[Q] Best ROM close to stock - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently swapped my evo 4g lte for an S3. What would you all recommend to be the best custom ROM out there that is as close to stock?

2 things.
1. Are you on sprint? If so, don't you have a Sprint GS3 not an international GS3? If you do have a Sprint GS3 you are in the wrong place..
2. Best Rom threads are not allowed as it's a very subjective subject

[Q] Amaze 4G or Galaxy S II, which is better?

So i need some input, i have had HTC phones for years now, and i'm switching to a new carrier T-Mobile and am faced with the decision of staying with HTC and getting the Amaze 4G , or try something new and get the Galaxy S II?
I am coming from using the Evo Shift, So I'm wondering which of the 2 would be better in terms of rooting, development, performance...
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

[Q] To Galaxy S-II (Sprint) from Droid Charge (Verizon)

I am considering moving from Verizon to Sprint (for reasons unrelated any handset I have now or could get). If I move, this means getting rid of my Samsung Droid Charge, which I like a lot, and getting a phone on the Sprint network. As near as I can tell the Galaxy S-II (Epic) is the top of the line phone at Sprint, so that's what I would probably get.
Q. -- Are there any reasons *not* to buy a Galaxy S-II (Epic)?
Q. -- It looks like there's a cagillion ROMs for Galaxy S-II. Will all of them work on Sprint's version of it (the Epic, which is a CDMA phone)? Or are some ROMs only available for the GSM versions of the handsets?
Q. -- I've never used ICS, but I suppose that I'd install an ICS ROM. Which one or two is considered the best (favoring stability over speed)?
Q. -- I've been running a wireless tethering app on my Droid Charge, instead of paying Big V thirty bucks a month for tethering privileges. Assuming that I root a Galaxy S-II (Epic), will I be able to tether from it, without getting nabbed by Sprint? Will I need an outside app to do that or will any rooted Galaxy S-II do this?
Thanks in advance.
A. Sprint may be getting the Galaxy Nexus soon. If you like the phone, that may be one reason not to buy the SGS2. New phones are coming very soon within the months.
A. All roms here in the i9100 section will NOT work the Sprint SGS2. Check out the Epic 4G section of XDa:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=713
A. Ask the question there regarding a good rom. It may be suggested to use a gingerbread rom for better stability.
A. You can try using certain apps in google play for tether. Again, just confirm with the epic 4g section if sprint watches this or not.
Thank you, Kaze105.
The Droid Charge has one forum for its GSM and CDMA versions, so I didn't think to look for a different forum for the Epic variant of the Galaxy S-II. Sorry to post in the wrong place, but thanks for the info.
Would the Nexus, once available, be considered superior to the Galaxy S-II (any variant)?
FYI, Sprint SGS2 is actually the Epic 4g Touch. It's forum is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1281.
As far as comparison to the Nexus, depends on your point of view. Nexus has no external sd card slot, but does come with AOSP Android, so no TouchWiz. Screen is different as well, as well as camera. It's a subjective thing.

[Q] Unlocked SGH-i777 on Tmobile 4G?

I just recently acquired from a trade an unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-i777 and I am using it for T-Mobile. Is it possible for this phone to receive any higher speed of data besides EDGE? I currently am on the 4G data plan and for some reason the data connection on this phone is slower compared to my previous phone. Thanks!
Dear baby Jesus,
Please grant these people with the ability to search and understand that Google exists.

No....the i777 is only a quad-band phone, it doesn't have the t-mo 4g capabilities. So far the Note is the only Sammy phone I know of that can be flashed to work on the t-mo 4g. The next batch of phones, like the One X and SGS3 are pentaband and should work fine....but for what you've got you're stuck on EDGE.

Nope. The only bands that the phone has compatibility for are the ones that TMo use for Edge. The i777 does not have the hardware to support the 3G bands for TMo.
This has been discussed several times and a search would yield that. As such, Im going to close this thread as the answer has been given and there is no need for any further discussion about this. It the OP needs more answers, he can either post in an existing thread of the same topic or PM me directly... Im also closing this to prevent the trolls from getting their flame on.

[Q] boost mobile possible?

My iphone on tmobile pre paid is the worst service and net I ever had.I had a touch pro 2 on boost and I loved it. no problems at all. Is it possible to get the s2 on boost?? Would I easily be able to do it myself?
Considering boost mobile uses sprint network, the i9100 is not compatible. The sprint SGS2 may be compatible, but AT&T and Tmobile SGS2 wont work for boost mobile.
Note: There are a ton of SGS2, it would be better to be specific on which one you are talking about. (i9100, i9100G, i777, SPH-D710, T989(
A sprint galaxy s ii epic 4g touch, yes you can flash that to boost. A i9100 or any other gsm galaxy s ii. No..
Ok good. I know the gsm and cdma cant be mixed. Im getting a sprint s2 within a month and I wanna be ready to flash and unlock. or do I just have to unlock?
Anyway is there a tutorial? what are my options and what is most recoomended?

I'd advise you to ask your Sprint Galaxy S II (aka "Epic 4G Touch") questions in the relevant forum for that device, which is the Epic 4G Touch forum.
As already stated, this forum is specific to the I9100.

The sarcasm is a bit thick there, buddy. I was only suggesting you post on the relevant forum because you'd be much more likely to get someone who knows the answer there, since Epic 4g Touch users are much more likely to see it there, instead of here.

I have Sprint Galaxy S II can it work on Verizon?

The question is simple. My old Fascinate screen is slowly breaking and I got a free phone so I figured I try. Besides the obvious and unmentionable would it require a custom rom or flashing for it to be accepted by verizon or could I used forced verizon roaming on current rom?

This phone (the I9100) is a GSM phone that doesn't even work on Sprint's CDMA network.
Go to the forum for the Sprint Galaxy S II (also known as the Epic 4G Touch) to ask your question... though I think the answer is "maybe", if you can find a device to use as a donor for the ESN number. And on top of that, I don't think you'll get very good data speeds with a Sprint phone on the Verizon network. But I'm not positive on how CDMA phones work though.
