[Q] how many MB freespace do you have in System - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I know it varies across the board on how much freespace we have in our System folder.
I was just interested in seeing how much MB others have trimmed down in their System folder..
Mine says 1.00gb used 722 mb free
Heck over 240 mb of freed space was just from the tutorial videos in media/ videos..anyway thought the topic would be good...
Heres a screenshot of my gb used and mb free

Here is all my apps in a screenshot and if you see some more I can trim just let me know..thanks

I believe the specs says 512mb of ram, and 1gb of ROM. What is the difference I don't know, but I"m sure it runs out of "ram". I don't know if we have access to the "rom". Hope it helps!

um.. I'm talking about Rom, not RAM. Internal memory is Rom. It should have 1GB ROM, but only showing 550mb...
Anyway, I've solved the problem, the logservice of Dell Venue keeps creating log files up to 2mb each each time I force close the apps, and therefore has eaten up all ROM! I've got to root it to clear these useless log files.
Oh, sorry, didn't know the phone had EXTERNAL ram...my bad. You see, my Venue has 512MB INTERNAL RAM and 1GB INTERNAL ROM. Where did you get your Venue from...???
I didn't mean to offend you and thanks for your reply. Anyway i've checked my friend's Venue and it's also showing 550mb, very strange indeed.

Hi, can you tell me where log files are kept? Since I found out this issue, when Force Close happens, I choose Log to SD Card then I can delete manually. But for ones logged on ROM I don't know where.
My Venue rooted.

Mysterious memory usage?

hi people
I have a mini pro sk17i
Real ics 6
Panic k
My apps are linked with link 2 sd
I used to have between 80mb - 90mb used always and had nearly 300mb ram free but ive just noticed theres like 200mb unacounted for?
Ive relinked apps and cleared some cache but same prob.
Any ideas?

1- data memory from apps doesn't have anything to do whatsoever with ram memory.
2- some ram memory is reserved for system usage and won't be displayed in system settings.
3- unused ram is wasted ram.
I meant my internal memory.
Ram is ok
Just have 200 taken by something and im not sure what

Im still stumped on this
I have 80mb internal left now.
I used to have 80 used, not 80mb left.
I have v6 supercharger if that could cause it?
Also all my apps are linked with link2sd just last few days ive had so much internal memory used
is it easier to reinstall my rom? Or is there something I could do to see whats eating all this up?
My ram is fine

Interesting.
I notice the same. Almost 70-80MB missing.
If I add my running and free memory as seen in settings -> applications I consistently get ~200MB
So, are we not accounting for an allocation of RAM somewhere?
I have also read somewhere Android 2.3 allocates about 100MB to the system processes as #free -m reports 285MB available in total.
In the 'running' applications I don't see the XPERIA Home process 32MB(app size) and Status Bar process 32MB(app size) and if I start the widget picker, it's not shown as a running application either but they are active system processes and thus allocated memory.
Now if you add all these 'other' applications that are not in the running apps list the used memory may make more sense.
Looking at the system through a terminal emulator and commands like ps, free and etc may provide some insight too.
I have a feeling(I don't know for sure), any reinstall of the ROM may mean you just end up with the same results.

Storage space vs Manage apps space

If I go into the Storage option under settings I see that my internal storage has 577mb free with 1.7gb in use. If I go into apps and show all (vs downloaded) after a minute or so the total down the bottom, which started out matching the other numbers, changes to 870mb free and 1.4gb used. Any clue how that discrepancy happens? I keep getting low space warnings about the 577mb free and trying to figure out what's up because when I add up my app usage, it is nowhere near 1.7gb. Thoughts?
The answers for this will vary depending on what ROM you are on and if you are on pure stock as well

storage space

Hi people,
Well. Without the possibility to move apps to the sd card i am trying to find other ways to make the most of my 128 gb so that i can make the system rom as light and spacey as i can.
I'm rooted and using a custom kernel at the moment. Bloatware not useful to me is being removed but still there's little improvement on the system rom space where i now have 599 mb free space left. In my noobish mind more space is a faster phone but maybe i'm wrong.... since i had phones the lack of space on the system rom always bothered me.
So maybe there are more ways to get the space free on the system rom? Somebody there in s6 world that knows something and can help? Or must i not be bothered of the system rom space?
Would appreciate it!
Thanks
Patrick
Do you have tons of music and videos saved to your phone? There is an app called SD maid that can help clean out any extra random crap you have laying around. How in the world do you fill up that much space on a phone. did you somehow mess up a partition?

Hi Phrostbite, thanks for taking time for my question.
I have no problems with the S6. It's running smooth.
the partition i did not disturb that in any way.
Don't have any music or video's on the phone.
system ram> 3.78 gb. 599mb free space
Intern storage, rom> 122gb. 119 free space
Maybe i should do more reading about how the s uses the ram in combination with the intern storage but in my humble opinion more space is better so i'm looking tot get more free space on that 3.78 gb system ram.
Getting rid of adds/bloatware does not seem to change anything/much??
Just found some tekst on ram space. It says that clearing space on ram will not give good results.
