Would you be ashamed to show your friends this? The launcher does not lag atleast. And Apple is smart using the whole screen..
Yes. Yes I would.
Because my friends would laugh at me for copying a ui that's outdated and boring.
Whatever Android fanbois say about iPhone launcher, there is one area which it's much much better than any launcher Android has to offer: The shape and size of the icons. The icons are big and easy to press. They are all the same size. On Android, icons are small and they are all different size, which results in an inconsistent UI and displeases the eye.
So, I can understand the appeal of running an iPhone like launcher on Android. I wish we could get icons to look like that with normal launchers like Apex or Nova.

I don't feel this way at all, actually. I love the variation of the Android icons. They're all 1x1 so really you can press the area they're in and still launch that app. I love the uniqueness of every icon though. It does a good job of portraying a pretty prominent aspect of Android, which is that you can do things your own way as a developer and leave it up to the user to decide if and how they use your program.

I agree to some extent that the variety in the shape of android icons can be rather frustrating at times when trying to make a pleasing UI. There are however launchers that allow you to choose the size of the icons. 20*20, 50*50, 47*47 its up to you. However as some are not uniformly square it can still be distracting for purists. Luckily there are talented graphic/icon artist making great icons we can use.

Why would anyone feel ashamed of their launcher? I'd feel ashamed going to a poor country and eating cake infront of starving people.
iPhone's launcher is simple and functional which is why so many love iPhones, android is less boring and more customisable which us why many love android and windows phone is personal which is why people choose that one the plus with android is you can look like you have an iPhone or windows phone launcher if you want, you can look like you have a basic android phone, you can personalise it and look like you have a mobile device from 2069, and if you feel ashamed by how you set your phone, or ridicule anyone else for the phone they use you need psychological help.

I'm pretty impressed with Sense 4.0. My OG Evo was senseless 100% of the time, but I don't feel bogged down by it this time around.
I still have Apex installed and use it too... But find that I don't mind using sense.
Honestly, if someone modified sense to
A) accept gestures and b) added one more row to the home screen
I don't think I would really leave it.
The "frequent" tab in the app drawer and native folder support makes all the difference.

Yup. Same here. I suppose mist of the things I like about it could probably be found in other launchers. Familiarity, I suppose. I like the adjustable transparency in app drawer, and resize all Widgets, and changing desktop grid (which i know is available in other launchers, well,...except sense)

Nova. I'd go Sense if they would add 1 more row to the screens and give me a larger / scrolling dock
I used to be a huge fan of LauncherPro until the developer dedicated all his time and effort to a music app and abandoned the launcher replacement that everyone loved. I just stick with Sense because I know I won't have to worry about any issues.
I like apex, up to seven customizable icons in the dock and landscape homescreen.

Oh, I almost forgot. Nova allows for vertical scroll in app drawer, which I love. I don't like having my desktop and drawer scroll the same way. Confused my muscle memory. Or I'm just that thick lol.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I like both Apex and Nova. Just wish one of them would add the ability to customize the app drawer grids (5x6, 6x6, etc.) and icon resizing.
I am using stock sense for now but have used Apex mostly on my tablet. I will probably use Apex once I get bored of stock or if I try out CM9 at some point.
I am not a huge fan of the rotating screen transition HTC uses so I may change a little early just to get the normal slide transition back.
I might also try Nova or whatever launcher allows the vertical scrolling app drawer. I'm not a fan of the paginated style. I feel like it was done to hide lack of smoothness of the phones in the past.
i am using apex and cant use anything else. now that themes are there too. there is a free black theme that gets rid of most of the blue. very nice

I don't know a way to make Sense rotate and since the charger/usb for these phones is on the side, a dock with Sense seems useless. I use APEX usually.

Hello everyone, ive loved android ever since i moved from the original iphone to the g1. Never much liked stock launchers until now actually. I used adw, go for a long time. Now with touchwiz on the s 3 i tried apex and nova for a 5x5 grid but i keep going back to touchwiz for features.
Just wondering what does everyone dislike about touchwiz?
Features i like (other launchers may have them and I dont know)
-holding page indicator to slide between screens especially in widgets. I have so many.
-widget view in general and adding to screen
-quickness of page sliding and behavior motion
-hiding apps in app drawer

Other than the UI which is horrible....I'm actually a fan of the new TW. AOKP/CM9 aren't quite necessary anymore due to the beast under the hood! Especially with an OC kernel...losing functions like the camera and motion is not worth it (maybe with further development in the future we may get more goodies but as of now)....I'll stick with TW and TSF Shell!

TouchWiz 4 has made significant improvements. I always thought that Samsung was confused with the previous versions of TouchWiz, like they wanted to look and feel like iOS, but didn't know they're using a better and competing operating system. I'm sure if Google didn't force manufacturers using Android to have a back button and settings button, Samsung would skip on that. TouchWiz 4 cuts down on that a lot, though the icons still piss me off. TouchWiz 4 is light on memory, RAM, and is smooth.
I still prefer Sense. Sense, although a resource hog, still has a few features over TouchWiz 4. At the same time TouchWiz 4 has features over Sense 4. But, the features that matter more to me are on Sense 4.
So, I guess I hate older versions of TouchWiz, but TouchWiz 4 isn't so bad. Not bad at all.
Still supporting the people trying to bring Sense 4 to this phone and other Samsung devices.

Agreeing with the rest of the replies here. I'm running CM10 but I found it hard to find replacements for the video and music player apps. They just worked.
I definitely think is not bad but is not as responsive as cm9(idk it probably just me and have to do a fresh flash ) but sense 4 is so nice looking too but is a hog of memory, I like stock features like battery percentage, great camera app(hated gs2 camera speed),notification toggles, swype right to call, etc but cm9 for some reason is always my favorite I could live with eathier one tho, I think touchwiz would be better if menus would be white like sense or black looking like ICS, the grey color looks outdated somehow , the green battery should be blue as well, and bring the folder option to drag and make a folder on stock launcher

Agreed the folder issue on the launcher is really the only issue I have with TW. Other than that I think it is fine.

The trashness of the folder view on touchwiz cannot be overstated. Things that are changed for worse (compared to stock) grind my gears. Just a matter of peoples personal taste I guess. I was actually shocked and baffled that you would even ask this.
I gave TW a few hours, since I had actually grown comfortable with HTC Sense on my TB. However TW was borderline unusable for me. The UI just doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, and simple tasks are made more complicated. It just seems ugly and clumsy to me. Having used Sense, Blur, and TW. I would say Sense was by far the best, and TW by far the worst. Custom launchers are better than all of them though.
I was unable to find any features that I cared about that TW gave me, that CM or far better launchers like Nova didn't. However there are many many options that Nova gives you that TW does not.
Like I said in the beginning though, it's a matter of personal taste.

I personally don't "miss" Sense, however I understand what these other folks are talking about.
Compared to TW, Sense was just a very nice looking UI. Other than just looking better than TW, it was easy to use, and didn't add extra annoyance to using the phone. Other than some limitations of the launcher, I actually really liked everything else sense provided.
I messed around with TW plenty, and I honestly just can't find anything good to say about it. The launcher is awful.
I expected as much though, with Nova installed this phone is bad *** and was everything I hoped for.
Opinions, opinions... I played with the HTC One X and I did not like the aesthetics of the UI on Sense 4.0 at all. It just looked... ugly, bulky, and consumptiuous as far as space goes. TouchWiz 5 just looks nicer to me and it's a lot easier on the phone's resources.
i HATE the way TW looks as well as sense.
ICS based launchers like apex and nova look awesome to me. So based off of that, I stick with apex. Looks great, fast, customizable
I actually was hoping to use TW. But it has one thing missing that my preferences keep me from living without: multiple scrolling docks. I was quite surprised that function was not on TW, given all the raves of how it had improved. That is a basic function available on almost any third party launcher.
I used my GS3 stock for awhile and quite got used to TouchWiz. My only complaint is how the Launcher organizes things in the app drawer. I can set it to do alphabetical, which I prefer, but folders are also placed in alphabetical order instead of at the beginning of the drawer.
I tried to go back to GoLauncher (what I used on my TBolt) but I found it to be rather sluggish.
The current versions of both Sense and Touchwiz are much better than stock ICS imo. I went to CM9 because of how much people rave about 'stock ICS' but it was pretty underwhelming. Back to TW now and enjoying it.

Hey guys..
I was just wondering whats the BEST android launcher in your opinion?
My personal favorite is Zeam Launcher. I like its minimalistic look and its blazing fast too. It does not have any fancy features and it works great.
I also like Holo Launcher. I am still on Gingerbread so the Holo Launcher is a very appealing choice for me to try out because it is an ICS launcher. Holo Launcher works great and is one of my favorite. It has a lot of cool features but for some reason.. I keep finding myself going back to Zeam.

Hey mate... I have actually tried this and I would agree with you that it is probaly the fastest launcher I have ever seen. However, it is not for everyone because their is only ONE home screen.
It may be fast but with only one home screen... its severely limited and putting apps on the home screen can sometimes screw up the grid. You just have to a little bit careful when you are placing or moving apps. Otherwise, its a great launcher.
Thanks for reminding me about this app mate...

So I'm still debating whether I want this phone or not. I currently own a galaxy nexus and I must say I like stock a lot. Ive never had sense and I wonder how it is compared to stock. I played with it at the store but I don't think it's enough to determine whether to purchase or not. I hate touch wiz and the moto skin but to me sense has always looked nice. Is it clunky or cluttered compared to stock ? Does the skin make the phone lag at all? Just some information about it would be nice since everywhere I read says it's ugly or bad.

They really took the time out to make it look great and the gpu can definitly handle it well. Keyboard sucks tho. And i wish they incorporated true mulittasking lioe touchwiz and lg ui did... One thing you will hate is that sense isnt optimized for the big display so luch homescreen and app drawer is wasted. This can be fixed by using nova or any other launcher.

Sense is fine and it runs fine on the DNA, it's not as intrusive as Touchwiz and it's not as simple as untouched Android. However that's exactly why I don't really like it. With my Nexus phone I get to experience the real android that I know and love. I get updates quick and I get to enjoy watching Android get better and better.
With my Samsung devices I know that I can't expect to get the latest from Google but I actually really like touchwiz for a lot of it's own things. Before the DNA I had the S III for a while and I loved certain functions like swiping with my palm to take a screenshot or putting the phone to my ear while texting someone to call that person. I loved being able to easily play a video on a corner while texting someone or just checking anything real quick. Touchwiz in my opinion manages to feel like a completely different experience.
With the Droid DNA, it feels like I'm just using a nicer looking version of original Android but without some of the nice things like swiping from my camera app to see the gallery right away and flick away pictures I didn't like. Not saying this is a bad thing, I'm sure plenty of people absolutely love that. Personally, i think it's lacking, but I still think the phone is amazing, I'll probably end up getting rid of my Nexus for a Note 2 and then adding some nice rom on this one to make it look Nexus...ish.

What other Sense stuff do you 'still get'? Honest question. With any other launcher, I lost my keyboard, clock, weather, dialer, calculator, calendar, pretty much everything.... Am I missing something here?

You must be thinking of something else. If you replace the launcher, the only things you lose are the widgets that come with the stock launcher, such as clock / weather. Everything else is unchanged.

I personally love HTC Sense. However I have come to love the stock android experience.
Ive used sense from OG EVO, Evo LTE, and now DNA. Sense does some pretty cool things and its VERY polished. On the DNA there is no lag and thanks to the 2GB or ram i wouldnt worry at all about it. Ive never had a single issue with it. Its really organized and easy to find what you are looking for. I would say that its the most complete android OEM launcher. Icons are very polished same goes for apps and widgets. I really dont get why people dont like it... whats not to love about it? sure stock is wonderful but sense is just as good if not better.
Someone else mentioned multitasking windows. a side note to that... its only supported by a few samsung devices running crapwiz and its very under developed. Not even avail. to US devices (without root, please correct me if im wrong on this, i dont want to mislead anyone)
I would say Sense kinda ruined the rest of android launcher experiences due to the fact that Its just really that good. I dare you to give it a whole hearted run through and tell me that it just isnt all that... go ahead try it.

All of which, are stock widgets as he stated. When you replace the sense ui, you lose all Sense widgets.

Those are just the widgets though, Sense is much more then the widgets. For example, you have all the great sharing options, the cool animations, lock screen widgets, and all the widgets you mentioned still have their apps you can open. So no, you don't lose sense just by switching launchers, you lose just the nice widgets, and you can find replacements for most of them in the play store. :good:

The Sense seems like an alternative launcher, where as the Touchwiz makes itself seem like a different OS entirely, due to all the Touchwiz gimmicks integrated through out the system.
I honestly love the Sense UI. I've used it since my Incredible, and every custom ROM I've put on that and my Rezound has had Sense. I don't find that it negatively affects performance in any way, and (for me at least) it greatly enhances the user experience. I was helping my girlfriend set up her new Asus Transformer Tablet running stock 4.1 Jellybean, and also her mom's new SIII, and the lack of widgets and functionality from Sense that I've now taken for granted was seriously bothering me. Plus, Sense is pretty

You hate moto skin ? The new one looks great on the razr m... Ok but to your question the sense skin is simply beautiful.

I have to agree. I bought my stepdaughter a razr m and my opinion of moto went up a notch. It's at notch one.

Hello guys!
I'm looking for a replacement home to my Galaxy Tab. I currently use iLauncher but I want something new that is iOS like. By iOS like I mean something that doesn't have an app drawer, which I kinda find useless. It would be cool if I could add widgets to the screens.
Apart from iLauncher and Espier (too much ads), do someone knows some launcher that have those features?
try MiHome Launcher

If you don't like espier, than you won't find anything better. Espier is best in emulating ios style. Every other launcher are just crap with ugly icons and shiny dock...

Espier has too many crap with it... Also, I don't want a perfect emulation of iOS style, I just want a launcher where all apps are on homescreens and it doesn't have an app drawer.
