Hey all,
The only thing about the Touchpad I dont particularly like is the battery usage when shutdown, considering that it takes 30s to start from cold I was wondering if there is an app which "after say 3hrs of non use+not being charged", it automagically shutdown the tablet...
That would be a useful app...
Im sure this has already been done but I cant find it..

Do you mean you don't like battery usage when in standby? If so there is an app called Automatelt which I use to shutdown my Touchpad when the battery level drops below a certain % .
Otherwise with Randomking's Rom I only lose between 1 or 2 % an hour when in standby.
Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Hello everyone,
From yesterday i started facing a strange issue due to which i am experiencing serious battery draining issues.
My battery started draining 1-2% every 5 min in idle mode after i played a game named crazy fist . next day i factory resetted my phone. In idle now it is not consuming any power but when i do some work on my phone , it consumes alot of battery and it.drins like 1% every 2-2.5 min.
Charging time is normal. But discharge is pretty fast.
So i checked thr battery usage inside settings.and noticed that my display is consuming about 41% of the battery and android os arnd 13%. I am not sure qbout os usage but thr diaplay is consuming too much power. I think initially it used to consume 13-20(max)%.
Or is the usage correct? I am using sgs2 stock midel and have no intentions to root it.
Kindly assist and reply asap. Thanks in.advance,
Siddhanth
the display on the galaxy s2 does drain alot of battery if your using it for quite a while..thats what they call screen on time..my battery was draining fast and i panicked... when you do use your phone how long do you use it? say do you use to browse like for a good hour non stop?
if you was rooted i could of gave you some options but here is a link to help you read and give you some tips on battery life...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1234264
charge your phone fully and drain it without switching it off..charge it again without taking it off charger i say leave it for a good few hours...do the same thing for a few charging cycles and see what the battery like is after that..but check the link
But this strange thing happened to me aftrr 1month.
I wss never rooted.
I mean this is the first time my display is consuming 59-61% of the overall battery. is this normal and does it hsppen to u too?

i thought the same as you buddy. never realised it in the start when i had my s2 but then checking the battery usage and i panicked...its normal for the display to drain the battery alot..
change your brightness to auto and there is an option in settings and display where you can tick to have the display autoadjusted. thats for brightness..
or do what i do and have your brightness on the lowest settings and see how it goes from there...fully charge your battery let it say for 6 hours then let it drain till it dies down without any breaks and then charge it again to the max..do the same thing for a few times and check whats the battery after a few days...

when calibrated your phone you leave it on of course and charge it without any interuptions...when you let it drain with out any breaks like switching it on and off, once it dies down then plug to charge it.....it will charge and it will give you the battery icon...once its fully charged you can see by the battery when its fully green switch your phone and your good to go...

but download the app first
Thanks, i tried it todsy but it says root needed.
I have a stock rom. and i dont want to change the rom before my warranty period gets over.

Hello guys I'm having a battery leak but i dont know which app/s is draining my battery i go to battery status and i only see
Phone idle 55%
Display 20%
Voice calls 11%
call standby 11%
android os 2%
Flipboard 2%
not sure if these stats help!
... but im sure that some background apps draining it , any idea how to discover the leak and deal with it ? i dont use 2g/3g gprs , Bluetooth or anything like that only wifi and not for a long time I'm running 2.3.4 un-rooted atrix4g with go launcher please help and thanks for your time
Have you checked another battery? I think that's an hardware problem dude =/
BTW you can try CPUspy and Battery Monitor Widget
I hope that helps.
Thanks im gonna try Battery Monitor Widget i got problem parsing package with CPU spy anyway how could it be a hardware problem ?
try advanced task killer and kill the unwanted apps . That will save battery . And i dont think that this is hardware problem .

OK. I think the battery life of your phone is shorted or it's broken but you can also try "BateryBetterStats" to see what process are draining more battery on your phone.
Task killers are not recommended on most on cases to use in Android SO.
Guys i was on like 20% battery today and i restarted my device to found that im back to 50% !! how come ?
Edit: turning off background data wont make so much difference

Been using s3 abt 2 weeks solid fone but i got one issue battery life on it sucks! funny thing when im using it for the web, video, etc the battery holds up pretty well but its the standby time thts killing it. I charge my fone full everynite wake up next morning and the battery's down to 56% jus on standby!! with nfc off s-voice off just wifi on. Am i only one experiencing this or is this normal?
you have something else going on i lose 2% overnight...try airplane mode see what happens
I think your charger may be broken lol. You charge it every night yet your phone is at 53% when you wake up? Anyway, assuming you sleep 8 hours and that your phone was at 100% that is less than 50% on 8 hours. You probably get 17 hours standby time, not the best but not the worst. Try airplane mode

think you are alone... Yesterday, beach day: From ten o clock with 100% brightness, about 40 minutes surfing with dolphin browser, total in amount 35 minutes facebook, 30 sms, 9 calls all about 2-6 minutes and some recording of the soccer game; the rest of the time the phone was on standby. Coming home with 80% left....
what says your battery settings? what stands by "battery in standby"? How much takes "android system", how many apps are listed in total? Do you have battery save mode on?=> Try to turn it off. Do you have auto brightness? Turn it off, set the display to 40-50% and make a widget on home with settings to 100% so you can read under heavy sun. You are outside the day?=> turn the wifi off....
Tell us more and post your results, the comment that your device is a bucket full of crap is bull**** because the S3 has one of the best battery and settings in smartphone business!...
Greetings,
Snew

no-one can give you a legit answer as you haven't bothered to tell us anything about what rom/kernel you are using, what you have installed, whether you have any syncs switched on..
why leave wifi on overnight? thats gives apps the chance to update in the background
have you looked at bbs stats?
fail thread imo
You sleep with your wifi on? what do you expect to happen? Also try rebooting before you go to bed.

now i would like to know how you get that because mine drops from 100% (99%) to 95% in just an hour on 3g but nothing else..
I think you have a defective battery. Mine just drains 2-3% in a 8-10 hour overnight standby.
I hate when people assume something sucks when it's their own doing that's causing the problem.

I still suspect this may be router related though. When I had my crappy Netgear, I would get strange periods of battery drain on my SGS2 when WIFI was left on. That just about all disappeared once I upgraded to an Asus RT-N16 running Tomato, and now, I don't get any drain on my SGS3 as well when I leave WIFI (set to "Always On" under Advanced WIFI Settings) idling.

I too think it's router related. It can possibly be due to Wifi dual banding in some routers that support it. Faster internet with less battery life.
Hey,
I could not find a thread like this via the search bar, so I am opening one up. How much battery does your stock S3 consume by just lying there? I am losing about ten percent overnight, which seems a bit too much for me. Is that normal?
Thanks!
Wait till you get about 70 percent discharge overnight then you'll have something to worry about.

If you searched or read the multiple battery threads then you would have found that yes it is normal .
All depends upon what running .

At night I turn off wifi and data, my battery drops 3%, with data on and wifi off about 5% ( about 8 hours)
Based on reviews on the net it is possible to get it drop 6% in 16 hours with data and wifi on, not getting to this myself but happy enough.

It is very normal for Stock rom to consume that much battery.. However you can save more battery by going into Wifi > advanced > Keepy wifi on during sleep > Select Only when plugged in... Plus disabling wake up commands such as the ones for S Voice, or Google Now can increase battery life upto a great extent.
Also try turning off location services for apps that you don't use that often or the ones that don't really require location services that much.
I had 10 to 15% drop the night, after installing Chrome (because of google sync issue)
but after removed it.. im back to 6-7%
Anyway Dolphin is better
I can only say from memory ...

I can only say from memory - a very clean S3 should get at most 2-3% discharge overnight (even with WiFi, data, BT and GPS started). That might no longer be achievable once you have a number of programs that interact and keep the CPU from staying into deep sleep.
Currently I am seeing at most 1-2% with my configuration - but that involves closing the 4 above before going to bed.(and to get to that point I had to drop a number of programs that were bad in this regard).
Do your own tests with that - look around after BetterBatteryStats.apk or something like that!

Can I ask what your current configuration is?
I am currently running Omega v32.1 with the stock kernel.
I hardly use my phone during the day as I am at work for 12 hours, maybe send a few texts. 3g and sync are always on
I take it off charge at 5.30AM and when I get home at like 8PM it is down to less than 10%... and thats not even heavy use.
I have calibrated the battery using that batterycalibrate app for root users..
Hi.
I have used lots of roms to find out what the problem was but did not solved it.
My battery drains from 100 to 85 very very fast.
I mean 10 percent in 1 hour :crying:
No matter what kernel or rom i use.
Then again it wont go to 100 percent its like 96-97.
Is there a fix ?
I already bought a new battery and a new charger.
Same results with the charger of my wife s3 mini.
anyone have a suggestion before i trow it away and buy a note 2 ?

Its idle as i am on wifi and mobile date it both suck..
Nothing strange to see with better battery stats.
EDIT : i pulled the battery for 10 minutes and charged it with phone off.
It looks like its not losing percents now,
The only problem is why it not goes to 100 percent.
I installed the rom this morning.
Does it automaticly goes to 100 after a few charges?
And it started to drain again.
Anyone have a clue ?

Check Your Battery Stats. .. download a battery stats app and check which app is causing the most drainage. .. There was a media scanner bug sometime back. . Maybe It's That. . If It Is, There Are Fixes For It Here. Good luck

Try BetterBatteryStats or GSAM. BBS is better but not free. I use this. i have a widget on my homescreen at all times.
You may just need to go through a full charge cycle to get it to 100%. It's just that the new ROM thinks that 100% is 97%. A couple of charges / drains will sort it.
