HELP!!!
I just bought a new Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and I attempted to root it via the instructions from XDA. Now all I get is a screen that says "Samsung GALAXY Tab 2 10.1"
Did I just screw this up or is there a way to reset it?
Somehow, I am hoping that this didn't totally screw it up.
I can get into the "Warning" screen. But that's all. When I try and shut it off, it comes back to the black screen with "Samsung GALAXY Tab 2 10.1"

I can not get it to display the 2 icons. By pushing the uo volume button and the on/off button, I get a big android icon. Under the android it says "Downloading... Do not turn off target!!
In the upper left corner, it says: ODIN MODE Product Name: GT-P5113 Custom Binary Download: YES (2 Counts) Current Binary: CUSTOM

sounds like your already in download mode?? If the galaxy tab 2 is the same as the original you need to press the power button and volume down button together and release the power button only when you see the samsung galaxy tab writing, that will then put you to the bootloader screen that shows the 2 icons which I think you mean.
You then press the volume up button to make your selection, if its on the android icon it will put you into download mode which then shows the warning sign which you then press the volume up button to get to the screen where it says downloading... do not turn off target!! This sounds like the point where you are at.
You then need to connect your tab to your pc and use odin
are you using these instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474971 ???

I was, but I am now stuck on the black screen with "Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.0".
I made it to here, but I don't have a SD card installed.
Put the Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_10.1_root.zip onto the ROOT of your SDCARD/USBSTORAGE.
Next we want to power the tab off.
With the Tablet off boot into Recovery Mode
Now I always Wipe/Data Factory Reset 3X, Wipe Cache 3X and Wipe Dalvik Cache 3X as well.
I do this because I'm anal and it's less chance of things going wrong with the flash so make sure you have everything backed up you need.
However wiping all this from CWM will NOT delete your SDCARD/USBSTORAGE.
After you have wiped everything........
Select Install zip from sdcard
What should I do next? Do I have an OS installed on my Tab?
scrap what I said, your in the wrong section, there is a different section for the galaxy tab 2 10.1 that you need to go to, read as many of the threads as possible to get a better understanding and make sure you follow the correct instructions for your model number. It's different to the original. One of the threads on there is this one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657056

I don't know what happened, but the TAB is back to normal. I downloaded a file from the link you gave and ran Odin again. Now it has Android 4.0.4 back on it. Thanks.

I have an unrooted samsung s III, gt-i9300 which does not enter download mode. I do have recovery mode and the phone operates fine in normal mode. I thought I had a backup, but I was wrong. I tried to use cf-auto-root to root the device, thinking it would be easy, and I think download mode got overlaid in the process.
Without download mode, I find I cannot use ODIN to restore/install anything.
I also find that I cannot use Kies. When I use Kies, on a windows system, I seem to always get prompted for drivers. I thought all the samsung usb drivers were included with Kies.
full system reset gets rid of my user data, but did not restore download mode.
Can I use recovery mode to restore my system either to stock mode or to jelly bean? The phone is new and I don't have anything on it that I need to preserve.
Thanks!
There's no way the phone works and recovery work, but no download mode, you must be doing something wrong
You have to press Vol - + Home Button + Power Button untill the download mode appears (ca. 10sec).
instead of download, recovery menu with red triangle

First off, thanks for the speedy response!
Here is exactly what happens when I try that:
1) at around 6 seconds, I see a green android on its back, with a red triangle above his exposed inner
2) this will stay there until I hit the home key (all other keys are disabled)
3) when I hit the home key, I see the "Android system recovery <3e>" menu
If I try to do wipe data/factory reset or wipe cache partition, the problem remains.
I was able to get into download mode once, when I tried to install cf-auto-boot, but not since.
thanks again!
Pete

yup... not volume up. I tried that one too, because I thought I was going nuts.
When I do this:
1) power off
2) pull battery
3) insert battery
4) press and hold volume UP
5) press and hold home button
6) press and hold power
7) wait 5 seconds then release all 3
I see a hardward diagnostic screen showing "factory mode" in a blue background and a list of types of diagnostic tests (full test, item test, test report, clear eMMC, Version, Reboot).

I (incorrectly) thought that the clone was identical to the samsumg gt-i9300.
firmware is IMM76D.I9300ZSALE9
sounds like I need to start researching the firmware. THANKS!
no firmware from xda will work for you
Seems you got a mediatek clone.
Not only they will not run the official operating system including aftermarket ones like Cm (completely different hardware) but they are less powerful and have less interesting hardware than the real S3.
Additionally they don't tend to live very long and have lots of issues.

Surely you must have seen you didn`t get a Samsung box with the seals intact as well as the bootupscreen that should say GT-I9300. And off course the price you payed must have been quite a bit lower than the real S3.
Right now all my tablet does is show the charging screen when plugged in. I can't get to the "Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1" boot screen unless it is plugged in, otherwise it will not respond to anything. Once it gets to the "Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1" boot screen, if I don't go to the "downloading..." + open envelope screen (using power + volume down) it will take a minute or so and then return to the charging screen. I am pretty sure this isn't a battery issue because I've unplugged it after getting to the "downloading..." + open envelope screen multiple long times (attempting to do something with Oden). Please please please help me at least restore it to the original firmware. I've tried multiple times using Oden but it always fails half-way through the Oden process.

Wipe cache and dalvik cache ( under advanced )..reboot. If that doent do it....see below..wait r you rooted...? If not..just go ahead and odin the stock gingerbread firmware...
Try a different version of Odin and the firmware that it came with...I'm talking when you got it... I know its a pain , but I've seen problems solved by going back to the original firmware...in this case...gingerbread..
After the Odin flash..and it boots. Let it set in..twenty minutes or so...then flash the latest ICS ROM from sammobile..
Let me know how it goes or if you have any questions...we are here to help..:good:
Hi,
This is my first post on XDA Forums
I was just playing around with my phone until I rebooted and pressed the keys
HOME+POWER. Then it asked me to Press the VOLUMEUP button to install a new ROM.
I pressed it and now the thing is stuck at Downloading...... Do not turn off target!!
I didn't root, neither I flashed a custom ROM, I was just trying to experiment,
There is some text on the left hand corner saying
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME GT-I9205
CURRENT BINARY SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS OFFICIAL
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT ENABLE
I have left it like that for about thirty minutes and its still stuck at Downloading Do not turn off target !!
The 2 exclamations make me more scared about turning the device off.
Is it normal? Also is it ok if I turn the device off ?

I have done
Download Odin 3 v1.85
Download v.4.04 - ITV - P7500XXLQ8-P7500OXALQ8 - Original
Start Odin. In Odin select only 'Auto Reboot' and 'F-Rreset.
Since it is the original firmware, there is not not a select: Re-Partition
Click the PDA button and select the firmware
Put the tablet to Downloading
Connect the tablet to the PC via the USB cable
Press the START button. And here we go ... until the first square box in Odin will turn green, indicating PASS
Go into recovery, factory reset and try again.

Hold down the power button + volume down button. That should lead you to the bootloader screen, where there's two options, one is download mode, the other is recovery mode. Select the recovery mode. From there, use the volume buttons to navigate to the factory reset option.

Then download the recovery from http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/roms/cm10.1/p4/ and flash it in Odin. Then wipe system, data, dalvik and cache this time.

S3 stuck at "Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-I9300" screen(Not usual samsung logo freeze)
Hey, I'll try to make this short.
had to make a recovery using odin. Then it started giving me error that I needed kies in order to finish the firmware upgrade.
I tried kies, nothing. I tried odin again and the phone is now stuck at that screen before the samsung logo. I don't know what to do... I used a pit file and a 3 file firmware that is compatible with my phone, from my coutry, and for my carrier...
I'm not sure if I can link videos but if I can I can show you my problem.
Can't get into recovery, not download mode (My power button was defective so I removed it, long ago before this started happening)
You need Download mode at least. You can still bump it into dl mode by holding vol and home as you insert the battery if you time it right. I think if you hold the buttons and then insert the battery?..
Then try flashing a stock rom via odin. Make sure your cable is good, preferably brand new and well seated.
Report back what happens.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
