VZW update - HTC Rezound

I just got an email from VZW "Your HTC Rezound™ can do more with the Android 4.0 software update." Isn't that old news or did I miss something?

I was wondering the same thing. The PDF they link to says:
Verizon Wireless is pleased to announce a new software upgrade, 3.14.605.12 710RD, for your HTC Rezound.™
This update includes an upgrade to the Android Operating System 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and HTC Sense 3.6.

So it appears this isn't a new update. Just a routine email.
Its a shame they didn't ever update to 4.0. Its not like this phone can't handle it.

They don't update it to sense 4 for a reason. They want people to buy newer phones to get the newer software

I also got that email - maybe it was sent to all Rezound owners who never officially upgraded via VZW's OTA?

Really? The email I got was for the Droid DNA.

same, i got a dna email.

I got both emails
Trying to sell me the DNA, and telling me about an update that's one behind the leak I'm running, and has already been pushed. Or so I thought.

I hope its soon. It looks like my tablet (Xoom) is going to be updated to Jelly Bean before my phone can be updated to Ice Cream Sandwhich.... SMH
All I see now is
HTC SYNC 3.0.5617 FOR HTC Rezound | 01.17.2012
Which is not the same thing.
I think it is a test by HTC to see how many forum threads can get started each time they make a change to their site. Then they remove the notice.
Been playing with a Nexus 7 all day... Jelly Bean is pretty cool, but I'm not starving for it on my Rezound. ICS is good enough for me and I prefer Sense anyway.
There just messing with us, at this rate we'll be lucky to see an ota by christmas or ever... they probably just keep promising it so people looking at buying a new phone won't choose another phone that already has ics.
Saw nobody mention this but in this site
http://www.htc.com/us/smartphones/htc-rezound-verizon/
Under specs, it states the 3.14.605.10 710RD as their current version. It's been like this for a few days. It'll be funny if it comes out 7/20 and kept giving us the 6/20 as a hint ;-P

That is the current software version.
Content on that page keeps changing. Now (7/19/2012, 12:07) all HTC shows is the link for HTC SYNC from 1/17/2012.
I agree with the suggestions of some posters' in the forum that these are hints at what is happening behind the scenes between HTC and Verizon.
I'm hoping to see an official ICS OTA before the end of the month, but I sure won't be holding my breath. At least when it does, that presumably gets us a step closer to getting source released.
Here are the links at HTC and Verizon that I've used to check for releases.

And the wait continues...
Looks like it really is official. The Verizon support page says it's coming soon, with a changelog and instructions.

...4.2?...anyone have any follow-ups on it?

I never owned HTC products before, so I don't know how long it takes for them to update their phones, but I don't see any posts about Jellybean 4.2 here...I'm not desperate for it since I am getting all my needs already, but I'm just curious of when it would officially be release.

afaik no oem skins have been update to 4.2, yet...though there was a gs3 4.2.1 leak for the intl version
id imagine the m7 would be the first of the htc phones to see 4.2, and probably the dna/butterfly/one x+ will see it....id think older htc phones that that, wont
Usually it's not so much a manufacture thing, it's a carrier thing. HTC most likely already has 4.2 running... verizon is probably declining the update because their bloatware isn't working nice with htc's nice coding or something... If OEM doesn't have the update I'm sure it's in the works, you just have to hope VZW will push it or it leaks.

I just (Sunday) unlocked and rooted my Amaze (flashed recovery to CWM), disabled some T-Mo fluff, and updated Google Apps. (edit) Removed HTCLinkifyDispatcher (why oh why didnt I do this months ago). Otherwise pure stock. Remind me where the update .zip will reside, and I'll pull it off and Dropbox it for everyone.
I believe my Amaze is at 2.14.531.3 (is that the recent update to Personalization app?). Personally I think 2.14.531.3 vs 2.14.531.30 is really damned confusing, mathematically.

Nope, I didn't see the updated date. However, the last release was 4.03, so I'm doubting there is much here. I'm on NRG though, and will make a note in that thread in case there is something for NRG to update.

Indeed 4.1.2 and 1.27.531.7 is what we are stuck with....
Just called T-Mobile and the woman saw nothing about the updates in their system...
She said if you can download the update and apply it from HTC's website that would work, but rooting and using different software would break the warranty.

The rep would not know anything except an update currently in the pipeline, that is, already heading our way. Only someone at Tmo corporate headquarters would know the strategic deployment strategy, and they do not talk. TMO tends to release updates later than other companies.
t-mobile tends to release updates not at all...
a few years ago my smartphone was updated for all carriers except t-mobile. everyone went up an android version while I did not.
who cares how much difference it makes... t-mobile is clearly lazier about updating than other companies and need a push to do so.

Well, for my Amaze 4G, they released the upgrade to ICS after about 5 months. And then very recently they did another upgrade, which would be almost a year later. But that first major update wasn't that late.
The way I look at it, if you're using these forums, you shouldn't have to wait for carrier updates. HTC did announce that an update is in the works.

Followed up on your claim that any official dates have been confirmed, they haven't. Most recent information as stated by HTC is target 2nd week of April. That's not a confirmation of any specific date especially since the update is with Verizon right now to get final certification. If you have specific information from a source to say otherwise please post.
Agreeing with xlxcrossing. Everything i see shows the 2nd week of April. if you have diff info please share. otherwise here is where i got my info.

I'm sure resources could have been but at the same time Google said it was a low percentage of devices that even have that version. I'd like to say it was like 1-3% or something that low so it probably wasn't too high on the list to fix. I do think their is a patch they have out though
There's been some subtle info coming through the pipeline but week of 21st (now) is the adjusted time for target release. Hopefully some of you will get the OTA notification soon. This isn't a guarantee by any means, we all know the update process through Verizon historically has always been massively delayed at times when dealing with older devices. Its not like HTC or Verizon though to give constant updates pushing it week to week. They already did their 3 month postponement so I think its legit at this point.

Noob Question please!
Guys, a noob here. Just caught the news about KK coming over to Droid DNA. I have an unlocked version running Viper DNA 1.3.5 on Android version 4.1.1 with Sense 4.
Will I get notification of the KK update OTA since I'm in Canada and hence not running on Verizon's network and secondly, if I do the update, will I be able to run the ViperDNA as a dual boot option or is it even worthwhile to do that?
Thanks in advance folks!!!
