my IMEI number, registered Null / Null - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Hello everyone,
I have a device Galaxy S3 GT-I9300
I bought it 2 months ago and I changed Rom "Omega" with Odin.
Everything worked fine until two days ago, the device did not respond, and you have activated it again then it gets stuck on the logo of samsung galaxy when the device exceeds
I tried to make him come back a week earlier but is not up for anything
Only the first reconstruction of the original system where the IMEI is not working
When I dial * # 06 # then it will not display my IMEI number, registered Null / Null.
There's something strange about seeing ...
When I press the Power button of the device so he did not ask me if I want to close the device or restart or other options
Is straight off me
I do not have a backup of the EFS
I read a lot of comments and try to solve it posts on the forum but could not find anything that helped me
:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
How can I fix it please? Please help me.

Hi, I'm a i9300 which lost efs folder, already tried restoring it through the box octopus, but at the time of writing the imei, it reports the error. (Write imei fail). Anyone have any idea what I can do?

Tried flash stock rom?

Yes i tried.. ( KIES, ODIN and Octopus Box ) and stay IMEI NULL

I have had some luck with this by taking and putting my phone in download mode then using the kids to up grade from here. I am using the European Kies and it finds the right software and last time replace service code back to TTT. Attached a couple of screenshots.

OP, have you manage to fix the problem? My S3 i9300 went to the water and now it dosent recognize sim cards and has the imei null and base band unknown problem. I am desperate. Can some please help me? Thank you.
André

Its usually worth checking OP recent posts before asking in an old old thread . The OP has not posted since this date and is probably no longer active .

My question was directed to anyone who could possibly help me, not just the OP. Notice the "can someone help me?" sentence. It's usually worth reading carefully before answering to someone.

The point is you are hijacking a thread that's nearly a year old already. Second, you posted on the wrong thread. This is the general forums not the Q&A section. Third, the water damage on your phone has mostly corroded your sim contacts that's why it can't recognize your sim. Either you bring it to Samsung for repair or you need to buy a new one.

Ok guys, thanks for your help

help needed: galaxy sIII on generice imei 004999010640000

hi,
s3 with a generic imei no. 004999010640000. its showing no service.
upon researching here, i found either the phone could be blocked (due to reported stolen) or messed up due to rom flashing.
whats the way forward ? can it still be useable ?
no efs folder backup is there.
your help in the matter would be highly appreciated.
many thanks and regards
Naufil:
Every question should be in Q&A Section, this is Android Development.
Edit since the thread has been moved.
Moved to Q/A, the development section is not the right place to ask questions.

Without a /efs backup you can't restore the IMEI.
First thing is report it to local police to cover yourself, then if you have the original box and proof of purchase go to Samsung and explain what has happened ie. You lost your imei, and they can restore it, if the phone isn't stolen that is.
If you bought this phone in good faith, then also take steps to resolve it with eBay or however you bought it.
If however it was a cheap deal of a dodgy mate.....well you live and learn.
Edit:
Woopsie! Was thinking out loud! Luckily nobody heard me but you

Spoon feeding is not allowed here.
If you're a Android n00b and want to know how to root or flash custom or stock roms I suggest you do some reading/research. We have plenty of Q&A and guides that cover this.
Asking "how do I root" is a silly question to ask because its already been asked and answered so just look/read.
If you lost somehow your IMEI number(0 under *#06#), rooting the device won't help.
First, before any movement, backup your data and then restore defaults. Maybe it's some king of bug?
Settings->backup &restore -> restore defaults, erase memory.

yea i did type *#06# but imei is not showing up . its empty!! its not a bug. its a corruption in the imei ... i have no idea what to do now
First, relax. Its just a phone.
If the phone is still under warrenty - get it replaced/fixed for free where you bought it from.
If not, try to recover the iemi like it's explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264021

well i checked out the link . but i dont get the cmd, adb shell part .. the whole 8th point i dont get it ???.
If you don't get it, there isn't anything further anyone here can do to help you. Send it to a Samsung service centre/authorised repairer, or ask local mobile repair shops. This is not something you're going to fix yourself.

hmmm.. well i went to them . they asked me to change the motherboard whith a total cost of 800 dhs.. which my parents wont give
CMD is command line - like MSDOS or Linux terminal. ADB is not something that you'll get by asking questions and getting answers, you need to read about it and understand it. It will take you a couple of days to figure it out.
I'd try going to several different phone shops/labs. Hopefully they will diagnose the problem without replacing the entire PCB. It's worth a shot.
If every shop says that you must replace the board, ask around. Maybe one of your friends knows someone who is able to fix this.
From what you described it seems like water damage or other hardware fault.

If you want anyone to -try to- help you get your phone back you should at least consider searching for easy questions.
Check what ROM you are on and perform a search at xda or google (or both).
Now, are you sure warranty is voided? if it was 2 years you still got time....If you root your devices, warranty will be off the table for you.
Seat back and get you sh*t together, take a long breath and then report back to see what's up.

Hi all,
I have exactly the same issue on my Galaxy S2 on Vodaphone in the UK. It's out of warranty and not rooted. I did an IOS upgrade to ICS v4.0.3 and at that point it shows no signal and the IMEI no. is blank after dialing *#06#. Somehow it has lost/corrupted the IMEI no. during the upgrade.
Is the only way to recover the IMEI no. to root the phone? Or is there another method?
Thanks all!
An iOS upgrade ? No wonder you borked your IMEI
Go to Samfirmware, find the latest stock rom for your carrier/country. Flash it with Odin. How ? Search/read/learn. If you're lucky, yours is a case where the IMEI disappearing is a transient thing & doing a 'good' flash of stock (as opposed to the update that obviously barfed in some way - I presume you're talking about an OTA update as opposed to something you did manually ?) might well fix the problem. We've seen a number of similar problems on here lately.
If you're unlucky, you're SOOL & it ain't coming back. Rooting it isn't going to magically fix it unless you have an EFS backup, which you won't have if you're someone who's never rooted their phone. Take it to a local mobile repair shop, they may be able to help. A Samsung service centre/authorised repairer will also fix it for you regardless of the warranty status, they'll just charge you more than a local mobile shop who isn't an authorised Samsung repairer will, likely.
Thank you for your response! I took the S2 to a phone repair shop, the guy tried flashing it back to stock IOS but this failed. He ended up replacing the motherboard, all fine now. Would like to find out the safest way to upgrade the IOS to Jelly Bean now, it's currently running Gingerbread v2.3.3. Any advice appreciated, in the meantime will do some reading up.
Thanks all, great forum!

The model is GT-I9100, I managed to successfully upgrade the IOS to 4.1.2 using Kies. Perhaps I should've done that first time around instead of selecting Settings-About Device-Software Update over Wifi - which resulted in the phone losing it's IMEI no.
Many thanks for the replies!

Hi guys,

i know that in this forum there are some topics about this problem, but it is very difficult for me find them...

Look for the serial, if it starts with 00000 or something like that, you nees to use Ariza Patch.

If it helps...
...my wife had this problem last week. Phone was saying that it was not registered on Network. Looked around on the net, checked settings on phone and found that if you turn the phone off for a few minutes and back on, it re-registered to the network. Very basic, don't know why it did it, but it's now OK

About the other solution, i'm going to try it but i don't think it will work for me..
Is there a final solution? It is impossible that we can't solve the problem..

This worked for me after flashing S4 Revolution ROM V5, thank you i've got my IMEI back.

[Solved]IMEI has changed, No Network, No Phone Calls (Any Suggestions?)

My IMEI was 353************** and changed to 0499901********. So I am not able to make any phone calls right now.
I have no idea how it happened. I am flashing ROMS for 8 months. I have no EFS backup because i didn't know how much important it was [I AM REALLY STUPID ]
I know 049999**** is a test imei. In every forum there is a solution for SGS / SGSII. There are things for SGS3 but threads are very old like 5-6 months ago and they don't work...
I've tried installing softwares called NsPro or Samsung Tools. But I know they need some special stuffs and they are not free..
I've tried stock roms, modified Roms, kernels, modems after this happened.(Yesterday i was on 4.2.2 now 4.0.4)
So i gave up
Is there any suggestions? Any help way ? Because if I can't find any solution until tomorrow, I'll give the phone to technical service and i don't like it.
Last time I gave my phone to the service it took 25 days and they changed the motherboard with new IMEI (Nokia C7)
And the most important question : Can I update my phone if technical service fixes it? Android 4.2.2 original firmware or 4.3 , 5.0 in the future?
Sorry for bad English.I live in Turkey,Istanbul if there is anyone who can contact me.
Thanks!

Good your issue was resolved. It is always bettwe to keep a back up of efs folder. nv_data_bin would have corrupted which restored on another flash of ROM and you are lucky. Most of the time flashing an unsuitable kernel would lead to this problem.

basically yes, already tried everything I found on the Internet and nothing to solve, even thought it was a physical problem, because once I was very nervous and threw up on the floor and made a small spot on the LCD, but after all that did he stopped but it is losing the signal, but when I take the chip even then he warns that without this chip so discartei the physical problem, and was not even on the same day that gave trouble was a few weeks later and I believe it has acid coincidence

If I understood correctly I have read the posts before opening a new one, however I already read both xda and fix so many problems, but this still can not solve and already a while since I've been looking and so far found nothing, if have a post for my problem that I have not done I thank you and I apologize, because xda is very good and has so much information that can be left up to spend and what would solve me.
can anyone help me?
