ok... i know this has probably been asked about a million and twelve times....
But i was wondering if there was anyway to boost the FPS of 720p Video when recording.
not happy with just 14fps... or sometimes even 7!!
if anybody can help thanks
You should use the search option.
but it depends on your Rom/Firmware an if your rooted.

The fps you get is dependent on the lighting situation. If your only getting 14fps...that is under lower lighting. Outside on a bright day you can easily get 24fps. Which is where its capped. If someone tries to claim they get 30fps when shooting 720p i want to see proof.
i did try the search option but found nothing for 2.3. i was also wondering if there was anyway to make the frame rate a constant number instead of changing...
possible?
thanks

Not possible right now, otherwise it would have been done long ago.
I bought the Evo 3D on launch day, but returned it shortly after because I needed some money due to a sudden emergency. I am now thinking about buying it again. One of the issues i had was the camera flash made little to no difference in low light pictures. I have read in a few threads that a recent update fixed an issue with shutter lag, but have found nothing in regards to the flash issue. I would just like to know if the pictures in low light situations have improved with recent OTA updates.
I know people will say "its just a cell phone, buy a camera." I understand that completely. Im just trying to weigh my options as to what my next phone will be.
The flash has always helped me, update or not. it lights up what you're taking a pic of. Its impossible for it NOT to help. So yes, the flash works. The only problem with the camera prior to update that bugged me was the green tint. That's been resolved now though. No issues with that.
There is a camera mod floating around if you root that turns off the picture compression and adds a few new features (panorama, scene modes and hdr - except I see no difference with the hdr). Pics look worlds better without the compression, mostly noticeable on a larger screen.
I just wondered, because with my EVO 4G, I never really had problems taking pictures. I had tons of problems taking pics in even moderately low light with the 3D. I changed every setting possible. I just have to check it out. Thanks for your input

Hello! This is a request to all the developers for Galaxy S II. You probably already know that some Galaxy S II suffer from the problem of low-fps (stuttering) with low-light conditions. That is resolved with the firmware of the camera of the Samsung I997 (Infuse 4G), but putting this firmware, the LED flash does not work anymore. You can change the firmware?
The firmware does help is the SIEG03. Camera firmwares topic here on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098834&page=110
Thank you in advance if can help.

It would be great if some of devs look at this fw and changes what is problem so flash stop working
Indeed, i would be great +1
I sent a private message to Chainfire and email to Supercurio. I hope they meet!
Great thread! SC cameras are the ones that have low light framerate issue. If someone resolves the flash issue it will be great.
Is this the same thing as the low-light autofocus laggy thing?
I made a video at my friends birthday in a nightclub and it's crap! Had to delete it! Blurring and lagging every few seconds!
I know potatoman might do something about it but he's busy at uni now, I'm kinda surprised nobody has jumped on this issue. One of the big reasons I got the S2 was the camera...turns out it's not that good
Yes. Its that problem. And is laggy beacuse of some galaxy s2 camera modules have some bad firmware. The SIEGO3 fix the suttering in video but remove the led flash of the videos and we cant use it like assisted lamp for autofocus. If someone implement in the firmware, our problem is solved.
+1
It would be great! Thanks
Maybe someone who knows cyanogen can tell him to tell samsung to fix it. I mean he does work for them now

Its that problem.
Chainfire didn't respond to private message. Even Supercurio. ...someone "knows" Cyanogen?...

Maybe Samsung are aware of the framerate issue... they should be considering how many of us have this problem, but before they can release the firmware it proberly need to be tested ect so takes time.
Im using the infuse 4G firmware & more than happy to plod along with it, until a fix is released by either a Dev or Samsung.
I had a Galaxy S before i got the S2, so having no light in video isn't to much of a problem for me, the camera flash works which is more important, even without the pre focus light the camera still locks on 99% of the time in low light.
TBH that pre focus light of the orginal cam firmware was annoying as hell to some people, as it use to blind them before the flash kicked in lol.
Anyways im happy with having constant 30fps in either 720p or 1080p without any framerate problems.
The well-known dev's are unlikely to respond to PMs as they'd get hundreds\thousands a day, mostly from noobs, so unless they're from people they already know, I wouldn't expect a response. Plus a lot of them don't frequent XDA as it's turned into a noobfest where the "popular" devices are involved.
You could try posting over on the Cyanogen forums.
Steve (Cyanogen) is not likely to be in a position to "tell" Samsung to fix anything, and certainly not for a device that is as old as the SGS2 is now.
You could try logging a fault with Samsung themselves, they have been known to respond, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Ok but when I paid the phone, my money worked very well and did not need to decrease the exposure!

The same for me! I don't feel a strong lack of flash, but can be useful with app. that use it like "Tiny Flashlight" etc.

In fact already figured that nobody would respond! shame! I just hope that they look, at least, the topic!
I guess that's that then. Nokia WP7 here I come. At least I know it will have a good camera.

Personally I'm happy with the GS2 camera! And in my opinion, is not this little difficulty make it worse!

Just a heads up that while I'd love to help with this, I don't experience the issue myself, so I wouldn't even be able to test if my fix would work or not. I'm also not comfortable with my code being flashed- my firmware modding capabilities are limited at best... and flashing a bad camera firmware can be irreversible.
Sorry guys, good luck finding someone else who can help though.
I know the sensation is fairly close to the rezound.. anyone think something like this may be possible?

Almost positive Joel will be adding it to his next BAMF release.
That would be icing on the cake.
Is this the same thing or different ?

That is kind of the same thing I had both mods on my sensation. Both looked good but I liked the BR one better.

I'm more excited about this mod than anything else with this phone. And that's saying a LOT.

This would be amazing on our phones! I too am more excited about this mod than any other. I use my camera a lot!
If it corrects for the pops and squeaks during video recording, then that would be icing on the cake. True 30fps recording would great too. I've had pretty severe frame-rate drops during recording.
I went ahead and installed the program and it appears to work. I get larger JPG images and 1080 video at higher bitrates. A few things though. The icons at the bottom are physically lower on the screen so the text on the bottom gets cut off. The button to the gallery doesn't work from video mode but appears ok from camera mode. The effects appear to work too. This is just my preliminary findings.
I'm on CleanRom 4.1 without any of the mods.
Edit: xsnapshot, I haven't noticed the pops and squeaks since the radio update in January. I didn't notice any on the test video I took, but it was only for 10 secs so I'm not sure. I'll take a longer video later and see if I can hear the pops and squeaks.
Edit2: Not sure why you linked to an Engadget post when the original post is in XDA. Here it is so you can get the app. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1533238
I installed this yesterday and haven't had any issues with it. I have not used my Rezound camera enough to really notice a difference. I guess I should have taken a before and after pick to see if the file size changed much.
I didn't flash it. Opened the zip up and pushed each item to my phone.
I did take a picture of some clouds yesterday evening. File size was 2.62MB
Installed this tonight, my photo file sizes are huge now, though I've not seen a huge difference in 1080p video quality. I'll do some outdoor testing tomorrow, to see if there is a difference.
I'll try to post some results if I get around to it

Out of curiosity... can this be undone
if you reflash a rom without it, yeah lol...
this doesn't do anything for video, btw guys..in joels rom it didn't, anyway. still recorded at around 8mbps, wouldn't ever hit above that to get even near 20...photo's seemed to work uncompressed though; they're bigger in size
Ok, ive done some searching and im fairly sure there isnt a thread addressing this, but if im wrong i apologize.
The issue im having is what appears to be slightly low FPS in video playback, primarily HD video. I have The Smurfs (yup, grown man with The Smurfs as his test video, long story) and it is a Blu-Ray rip, 720p. When i play the video back its slightly choppy in some places and then extremely choppy in others. The only way to describe it is as if the framerate is dropping too low in some places. Now, i have tried a couple other rips and they do the same thing.
At first i thought it was my source files, like i did something wrong when ripping them, so i took the exact same files and put them on my Atrix, a bone stock Atrix with no OC or anything, and playback is flawless, i mean its gorgeous.
Here is what ive tried and nothing has worked. Ive copied the videos from my SD card to the phones internal storage. Ive tried multiple video apps including Dice and MX Player, also attempted going from HW to SW encoding. Nothing seems to help at all.
Is this something nobody else is seeing? Could it be a codec issue? I mean, is the default player on the Atrix and the supported Codecs different than that on the Note? I truly dont know which is why im asking. Any help would be appreciated. Ive only had the phone for four days, so exchanging isnt an issue, but pointless if the problem is going to persist.

I will chime in as another that has the smurfs. ..no chopiness but I am using a custom Rom
Are you stock or rooted with a Rom?
On stock both my copy of lmfao sexy and i know it and the smurfs were choppy in spots
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
I am running stock and unrooted. I realize the benefits of both I just haven't taken the plunge yet. Mainly because I want to make sure the phone is working properly before I do that way if I need to exchange it I can go right in and do it. No need to unroot and revert to stock.
This phone is supposed to be a powerhouse and with its specs, well, it should be able to do anything the Atrix can. So far I'm EXTREMELY happy with every other aspect of the phone but this video playback issue could very well make me want to jump off the bandwagon if its a common issue.
Also this choppiness that I'm seeing is constant and at some points it gets worse but its always there.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I see the same thing in HD clips. Also coming from the Atrix where I never saw anything like that. Neither phone was rooted or overclocked.
Just another one of the few quirks I've seen on this phone. I am hoping that the first system update (whenever that will be) will correct a lot of these minor things.
