Camera button broken = No way to take video? - HTC Titan

Hi everyone, I posted this question in another forum but got aboslutely no response. Hopefully, the grass is greener over here.
Please someone tell me there is a soft button or a way around to take video without the camera button. I figure I can still take picture by pressing the screen. However, in video mode, pressing screen doesn't do anything.
Mine is under a 2-year warranty, I wonder if I exchange to MS Store, will they give me a Window Phone 8? Hehe...one can hope.

It looks like I need to unclock and put on a custom rom in order to apply WINTT.
Sorry, i haven't tried any of the custom rom, was waiting for the official 7.8 update. Which custom rom should I try? I am kind of leaning toward the Nokia version due to its apps.

If you have to unlock your phone using GoldCard method - than you have no chance - this method uses Vol Down + Camera buttons sequence for entering USB Host mode.

Blank bootloader...am I screwed?

I have searched and searched these forums and have seen several other people with this problem but no solution. I have also looked through the wiki to no avail, so if someone can give me an answer I would really appreciate it.
I have been able to get into the bootloader screen (the r-g-b white stripes) however there is NO text (no serial, no usb) on the screen and it is not recognized by any pc. Can't get any response from mtty.exe because it can't see the USB port. Have tried on multiple PC's...
Is there another way to resurrect this athena or is it DOA?
Thanks,
-Alex-

Yes...no joy.
Just stays on the tri-color screen with no indication that it is reading the card.
Thanks for the advice though!
Did you try resetting - camera button and reset button on the back (I think...) pressed together.

Yes, tried the hard reset (camera + reset) the alternate reset (comm + camera + reset) and even the other reset (volume slider + camera + reset). And yes, I was pushing down firmly on the camera button.
Each reset brings me to the tri-color bootloader screen with NO text. No model number, no OS version, no "USB" / "Serial"....just the red-gree-blue-white stripes.
I have looked extensively at all the forums, used the google search for the site and combed the wiki with no luck.
So do you think it is a lost case?

Hello,
sorry for what's happening to you. Can you tell what led to this situation ? Were you trying to unlock your phone or just flashing a new rom ?

I was trying to load a new ROM but I assumed that I had to use the OliPro unlock first.
Got to the radio flash and that is where it crapped out.
Now that I have read a little more carefully it looks like I don't need to use the OliPro beyond the first step for the stateside unlocked 7501.
Thanks,

when your on bootloader ? does windows detect a usb generic device ?
Nope. Tried 3 different PCs. Shut down all the activesync processes. No luck. No detection that anything is cabled to the advantage.
I am thinking that it is warranty time.
Damn, I hate this....its just the principle of the thing...

Key rule to remember is to always make sure the Advantage is Fully charged. Try charinging it and reflashing it with the factory rom, located here. http://www.america.htc.com/download/RUU_Athena_HTC_US_2.19.453.4_105_1.47.51.00_Ship.exe. Keep us posted and let us know how it went
have you removed the sim and memory card
just checking basics
try that with a full charge and then enter bootloader and connect to usb
Thanks for all the help! I gave up and warrantied a new unit where I WAS successful in loading a new ROM.
I have learned several valuable lessons in the ROM upgrade process. This was on an advantage 7501, unlocked, USA version. I did the upgrade the process with the OliPro 3.0 unlocker, the PK Rom 3.0 and vista pro (32bit):
- Make sure that you have NOT customized your athena/advantage beyond the basic calibration and cut/paste walkthrough.
-Download ONLY THE MOST RECENT VERSION OF THE OLIPRO UNLOCKER. CHECK TWICE TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE THE LATEST.
-You MUST let step one of the Unlock complete. With the latest version this will make a bricked Advantage practically impossible.
-Go through step 2 & 3 even if you don't think you need this. It will upgrade the radio and give you peace of mind if you are updating to the PK rom.
-Don't panic if you complete step 1 and goof step 2/3. You can recover. But if you screw up the initial SPL unlock in step1...it is not going to be pretty.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for everyones advice!

Windows Mobile 6.5 Expiration 12/01/2009

Last night I received an alert on my phone stating "This copy of Windows Mobile expires within 30 days on 12/01/2009."
This morning I reloaded Da_G's 23420-fuze-uncompressed ROM and received the same expiration message.
Is there a fix for this expiration date or is someone working on it? I have attached a screen shot to show the message. My apologies for it not being clear, iPhones don't have the ability to take good macro photos.
Oh yeah, and I did a search and found nothing on the topic.

From the looks of it, the shell wasn't patched during the cooking process. Odd, you say this is Da_G's ROM? Usually he is on top of things.
Wot daaaa :S
Try this: bump your calendar up a month, and see if the device pukes on you. It won't; the shell has been patched, but the notifications are still in the queue. You can delete the notifications with dotfred's task manager or sk tools.
Actually I am having the same issue!! Was using Baseline ROM and got the Error. I changed date to 1/1/10 and POOF WinMo is now gone =( cant use phone at all...... !!
What do you mean WinMo is gone? It doesn't start anymore? That is weird indeed. You should fash a new ROM and see what happens...
its gone as in a white message and everything is disabled.. cant even get rid of the expiration message..
Cant flash to new Rom cause comp wont even find it anymore when usb is connected.....ugh!
i had my phone disappear once You get a message that your version expired and then you can't enter any apps and data connections are disabled. All you need to do is force a hardware hard reset of the device - it was restore your ROM and you'll start the clock over. It's not fun but iut's better than a phone that's nonfunctional.
i think you need an patched shell32.exe, because yours is timebombed, but actually(since last week) i dont know where to get this patched exe...
which os build do you use? maybe i have one 4 you
maybe search this thread:

Did you flash a Rom without first flashing Hard SPL?
If you have flashed with Hard SPL you should be able to run the boot loader by pressing Vol down button and reset at the same time, keep holding the Vol down button and the boot loader screen should load. You should them be able to connect to your pc and re flash another ROM.
Other than that if you have flashed a ROM without first flashing Hard SPL then you must have ignored all the warnings which strongly suggest that you could brick your phone. I hope this is not the case.
nice news
sorry mates but i really like this messages. coz i always hated wm6.5 and its honeycomb desıgn. may be it pushs cookers to make beauty wm6.1 roms

The Timebomb is active! I bumped the calendar up and it froze up and locked me out. I can no longer use the phone. Below is the error message that I received.
"This concludes the beta test of this software release. Thank you very much for your time and effort in helping make this a great product for our customers. To obtain a newer release or further information, please visit the web site that you used to obtain your current beta release."
eckki, I'm using Da_G's WinMo 6.5 23420-fuze-uncompressed ROM. Can you PM me the instructions and link me to the shell32.exe that is patched to prevent the timebomb?

I'm 99% sure you can't replace the shell.exe file once a ROM has been flashed. It's something that has to be cooked into the ROM. Anyone have any success replacing the shell.exe after a flash?

I'm surprised that it snuck in; I've tested my 23081 build (which has the notifications), and the timebomb was patched properly. Maybe you should pm Da_G just so he knows. You can sometimes overwrite shell32.exe I believe, but it's not a great way to fix things. You're better off cooking in the patched shell.
HI, im using Energty 23016 25/10 and no message until now. I has sync with my phone and everything its normal...
Ofcourse I hard-SPL it, when I turne phone off and press vol down nothing happens.. can u please help how do I hard reset and re flash?

Ok, turn your phone off. Now, simultaneously hold vol down, hold the power button, and use your stylus to press the reset button on the bottom. That will take you to the tri-color screen. Plug your USB into your phone and reflash.

The same problem with my GSM Evo 3d:/
What ROM, Radio, kernel are you using? LeeDroid V5.3 and LeeDroid V4.2.1-1.94GHz-KERNEL, radio - 10.59.9020.00_10.15.9020.06 in my case
http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/543/img20120225140835.jpg
I noticed that when I removed battery and tried to boot, in the beginning screen was black and then was LeeDroid's boot-sound and when phone is supposed to ask for my PIN code the rainbow-pixel screen appears.
Could anyone make step by step instruction how to reflash ROM? I cannot see anything so I need all information (like push vol down two times). I hope it might works

really... LCD Failure... how would i fix that... here are some pics. I am running this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456793 on version 1.3.
so i will post pics, and do you think rogers would be able to fix this problem or would it cost a hell of alot of money?
I'm not convinced that it's LCD failure. LCD is working (in a strange way) and in my case touch is working as well. In my opinion it might be motherboard (or anything that controls LCD). I'm going to try changing radio, rom and kernel - maybe it will work. But I really need your help with the step by step guide I mentioned in my previous post.
ok, so what are you going to try and do, are you going to try and reflash a rom?
like i can try and give you instructions, but i need to know what you want to do.
EDIT: I have downloaded and tried to run the RUU for My rogers htc evo. it is installing the rom, stock radio, and what not. so when it is done i will update and post back if that worked or not.
UPDATE: Installing the new RUU did not work, the screen is still messed up im guessing its a hardware failure. im going to try to bring it into rogers and see if they will do anything to help me out.
Something new, now my screen is completely black (but i can hear that touchscreen and touch buttons are working).

I don't want to start new topic so I'll ask here:
Could anyone please help me with going back to stock rom?
My LCD is still not functional so it'll be unusual guide.
1. I open cmd and run adb reboot bootloader command (with stock rom in PG86IMG.zip file)
2. Does phone starts in fastboot or bootloader? If fatboot I need to press power button right?
3. Now phone should check for PG86IMG.zip file, what should I press to accept flash?
4. Now few minutes for flash
5. And what button should I press to reboot?
Is there any easier way to flash stock rom without working LCD? with adb commands maybe? please help me guys

Guys I have a problem. Is there any way to switch on USB debugging without working screen? I need to s-on my phone and I cannot use adb without USB debugging. My touch screen and touch buttons are working though so maybe someone could make screenshots how to switch it on? I'm on stock ROM now.
Or maybe there is other method to use step 5 of this tutorial without USB Debugging?
And one more question, If my phone doesn't connect with computer in bootloader/fastboot, does it means that I have s-on?

[Q] Casio G'zone Commando Custom ROM

Hello. Maybe some of you have heard of a certain phone known as the Casio G'zone Commando. It is rugged phone from Verizon, and I think it is time that someone develops a custom rom. Even with all of the bloat uninstalled, it still freezes up every once and awhile. This phone isn't very popular, so not many people have tried a get a custom rom on it. Through my research, this is what I found out: The Commando doesn't have a way to get into a recovery menu (there is no key combanation) However, I know that Getitnowmarketing has posted a working recovery on androidforums.com, but you still need to hook it up to a computer to use it. So what does this have to do with custom roms? Also, what is a bootloader, and how would I unlock it on the Commando?? I really need some help. If no one will volunteer, I may just try to pull this off, but first, I am gonna need some education on custom roms and technical android stuff. Thank you!
I have been fooling around with the commando as well, and have found that if you have it connected to your laptop and while booting up you press the power+camera+vol down buttons it will pull up a hard reset screen. During this time I also had Odin3 v1.70 and it shows under the ID:COM - 0:[COM51] highlighted in yellow. Could we at this point download custom firmware, or possibly root?
Any help would be appreciated!

That's very interesting! I think this means that there is a way to recover your phone if something goes wrong!
Unfortunately, I still don't know if this is enough. Somehow we need to get an expert to help answer our questions...
Hopefully one of our devs will be a real sweetheart and get ICS rolling on this device.
There are there no known ICS ROMs for this device???
No, there is not an ICS or JB rom for this device. I don't know if it would be able to run stock JB and ICS well considering it is 800 mhz (I've heard somewhere the recommended ICS speed is 1 ghz), but overclocking is always an option (I think overclocking is easier on custom roms). Also, JB or ICS may run better on it with some customization.
But either way, a custom rom, whether it be based on Android 4.x or 2.x would be great! I would learn how to do things like unlocking the bootloader and making custom roms, but time is an issue for me. I just wish there was a dev out there willing to do this. I would even consider donating!

I've found a few methods to root it. You just need adb and google lol
My dad has the original commando, and his upgrade is in April. It's a ways off, but I may be able to make a port of CM for it from my OG droid CM7 rom since they are similar. I'm not sure yet, since I've never tried making a CM port before, but I'll give it a shot after I get my new phone and customize it around the same time. Who knows, maybe I'll be able to release a stable port for it.

Trying to go back to Stock P769

I recently installed CyanogenMod with the Unlock Bootloader for noobs and I noticed the internal SD wasn't mounted. So I tried to flash an ICS ROM to see if it would work but it didn't. I was stuck at the boot screen. I tried restoring an ICS CWM backup and a JB backup but it didn't work. Currently, I have a flashed JB backup with a messed up touchscreen (because of the way I unlocked the boot-loader). It won't boot and I don't know how I can install the stock ROM. I really just want my phone to work at this point. I don't know if there's any way to use the offline method to flash a .kdz since I can't access android. I tried hard resetting, but when I do it starts up Clock Work Mod which I believe happens because of the way I unlocked boot-loader.
I'm trying to use this guide to fix it using SW upgrade. I did find a .bin and .fls which i'm downloading right now.
If anyone could help or give some advice that would be great. I really just want to use my phone, I don't care about flashing a custom ROM right now. As long as my phone works, I'll be happy.

Let me know if this works for you! Also you can do the offline fix just as long as you can get into S/W Upgrade mode. But I am curious to see if you can use the bin/fls files tool that you mentioned to get your phone working again.

Thanks for the reply! I'm planning on trying this method out tomorrow and ,if you don't mind, could you please elaborate on how I can do the offline fix with S/W Upgrade mode? I'll check back on the forum tomorrow!

Well just get your phone into S/W Upgrade mode and follow this tutorial. Getting into S/W Upgrade:
1. Get stock ROM here.
2. Turn off your phone
3. Press and hold the vol + button while inserting USB to computer
4. Keep holding the vol + until you see the S/W upgrade mode
5. Flash ROM with tutorial mentioned above.
Good Luck!

Isn't that just an infobank of all the KDZs? I'm pretty new, but can you flash a kdz with the offline method? To clarify, I was asking how to flash the kdz with the offline method in S/W upgrade mode. So ROMs/KDZs are essentially the same, right?
Edit: I read everything over again and realized what KDZs really are. I'm just wondering now if I could just hard reset in some other way because the LG Update Tool doesn't recognize my phone even though I see all the drivers. It's stuck at 15%.
Edit 2: I tried the method I suggested and it resulted with "Magic number does not concide".
So I'm stuck here with a phone that is stuck in bootloop, and has CWM installed. Can anyone help?

alright, this is all from memory but the offline flash didnt work as well for me when stuck in weird bootloops.
Step one-going back to online flash---->
A---
the easiest way i found was to go to C:/windows/system32/drivers/ect/hosts
right click>open with notepad
there should be two lines at the bottom
"127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com
127.0.0.1 csmgdl.lgmobile.com"
i would cut them out and paste them in a text doc in the same folder for reference later...
but either way you should remove them from the hosts file and save
B----
Make sure your small server is closed! once you minimize it it should go down to your status bar (shttps)
Step two-LGMS---->
make sure you have LG mobile support installed or install it.
open lg mobile support
install needed drivers for your phone
power your phone off/remove the battery
put battery back in
connect it to your computer holding down the volume up button
S/W UPDATE mode should pop up, if it doesn't preform and hardreset and try again til it works (it will)
then in the top right corner there should be a button or two click them both until you see
"restore update" or Update restore or something to that effect
select that
and let it ride man
i got my phone ****ed many times and just had to keep redoing this until it worked. if your bootloader is truely unlocked you can probably go through all that again and get CM10 working, i did but im still working through kinks.....
GOOD LUCK feel free to ask any more Q's about this process if you run into any problems

Hello! Sorry for the late reply. Before I start, do you mean LG Mobile Support form when I unlocked the boot-loader, if not could you provide a link to it? And by the way, when I tried hard resetting, the phone sent me back to CWM, any ideas why?
I was reading the CM10.2 notes yesterday and I realized there isn't supposed to be an internal SD card showing up when you plug in your phone to your PC. So I did tried fixing what wasn't broke.
Anyway, thanks for the info!

Such a late reply, sorry! I did nothing. Before you replied I flashed CM10.2 but never bothered to boot up my phone. Preparing to connect my phone to my comp, I couldn't start CWM so I figured " I'll just leave my phone plugged in for a few hours." Two hours later, my phone has a blank screen, i'm thinking "This shouldn't be blank? What the hell?." I pressed the power button and was greeted with Cid. I screamed out loud: "**** yeah!"
If people have the same problem as me all I did was: Reflash my my phone with 10.1, stock, 10.1 again, and then 10.2. I did that, only that.
What's funny is that I never checked to see if my phone was working after I flashed CM10.2. :silly:
Can't wait for Kit-Kat. Thank you for keeping up with my post, CROSSFREEZE I appreciate it!
Edit: I might submit a really specific and simplified version of the "Unlock Bootloader for Noobs P769" for the take of contributing.
