Cannot wake Tablet S, needs a reset - Sony Tablet S

I am getting this several times a week. It lives on the Sony charger dock but quite often will not wake and has to be reset o get it to work. I even get this when it's flashing that I have notifications.

Me too, since one week

Did you mean restart?, I do get the issue has well due to something in the background was ignoring the lockscreen or something but you can force power off.

No I have to put a paperclip into the reset hole for a few seconds before anything happens. Don't seem to lose any settings but it does then restart

Did you try a force power off (Hold power for a while)?

Yep it will not turn off or on, only thing that seems to work is paperclip into the reset hole

what firmware are you on and are you rooted?

Completely standard and on the latest version. No updates available when I check.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

if possible i would consider sending it back for repair.
i'm not sure that there is anything you could do your self to fix the problem at the moment.
my xperia tab has smiler issue like not responding to wake directly and might take longer some times but eventually does wake, without needing to be reset.
have you tried to run it completely stock?
without any adjustment to settings or adding accounts just like it's fresh out of the box.

Seems Sony know something about irony. Picked up the tablet tonight and there was an update waiting for me. We'll see how this version goes

All seems fine since update

mines been doing this ever since i did the latest stock update. i have to reset with a pin everyday now just to get it to come back on if its been left for too long

Last update defiantly fixed mine.

[Q] Apps reload when I turn device back on or switch back to an app

When I'm reading a long story on a website my phone sometimes turns the screen off thinking it was left on by mistake. This wouldn't be a problem except when I turn my phone back on it reloads the app/website I was on and throws me all the way back to the top making me have to figure out where I was just reading. Same thing will happen when I switch to a different app and come back to it. I assume this is the dreaded HTC Multitasking "feature" that everyone hates. Is there away to fix this?
Roms fix this.

Back button problems...

It seems that my back button intermittently stops working. It does it no matter what ROM I'm using (att cleanrom or any international ROM). It seems to do it using most any kernel as well. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason when it happens...it just stops working for about 20 secs...maybe happens 5-6 times a day. Anyone else having these issues?

Looking around a little bit, it appears to be a known issue with this phone. Doesn't really seem to be ROM dependent. Like the phone, but probably going to dump it, as this doesn't seem to be something a software update can fix.

Same problem. Turning off hepatic feedback on the buttons only seems to have greatly improved the problem.

As stated previously, the international roms have the updated fix for our phones. I'm currently running arhd 7.4 and things are fine. Eventually I think our forums are going to be merged with the international.

Software update fixes it completely. HTC already released it for an international model.
I had the same problem and interestingly enough, after I stopped using the DoubleDip case they make, the problem quit. That and cutting my screen protector to not cover the buttons.

As soon as I cut around the back and home button the problem went away completely.

I'm having the same problem as well lately. Back button occasionally stops working for me, and I incorrectly assumed the problem was the 3 dot mod. I'm using an Invisible Shield for the moment, so cutting would be a messy and unforgiving option. I'm also waiting for some other screen protectors I ordered to arrive in the mail.

Home and back button sometimes do not respond

Sometimes the home button won't respond when I hit it, while other times the back button doesn't work. They never both quit working, only one or the other. Once I turn the screen off then back on it fixes the issue or get to the home screen, the button will suddenly begin working.
Anyone know why?
Are you using a custom kernel?
I've had this happen to me as well. I thought it was a problem with the screen protector that I had recently installed, but not true.
The same thing for me as well, turning the screen off and then on makes the capacitive buttons work again. I have had it where sometimes both are not working, but usually it is just the home button more often.
And for myself, no, I am still on the stock ROM
Yeah I'm on stock as well. Was going to unlock it but if I need to return the device to att I want to figure out what is wrong first.
The sprint version got an update to fix this exact issue....here's hoping att does the same or this thing goes back before I break it!!! :banghead:

Mine does the same. Hope ATT release the update quick, because this ruine the whole experience on such a great device.
Same problem with me. Day 1 I got the phone, Day 2 exchanged it. Now day 12 and have continuously been having problems, even since the swap. AT&T store guy told me they don't know when they are getting the update. Don't know if I should hold out or swap to SGS4 :crying:
None of the store people usually know any of that stuff

I can't speak for everyone, But Scotts CleanRom 2.5 fix's a lot of stuff AT&T screwed up
and it definitely make's the touch more responsive. The Home and Back buttons are working much better with Cleanrom
in 2.5 he updated to the newest leaked AT&T version 502.12, I be leave the fix was a part of that.

Screen sensor bug

Has anyone experienced issues with the screen sensor not responding well while on a call?
Sometimes if you lock the screen while on a call and you try to unlock it the screen with shut off as soon as you touch it and will remain on that behavior until the call is ended, therefore not letting you unlock the phone or perform any other activities on the phone.
Anyone?

Yes! It happens to me rather frequently. Thanks for starting this post. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

It's funny because this is the 2nd HTC phone that I can report with this bug. I had the Evo 4G LTE before this one and it suffered the same issue even after all official updates.
The only solution with that phone was to flash a custom ROM which was good, but up to now I'm still on the fence about rooting this one; stock on this phone is stable and bloatware is minimal, I haven't justified taking the plunge yet.

I'm with you there. I did root mine... but only for data restore purposes. It may sound crazy.. but I don't want SwiftKey to start over with learning my typing habits. Other than that, like you, this phone and my Nexus 4 are the only two phones that I have had no desire to install a custom ROM. Fingers crossed that there is a solution other than that.

Yes, happened with me quite a few times. Once a call is initiated (phone speaker on or off) and the screen goes black (due to proximity sensor), no amount of tinkering will bring it back until you press the power button which kills the call. It is damn annoying and am hoping there is a fix.
The phone is on 1.29 M7 TMobile ROM, rooted with S-OFF
I had that problem too on LG L7. Tried with various roms and nothing. But I fixed somehow with the app called "proximity actions". It lets you command your phone with hand suggestion via proximity sensor. I only installed it to check the hardware, wether the sensor works. I have no idea what happened, but it started to work again. The app somehow toggled the sensor and brought it back to life.

Not sure if all ROMs have the option but you can go in to the accessibility options and turn off power button ends call.

I've noticed this issue has significantly increased amongst other things like freezing since I unlocked my bootloader. :what:

Never once has this happened to me. Bone stock.
Guess that's another reason I don't trust "IMAROM CHEFS!" ROMs that are "cooked up" on some random internet user's computer.
Stock is fine these days, IMO. Outgrew the glitchy nature of kitchen ROMs and such.

Been using ROMs for years and I've hand,y ups and downs, I can't say I've had a horrible experience with any ROM I've used on any of my past phones. Now I do agree with you about the stability of stock ROMs these days and also the better specs of the phone. For instance I haven't rooted nor unlocked my phone because I personally feel that the delivered product is good and haven't felt the necessity to tinker with it. The issue described is with stock, not custom ROM.
With that said or you haven't had the scenario for it to happen or your just the lucky one....

VIBRATE issue

Hi!
Sometimes vibrate in my Xperia Z2 doesn't work... :crying: What is going on?
Ive have the issue too and it seems to be a hardware issue
The issue persists across firmwares
Im replacing my device in hopes i dont face the same issue, i recomend you do the same if posible

I was having this issue as well but it seems to have stopped randomly after a little. What I did was touch a magnet to the bottom on back and hopefully set it back in place. Hasn't stopped in over 24 hours. Another thing I'd recommend is if you're bootloader unlocked and you're turning you're voltage down to stop cause that could be the cause of it since the motor isn't getting enough voltage
Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
Well I spoke too soon... Just stopped vibrating till I hit it. Sigh :/

So I'm bringing the phone into square trade... They're gonna look at it and see if they can fix it... I hope they notice it since it's not all the time... If they can't fix it they're gonna reimburse me for it.
