don't use juice defender or any such thing.. they tend to drain your battery rather than save it... if it still doesnt work then do a factory reset including deletion of sd card
One thing..... just format Sd card and reset your phone.that's all...
Sent from my Neo using xda app-developers app
The amount of RAM being used also affects your battery. DO NOT use any external apps for battery saving. They are of no use and only consume RAM.
The information given above is inappropriate, you don't need to RESET / FORMAT anything.
Try full wipe in cwm man
Wipe factory
Wipe cache
Advanced > wipe dalvik cache
Advanced > wipe battery stats
Mounts & storage > format system
Format data
Format cache
N reinstall the stock firmware

I would like to clean up my Cyanongen installation, but i dont know what is safe to delete and what not.
is there is a way to start totally 'clean' with just CM7 installed?
i have a feeling alot of unused directories / files are on my phone.
I'd prefer to format everything and re-install a fresh CM7 like u do when re-installing a PC.
Do a Titanium backup to your external SD card, backup your contacts, SMS & anything else you need (EFS too use Hellcat's kTool available on Market), then transfer the folders/files to your PC.
Do a factory reset on your phone, format both your internal/external SD cards, reinstall CM & whatever kernel you like thru Odin then transfer those backup files back to your internal or external SD card & restore your backups (just the apps, not the app data). That's what I'm planning to do over Xmas/New Year (tho not with CM).
Is this what you had in mind ?

Do i have to re-install with Odin, or is it also possible to format everything in CWM recovery and re-install CM7 with CWM recovery aswell? besides, do i lose my current kernel when i format through recovery?
[/noobmode]
Actually, that's a very good point. You probably noticed I ummed and ahhed/edited my post a couple of times
Yeah, I guess you can probably just as easily do it all thru the CW Recovery ;-)
Edit - Although...If you nuke your SD cards (both), I'm thinking you'll more than likely get rid of everything on them, including CW, so that's why my first thought was that you'll need to reflash CM/kernel thru Odin, put the backups back on your external SD & then go from there.

Thanks for your help, i managed to do it all through CWM recovery.
started with downloading latest CM7 zip and stored it on my external sd (emmc).
rebooted into CWM and did
* Factory reset
* did all the formats under mount/format except emmc ofcourse
* reinstalled CM7 zip
* reboot and there it is, a fresh install with no unneeded empty directory/files etc
i didnt have to do a backup since all i had was some apps (wich i can redownload from app-store, and contacts are synced through google)
Thanks again!
No worries ;-) Glad it all worked smoothly for you.
You pretty much did it all yourself anyways Now I know you for sure that you don't have to use Odin at all & will follow the steps you did myself when I wipe mine over the next week or so
Learning together is a beautiful thing

Battery / warmth issues
since i've done a total whipe and re-installed CM7, i seem to have a recharging issue, the phone gets really warm and it doesn't continuesly charge... it was almost empty, then got it back to around 30% and now it unloading again even while its connected...
do know what's wrong or what i could do to fix this? My battery-usage is not showing anything unusual that is consuming the battery
Occasionally after flashing a new kernel (I've never experienced it with a new rom tho) I've experienced heat issues like you're describing which tend to work themselves out after a couple of charge/discharge/reboot cycles, tho not the problems with recharging.
Try draining it to 5%, boot into CW Recovery, clear cache, clear Dalvik, delete battery stats then charge the phone while it's off to 100% (dont switch it on until you get the notification).
See if that helps.

yeah clearing the battery stats seemed to have worked.... Strange tho, since i also did that right after formatting and reinstalling CM
It worked ? Excellent
Yeah that's a strange one. I have absolutely no idea why things like that don't seem to be fixed by clearing cache/Dalvik or battery stats once, but when you do it a second time the problem is solved
Main thing is you've got your phone running sweet now

Many memory hungry apps force close on ics, specially when web browsing.
Would you advise to use swap? If so what would be better, use it on the cache partition or on the microsd?
My current setup:
- Neo V with ics pureness 14 rom
- microsd 16gb class 10
- 1gb ext4 partition for link2sd apps
- Autostart of many apps disabled with Lbe or autostarts
I would go for sd-card (for greater storage; you I'm having cache partition of ~ 100 mb only - cant say of ics pureness 14 rom, i'm on stock)

You are killing your card with that.
Flash memories have limited read/write cycles.
Not saying it will die fast but still there is impact.
Is the 100mb cache partition even used? Every time I've seen it it's almost empty. Also it may be faster, but are there any negative effects of using a 64mb swap from there?
Hi,
I have galaxy s2 i9100 phone. Internal memory 8 GB, and no external sd card. Its running 4.1.2 jelly bean. official rom. the problem with my phone is that when the phone is restarted i get the " preparing sd card: checking for errors" and it takes a long time to go away. during that time i cant do anything like taking a picture or accessing memory. after that when i goto application manager to clear cache of an app or uninstall an app, no app is showing its size. then after like 10 or more minutes the apps start showing their sizes one by one.
during this time if i click any app to see if i can uninstall the app or clear cache etc i see computing..... infront of everything.
and it takes quite a while to compute. Eventually it is computed and all the sizes cache size is showing but if i click to clear data or clear cache the button appears to be clicked but nothing happens i have to close the application manager and open it after like 10 mins to find out the cache has been cleared. all this is also effecting my phone performance. The apps are very slow. I dont get any facebook or any other notification on time. I get them like an hour late. This didnt use to happen before. The phone is sluggish and often freezes and i have to take out the battery to make it work again.
I did everything i could find. I factory reset it, did wipe all data and even reflashed and factory reset it but all that did was make it work normal for a day or two and then all these problems start again. I searched alot but couldnt find any topic relevant. No body has mentioned this application manager problem etc and phone being slow etc. And many of the posts are about external sd card but i have no external sd card. Could someone please help me.
i had flashed a new cyanogenmod rom and i was restoring from a titanium backup, when there was an error message and the phone froze. The screen was black but the status bar was showing (and the circle for the battery was still rotating) i couldnt shut down the phone by holding the power button so i took the battery out, without realising the phone was still plugged into the wall. The screen was still showing but the battery circle wasnt rotating anymore. I unplugged the phone, restarted and reflashed the rom, everything works fine now but battery life is slightly less (before when i got home from school i would be on about 20-25%, now its about 10-15% after 7 hours) also the phone is a bit warm when playing games. My question is, have i done any damage to my phone or the battery, and if i have is it fixable or will i have to get a new one?
Unlikely although you may have damaged some files . Look in the LostFile directory on both cards .

how do i get to the lostfiles, but im 99% sure i havent damaged any files because when i put the battery back in i booted into clockworkmod recovery, did wipe data, then wipe cache partition, then wipe dalvik cache, then i flashed cm 10.1.3 RC2 then gapps,
Lost Files are on root of both int and ext card .

You'll probably need a file explorer, like SManager.. It's free on Gstore... look for the two folders/directories as per JJEgan.

Hey guyss.. I have a problem. I flashed soak test ota zip via twrp recovery..now when i install any app, it consumes a lot of space in the internal memory.. For ex if i have 400 mb used after installing lollipop ota, nd if i flash super su zip then it consumes around 60 to 70 mb of internal memory.. Moreover if i try moving apps to sd card only a part of it is transferred.. Like if i move a 40 mb app to sd card 20-25 mb goes to sd card nd rest is in internal memory. I just want to ask that whether it is a bug or somethng, cuz it never happens on cyanogenmod 12.. Plzz help..

try to reset your phone ( to delete all kitkat unused or leftover files as when i flash lollipop ota i got 1.43gb free space )and as lollipop uses ART runtime instead of dalvik which uses more space for app installation as byte code is compiled at installation time and not at runtime as dalvik runtime for more info please refer to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/dedicated-runtime-thread-art-vs-dalvik-t2516646

I heard at the nexus 4 forums that wiping cache and reset via stock recovery solves the issue.. Will try it today.. Thankss for ur help buddy
same issue
I am having this exact same issue. I flashed the soak test rom and i have factory reset my phone for like six or seven times. Still the low storage issue comes up eventually. Also the first reboot after factory reset after lollipop has never been successful. It gets stuck on the M logo and eventually i end up long press power button. After that it boots fine.
My issue is that internal storage keeps getting low and lower. When i reset i had 540 mb and now with exact same apps is around 180 mb. Which repels any app update due to insufficient storage. Junk cleaner Doesn't helps much. To keep off the constant low storage notification i am forced 5o manually delete data from messenger app from facebook which is always around 50mb. Damn i am pissed on lollipop.. i wish i could roll back but that process is way too complicated and also i am addicted to the lock screen notifications and oter features of lollipop.. so any substantial help would be greatly appreciated.
Its because of the cache on art
If you wipe the cache you will get some free space but that space will again fill up as and when you start using the apps.
So instead of freeing some space if you are rooted get link2sd or use xinternalsd with xposed otherwise switch to kitkat.
