Is it true ICS has some compatibility issues with some games? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

I'm a bit tired of GB on my Xperia Neo V. I want to flash the official ICS but I'm a bit hesitant (serious gamer here) as I read from somewhere that some popular games are not compatible with ICS. Is this true?
By popular I mean the modern combat series, NOVA series, 9mm, GTA, backstab et al.

"If thou art a hardcore gamer, then thou shall stay on GB"
ICS is not for hardcore gamin..but im playin NFS MW(with a lil occasional lag) and FIFA12(smoothly)..havent tried other games yet..
this might give you an idea http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737862 check the supported games list..most other roms give more or less the same gamin performance..

if you are serious gamer, then you should consider a phone of dual core powered with 1GB ram & at least 4" Screen size.

yes it is true only nova2/3 and MC3-4 are compatible with ics

Its depends which games u r playing
Bro
If u play heavy games stay on gb

I can play Asphalt 7 Heat smooth enough, Wild Blood a bit lag sometimes and also smooth sometimes, GTA Vice City smooth enough, Galaxy on fire smooth, MASS EFFECT INFILTRATOR*™ smooth enough.. On my Neo running stock ICS..

for froyo probably....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049894
and probably the 1.54GHz kernel on GB
but i think games are better on froyo at this point until we get an official release for our phone, i might be wwrong though, i only really play angry birds and doodle jump
Froyo is good for gaming because it has great battery life, ginger is good cuz you can set your soft keys and use them in emulators.

Cm7 is by far the best for gaming... if you want the bwst gaming experience, youll wanna overclock.. if you want the best gaming experience period, get CM7 with kernel du jour and oc to 1.55 or 1.6 if your phone cab take it... you will chew up those games....
I can play legend of zelda ooc at full framerate as well as 6 other n64 games perfectly
Sent from a cell tower to the XDA server to you.
I recommend super dragonMODz OC up to 1.5ghz if your phone supports it

[Q] dropping frames on hd games

Anyone having issues with dropping frames while playing Nova 2 or Modern combat 3? Games seem choppy. I am running pershoots kernal overclocked at 1.4GHZ with set CPU. I was hoping someone had an answer as to why the galaxy is doing this and maybe a fix. My evo running cm 7.1 runs the games smoother. Thanks in advance!!!
The Galaxy doesnt "do" this. Only yours.
Those games runs perfectly on mine, (stock RUXKK2)
I dont know what kind of magical fix your hoping for, but let's get back to earth.
Those are the only possible fixes;
1) Un-overclock your CPU
2) Try another ROM
Most likely your overclocking isnt stable enough, and thermal throttling interferes when you launch ressources-heavy games.
it's running the stock 3.2 rom. I tired the stock kernal and it's even worse then pershoots at 1. 4GHZ. I'm going to try tasks 13.1 slim rom tonight and see if it helps at all.

I've got a P7500 running Overcome 2.2.0, and I also find the framerate is poor in Modern Combat 3
For example, MC3 runs a lot smoother in my SGS2, but I think it's obvious because it has a faster processor and a smaller screen.
Can anyone else post their impressions, please?
Cheers
Wish i could try those, the only Gameloft games that show up as compatible with the verizon galaxy 10.1 is uno and sudoku LOL.
same here, even Fruit Ninja THD lags
im on overcome 2.2.0 with pershoot's kernal
and using setCPU to overclock to 1.4GHz at performance
i also tried without overclock and it lags even more
Either there is some particular issue with Overcome or you are asking too much!
While not being really enjoyable/playable (as any tablet shooter) , I'd say it runs fairly well here on stock rom; at least 20-30fps; no apparent lag that would plague the experience.
Try a stock rom and enlight us;

Yes, of couse it runs @ 20-30 fps, but IMO that's laggy.
I'm not used to play on tablets, so maybe I'm asking for too much.
Thx anyway
The only time my games lag (Modern Combat 3, Nova 2, N64oid) is when I use my ps3 controller. Other than that all my games run smoothly

Worth Flashing I9100G from GB to ICS ?

I bought I9100G few weeks back and its working great. Upgraded to Gingerbread 2.3.6 and now i have No lagsand all great games like NOVA 3, shadowgun and other heavy games are working flawlessly. Plus i am getting great backup times as well.
But the two questions that are in my head nowadays is that
1) Is it worth flashing (Indian) ICS 4.0.3 on my S2G ? will it give me benefits like better battery backup, better 3D game performances and others? can someone provide with the changelog or the features that anyone noticed when they upgraded to 4.0.3?
2) Will flashing void my warranty?
Waiting for replies .. Thanks

If you are happy with gb then stay with it. Many users including me are facing 3d performance problems with ics and many other problems.
Even cm9 is having problems with cam and 3d performance.
So u should stay with gb. Ics is nothing. You can easily having ics UI by using launchers on Google play .
Again, gb is good enough for u to stick with it.
PS : flashing it won't void your warranty.

First things first. This is a developer forum. If you have inquiries please post in the Q&A Forum.
And for sticking to GB or ICS. its' all user preference. You can try ICS and if you don't like you can go back to GB

In gb : I have no problem at all.
Games like mc3, nova 3, asphalt work well. HD video played very smooth.
In stock ics : bad 3d performance, heating up easily, drop signal, some lag but acceptable when play HD video.
In cm 9 : normal 3d performance. Sometime heats up. Drop signal sometimes. A lots problem with camera like focus .... HD video is very laggy, can't watch it.
But in cm9, UI is smoother and you have horse power kernel to play with. U can oc CPU and gpu ....
Your decision to flash it or not.

Nope. Not much point. If there are free ones you'd like testing, let us know.
But I know it struggles with dead trigger if you change the file to allow tegra graphics... so yeah I know it will struggle with the latest and greatest. There was an app that does a graphics test showing an intro of a game. My s3 got 11 fps compared to 60 on a friends nexus 4. If you want gaming, its nexus 4.

S3 is soon to be outdated, games are now being released for phones as strong as the S4.
Maybe get the latest tablet if your looking for an android gaming experience.

[Q] S2 game lag

Has anyone experienced lag while playing any high end games? be honest.....

Yes it depends on what rom and which kernel you are using. As now games are made for latest Processor as S2 is 2yrs old phone so it lags in it.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you are running 4.2.2 or higher on S2, then there can be mistakes because of the driver.. Choose 4.1.2 and you have no pb.
