settings if you know how and really care about these silly scores. I can hit 22k on stock kernel repeatedly after making some thermal tweaks.
Not to brag but....
