Just as the title states. Has anyone attempted to factory reset WebOS with Android installed? I'm pretty sure it'll either:
A) Brick the tablet
B) Erase Android
I'm selling my Touchpad and the buyer wants Android installed. I can easily wipe my accounts from Android (install a new rom) but how would I remove my account from WebOS while keeping Android installed?
hello
you can see here

Thanks for the response but that didn't answer my question. I have used WebOS Doctor and it did erase Android. I'm trying to wipe WebOS while keeping Android.

You are going to have to set the Touchpad back up [into webOS], and reinstall Android, then got back into webOS, and reset your settings, as in factory reset, so that it erases all your user data in webOS, but don't do the full erase, it may erase the Android info, and repartition [not quite sure]
That should do it for you, clean webOS, and a functional Android partition
With the forward progress of the Android Alphas, I feel like my touchpad is teetering and slowly becoming more and more cluttered. Call me an OCD freak but right now I need help going back to square one;
I want to wipe the touchpad completely, of android, webos, all data.
Reinstall webos fresh and clean and updated.
Install the 3.5 release of the android alpha
continue loving my touchpad
If anyone knows what I need to accomplish these goals, let me know? Thanks.
use WebOS doctor and wipe everything clean).
Then open webos, do anything you need to do there.
Then install android on it.

There is a preware app that removes everything android, that's out. I have not tried it but it sounds good if you want to start over.
Web-doc does not remove all the files and folders. I thank it just changes the format.
so no one knows a way to just format everything?
Wipe Everything
I also would like to know how to wipe everything including all android partitions and ext3fs partitions (from ubuntu). I think I read somewhere the doctor doesn't rewrite partition tables. Any help would be great!
I would assume do a acmeuninstall then webos doctor it

Hi everyone, new to xda.
I also thought it would be a good idea to wipe my TP clean and re-install with the latest version of xron's build. I've had every version of cm7 since it was first released and countless apps, so it was kind of cluttered up. Anyway, uninstalled with the acmeuninstaller and then did a factory erase in webos. Went about my business as usual with the acme installer (with cwm and moboot and the newest xron). Thought all was well until I boot to cwm, no cyanogenmod option! I flashed it using cwm, but I heard somewhere they don't recommend that, so I started over again, and flashed EVERY release from day 1 to the latest one. TP seems cleaner and less cluttered, but I was wondering why the acmeinstaller wouldn't recognize the xron file and install it?

I think you need to rename the xron filename to start with "update-...." and then do the acmeinstall with remaining 2 files i.e. cmw n moboot

since installing android partitions the memory, wouldn't you have to remove the android partition first in order to truly wipe the touchpad?
Once the partition is removed, you could use OS doctor to wipe what's left, and start fresh. At least that's what I'm thinking.
I read elsewhere that you can format the Touchpad in a Linux distro and remove all of the partitions. I have not tried it but I will when I get home and have a better internet connection.
since upgrading from 3.02 to 3.04, my touchpad has been giving me a lot of trouble. I lost android access and had to reflash moboot, after which i found out i couldnt access CWM. I tried flashing it through ACME but it didn't work. Installed Xron and the files got mixed up with the previous android version.
I'd like to wipe everything off including the SD. And then do a fresh restore with WebOS doctor after which im gonna install CM9
Any advice?
I'd run ACMEUninstaller first, then webosdoctor.
ACMEUninstaller repartitions the drive and removes android. But webOS doctor doesn't wipe the SD.
ACMEUninstaller will completely remove Android. WebOS doctor will restore the webOS side of your tablet to its original "out of the box" state. Unless your intentions are to brick your device by "wiping" it clean, I would agree with the ACMEUninstaller/webOS doctor method.

I'm confused. Currently, my SD partitions are kinda wacked up because I had alot of stuff on the WebOS side before installing android.
Have Xron on it currently.
Should I use ACMEUninstaller, reinstall Android CM7, then flash CM9 straight over?
Or should I just wipe, then flash CM9 over?

I could be mistaken, but the OP's original question was to basically start from a "clean slate". So we were just saying to use ACMEUninstaller then webOS Doc to achieve that. If you're concerned about the partitions and you don't mind the wipe, then that's what I would do if I were you.
Leo will probably have better input than me, but if I were in your shoes, I would do the ACMEUinstaller on your current version of Android. You don't have to reinstall CM7, just make sure you put the ACMEInstaller2 in the appropriate spot.

How about the SD?/
WebOS and Android use the same partition for SD, which is /media. You can wipe that yourself if you want by just mounting to computer and deleting what's in there. But yea, there are files for both systems in that partition, nothing that will brick you by deleting them though.

Ziyad I'm not trying to be mean, but either I am not understanding your question or you're not understanding our answers. I'm going to break down your thread title bit by bit...
"How to remove android..." Pause there. Use ACMEUninstaller.
"...wipe SD..." I am assuming you realize the Touchpad does not have an SD. So we will continue.
"...and start with a FRESH Touchpad." WebOS Doctor. This is a sure way to do it. WEBOS Doc will reinstall a FRESH copy of webOS onto your Touchpad, bringing it to out of the box condition. It will wipe the /media file like the previous post mentioned.

Okay so you currently have android installed, and want to upgrade to CM9 but also repair you touchpad. I would recommend the following:
1. run ACMEUninstaller
2. run WebOS doctor
3. delete everything off your /SD card that you don't want/need
4. update to WebOS 3.0.5
5. install CM9/moboot 3.0.5/CWM using ACMEInstaller2

Thanks a lot for your replies
But I still can't access CWM through moboot. I'm doing it manually by pushing the uImage.clockworkmod via novacom to get access and flash zips.
I even tried reinstalling CWM through ACMEInstaller2(flashed CM9 on my touchpad btw)
Can't you just do a full wipe in WebOS and then literally start at a clean slate, i.e. no Android and cleaned SD card?
What you want to do is follow THIS GUIDE HERE. It shows you how to completely remove Android, re-partition the device, and start completely fresh as if you had just opened the box of your brand-new HP Touchpad when it ran 3.0.0. I follow this guide about every 2-3 months just to make sure everything's running clean and good, and I have yet to ever run into problems.
It completely restores it to factory levels - partitions, WebOS 3.0.0, nothing else. It is your go-to guide on what you should do to start fresh.
From there, read the guide on Rootz and install CM9, and then from there, flash whatever ROM you wanna try out and enjoy.

yes Jcsullins TPtoolbox here will remove all the data, including WebOS, when you do a complete data reset.
I haven't used the Touchpad in a while, and I have three different boot options, WebOS, CM8 and CM9.
If I doctor it, that will still leave the CM's there?
How do I get it back to factory settings?

After you doctor, reinstall moboot again, your Android files will still be there.
There's an utility (classic nerd's) that will clean up the moboot menu. To get back to factory settings I think you have to use android remover (or something like that) from webos then run something like secure full erase.
Make sure you have a good backup, just in case.
Run ACMEUninstaller before anything else , after that you should be left with only Webos.
If that is the case boot into Webos run preware and search install and run Android uninstaller, this will remove moboot.
If you have the 32 gig version it should show the TOUCHPAD's hard drive as 27.2 gig instead of 25.5 . You can then do factory reset within Webos and then upgrade to the latest version or if you wish or just install whatever version of Android you want without resetting and or upgrading.
I hope this helps, if you have a problem post back or pm.
Hi I bought a Nook Tablet running CM 10.13 stable, wanting to restore to stock. I did restore it using Nookunrooter apk. However, it is really laggy and when I tried to restore it back to factory settings again I saw the android menu come up before it switched to the 'Nook: Read forever'. Is the android still on it and that's why it is lagging so much.
You might want to consider this method for a clean restore to stock ROM (v1.4.2):

Hi,
applying an APK to any install would (generally) only make changes to the running system software in a somewhat small way
The method posted here: will return the unit to bone stock, 100% , refreshing the system with factory versions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663836
(same method/image as digixmax posted)
(download the image, create an SD card, boot and run the card, and it returns you and your partitions to factory version 1.42)
if you have anything on the tablet , it wont be there when you are done....
you might want to check before you reflash it , if the system settings screen is aware of the serial number, ie: can you register an account on the NOOK with Barnes & Noble as it sits now ? because if the person you bought it from made a mistake, then you may end up with a unit that your only option is to run an alternate version of something, not the factory software.
good luck
edit: I guess if you were running CM10, you wouldnt have any access to the "stock" software anyway, so if you want bone stock and then install something better (CM11 is really, really good...) then sure , might as well start it off totally fresh.

I actually tried using the method from this link before the apk, but the nook would just keep booting into CM10. That's when I decided to just use the apk. I am on stock, but it's really buggy and if you look on the link you sent me when I tried to do a factory reset on stock it gave me the message show int he last picture "Clearing data.. A reset is being preformed this may take few minutes." that's why I figured some trace of the CM was still on here.

I'll try and see if this works again, now that I am on 'stock'. Thanks, tell you how it turns out.
