Carbon fiber-look (3M DI-NOC) on my Note II - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I'm one of those people who hated the Verizon branding on the Note II. I've done this mod on most of my recent phones. It's very simple and involves some 3M DI-NOC carbon-fiber looking vinyl and careful trimming (and a hair dryer for the corners).
I hand-cut the button and the rear cover. I bought a sheet of this from an eBay seller a while ago. I like the way it looks, especially compared to the stock back. It also adds a bit of grip.

Pretty cool lookin! :good:

Great job! This looks so much better than those cheesy aluminum stickers.
Sadly, I have white. But the branding really doesn't bother me.

I usually shy away from the carbon fiber everything style but this looks nice and clean. Good work

I did that to my nexus but the carbon fiber actually made it more slick. It was the same stuff too..... I might give it a go again to see if it improved my n2

The company Phantom Skinz makes a carbon fiber kit that looks like this. And they offer it in different colors.

iCarbons skin

I received my carbon fiber skin last week (back only) from icarbons.com and this thing is so great I needed to share with everyone...
The skin covers the entire back, it was very simple to install, the fit is perfect (used a hair dryer to make sure corner edges were down) and there is no "bubbling" effect. The best part IMO is the feel of this skin. It's not like your typical glossy sticker feeling cheap-o skin, it has a nice grip feeling if that makes any sense and the quality is top notch.
Here’s a link directly to the skin.

Looks good!
Amazing this skin! When I will have my Evo 3D (in few months snif...), I will buy it!
Thanks to share that with us!
that looks clean!!

Only thing I can think of to compare it to is it almost feels like the ridges on the oem battery door.
It's pretty nice feeling, as it doesnt feel like just a sticker is on the phone - more like its natural and a part of the phone.
I bought one!
Finally broke down and bought this skin for my MacBook Air... I love it, not as hard to install as I thought it would be.
With a little time, an exacto knife and some extreme patients and a steady hand you could make a carbon fiber skin just like the OP's yourself. Here is a link to an Ebay search for Carbon Fiber samples. You could also search Google. Most of these are 4" by 8" samples for $1.99. There are some larger samples for $5. I think there may even be a tut on how to do it in the OG Evo forums. Of course the holes cut would be different, but the concept is the same.

Correct! I did this to my white Evo 4G. I bought a black battery door and wrapped it in the carbon fiber. It turned out awesome an no one believed that I made it because it looked sooooo good. The feel of the material is very nice. I used it for a few months and it looked like it did the day I put it on the entire time. I just received my stock 3D battery door that I bought on eBay. I considered doing the carbon fiber to it, but I'm afraid that the texture on the stock door may cause issues. I may just paint a red stripe on my extra door, haven't decided yet. Also, i plan on buying a big sheet of the carbon fiber anyway to wrap the top of my new 17" HP Envy laptop. with the extra I'll probably try my 3D battery door. If it doesn't turn out good then I can just peel it off.... we'll see

Went on eBay ab ordered 2 "sample" sheets. They are each 4" x 8" each. Got one in red carbon fiber and one in white carbon fiber. In about an hour I'm going to get a 24" x 48" black carbon fiber sheet. Going to wrap the top of my 17" HP laptop and will have enough extra to do my battery door in black also. I'm thinking I may wrap the smooth part of my Commuter case in the red.

Damn... the price is what killed it for me. That looks sooooo good though... if only someone was up to making legitimate carbon fiber battery doors. I don't care about the price, I'd buy one in seconds.

I agree about the price. That's why i bought the material to make my own. .99 cents to1.99, and free shipping, for a sheet of carbon fiber big enough to cover the battery door and camera area

Getting mine later today can't wait
Received mine today and it's a really nice case. It's not quite as snug as the Tudia Melody case (which is pretty nice for the price) so I suspect that one of the thicker screen protectors would like fit nicely and make the case a bit tighter.
The Bounce has a really nice feel to it, although it's quite a bit more slick than the Melody. The Melody has a more supple texture to it around the edges, making it a bit easier to grip.
As far as looks, the Bounce easily beats the Melody. It has very sleek, modern look to it.
Tudia Ultra Slim Melody case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F3U7DC0/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
just got mine also, Ordered on the Oct 20 from main company website (to Canada paid premium shipping to guarantee no custom charges). I got combo with glas t slim (not r) and all seems well. I was under the impression that the glas had individual cutouts for sensors and camera but it is a single opening for ear speaker and sensors. No opening for camera. I think I just got confused. Grey bounce with orange button. I really found the phone just way too slim and the beveled edges of the bounce help to fix that. Still I think a monster battery is in my future. Overall nice purchase and better/easier to grab and go. Just put the glas and protector on so haven't used it yet, but just the front lip makes it much nicer to handle. Love the side buttons.
Just got my bounce case, feel very solid and the side buttons are very smartly designed. Highly recommend, they should produce more colors to choose from.

Incipio DualPro Case Review.

Here is my quick review of the new Incipio DualPro Case. First I want to say sorry for the blurry pics. Wasn't taken with the best camera, but I wanted to get this up now.
Right off the bat this case feels great. It's almost gel-like. It's made of a hard shell, and very soft inner part, but both feel the same. It's like a feltish feel. Reminds me of the Nexus One's back. Even though it was hard plastic, it had that soft touch feel to it. The buttons are extremely easy to press thanks to the soft inside material being the cover instead of the hard outer shell, or individual pieces like the Spigen Neo-Hybrid. The overall thickness is also less compared to both the Neo-Hybrid and the Spigen Slim Armor. It almost feels like the naked phone without a case.
The cutouts are spot on too. Just like the Slim Armor. No complaints overall. Again the headphone port has a deep cutout, so you will need an extension, or just use headsets with thin jacks. Anything larger than the headphones that came with it won't fit. The camera is tucked in just enough, so there is no fear of it contacting any surface when put down, and the front is thick enough to protect any sort of surface if laid face down. I'm really happy with this case. For me it's a toss up between the Slim Armor and this with the Neo-Hybrid last. Both the Slim Armor and DualPro feel great in the hand, but the DualPro feels a bit better with the super soft touch feel. Great case that you can't go wrong with. The color is Cyan.

Thanks for the pictures & review, this may be my kind of case. One question though, how is the gripping on the sides? All I need in a case now is one that provide sufficient grip, since the Note 3 is so thin and slippery on the sides that sometimes it literally slides off my hands/grip.
The grip on the sides Isn't super slick but I wouldn't call it grippy either. I'd try and check it out in a VZW store first hand. My only complaint is the TPU insert doesn't have much rigidity around the home button and the speaker. So it snags and doesn't stay snug so to speak.
I'm probably going to return mine when my Uag arrives

This is the only case so far that I'm really having an easy time holding. The Slim Armor was the best I thought, but this one is just a perfect increase in size over the naked phone. The rubbery texture is more than enough to grip. When you first put it on it may feel a bit slippery, but it's just the talcom powder they use in the molds for the silicone to be easy to get out. I wiped mine down, and now it's a soft rubbery grippy feeling case. I really like it a lot. Plus the sides are curved. There are no corners that you need to grip against like the Neo-Hybrid or Slim Armor. It's a very natural feeling to hold it since your fingers wrap the entire case. One bonus feature I found for me is the entire bottom is the very soft inner case, and the way I hold the phone I tend to put my pinky under the bottom as a brace. The soft gel really is easy on my finger. The other two case are hard on the bottom, and I would have to keep moving my pinky to stay comfy.

That's a good additon to mention. The top and bottom are both just the soft inner case. There is no hard outer shell to keep it pressed against the phone, so if you tend to put it in your pocket I can see it getting caught and pulled when you try to pull it out, but overall with it being on the case and used, it doesn't "wobble or flipflop" by itself. It's stiff enough to stay put, but easy enough to pull away with a slight tug.
Ah yeah I wasn't clear. It stays put until it snags coming in and out of my pocket. It's merely an annoyance.
My favorite thing about the case is how comfortable it is. Holding the phone naked now feels sharp and uncomfortable.

Looks great!! Thanks for the review and your initial thoughts on it! Looks really good on your white GN3! I also bought a white GN3, so this is perfect for keying me know how this will look on mine! Thank you!!
One thing, you should put a link in the OP so readers can easily find this case, instead of having to search the web for it. Other than that, which you can easily fix with an edit, excellent review!

How'd you get your case so quickly? I pre-ordered directly from incipio.com about 2 weeks ago and still haven't received a shipping notice.
EDIT: Oh, apparently the blue and pink versions are shipping NOW, but the neutral white and black versions are taking a little longer. Ah well.

I'm special. LOL Yeah just as your edit said. I check sites daily, and when I see them in stock I order ASAP. That's how I get all my case in before everyone. I check first thing in the morning (around 8). I find I can order in the morning with "in stock" stuff, and by afternoon they are already out of stock.

I picked up a DualPro SHINE, Brushed silver color, from the Verizon store, They were able to pick up the day note3 came out. They still sell them, It's a the best over the counter case you can get IMHO at the moment.
How does this case compare to the spigen bounce? I just ordered the bounce to try it out.
I loved this case on my SG4 but it was a Lint & Dust magnent. I think there is a correlation with most cases....the grippier the case...the more dust and lint it will attract. Just got a UAG case for my new note 3 and it sits perfectly inbetween Grip and Lint spectrum!
Just ordered mine from amazon. How easy / not easy is it to quickly take off and put back on? Like if I wanted to swap batteries in my phone, would it be this whole ordeal? Thanks

It's very easy. One of the best cases if you need to do that. When it's on it's on good, but no fear of breaking something if you have to take it off.
Sent from a Galaxy Note 3 far, far away....
My older brother had the Shine version of the Incipio DualPro for his Galaxy Note II and it was pretty bulky with no easy way to take it off. I have the Spigen Slim Armor for my Galaxy Note 3 and considered it superior until I noticed a crack in the armor yesterday. It has never been dropped so I am pretty sure that it was caused by taking the phone in and out daily. I do this carefully one side at a time and push through from behind (camera opening) but it happened anyway. I would hope that the Note 3 version of the DualPro is easier.
Also, it was rounded so it probably wouldn't fit a flat metallic plate insert like the nGroove Snap uses. He also tried it with a Qi wireless receiver I sent him and it doesn't work through the case. I hope the Note 3 version is thinner.

Picked up the grey and blue ones since they were $4.99 each with prime shipping.
Pretty good quality. The texture is really nice and soft yet still durable. Fitment was perfect. Very light. Replacing my slim spigen case with these.

I have a green one and my only complaint is that it does accentuates pocket fluff getting stuck on the edge of the screen but overall that's not a big deal and I gotta say that on the whole I love it.
I really like that the phone lays flat with this and yet it doesn't make the phone feel bulky.
Case looks nice. Unfortunately I hate cases that don't fully cover the top or bottom
Just to clarify for potential buyers, the cases pictured are the sand cases. The regular premium case has no texture. I got 1 sand and one premium yesterday. I was hoping that the premium had a soft touch coating but it does not. I really like the sand case.
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
it looks like the inside of the sand version is also sanded...will that scratch up the plastic/chrome band and back cover? thanks

From the pics, it looks more sky blue than blue. Is that correct?
I picked up one of the sand black ones on a whim - love it. Great texture, good grip without being sticky (still slides in and out of pockets easily, which the stickier rubber ones do not).
No, there is no texture on the inside to scratch the phone, only outside. May still try a spigen, but super happy with this - would have been happy at $15-20, at $5 it's a no-brainer.
why do all slim fit covers not protect the top and bottom? i love that case, but have to have four sided protection.

AHHA Cinco ToneMix Softcase simple review (IMAGES ADDED)

Hye guys. I bought a new case for my note 3 today, and im quite sure this brand is not as famous as others, but it really looks nice and simple for me.
First of all, the price is quite affordable, bought it for $18 at local store in my country. (approximately $14usd) Design-wise, it resembles Spigen Neo Hybrid but much slimmer, and the back has textured-leather like design, and it really feels like leather, which imo fells comfortable and non slippery, plus has the stitching design that looks similar with the original back cover of Note 3. The plastic rims that cover the whole bezel also feels quite good. All ports are easily accessible. Protection wise, i think it doesnt offer much protection, so tempered glass is a must. below is the link to the actual product, sorry that i cant post the pics. and im not sure about the availability in other countries.

That i believe is jackplug (that cover your jack from dust), not really sure what people named it though, lol.
That's a pretty nice looking case! What exactly is the back piece made of? Is it plastic made to look like leather, or is it some kind of TPU material? Also how is the grip on the sides?
I won't be switching from my Defender any time soon, but I think my wife might like the pink one shown on the website if her wallet case ever gives out.

the back piece is actually made of soft TPU, so it feels much more leather-like compared to the original back cover. Those who likes to use their phone naked will appreciate this case as it feels literally the same,if not much better. and the rims at the side is not slippery plastic, provide nice grip compared to other hybrid cases that i had used.
More pictures (close-up) and they also give screen protector inside the packaging
