actually i get bored from all ICS and its ROMs so i decided 2 get bk on ginger bread ... i saw that it can be rooted easily but when trying 2 install CMW u cant do it if ur on ginger bread so u need to b on ICS then rooted then install CMW and after all that downgrade again to ginger bread .. if i downgrade to ginger bread my fone will return again to stock GB 2.3.4 ... actually i dont understand anything .. i cant put every thing 2gether 2 make sense
To install cwm in gb, you will need cwm for gb. In alternative get a gb kernel with cwm inside.

Try unlock yur BL n flash custom
Kernel man (ne etc.. they have cwm
Built in
dont thin anymore, just unlock BL...follow instructioms carefully and them instal whatever u want...
i just want to b on GB 2.3.4 the ICS and JB and modified ROMs always have bugs and laggy .. the GB is perfect smooth and light and hih response even through heavy games and apps .. i find an easy way to root on GB but i still cant install CMW
Ultimate hd 2.0.2 and jelly sandwich 8.5 ICS roms don't have bugs and they are smooth and fast.
Anyway 0.62 GB is not rootable, you need previous version. Then for the cwm search for recoverX on xda neo's forum. It is a software which installa cwm and it should let you choose between GB cwm or CS cwm.

hi hello frnz plz help me out...i am not much used to flashig....i managed to install CM6.1.3 on my xperia...i want to try TripNMiUI froyo,...my bb is 54.....i jus want to knw how..to run trips rom without rmoving wofbrks rom.....i mean not backing up..bt can i get an option like boot frm any of the two
Nope dual boot is not possible for now, the only way is backing up that you yourself mentioned
Just backup both roms with xrecovery and you can easily switch between roms by restoring in less than 5 min.
That WOULD be an awesome feature to have. But yes unfortunately, as mentioned, your going to have to back up and restore. Which shouldn't be too complicated.
DooMLorD is working on something of this sort of stuff.
basically dual boot manager.
Definetly cant wait for this feature
k thnk u guys fo ya reply.....so lets wait n c...if some devs come up with tat awesome feature......n tat will make our xperia..a BOMB....xperia roXXX...:-D

yes.......
To avoid flashing each time you should just install trips rom and then use the bbpatch to fix it... or wait a few days as trips rom is almost on unified baseband... which means it can be installed on any.... hope this helps

t's been awhile since my last upgrade, my X10a is still on 2.1-update1 firmware, baseband 2.1.54, kernel version 2.6.29 with build number 2.1.A.0.435
How to flash to latest 2.3 ?
You can upgrade to gingerbread with with pc companion..
but stock 2.3 from SE is very laggy & slow so install a custom gingerbread rom like Wolfs TW Gingerbread v7
Wolfs TW Gingerbread v7 is a very god rom. it has no bugs, no fcs its very smooth
I do want a custom rom, but can I just flash thru recovery? Given that I'm already rooted.
Yes, flash thru xRecovery

No, you need the baseband 71 as well and that needs flashtool....
Read the OP to any custom rom you want to flash.
Or, use pccompanion to upgrade to stock 2.3 then whilst you are there you can use flashtool to
a) root
b) ask root permissions
c) Install xrecovery (0.3 GB ready)
d) Unlock bootloader (Optional step)
then flash the rom of your choice...

I didn't have any lag on the stock 2.3.3 when I used it for a few weeks, about half unrooted, then rooted, and no lag either way. If you have 2.3.3 and lag check your running programs. Our phones are computers now so just like with a pc if you have too much in the background everything gets slow. When I was on stock 2.3.3 my phone was new so I was installing ALL sorts of things finding out what I liked but I always checked settings and permissions of things I was trying out. Bottom line you shouldn't have lag on 2.3.3.
Hey there,
currently I have Android 2.3.3 OEM on my xperia x10i.
So do I just need to root my phone and change the android version in the .txt file, or do I have to flash an custom rom to play these games?
And would the games work if I flash Wolfs TW Gingerbread Rom?
Im not being sure because Wolfs Gingerbread also has 2.3.3 Android version.
What would you recommend?
So long,

A big big big maybe on Cyanogenmod 9. the gpu is simply too weak for anything

Yeah, I recommend FeraLab ROM, it's much faster than Wolfs GB also for gaming, & yes you'll need to edit "build.prop" (located in /system/[here]) & change the line "ro.product.model=X10/anything else" to "ro.product.model=Desire HD" Then reboot, & you're done.
Good luck
Alright thanks, one question left.
Do I have now to update to the Stock Rom now, or is my phone now ready 2 flash FeraLabs Rom?

If you aren't on 2.3 stock rom (from sony) now, then yes..
Oh and just want to say that it's recommended (but, not needed) to unlock bootloader before flashing FeraLab
Your phone is ready if
- You're rooted
- xRecovery installed
.. Take a look at the original thread

Hey guys...i have an Xperia Mini Pro SK17i that from the day that it received Android ICS 4.0.4 its become nearly unusable cause its being really annoyingly slow. It takes at least 10 seconds for an App to launch and web pages take a long time to load, it takes ages to boot and even scrolling between homescreens is a pain in the ass.
With what i read so far, since i cant upgrade to Jelly bean cause Sony hasnt given that update to that phone, i figured out my only solution to the problem is to either go back to Gingerbread or root and flash a Jelly bean rom that performs well in my phone. Problem is as i kept reading..and saw with how many ways its possible to root and flash roms, kernels, fastboot and all those words that i have no idea what the mean..i got even more confused on which way is the most safe so i wont brick my phone and destroy it and which is the most simple way to do it.
Sorry for being a clueless android user, i had an iPhone for so many years and i recently got an Android so i need some time to learn how to be able to mod and fix it.
So the question is...how do i root this specific device and flash a custom rom? The more details the better....
Currently it has stock android ICS 4.0.4...
Thanks in advance.
If you don't want to root it, its fine
You can still downgrade to gb
Download flashtool (google)
Download your device's gb FTF rom file.
Flash it via flashtool
Now these steps are elaborated in general section stickies tool-guides-etc etc thread by someguy in hell.
If you want to root it followw mihanns rooting guide in general stickies and also his guide on installing custom rom
Regards
N
Root with the post in general, install Xparts and install recovery with xparts. Then if you will install a GB rom, flash before the ftf file of GB stock, the same with ics, if you will install a ICS rom, flash before the ftf file of ICS stock.Using flashtool
If you have Unlocked bootloader, you have to flash a kernel that you want and then the rom.

Whats your opinion guys? Should i go Jellybean, back to GB or stay to ICS?

Definitely Jellybean.
Rooting is not enough to install JellyBean You will also have to unlock bootloader
And ICS - I think You have updated it without wiping data. The difference between GB and ICS is huge, so the official updating method through PC Companion will end like this - very poor performance. IMO clean install for ICS is needed. Of course it will work slower than with GB, but it wasn't a big difference (IMO).
Now I'm using JB and it's still not bugless. But it can be used for daily use for sure Now, when nAa and other devs are working on 3.0.8 kernel - it will bring a second life to 2011 Xperia line phones
My opinion is to root your device and after root u have to install titanium backup app cause once u will open it after root it will fix something in permissions I think.. Install CWM through X-Parts app "you can get it from play store".. Boot into recovery.. Wipe data, dalvic cache and reset settings "Make sure u backup what u want before doing this through titanium backup or other backup app".. Then install Root Uninstaller to uninstall bloatware apps and stick with stock ICS or a custom ICS ROM if u r looking for bugless ROM as JB ROMs will not be lighter than ICS on our xperia mini pro and they r not bugless.. So dun go through any of them right now, maybe later after nAa finish this 3.0.8 kernel.. If u need any further support just PM me or feed me back here.. Few things after the above and ur device will be very efficient )
Good Luck

Hi every1, I have an xu and it's been a while since i flashed it to 2.3.7 (Build .184) and now it's working kinda slow... also I wanna go back to ics for many reasons.. I was pretty sure that now i could just update my phone to ics using pcc but both, PCC and US tell me that I already have the latest android version for my device...
So my question is- how can I flash back to ics? which ics build is the best in ur opinion(most importantly smooth!!)? and how can I root my phone with that version? (cuz i know that last time i tried rooting .54 with Binary's root method it didn't work for me)
Can any1 please help me answer these questions? and add good guidelines, I'm a nub when it comes to this
Thanks in advance!!

The only Sony ICS I've used was .54, and to root it the hard way (that is, without BL unlock) you must replace the kernel with the one from .10
I'm also a very satisfied GB user, but trying AOSP 4.1.2 now

But .54 was very slow... e.g. camera takes 3-4 sec to capture, plus had many bugs and didnt work smoothly...
some1 suggested that i install .84 but idk if it's better than gb and if it's rootable..

2- Yes, you still use the .10 kernel + flashtool root + reinstall stock kernel
1- You inspired me to try a home slimmed .100, but my opinion says it'll be worse than GB .188
should use pre rooted kernel, as the kernel Sliding ICS.
already root and cwm :good:
