As some of you may know, I got my Rezound from Best Buy Mobile and it has a dead pixel. I finally went in today & attempted to exchange it. They said the dead pixel was barely noticable & couldn't exchange it for me just on that... but said if I wanted to, I could switch it for another phone. LOL?.....
Yeah, good old Best Buy and there asinine policies. I am no longer a customer there. The one thing that did it for me is that in order to return an item. You have to give them your personnel info. Weather you have a receipt and you paid cash, debit or credit for it. I make sure on a stores return policies before I make a purchase. On the return to Best Buy, I just asked some one else to do the return for me. It is cash that I always pay with. So, the person wouldn't have to prove that they were the purchaser. I wouldn't be surprised if they ask for personnel info when items are purchased at some point. Them and others like them can go take a long drive off a short pier. Also, when a person purchases something. There is an expectation, and a rightful one at that. That the product has no defects for a minimum of one year. So they do not get to make a judgment call on that defect. You spent your money that they were distributing. They took liability for that item when they took it in to there invintory stock. That dead pixle is a dead piece of hardware. You have the right to be picky about the state of that hardware as long as it was not caused by external forces. Dead pixels are not caused by consumers in 99.99% of cases. I would march back in there and make a loud ass fuss. Well, not at first. I would be civilized and polite at first and give them ample opportunity to replace it. Then if they refuse to work with you, get loud about it. Make sure that other customers know about the stores lack of a good policy. But don't be indignant about it. Still be civil about it while you make a stink. You do not want to get arrested for an item. Lol.
If that fails, give this a try.

Good luck.
If I have any issue with a Best Buy purchased phone I just tell them that the phone keeps randomly turning off, act like its a huge inconvenience.
Hope this helps
Thats BS. Your mobile department is messed up, I work for BB mobile and, if there was a dead pixel, I would exchange it right away.
Like Jay said above, call the Res Team and they should fix it, or post on the BBY forums online and one of the forum managers will get in touch with you there.
Got my original incredible at best buy. A bunch of a holes. Worst customer service PERIOD.

Make fun of me if you want but I have no idea what's a dead pixel. Is like the 3 time I read about dead pixel in this rezound forum.

It's basically a pixel that isn't working properly so it doesn't display the portion of the image it's supposed to so you see some other color constantly on that pixel. I find it most annoying when you are watching some sort of video.
There's also stuck pixels that can be fixed by literally massaging them. You massage the screen lightly where they are and sometimes you can get them to work again.
There's apps you can download to help you see them. They just show you full color screens, alternating different colors, and you look and see if you notice any pixels that aren't of the same color as the rest of the screen.
I can't believe BB is still in business the way they treat their customers.

They take your DL# to track fraud. Just like when paying with a credit card they must type in the American express 4 digit code, MasterCard last 4 digits and discover cards CID. All to help prevent fraud.

agreed, I expect them to big the next big chain to go under, following borders to the grave. They've already shut down in Europe after only a year.
As far as the dead pixel, how many pixels are on this screen? To think one won't die or get stuck is a little high for expectations I would assume. I would guess that there is a policy somewhere saying how many dead/stuck pixels it would take to get an exchange. Usually one won't cut it (at least on other stuff I have purchased).
could try this:
http://lifehacker.com/152062/fix-your-lcds-dead-pixels
First things first u'll notice this is my 1st post. I've been a constant Xda lurker since i got my xoom way back in March of last year. Finally decided to actually register (something i shouldve done a year ago).
Anyway onto my issue. I live in South Africa so if i were to upgrade to the S3, it would be the international variant. I currently own an iPhone 3gs, so almost any recent phone is an upgrade. I'm lucky enough to be able to choose the S3
The S3 in my eyes is without a doubt the best phone on the market. Theres just a few things i'm unsure of. Please answer whichever of the questions u feel u can Keep in mind that once i upgrade, i'll have to keep the S3 for 24 months (minimum).
1) Firstly, its the 1gb of RAM. i understand this is more than enough at this current moment but i'm worried that it will be insufficient within the next year. Would the S3 still be able to provide top tier performance in 24months?
2) The build quality seems to be an issue. I couldnt care less for the aesthetics of the actual device (i actually think it looks quite nice), but i've seen alot of posts about small drops resulting in completely cracked screens and other severe damage. Even with a cover, is the S3's build quality that bad?
THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION:
The first batch that the South african stores recieved were all white of course. I was wondering whether it would be worth me waiting 2 more weeks for the blue version to arrive. Not a matter of the appearence but rather the actual hardware. Theres countless threads about the 'pink tint' and 'ink sploges' on the screen. I was wondering if the blue variant may be less prone to this issue or is it a complete gamble regardless of whether i choose the white or blue
I understand i could find some of these answers by looking through the forum (and i have) but i would like some personal opinions directly relating to the questions i asked. Thanks for all your replies.
Ink splotches is a byproduct of the screen tech. EVERY model will have them
I do not drop my phones so I cannot comment on that, but I am willing to bet it would only crack the screen if it fell on a corner or side. I.E. if you are going to drop your phone, drop it face down or face up
1GB of RAM should be fine in two years considering apps will be able to be multi-threaded and be able to use the four cores more efficiently, coupled with the fact that Android manages RAM pretty well.
Whatever phone you choose, good luck and I hope you enjoy it
Hi there!
Regarding question 2:
I haven't dropped my SGS3 yet (and I don't plan to).
Call me silly but I have bought both a screen protector and a rear cover as well.
The phone is a quite a big investment so why not protect it the best you can? There are very rugged covers such as Otterbox and so on.
If you are really unlucky when (if) you drop your phone it can break, sure. Try to protect it with some cheap insurance (screen and rear cover) and you have done what you can.
It's a fantastic phone so don't hesitate to buy one just because you are worried about build quality. It's more or less up to you how careful you are with your shining new toy!
Good luck!

Anybody else have any advice on the blue vs white question?
The white was released first in the UK and while I was desparate for the phone I held off for the blue.
I just felt that the white may show it's age sooner and need better keeping clean but that's just me. As for the actual hardware, I guess it's still a gamble whatever but I am completely happy with mine and no issues personally.
If you REALLY wanted to be absolutely sure you'd have to wait months really (and then your first point comes into play even more)

I seriously thought about buying the white one so that I didn't have to wait for the blue one. BUT, the white one is quite "iPhony" if you know what I mean! ;-)
I waited for two extra weeks for the pebble blue to come into the stores here in Sweden, and I don't regret waiting those extra weeks! In my opinion the blue one looks a littlebit more "sophisticated"!
But as always, it's just a matter of taste!

Hi mits101
I'm south African too.....
Just joined the site a few days ago as I'm contemplating going over to Android.
Very tempted.....
I am really intrigued as to how the S3 will stack up to my iPhone 4
Screen wise, sound wise and so forth
I do know that your iPhone 3gs screen will explode when it comes face to face with the Sammy, as far as ram goes I think it should be fine.
I would/will go for the blue one too though it's now Metallic Blue, I don't like the white look
You can upgrade at 20 or 22 months depending on your network (MTN 20 months)
unless it's changed (not sure Vodacom or Cell C)
@ sy573mx
Wow its great to see a fellow south African on these forums .
I've phoned most retailers and they have no idea when they'll be getting the blue version
Looks like I'm most probably going to get the white one. Well either way its gonna have a cover. I just really hope it doesnt have the pink tint.
Anybody know if there's a first and second batch of S3`s. Maybe the second batch will be less prone to the few display problems
galaxy s3 is the way to go, one of the best out and probably still would be for the next year.
ive seen a few threads on dropping their phone and the screen cracked and they cost about $300 to repair...
keep it safe and get a nice case that covers the screen.
android ftw!
First off: I am not anti-Google. I use all the main Google apps. I have had four Android phones, own 2 Nexus 7's and would take Android over iOS any day of the week.
But...
I am through with this piece of crap that passes for the Nexus 10.
Since buying this thing when it first came out I have had to put up with dodgy wifi connections, creaky flexing back panels, random freezes and reboots, and - worst of all - deal-breakingly poor quality control on the screens. I have been through several RMAs with Google Play (to the point where they are refusing to send me any more replacements - and at the moment they are not even replying to my emails) and am now on my 5th device. All of the devices have had unacceptable levels of light bleed, and - worse still - blotchy screens with uneven yellow or blue tints. I have been through nightmares with the Play store and TNT trying to get devices returned and shipped, and have a pile of email correspondence so long that it could be turned into a Peter Jackson trilogy. The Play store is staffed by some of the greatest morons that I have ever had the misfortune to have to deal with. I have constantly been given wrong or misleading information, and have had to harass and badger them at every stage to get anything done. I still have a device listed as 'pending' on my Google Wallet that has long since been returned, despite being told on numerous occasions that an 'expert' was going to remove it.
For anyone with a perfect device, or who is just happy with their's however it is: I am genuinely pleased for you. This could, and more importantly, should, have been an amazing piece of kit. But as it is, my time with the Nexus 10 has been, without any shadow of a doubt, the absolute worst customer experience I have had in my entire life, by a long country mile.
My blotchy, creaky, light bleedy slab of **** is going back. I'll be getting a full refund and returning to my long neglected iPad. Which actually works like it's supposed to.
YMMV
my two cents
When you got the second sample and were still unhappy then it was masochistic to keep trying. You should have given up and ended the pain way before getting to the fifth device. Clearly it is not designed to the quality you require and most, if not all, of the samples were probably typical of the quality of everyone else's.
Crap is in the eye of the beholder. Many others, including myself, are not sensitive to the defects you point out. I don't care about an occasional reboot (which only happened in the first day for me), the light bleed, case cracking sounds, etc. Different people have different needs.
You were asking the support people to make the product right for you, which is probably impossible given that particular design. How do you expect them to behave? They certainly aren't going to say the nexus 10 is **** and they also can't say that you are wrong. The nexus 10 is not **** for most people and you are not wrong for wanting a particular level of quality.
To make a long story short you should walk away and spend your energy finding something better instead of banging your head against a lost cause.
+1 for "my two cents"
Well it took me forever to get a good one... Returns and repairs but its pretty good now.
Funny you praise the nexus 7 while cursing this one. I got 8 crap n7s in a row. Finding one without bleed and lifted screen is like finding a unicorn. The ones not plagued by screen issues are pretty cool... The same can be said for the n10.

There is a difference between useful sharing of a bad experience and trashing it. He seems to be saying that he was harmed and the world owes him something. No company owes anyone anything unless they misrepresent the product or are outright fraudulent.
I actually feel sorry for the support team on this one. Sending 5 units is beyond the call of duty. I would quit responding to his emails also. A friend of mine worked in support and he called these customers "screamers". There was nothing you could do to make them happy. He wanted to tell them to give up and buy a competitors product but he could have lost his job for saying that.
It is *possible* he is an apple fan coming here to troll. I'm not accusing him but I've seen this on other forums many times. The fact that he says he is going back to his iPad is a clue.
I feel so sorry to the customer service handle your case.
Such customer shall be doing such job to learn the lesson.
Requesting 5 times changing was ridiculous. If 2nd change not fulfil your requirements. Stop continue and by just requested for full refund as it was known the thing never right nor matter how many times you change it.
It was great for your continue using back your satisfied iPad.
Think twice in future before repeating such hilarious attitude.
Idk, on one hand, if he really wanted the device, 5 tries at it doesn't seem too bad. On the other hand, if decent QC was actually existent, then so many replacements wouldn't have to be issued to find an "acceptable" device (for $400 I wouldn't deal with excessive screen bleed nor a creaky back either; luckily I have neither on my first device though).
So, it's either deal with the QC flaws on a $400 device, or annoy CS because of lack of QC. Maybe annoying them will actually make Google/Samsung do some better QC
As for the Apple part, I do agree it is kind of unnecessary. But then again if that's the tablet that works for him, then meh.

Not trolling at all. Actually reading this on my Nexus 7 rather than my iPad. Android is so far ahead of iOS it feels like a backward step to have to use it. Was going to sell the thing if the Nexus 10 turned out right. Such a shame since the N10 pisses all over the iPad in every respect. Apart from the defective screen, obviously. I can overlook the creaks (put it in a case) and the light bleed (don't watch films in the dark).I can even overlook the WiFi and reboot issues, but an uneven screen is a deal breaker. I use my tablets primarily for reading, so yellow patches are highly distracting. And as for the Play Store staff: I have come across some who have been extremely helpful, but I've also been repeatedly given wrong information, lied to and messed about. The customer service is genuinely appalling. As for just giving in: it took me three exchanges to get a decent iPad (uneven screen again), so am not inclined to throw in the towel. What would make me happy? A reasonably uniform screen. I'm not looking for perfection. I know these are mass produced consumer products. But equally I see no reason to spend £300 on something sub-standard. If Google don't want me returning things then they should get their quality control sorted out. And yes - writing this has been cathartic.
Good bye

As someone who has worked in retail for 17 year in positions that involve selling the general public goods what you hear from over the top customers is usually about 40% truth and 60% exaggeration in the hopes it will escalate their problem and get it resolved quickly to `their' satisifaction. Typically what is considered `their satisfaction' is a set of goal posts that never stops moving.
The replacement collectors I pay no attention to.. There is one dude around here that his signature is how he's had 5 Nexus 10 replacements and 5 Nexus 4 replacements.. Seriously.. I can't take that seriously..

Which part of my post do you think is an exaggeration? The part where I said that I wasn't looking for perfection, could live with light bleed, wifi drop-outs and reboots, but drew the line at wanting a 'reasonably' even screen in terms of temperature and light distribution was a clue as to what I consider my 'goalposts' to be. My iPad isn't perfect: the screen is not 100% uniform and it has minor light bleed. My Nexus 7 isn't perfect: it has some light bleed, wifi drop-outs and the screen flicker issue. My Android phone isn't perfect: the screen is not 100% even. But are they acceptable? Yes. Because. even though consumer devices are not perfect, they are of a 'reasonable' quality.
That = 'goalposts'.
Why is that too hard for some people to understand?
Nothing in this world is perfection.
From all you write, you are finding for perfection but just not admit only.
Why life so hard? You can't be happy and satisfied forever as you are too towards for perfection. They is no such thing in this world!
this thing is sooo slugish and freezes after 4.2.2 update
this thing is going to my sisters 7 year old. I already told him if he drops and breaks it he will be doing us all a favor. ever since the 4.2.2 update it became laggy in all areas.
i think the only good thing about this thing was the ppi.....i did a lot of ebook reading.
I ordered ( just got the confirmation from microsoft) a surface pro. sorry google, i tried so many times along with 4 rma's and i just cant do this any more. please open those brick motar stores you keep talking about. it will make it easier for us to return your products.

The customer service representatives tell you to return it until you get one you are satisfied with. Not the other way around. They are quick to offer another RMA. I stopped after the second one had horrible light bleed because I didn't want to play THEIR game any more. I got a refund and got the hell out of the crappy RMA merry go round. I'm waiting to hear if they have fixed the quality control issues but sadly it still sounds like a crap shoot.

Really? for me after 4.2.2 I find the tablet is more responsiveness and battery life is improved - not sluggish at all. I have not had a reboot so far while using the tabet but did experience a few wifi drops (reconnected after a few seconds). Still trying to figure out where wifi drops happen as I'm running a Asus RT-N66U (with Tomato firmware).
I am running stock and lost root after the OTA upgrade. Have you tried a factory reset?
I genuinely can't believe that people see the need to RMA their N10 (or any device) due to the smallest things that they've found by specifically looking for them. Yes my N10 has light bleed and yes it did have problems with rebooting (before 4.2.2) but it doesn't bother me.
I would never use an LCD screen on full brightness in a dark room so will never notice the small amounts of light bleed it has. The reboots are a software issue that can be fixed by an update and are so infrequent that they are almost insignificant anyway. And a 'creaky back' definitely doesn't warrant getting the thing replaced; it's plastic so is bound to creak when you purposely flex it which you're not supposed to do.
Is anyone else shocked by the sheer number of people that will happily request multiple replacements because of the stupidest things and then wonder why the price increases or the customer service seems rushed? They've somehow got pay for all the testing, repackaging, restocking and reselling of these apparently 'defective' devices.
who have ordered in tmo store online and received their unit box sealed like tmo local store unit? the first time i ordered online i receive my device in a box that is not sealed. they just place 2 tmobile sticker to hold the box cover. when i open my unit there was a dent and scratch on the back so be aware. make sure when you receive a unit when ordered online, the unit must be sealed otherwise the unit you will be getting is a returned from someone nor refurbished.
just sharing..
PLEASE RETURN YOUR PHONE... do not accept a phone if is not sealed. thats an used one for sure ....contact tmobile and tell them they sent you a used phone when you paid for a new one ...
the box is supposed to be covered in transparent plastic...

not sure why people are complaining about gaps or anything that are not dead pixels since you will probably use a case with it and notice the gaps

The key word you used was "probably". Some people don't use a case. Some people want their phone to look as nice as possible. You are supposed to get what you pay for.... and this is not a cheap device.

every one of us has our own preference about build quality. me i want it just like the way they advertise the device. money doesn't grow on trees.
it doesn't matter if you use case it will not make the gap disappear, it will be there and you know it. and if you're ok with a minor defective device well that's fine with me, that is your device not mine. i just want my earned money to be worth spending on the device.

I also ordered 2 HTC One's via a local store that will ship to my home. I will make sure it is sealed. It will arrive Monday. Thanks for the heads up. Also, does 1.6 pounds sound right for 2 phones?
Thanks again

Can you guys show me where the advertise it with no gaps? I don't think I ever saw the exact words "no gaps" being advertised.
What about the operating system what about sense? Sometimes when you exit something it's not as smooth as other transactions. Why aren't you guys complaning about that?
Are the gaps really really that bad ?

Its advertised as "zero gap" construction but I agree that people are too anal about it. People sending back all these devices are going to make it very difficult for carriers to replace them if it keeps up.

operating system can be fix by updates.. it is actually zero gaps because it is a unibody device.. everything need to be flawless. people care because they want their money to be worth on spending.what if that gaps will get worse its getting older? what are you gonna do? send it to htc to get it fix? if you are ok with you device with minor issue then that is fine.sharing this to anyone who care not to anyone doesn't care.
Mine wasn't sealed. Just had two stickers holding it shut. The bag it came in was sealed though. It had the sticky cover over the phone and nothing was missing and the phone was in perfect condition.

Ummm... Pretty sure most carriers ship in open boxes - how else do you think they get the required SIM card in there? All phones I've ever gotten from T-Mobile, going all the way back to the Sidekick II, were just sealed with a sticker.
Same thing with at&t
Same with Sprint
Same with Verizon
And Sprint didn't even use SIM cards back then.
You guys are just looking to complain.

Please search on the Internet how carriers put their SIM cards inside the box and you will see how it works ... And today a tmobile representative confirmed all new htc one comes with the box covered in plastic , if is not covered, the phone is reburbished... I wish i had the conversation saved. So i could show it to you
.. There's no body complaining ... We are just giving information
Been waiting for the green 64GB and when it finally in stock. I dont know if I dare to buy it and hopes for a 100% functions free without problems. After read about all the problems with: scratches, auto rotate, pink, lines, bubbles etc... Considering get the flat S6 instead, but also alot of problems with it!
Since Green 64GB are only in stock at 1 operator with 200US rebate and the operator have only 48H DOA time and makes it impossible to exchange multiple times limit. If hardware defects out of the box, can call it in and make 1 time exhange, but after that time limits will expire and that makes me really hesitate to ordering it online.
Does anyone really got a fully functional S6 Edge without any hardware based problems at all? Software buggs, I can live with and wait for update to fix it. But hardware defects cant do anything about it.
So, order it now and hopes for the best? Or wait for new batches and hopes Samsung to sort all problems out?
Got the Gold Platinum one 64GB Made in Vietnam(09/04/15) and i have absolutely NO hardware defects it is perfect, I can't say much about the rotation issue as i decided to rather charge my device wirelessly for the time being until Samsung gives an official statement whether it is indeed the Fast charger causing the issue or not, but the other thing are perfect besides a software issue of aggressive RAM management which allegedly Samsung is busy working out a fix for it and I haven't been getting good battery life when my phone is idle but that's Google Play services, hopefully an update will fix this drain also

i don't know why you would really ask this question just because a few people have had these defects but there has been millions shipped to retailers and networks people only moan when they have defects what about the millions that haven't if you really have to ask that question you should just stick to the boring standard s6 and let us enjoy the better s6 edge

I dont see this as few peoples and more widespread globally. If u pay so much money and cant exchange until got one without defects. Im sure all want to know, what they are getting in before buy. Counting all multiple replcements units and peoples that doesnt visit forums. Im sure it just than few.
If I got same opportunity to exchange unitl get a fully working unit and wont bother to ask it here.

don't get me wrong it wasn't getting personal its just we see these threads pop up all the time most of my friends have the edge me also and not one of us had a defect people are to picky for the slightest thing i was just giving my opinion that's all half the stuff people notice dont notice it till some pops up on here and says oh i have this then that sends people in to melt down looking for the same problems the s6 edge is better than the standard in my opinion held them both and chose the edge
Dont understand all this hypes about premium quality. Was at store today and tested out the both. Maybe its just me, but I dont feel any premium quality about them, I like mine Note 2 is much more comfortable to hold on, both was flawless and no scratches, autorotate, pink whatever. But damn store didnt offer any exhange if the box is opened and didnt let me either open the box directly to inspect before buy. Gonna wait until June before decide, since a store offer 30 days exchanges, even used it.
