UMTS Stick ;) - Sony Tablet S

Today I once tried an app that is actually for the Asus Prime. With this app it is possible to root to go on a connected USB UMTS stick to the internet. It only needs the APN and DNS servers, and the pin is entered and select the USB Dev 0 as USB connector.
requires:
Root
busybox
UMTS stick the row Huwai (mine was S4011)
App in Google Play Store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsInVtdHMubWFuYWdlci5qayJd
this is great! Today testet with Xperia Tablet with Android 4.0.3 Release 6 rooted

did you have to install some kernel module to make it work?
this is how I solved the same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31785137&postcount=16
I tried UMTS manager before I installed kernel modules, but it didn't work. since I managed to make it work with PPPwidget I didn't try any other app.
but the main thing was to install kernel modules.

No i install no extra kernel modules... I have been rooted the tablet and install the umts manager and it work with huwai usb umts sticks and set the dns an apn and the controller usb0

Hi
I got the same problem and can't
connect to my NB.
Tested few tools for tethering but none of it worked
fine.
At least Barnacle:
It works fine and it is showed in my NB connections
as a peer-to-peer but I can't connect to it.
Tried changing some settings but it still can't connect.
Hope some one could fix the problem.
Xperia x10 mini pro
2.1.1.A.0.6
Barnacle settings:
WEP enabled
Channel 6
Skip wpa_supplicant ✓
Auto associate ✓
WAN rmnet0
LAN auto detect
Greets from Munich
Great! now I know its not only my problem ... Lets hope it gets fixed
Not able to check at this moment,

No problem for me using barnacle on the latest firmware. Try reinstalling the barnacle or just use titanium back up to restore the apps. Apps is known to malfunctioin when updating or changing firmware

I use the same setting, except different WEP passkey. I use either WEP passkey authentication control or just NAT control, just use random port which starts from 2xxxx.
try re-installing the barnicle.
here the settings I used:
For NAT Control:
WEP : disabled
AutoAssociate : off
Access Control : checked
NAT Reserved Ports : 20009
For WEP Control:
WEP Enabled : 6 or 9 (having conflict with other device, or its only me).
Access Control : unchecked
I don't use both WEP and Nat control at the same time.
Works for me on 2.1.1.A.0.6 with MiniCM-1.0.0-Alpha2, Froyo Cyanogen 6.1 « rom » and WPA supplicant enabled
But it doesn on DarkFab X v1.0 with gingerbread theme
Devilo
After a few trys and some observation I found the Problem. Every baconinginterval the adhoc Network have a other MAC. I try to set a fix BSSID in Barnacle but now i can't find the Network so i undo it.
After some Trys i found a workaround:
1. Start Barnacle
2. Press Associate
3. Try to connect with your Computer
4. After entering password, your Computer try to connect, press 1 time again Associate
My Settings are:
WEP Encyrpting: Enabled
Skip wpa_supplicant: Disabled
Auto Associate: Disabled
WAN: rmnet0
Hi
i tried your workaround,
but it isn't working.
After I entered the password, my netbook immediatley
said "Can't connect to network".
I tried to press Associate, but you can't be this fast
So I still can't tether my connection ...
But thank you for trying
When i retry it 3-4 times it work for me, but with the previous firmeware barnacle work much better.
Hi
I still can't collect,
but I got to that point,
that my netbook says "Enter password"
But when I enter it my netbook
is loading and then again says "Can't connect to network" -_-
Even though I press asocciate when it is loading
or when I enter the key ...
I tried it many times with little changes,
but it don't work ...
now Im having the same problem, I have it working for almost a week, but when I update the barnacle to newest(via android market).. now it is not working even without NAT Control and WEP enabled. I think this is a bug on barnacle release rather than the SE update. coz I got this working on 2.1.1.A.0.6 using old barnacle copy.
any chance someone still have an old version of barnacle?
I haven't yet tried reverting to this copy. its a very old copy of barnacles. see
http://www.esnips.com/doc/0d39f06d-afe1-41fc-9577-0ad6bf1c9093/barnacle
thanks! i'll try this one, once i got to tinker with my sister's lappy.
Hi
i tried it with the older barnacle.apk
Installed it, set settings an started
but i stil can't connect
But thank you for searching this older version
for us
same problem here .. my computer and iPod can connect but the problem is that it's taking me several tries before my gadgets can connect.
i even have to press associate several times and turn on/off barnacle but most of the times it always fails.
with the previous build, my gadgets can connect without any problem.

Please help me debug my OpenVPN!

Hi all, I'm trying to get OpenVPN working on my SGS2 - connecting to a WRT54G router running DD-WRT (with OpenVPN).
This is my first Android device and I previously had the same tunnel working on my Nokia N900 before I dropped it and killed the touchscreen.
So the phone is rooted using this kernel here. I've added OpenVPN Installer, OpenVPN Settings and Busybox, copied some keys and created a config file. The settings app says that it connects fine but I don't appear to have a tunnel.
Firstly, I appreciate I may need a tun.ko module seeing as I've not added one. How do i check if I've already got one?
Many thanks in advance
Solved it with the zip from this thread.
I'd read that before but hadn't realised it was going to work for me. Got nowhere with the tun module as modprobe was showing nothing. lsmod is still showing nothing even with the tunnel up and running!
At least it works!

How to connect my 4g lte modem to REMIX PC rooted version?

Hi,
How to connect my 4g lte modem(Huawei E3372) to Remix OS PC rooted version?
I have my modem connected and it isn't being detected as a modem, format usb drive is my only option. Remix OS views my USB modem as a usb drive. I tried downloading the famous PPP2 widget but it won't even start/no widget selectable from widget menu.
Any ideas of how to connect to the Internet with my modem? As it is now, the system is useless without a working network connection and a usb modem is the only way i can connect to you guys from this god forsaken place on earth. Right now i am using my smartphone's connection(WiFi), but my mobile plan is very limited. I could exchange the card in my phone and set up a hotspot but that would be too much of a hassle considering I have to have a cell phone. So, how do I use the modem attached to my PC? How can I make it work?
Thank you!

Same dongle, same problem. Had to uninstall the OS. It's a no-go since this is the only way I can connect to the Internet and I can't imagine running a second machine to tether WiFi.
There's a related thread on reddit(r/RemixOS/comments/49ahbx/how_to_connect_my_4g_lte_modem_to_remix_pc_rooted) that I'm following. Check it out!
It's frustrating! :crying:
EDIT: Just realized you're the guy from reddit. XD

There's a widget called PPP2 that works fine on many android devices but it isn't working on Remix. I submitted a post to the PPP2 forum:
http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/bb/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2493
Hi there! The dev of PPP2 responded to my post from yesterday saying the PPP widget won't work with our dongles(E3372) because they don't support PPP. Gotta find another way to connect.
quote:
"This is a problem of the modems used, not of the OS.
The modems mentioned do not provide a PPP port, so they don't work with PPP Widget 2."
the same problem modem huawei e3276 not working for remix os :crying:
You Guys are Right..
But I made it to work on my PC..
Now Enable USB Modem-Dongle Access in Remix OS | 2G 3G 4G support.
1. Install PPP Widget 2 or 3 version ( Ver. 2 works for me).
2. Now Disable Launcher File Mode from Experimental features in Settings
3. Now Add PPP Widget using long press in Homescreen.
4. Now allow Root Access, then Insert USB Modem along with SIM(Activate Internet Pack before).
5. Wait for Remix to Popup message to connect USB via PPP Widget. Then Press ok to continue.
6. Wait for another Popup to appear. Again Press ok to continue. It will show No SIM.
7. Now Immediately Remove PPP from Widget.
8. Add it again.
9.Now Configure your APN settings for your SIM and then Connect.
10. 100% works for most PC.

how to use USB Wifi Dongle in

I have an M8S Pro but have had nothing but problems with the WIFI strength (see my other post)
I ran another test this morning with the device sitting right next to wifi router,
transferred 532mb file from samba share (router has usb drive attached)
it took over 26 minutes and crashed around 510mb
side notes:
transferring the same file to my laptop transfers at 20-30MB/s
the m8s pro had stock firmware originally and the issue was the same
i have installed nexus tv build (found here but of course the issue is still happening) - Ver 7.1.2 - Kernal Verion: 3.14.29
In hopes of fixing this i recently purchased a: Leelbox 600M AC dual-band Wireless USB adapter
However i cannot figure out how to use this adapter and disable the internal one?
with the stock firmware there was a build.prop file, and i had tried wlan1 (instead of wlan0) however this just resulted in no wifi at all. with this new firmware (7.1) the build.props file doesnt list the wlan adapter like the stock does so Im not sure what to try.

That's because the property Wlan0 does not exist.
You can modify the Wlan1 property(not the actual property itself)
For disabling inbuilt wifi requires more low level code and driver removal, as a temporary solution there are wifi drivers inside the lib and vendor folders, there may also be some relavent files in /system/etc
As for getting your dongle to work, wouldn't that be more like USB tethering to an android device? Maybe check out USB tethering settings or apps

could be set within the kernel or elsewhere, check if the property exists first with adb shell getprop blahblahblah

Android TV 6.0 Ethernet issue

Hi, I have xiami mi box 3 with android TV v6.0.1 (not rooted)
The default system:
if I go to settings there's only WiFi connection
if plug cable to usb-rj45 the default launcher will show connection at the bottom then if I go to WiFi I can see Ethernet is connected
My issue:
I wanted to change the default launcher without rooting the device, I was able to do that by using
HTML:
adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.google.android.leanbacklauncher
Now my custom made launcher is taking place of the default one. However, I cannot connect to ethernet as it is not shown in the system settings so I cannot connect manually.
I believe, after days of searching, that I need to do this in my code. One way is using commands execution; something like
HTML:
ifconfig eth0 ......
but this seems need a rooted device?
I need help by directing me to the right path to accomplish Android OTG Ethernet Pragmatically Connection.
Thanks
AB
