Factory reset should do it, if not downgrade to GB.
I did a factory reset, my phone was more responsive, but battery life is not good and i downgraded.
Complete wipe when updating to ics is needed

How did you downgraded your phone? are you using xperia U?
I contacted sony support for downgrading...they said no downgrade option is available
I did a wipe with flashtool when updating to ics and usally it runs amazing smooth, no lag but just sometimes its getting freeze and laggy for like 2 minutes or somethinh... I cant do anything then... Really weird...

Also i had some lag after ics update (with sola) do a soft or better hard reset (factory reset), say bye to lag and other problems!
After this wait two or three days, ics need a little to stabilize itself!
I have had the same issue when I upgraded to 4.0 from Australia.
Rebooting and all the other tips didn't help.
So I just went back to 2.3.7, perhaps that's the best thing to do?
(Camera lag, keyboard lag, all kinds of lag that get quite annoying after a while..)

It's been happening for a few days, and I know it's not that bigger deal but it's bugging the crap out of me.
Almost Every time I go on a app the dam phone freezes, could be just for a few seconds or for 10 mins, and if it freezes for a long time I have to reboot it by holding the volume buttons and power buttons.
I've deleted all my apps and reinstalled them but keeps happening.
Anyone come across this and found a solution?

Mine reboots all the time, no matter what I do, even while in a call! It's really annoying! It happens from the beginning, since then I've changed all the firmwares available, rooted with stock kernels, now I'm on 76 with Doomlord's advanced stock kernel

I flashed doom kernel advanced stock to get the rooting and then I flashed stock kernel extracted from the ftf.
Now I stay without recovery but no more freezing.

2.3.7, 6.0A3.67 ( stock generic phone ) yup mine freezes on some games, but I'm kinda hoping that ICS etc will fix that .. when did it start ?? A few weeks ago ... mmmm
It's completely stock haven't done anything to it.

I've had the same problems to be honest. From when I got this phone(first week of release in UK) until about 3 weeks back, I had no problems at all. But since then I've found it lags really bad on certain apps and a lot of the time it crashes so I have to do manual reboot.
Mine is on FW .67 with no custom roms and not rooted. But apparently the .75 update is available for UK generic now so hopefully, these problems will be solved.

Just put the new update on my phone. So will have to wait and see if it does it again.
Edit** still freezing

I had the same problem a few weeks ago then i send my phone in sony service center. They have fully reinstalled the phone software and now the problem is gone. You can do the reinstalling by yourself, u just have to use flashtool and choose one of these ftf's http://www.xdafileserver.nl/index.php?dir=Sony+(Ericsson)/SE+Xperia+S+(LT26i)/STOCK+ROMS
Updates and repairing from SEUS and PC Companion won't help. Fully reinstalling the software is the only option. You can stay calm because the problem is software, SONY are awared of it and i am sure the ICS will solve it. Enjoy your phone.
I assume by doing that by yourself you would be invalidating your warranty?

if it is Kaputt u take it to the shop and demand new unit!
remember to take receipt with yall.
Usually, if it is a bug or software related problem, they will only flush it and reinstall the program... normally, only hardware related problem is being replaced with new unit... but of course, it will still depend on the technician that is going to verify your problem... those technicians who wants easy job, will replace your unit regardless of your complaint...
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
@iainbp Are you still experiencing the same problem? Even though you said to me that even after updated to .75, your device was still the same. I updated 4 days ago and I'm having no problems with lag or freezing at all. Only lag I have seen was due to an app rather than the FW. So, as others have said, either send it to Sony so they can reinstall, or do the easier option and simply flash it

Hey there
Just installed the XEO-DLIB release.I've restored several apps with TB and got root again with CF-Root. Wiped completely after flashing. But from time to time I get annoying freezes.
Tried different SetCPU governors but none of them seem to improve this.
Some of the freezes need me to pull the battery in order to reboot.
Is there anyone who might have a solution on this?
If any further information is needed just let me know and I'll provide it
Kind regards
ch0ka
Im getying the same with omega newest vs.
I reverted to stock ics wiped cache dalvik factory reset the lot.
Every now and then the phone gets really slughish and i mean really sluggish ive actually just had to power off.

You are not alone mate.
I couldn't resist waiting for the Official JB so I flashed Wanam JB ROM 3.7
I got 3 Touchwiz home error already which i read some where reported already + i've noticed while the phone charges the Led is so dim ? very strange. The Quadrant result shows my current JB Rom is slower than ICS ROM by big margins. not impressed by JB.

LED`s brightness is controlled through the light sensor. Thats why its dim. Get light over the phone and it will get brighter.

Same here random freezes I got so frustrated I am back on my best nand backup ICS.... and I swear to god i actually forgot how this phone felt, Now it is BUTTERY smooth even opening widgets and instanly scrolling hardly jerks... I have it clocked to 1704mhz and battery is great perfectly stable.. Every single game works without a problem. Nothing beats ICS still in my eyes, even with that extra ram on JB. ICS is still smoother on my phone right now. Untill JB becomes like this I aint going to use as a daily
well in one week I will be on I9305 now that JB is 100% better
Re flashed it and it has sorted lag and browser problems.
Is anyone having problems with 3g. I am nog able to get it working. Tried a couple of modems and nothing.
Im on omega v27.1
cheers

My sons Xperia u, is having the same issues
freezing and locking up completely for no apparent reason, this seems to happen at least a couple of times a day, even after a factory reset.
we updated to ics from new so I really have no idea if this happened on gingerbread.
Tomorrow I will try to reflash/repair the software, if I have no luck then it'll be going back to sony.
Is nobody else experiencing similar issues? This is the only thread I have stumbled on, which makes me think its hardware issues.

Flash CM9, no problems with that
Maybe its a hardware issue bro, coz we didnt face that issue on .54 firmware

When i tried ics when it first came out my mini had like 100 problems with it. It would lose sim card, it would lose all the ringtones at every reboot, it was slugish with out of free space warnings all the time and a lot more. Basicaly unusable so i was on a rooted gb the whole time. Now out of boredom and curiosity i am thinking of trying ics again. Any chances that some of those issues are gone in latest ics firmwares for mini?
I never unlocked bootloader, only rooted, even stock rom is up, so can i update with pc companion or have to flash ics?

You can update using PC Companion, but if you want to root, I would suggest to think of it before updating. Because you can use the local-prop method for .431 on .587 etc, too. Just run local-prop on gingerbread, update without a wipe, run push-root-files and you should be done

Want a gamer's advice? Stay in GB. Way better than the dark grumpy memory hog that sony gave us thereafter. :|
Bugs r few. Like 2g/3g reset bug, no led notifications when in sleep- bug and all. Either stay in GB or jump to JB. However, that's my taste. Try urslf

Thanks for that report, now we know that it wasn't the rooting method that killed Sound Enhancement.
Is it dead or only working with Walkman?
That is what I have noticed after moving to 136.
It only works with Walkman and does not apply to flac files any more so I ended up with all MP3s and using only Walkman as my player for now.
I stream music. Sliders work but there's no effect on sounds. I check apps running and it's not there. Anyone tried factory reset?

This, lol. I'm STILL on 4.2.2, firmware 532.
I refuse to update/upgrade until 4.4 Kitkat has been officially released, rooting is EASY and doesn't involve downgrading and causing headaches in doing so...
Current rooting methods take too long to do, it's a pain in the ass!
I did try 4.3 but found no noticeable differences and downgraded to 4.2 again.

I haven't tried factory reset, because I plan to root now after this & I don't want to re set up the phone, but I stream also. Tune in, Sirius xm, Google music, what I've been doing is dialing my voicemail during music playback to get the eq active / working. Although It doesn't stick a few records loud are better than nothing...

What is the current method of rooting .136 if your bootloaders locked, if any? I was reading about flashing .136 FW infused with root then installing SU from memory card, with locked bootloader, but I thought you needed your BL unlocked before one could flash anything on the ZU???

There is a way to root 136. However, it involves downgrading to firmware 532, rooting, flashing and so fourth. It's easier rooting using an unlocked bootloader, however, you still need to downgrade in order to root.

OT but i'll continue as it may need a little clarification...
If you root 532 and then unlock the bootloader you should never have to downgrade and root again, just wait a week or so for the next upgrade path to become stable in keeping root, but it will normally just be flash FTF, flash recovery, flash SuperSU and maybe a patched kernel (I think well will need another patched kernel for the 4.4 stock update - just a feeling)
If you root 532 and cant unlock the BL, you will have to wait for the devs to build a stock based ROM with SuperSU cooked in, and follow their instructions closely, but again you shouldn't ever have to downgrade and root again if you wait for the Stock ROMs to appear. It tock all of 3? days for the 136 update to have rooted ROMs on the forum
I had the same problem as the OP after the update. Only owned the phone a matter of hours then connected it to my PC to down load files and the Phablet updated then the problems started?
Not uncommon in the technology industry but non the less rather annoying.:crying:

So far only I have seen one person claiming that it works fine for him....I am waiting for the 6802 version of NUT rom to see if that gets me fully working again but not expecting much.
It's a bug, usually sound enhancement work with everything, this update only makes it wrk with Walkman, restarting phone sometimes makes it work again with everything but once u stop playing music it goes bck to being buggy as he'll.it's annoying.

I got sound enhancement working with 136 for FLAC and any other app. As I recalled I had other issues before when running non 6802 ROMS on my phone, I was still holding on to some hope that a 6802 based 136 ROM would be the one that will work...and IT DID!
I just flashed the 136 from the NUT thread and it is all working great.
Well how for stock non rooted:'(
