[Q] Phone dead after turn off - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, :fingers-crossed:
Ok, Here the situation.
My friend just got his S2 i9100. After around 5-6 hours phone in idle mode, he decided to change sim card. So he turn off phone, change sim card and turn on back but phone not turn on. It’s completely DEAD. Yea, can't access to download mode or cwm, just a black screen. The phone cannot be in charge when the cable is connected. Tried many way likes unplug the battery, do a soft reset, hard reset and many others but phone did not give any reaction. Just I said before, it completely dead.
So we decided to send it to the shop. They said, there a problem with the IC inside the phone.

His S2 is running Rootbox rom with Dori kernel. Before this he also had flashed RR rom, Omega rom, siyah kernel. The phone comes with firmware 4.0.3. He never flash firmware 4.0.4.
So here, i want to ask, is this kind of problem occur because of flashing rom and kernel? Or it’s totally because of bad hardware?
Thanks

It is a hardware issue, flashing may effect the screen but it should not affect the charging. the phone should charge wether it is on or off.

[Q] I need some serious help/guidance!

It all started when i tried to root my Samsung Galaxy S2.
I tought it was to confusing to use the long way of rooting so i used to supercurio auto root kernel. I followed the instructions and everything went fine, but when the phone rebooted (like it said it would) it got frozen at the Yellow Triangle boot screen. After this i tried to flash many different kernels without luck, i tried to flash firmware roms aswell but that didn't work either.
The battery seems to be depleted and there is no way for me to open the Download Mode.
Im really new to the android world and i would be the happiest man in the world if i could possibly get the right answers.
P.s! When my phone actually had battery i couldn't open the Recovery Mode
No download mode then you need the USB recovery jig ebay/Google .
With a charged battery .
jje
But i can't charge it since the phone is stuck at the empty battery icon with the looping circle in it (which is stuck aswell). The phone just gets hotter when i try to charge it but i doesn't do any good at all
I think you'll just have to buy a jig and find a way to charge the battery again.
Maybe you can try a full battery from a friend?
Or charges yours in the Galaxy S II of a friend.
After that just try to reflash en wipe everything in cwm.
Good luck!
OKey, thanks for the reply but what does the USB jig really do? I have heard that it only boots the phone into download mode. But even if that works it still wont get the phone to operate as it should since i tried to flash different kernels before when i had battery left.
If i charge the phone right now, it will first show me the empty battery and then it just reboots back to the battery icon. If i press Volume down - Home - Power button it just says that i have to low battery and that it wont go into download mode. Recovery mode has not worked since the first time i tried to flash to Supercurio's auto kernel.
Plz help!
The experts should explain it better but the jig I think allows you to write data directly to the nand. There should be external chargers for the s2, you could try searching for that too.
I suppose what you should take away from this is that it pays to avoid shortcuts. I'm pretty sure it says on the cf thread that the auto root doesn't work on the phone.

Maybe you should try once more flashing a complete stock rom with repartion and pit.
A jig just puts your device into download mode.
It is very cheap on Ebay.
I don't think it is smart to try charging.
I once had a problem like this with the original Galaxy S .
I went to shop where I bought the phone and asked for a battery.
Just try to get a full battery and jig.
I think that is your only chance...
Good luck!
Have you tried letting it charge for some while? The S2 gets a little hot when charging so thats probably not a problem, if i were you i would let it charge for an hour or so and then try to enter download mode again
Thanks but if i plug the phone in with the charger nothing really happens. On the screen it's just a empty battery and within that battery there is some kind of circle that should be swirling but it is frozen, therefor i dont think the phone is actually getting any power...
Even if i set it up with a USB jig and a new battery, what kind of kernel should i use? And should i flash it with a new firmware?
I really have no clue on this one.
The phone only reacts to the button combination regarding download mode, but whilst in there it just says "low battery !! Can't download !!" and that's it.
Any more advices? I will die of happiness if someone helps me with this!
Thanks.
Looks like you need a service centre
or flash stock rom via Odin after accessing download mode via buttons or recovery jig .
You dont want a kernel you want full new stock firmware .
jje
Yea i got that now, but i live in sweden and before all of this i tried the swedish firmware version and it just says FAIL! in Odin.. im sure it would work out if i could get the firmware to reset the phone, which it does right? I guess i should fix me a battery since it seems i can't charge it properly. Any one who could explain it more detailed? It would help me alot.

[Q] bricked phone

my phone is dead! suddenly it turn it self off and didnt wake up any more...
i tried all the button combination without success , and i ordered a factory cable and again nothing happened when i plug it in, when it happened my phone just lie down on the table next to me, not in a middle of a flash process , my question is i had root on my phone and a different official rom from the one i got the phone with, i want to send the phone back to the store, i afraid that if they fix it they will see that i have root and different rom, someone sent the phone with root? what they will do? charge me? any suggestion what to do?
Have you tried charging it?
Also if it won't turn on even with a factory cable that would mean that the phone is screwed. Therefore they won't be able to turn it on and see that it rooted an ROM'd.
Hope I helped

S2 refusing to turn on

Hi. i have got my s2 since 10 months and no hassle. however since yesterday, the screen wont turn off and i could not make it turn on again using the home key. finally it completely switch off and i could not switch it on(neither soft or hard reset helped).
I just left in with the wall charger. nothing on the screen but once the battery was full, it vibrated and i could switched it on. it worked flawlessly for the day but now while i was using gtalk, same thing happened and i could not switched it on.
what could be the problem? i am an international user and bought the s2 from unlocked-mobile.com.
kindly note that i made no tweaking nor any custom firmware nor installed any new software. i only reecntly removed go launccher.
kindly help me please
if download mode works then u can flash ,or in recovery mode factory wipe.....yes forgot does it show charging batt icon ,wile charging?
Charge battery .
backup data factory reset phone ..
That fails try another battery .
That fails try Samsung service centre .
Or try download mode and flash new stock firmware via Odin .

ok will try flashing ics. but why would this happen? what is the cause of such problem?
ok i did flash the ics and still the same problem. help me plz
Sounds suspiciously like the "Sleep of Death". Been discussed at length in dozens and dozens and dozens of threads here.
thanks. but why suddenly i am having this?
i have not installed any new kernel, firrmware or programs.
I dont understand why people with stock not rooted phones comes here and thinks this is samsung service, since it is purely stock..go to the retailer or call samsung.

Phone will no longer turn on after flashing Rom

I just tried flashing Android Revolution to my phone. I went through the whole set up process. Went to reboot then it went blank. Nothing. I get nothing when I plug it in. The computer doesn't recognize any device attached to it. I've tried removing the battery. If I leave the battery out for an extended period of time, when I place it back in the phone, my camera flash flashes really quick then back to nothing. It's as if the phone is completely dead. When I flashed the rom my battery was at 90%. I've used various roms on different phones and this was the first time I did it to my Galaxy s3 and this is the first time it's ever happened. Talk about frustrating. Any help would be appreciated but I'm not holding my breath. It doesn't look good.
Congratulations!
You're phone is now a piece of brick!
Board failure!
If your phone goes to download mode you can repair it by jtag and if it doesn't power on anyway and it's still under warranty, you can ask them to change your phone or repair that.
Cause there's no way to understand you've installed a custom os

No download mode
No, it won’t go to download mode. I'll try the alternate battery. Thanks for the information guys.
Did you flash the right phone ROM?
Yes

Fairly certain I did but I'm pretty sure it's a moot point now. If I could get any sign of life, I'd use Odin to unbrick and go back to stock. Anyhow for now, it makes a great paper weight.

Sam S10 bricked when PC switched off while flashing by Odin

Hi guys,
I was flashing my S10 by Odin, using USB-C connector which is also charging the laptop.. (why didnt use the second one I idiot??)
Odin sudently stoped flashing, stuck maybe on 90% and I was waiting more then hour, but flashing did not succesful, if laptop discharged the battery and switched off.
Samsung is totaly dead, I tried everything like get to recovery mode, Odin mode, leave the battery fully discharged, unplug and replug battery... No any sign of life. PC doesn't see it..
It seems there is nothing I can do for unbrick it, but maybe YOU know some trick that may rescue my phone...?
Is it possible that some box as Octoplus or some like that will be working for my problem?
Many thanks for any idea, Regards, Tomas.
I would recommend trying to return to manufacturing (RMA) the phone just explain that it's hardware bricked doesn't turn on etc and you should get a new phone. How ever if they find out that you tried to flash custom software on your phone your warranty is voided and you might have to buy a new phone.
download official firmware and flash every file except for HOME CSC using Odin. This should revert you back to stock rom and allow you to boot properly.
It's not normal that flashing takes so long in first place.
Something already went wrong while it was still flashing.
My S10 flashes in like 10 minutes completely.
That's strange anyway because mine stopped one or two times flashing
causing a soft brick but I always could enter Download Mode again and reflash.
I'd basically never flash with a notebook not connected to a charger
but in your case I think you could wait even more hours and nothing would happen anymore.
One exception could be that you flashed the wrong firmware.
I wouldn't send it to Samsung if that's the case (in my opinion).
Just don't do such stuff if you don't know what you are doing and learn from it.
A honest option is to aquire a device with broken display and ideally broken back glass and change the motherboard.
It's not that difficult and you could exchange the battery e.g.. (plus it's fun)
Thanks for all answers.
Unfortunately, the rom I flashet was stock and 100% right for my phone. Downloaded from sammobile.
Also now I'm not able to flash anything because PC does not see my phone when connected...not any sound and Odin wont show that device is connected.
One more information-I'm not some fish to do something what I dont know about..my job is technician in mobile phone repair servis and shop. But 99% repairs I'm doing is hardware repair- like broken LCD change, battery change, charging connector repair by soldering... Sometimes software repair of course, I flashed by Odin many many times, but flashing takes max 10 minutes.. this is why used charging port co connect the phone. There was some another problem I'm sure.
Anyway thanks for your answers.
I'll send the bricked phone on eBay, maybe somebody have the right tool to make it done.
Thx again.
