The common method of solving drivers issues involves rebooting Windows, testing if it works. Rebooting the device, testing if it works. Rebooting both, testing if they work.
Uninstall the drivers, reboot, reinstall the drivers, test. Reboot, test .. I think you get the general pattern. If there aren't separate drivers then probably replace the phrase drivers in my directions with HTC sync.
Also, there are some drivers which come with the android-sdk you should attempt to test with. I think they might work also with fastboot mode.
Personally, I'm in ubuntu and have no driver issues with the device. Plug in and it works! Hopefully that helps!
im trying to run qpst configure on my 3d and it wont find the port#. I installed the htc diag drivers correctly on windows 7 and it shows a htc modem when i open device manager. But no com ports. can someone please help.

Which windows 7 32 or 64 bit?
64 bit windows never worked for me or anybody.
Try different PC with 32bit windows and install diag drivers for 32bit/x86.
Dont forget to press thanks if i helped you in any way.

Start>Control Panel> Devices>Device Manager>Modems>HTC Interface>Properties>Modem Tells you the COM port. Make sure the phone is plugged in and in DIAG mode ( ##3424#)

What do you mean?
I'm having issues getting the DIAG drivers to work...not exactly a noob but not very computer saavy either.. ive installed QPST and the drivers but it still a no go WIN 7 64b.. how did anyone achieve this? I've tried over and over again but still no success. I've read all over but no one really gives any detailed info. any help is appreciated
With the evo3d, Ive always had to 'select new port' or 'open new port'...something like that. I cant check right now because Im restoring a nand. When I can, Ill post back...good luck
The driver install fails on the HTC MTP driver install...I cannot get by this. I am running Windows 7 64 bit...anyone else having this issue?
OMG I fought with that for HOURS. I never did get them to work. I installed htc sync, htc sync manager, and I installed the all in one kit drivers.. Nothing. Windows 7 64 bit too.
I assume you are trying to unlock the bootloader and root?
Do both things manually using fast boot commands and recovery.
Tl;dr you can root without MTP drivers

exactly like me, I have been fighting with this for two days now. Reinstalling htc sync, htc sync manager, cleaning out existing drivers reinstalling again. Removing everything that could be associated with htc at all, reinstalling android sdk etc etc.
Nothing makes my phone recogniced by ´adb devices´not even htc sync software recognice it.
Every time I plug it in, the device is recogniced and installed and it says under Portable Devices in the device manager ´HTC One X+´
Do you get the Choose type of connection screen on your phone when connecting it? Because I dont, is just says connected in debug mode, even if debug development tools is turned of and debug of. But it still doesnt show up in adb.

No, not on this phone.. I think it has to do with the MTP crap. You can read an informative post by Lloir in the dev section to find out more.

hmm.
went back to the store and made them try connecting the phone to one of their laptops, if course everything worked perfectly there
So now im back trying to figure out what to do. Going to find the post you mention and see if I get any hints there.
Did you notice my post above where you I claimed you can root and unlock without the drivers?
What do you need to do that you need them?
Hi,
I am reading this, it is exactly what I recognize with my new One X+ too.
BUT I am not wanting to root or something. I'd like the Navigon software to recognize my device and download the maps like it did on my Desire HD.
Any more hints to how I can get this running ?
regards,
Ruud
I have a brand new bone stock dinc 4g lte.
I have activated sim and all features of phone work except when trying to connect via DIAG (##3424#).
Phone enters diag mode just fine.
USB debugging is enabled; Charge only is the PC connection.
My laptop is windows xp 32-bit.
I have installed the HTC Drivers: HTCDriver3.0.0.007
However, whenever I plug the phone in it recognizes new hardware: "Android Phone" and "HTC DIAG"
But after clicking "Install software automatically" it searches and then fails (even though I know the drivers are there).
When not in diag mode I can see my memory card and transfer files back and forth so I know part of the drivers are working.
What am I doing wrong?
*I found my own solution so I thought I'd post it just in case anyone else had my same problem.
1) I followed all the steps in the procedures listed in this thread, but needed to "disconnect my phone" before clicking "have disk".
This allowed me to successfully install drivers and connect to QPST. However.........
2) When I was connected QPST showed a question mark in front of my ESN. So I read and found that for this phone we need v2.7 build 3.74.
This did the trick!
3) I can verify that the "open sesame door" procedure works on this phone! Now can anyone confirm that it works for the Verizon HTC One also?
Read here
Thanks for replying so quickly! I'm glad to see you still use this phone.
I actually looked at that very thread before I started this one. QPST does not see the phone, so there aren't any phones listed when I try to add the port. So I can't click the "read phone" step in your directions because it's grayed out..
I've tried a different cable and different xp computer, and still can't load drivers!
Any other suggestions?
You should notice the diag drivers are not the same as the 3.0.0.007 drivers. Check that post I linked again.

Are you talking about this link?
>When you have QPST installed Proceed to get your HTC Diagnostic Drivers, you can get them HERE
If so, that is what I've tried and hasn't worked.
Are there other driver download links in that thread I am missing?
I also tried all of the drivers you had stickied, but none worked.
This is very frustrating. Any other ideas?

Strange, I remembered the drivers posted to that thread being correct. In any case, a simple google search for "htc diag drivers" brings this up as the first result: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=697487
If there is a thread with diag drivers then I've looked at it. So yes I looked at that post already. But maybe there is another way to connect to qpst without diag drivers? Or is it possble that I don't have something enabled correctly on this brand new phone?
Is there another way to create a virtual com port besides using dm router?
instead of automatic install have you tried doing it manually.
choose drivers, navigate to file, update driver?

Yes; I've followed this exact same process many times.
I just did it again (re-downloaded the files from the link you posted).
HIs instructions show windows 7 and I have xp, but it shouldn't matter.
When I choose his x86 drivers it always gives me this error:
HTC DIAG
When it finds new hardware "HTC DIAG" pops up in all caps.
Are drivers case sensitive?
Because all of the drivers I am manually choosing are lower case.
Could it be that is why they don't "contain information about my hardware?"
BTW, I have installed HTC diag drivers on this laptop (and my desktop) for my incredible 2 and have no problems connecting. So I'm struggling to understand why this one is so difficult!
Mine was for the evo LTE not the incredible LTE
Going home in a few, I'll see if I can get it to work and I'll report back.

Thanks so much for your help!
Do you have a windows XP you can test it on?
I've tried 2 XP machines (both with SP3) and 2 different cables, but no luck.
I'm so glad people actually try to help on this forum (unlike some other forums).
It's been a few days; anyone able to help this phone work with windows xp? My incredible 2 was a breeze compared to this one.
Thanks to anyone who might be able to help!
I recently got a new computer with windows 7 64 bit on it and for the life of me I cannot get a good working driver for my Evo 3d. I've tried HTC_drivers_Win7_x64.zip , unzipped it and chose the location I unzipped it to when updating the driver but it does not find a compatible driver in it. I'm pretty much at my wits end with this and am wondering if anyone can help in my quest to get this thing recognized so I can use ADB. I can see the device via USB as a media device and I can browse the SD card without issue.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the advice. Downloaded and installed but still can't see the phone using 'adb devices' . I looked in device manager and I do see the phone listed under Portable Devices as a Evo V 4G (it is a Virgin Mobile Evo). Not sure how to proceed now.

well, i've a Evo 3D GSM version, so i don't know if it will work the same for you, i used these drivers (http://www.koushikdutta.com/post/universal-adb-driver) right now on a w8.1 64bit pc and adb worked immediately! i suggest you to connect your phone, uninstall any phone driver from device manager, disconnect your phone, install those drivers, and then connect again your phone

Thanks for the information. I gave it a try and now I can see the phone under 'Other devices' but it can't find a driver. I did what you suggested but still can't get it to work. I'm still scratching my head why the drivers everyone else is using is not even showing up as a valid driver when I browse to the directory I've extracted them to.
Any other ideas?

another option that should work on w7 (dunno on 64bit) is to install latest htc sync, somehow it should work!
Which brings me back full circle, haha.. I've tried doing that several times too with no luck. Perhaps it's the 64 bit thing as I had no trouble at all when I set the phone up on my home pc and old work pc which are/were 32 bit.
That's strange, my other pc has w7 and I never had such a problem! Try to search older htc sync, and update Android adt! When I get home I'll browse my hdd, I should have downloaded a driver from xda
That would be most helpful. Perhaps you can check the version installed via device manager also? Thanks!
