[Q] Location Services problem on Helly Bean Rom - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am new to all this root stuff but I did manage to root my phone and install Helly Bean Rom. Everything went smoothly insofar as I didn't brick the phone. However, I have come a cross a problem that I am hoping someone can help me with.
Basically, my location services don't work when I am just using standard 3G mobile data. Google maps, FB checkins, Google Now, nothing. I wasn't even able to get a hold of any GPS signals and as such, my location services were non-existant. I did manged to flash a new modem version that fixed my GPS locating issue, as I can now get a fix on GPS and everything works (location wise) when the GPS is connected (oh and on wifi as well!).
However, that still leaves me with the problem of no location services during mobile data only. Everything else works, surfing the net, google play store, I have no problem connecting to the net. It just seems as though I can't get a location fix on mobile data alone. I guess I should be happy that I got the GPS to work seeing as though I can get my location sorted that way...but I feel short changed.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I am learning as I go so please bear with me. I don't know what details to provide but here is what is in the 'about phone' section...
Basband Version: I9100XXLQ6
Kernel Version: [email protected]#1
Build Number: cm_i9100-userdebug 4.1.2 JZO54K eng.
Not sure if any of that is actually useful.
Thanks in advanced!

GPS not working properly

Hey guys,
Im running stock ROM: 2.73.405.5
Radio : 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18
My device has recovery and root.
And GPS does not seem to work, I have tried with Google maps and Waze.
Waze gets my location for a sec (as it resets the map to my real location), I have disabled the use of wireless networks to find out the location so I guess GPS must be working if it can see where I am for a second but after that it says it's looking for GPS satellites and it never finds any no matter where I am.
As far as I recall I have never been able to get a satellite.
Will a radio upgrade help me?
Has anyone ever experience such problems and found a solution?
Are there any changes to settings I need to apply except enabling location services ?

have you sat still for a good 5-10 mins with a clear view of the sky?> and does ur internet work fine on the phone?
hero can locate you either with the phone's network service or GPS, the first one locate you in no time but can't get an acurate coordinate. On the contary, GPS takes longer time but get a better fix (Take a few minutes).
Go to "setting" - "position"(not sure for my not using english as my default language) check both box to active GPS and network locating function.

[Q] International GPS Issues?

Ive been doing much research with this international GPS issue I'm having. I have one question...... I'm from USA, have a Galaxy S (Vibrant - SGH-T959) Baseband: T959UVKB5 / Kernel: Immortality V2 (2.6.32.9) / ROM: Bionix V 1.3.1. I am currently visiting Ukraine (In Europe) and have tweaked the gps.conf file and still nothing. I get GPS Satellites "In View" but none "In Use" according to GPS STATUS (seems it cant connect to satellites?). I have mobile service (EDGE) with ISP Kyivstar. Also phone has been unlocked and installed the Google Maps 5.7.0 ownhere/Brut.all MOD. Any help would be great! Thanks
gps.conf
NTP_SERVER=europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=1.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.europe.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=3.europe.pool.ntp.org
XTRA_SERVER_1=hxxp://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_2=hxxp://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
XTRA_SERVER_3=hxxp://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
I am from Serbia and gps works fine, it needs some time to get the first fix but after that its much better. I did change ntp server to europe(just one i think you overdid it), and set supl.google.com in libtestmode. All this using stock kb5 it has the best gps without any fixes imo.
edit: It seams to get better over time, at start i had 50m locks but now its down to 8-10m.
Im seeing plenty of satellites but cant connect to any =( Been here for over a week and nothing......
Are you using stock Google Maps and navigation??

No its updated install GPS Test from the market and let it run outside where there is a clear view of the sky for 5-10min, you should get a lock. After one lock it should be much faster, if you messed with lbstestmode set gps to standalone.
Updated version of google maps? Or the Google Maps 5.7.0 ownhere/Brut.all MOD?

[Q] Needing help with S5830L

Hi, everyone.
After a slight fall, my S5830L started rebooting randomly. In some cases it just shutdown.
Looking for causes, I've found that when Data Connection is active ( In Settings - Wireless and Network Settings - Mobile Networks) it reboots.
If I turn off Data Connections everything is fine. I even can connect using WiFi when available, and synchronize accounts, send emails, access market, etc. All OK.
When I check again Data Connection option, sooner or later (rather sooner) it fails again.
Has anyone heard about issues like this? I need some help to deal with it. I can use almost everything, except data connection, and I really miss it
Thanks to all for the answers, any idea is welcome!
Augusto.
PS: Hope my mail is clear enough, since English is not my native language...

Hi, this is not normal, what firmware do have you installed?
This problem may be occur with any program installed and not for firmware problem.
I've flashed at least three different firmwares and with all the same problem persists.
Right now i've Android 2.3.6 (from Entel PCS, Chile)
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-perf- CL771662
Compilation Number: GINGERBREAD.UBKPL
Baseband Version: S5830LUBKPL
The problem started after my son dropped the phone downstairs, just a couple of steps, though...
I don't remember installed anything wierd, for that time.-
PS: I took the info about Entel PCS version from your web. Thanx. Nice Job!
I would have to agree that it sounds more software then hardware based. Usually if hardwares broken its very predictable. I would try to restore a different firmware stock or custom. I have an L and went with a custom rom. The data dropping might be a baseband issue but someone more wise than I would have to comment on that.
The wierd thing is that on the first connection it works, at some point the connection hangs, then while trying to reconnect it shutdown.
I was running a Samsung's 2.3.4 firmware when the problem started, then I flashed a Personal Stock 2.3.4 firmware (the original, that came with the phone), after that tried Entel PCS's 2.3.6. I keep this one because it's the newer version...
All behave the same way. The baseband should be the same for all, because the L (S5830L) is for LatinAmerica, and I've always double checked this.
Hi,
Have you tried to flash the original stock ROM again? You can download it from http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
This site also explain how to use odin to flash the firmware.
My Android version is 2.3.4and Baseband is S5830LUBKPF and it works OK
I believe it might be hardware wise. Have you rooted you SGA already?

[Q] Data connection lost after sleep. Normal?

Hi there,
Just wanting to get some support with an issue I am currently having. I have recently rooted and flashed a custom ROM on my galaxy s2 but have come up against a problem. My data connection seems to be quite erratic. I am running the following specs:
Baseband: i9100XXLQ6
Kernel: 3.0.15-CM-g39df795 [email protected] #1
Slim Bean Version: 3.0.0 Official
Build Number: JZO54K
To be more specific. My data signal drops whenever the phones goes to sleep for an extended period. My signal bars remain full, however they are greyed out. I have read that this means I have no connection to Google Services. There is no other issue with data. It works fine with WiFi (no signal drops) and I can still call and receive texts.
Basically, I am new to all this flashing so any help/advice you can provide is great. I have used getRIL to ensure my RIL is the appropriate one for my modem version, everything seems to match there. Any other tricks or fixes I can try? Is it worth flashing a new modem?
Thanks

Just a little more information on this. IT doesn't actually seem like I lose connection during sleep as I still get email and facebook notifications. The loss of connection (blue signal bars to grey signal bars) happens for a couple of seconds when the phone gets unlocked. Is this normal behaviour? It only happens for 5 or so seconds and then the connection is re-established. I have checked and confirmed APNs, used getRIL, anything else worth trying/investigating?

GPS borked

Hi there!
After I upgraded to Marshmallow on my Xperia Z5C, the GPS / location services have become a tad bit ****ed up.
As in apps either doesn't find it, even when it's on, so whenever I open apps like Jodel or Tinder, they ask me to open the settings and turn it on, but when I do, it's on. Or when I open RunKeeper, it only say "Searching …" forever and ever.
Or those who find it, plonk me down as being 45 kilometres north east of where I actually am, and when I move around, it doesn't. It's just frozen in place, in the centre of another city.
I've tried shutting it on and off, doing a hard reset, and even installing a GPS spoof to try to make Jodel and Tinder work, to no avail.
Is there anything I can do about this that doesn't include resetting the phone to the factory settings or sending it to service?
Info:
Model: E5823
Android: 6.0
Build: 32.1.A.1.163
Root: No
Im in the same boat, did u find any solution for this?
Currently in build Build: 32.1.A.1.185
-Samo
Try a clean install.
I'm having the same issue. Were you both of you able to resolve this?
