Phone gets super on wireless charger! - HTC Droid DNA

So I left my phone on the energizer qi wireless charger last night and when I woke up and grabbed my phone it was super hot and I couldn't turn it on for about 5 minuets. Does this happen to anyone else? Its the first time it happened to me.. For the record I'm on cubed kernel and the mikmik ROM with diztronic case.

Well im using the LG charger and it never gets too hot. Just warm like its been sitting in the sun for a bit. Also iv never had it turn off or not be able to turn on before.
Edit - im stock rooted with a diztronic case

I have Nokia charger when phone charging it little bit hot when reach 100% phone stop charging my phone stay warm I think your phone not stop charging when reach 100% that why your phone hot

I'm thinking that's what happened its just weird because it was extremely hot and it never has done it before.. I'm only gonna use it for short periods of time now.

Same thing keeps happening to me. In the middle of the night I woke up to hear my phone beeping. I think it was so hot it was beeping. I took it off the wireless charger and it was only at 15%. I think this has something to do with Cubed kernel not playing nicely with the wireless charger. I have no facts to support this but that's what I think. My phone was at 118 degrees and beeping. Obviously I shouldn't use my wireless charger when I sleep anymore..

My phone was super out of the box
Please don't touch my "Thanks" button, it doesn't like you...

Check to see if it's going into deep sleep at all

View not charging

I made the mistake of letting the battery drain completely while in standby in my View so I put it on the charger last night and it doesn't seem to be charging. Its been at least 8 hours plugged in with the factory charger and not even so much as the charger light has turned on. I can try my phone charger but i think that will just take longer. How long should I wait before I start to really worry?

I had my View go completely out. I plugged it in and turned it on, and it charged up. Now I do a hard power off (I use the "Quick Boot" market app, but one could also simply hold the power button down for 20 seconds). If the device is simply powered off with the switch, it still consumes power, at least in my case.
Yea I know about that. My view was in standby with me just tapping the power. I'm going to try putting it in the freezer when I get home and see if that helps it to charges again.

Also, try pushing the power button in while it is plugged in. Mine did not show charging either until I tried to power it on.
BTW, a battery produces it's highest power when warm, not cold. It stores better in the cold...
Oh I tried powering it on while plugged in. Didn't make a difference.

well the freezer didn't seem to make any difference. At least not other than making it cold. Only left it in there for 20 minutes, maybe it has to go longer. Just tried a repair shop and they want 50 to open it open and then 75 more IF they can fix it.

What ROM are you using? The View and Flyer charger (inside the unit) is software controlled. If you don't have a good recovery load, it won't charge when it's powered down. You may have to open it up and disconnect the battery then connect the battery directly to a charger. There is a thread on how to do this.
Interesting. I will have to look up the thread on doing that.
Rom is Desensedview 1.5.

Charging overnight

Hey, so is it a good idea to charge overnight? I've heard that the charger may overheat and melt the usb port or something like that. So do you guys charge the phone overnight or not?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Its a bad idea.
usually ppl do keep their mobile phones on charge at the night and unplug it off at morning.
recently even i've asked the same question to the salesman of the samsung company he suggestes me not to do that cause it may harm your battery.

Hey, how you doing bud?
You rooted yet? Lol.......
I don't think the phone will overheat if your not using it at the time but it can shorten battery life a little leaving it on charge for longer than necessary, mine doesn't seem too bad with this setup I'm on now my temp never goes over 35° but before this setup i was getting temps of up to 55° when charging and using the phone at the same time. Don't think thats what caused my problems i told you about with chargers burning out though as the last one happened just as i plugged it into a cold phone.
I've always charged every phone I've ever had at night and haven't ever seen battery life go down on any phone i've owned. Not saying i recommend it but its never caused me any harm.

I have charged my phone for 8 hours over night EVERY night since I bought it (beginning of March), and the battery life is excellent.
Last time I looked at battery stats (yesterday) I had 1d 16hrs time on battery and 3hrs 53mins of screen on time, with normal usage.
My normal use is: about 1 hour music, 1.5hours internet browsing, texts, calls, flashing zips etc
So in short, with my experience overnight charging doesn't harm the battery at all

Not yet, will hopefully get to it in the next weeks. Real busy atm. And unlike on wildfire I don't feel an immediate need to do it

you can charge your phone all night, on condition that you must ensure your phone chager is original, if so, you can do it, as the original chager can adjust the voltage of the phone battery. if not, it is very dangerous to your phone.

Charging port issue, or battery?

So, I was on my phone non-stop last night and ran the battery down to 2%. I put it on my car mount charger (Sprint I-bolt), where I found it not to charge. Got home and no charge on all my chargers. Frustrated, I assumed my charge port broke. I went back out to my car and tried my best to get a good connection, and what do yah know, a blue light and orange light on my phone. So, I let it charge overnight in my car and brought it inside in the morning. I tried it on my charger, and it charges fine. So, I called my buddy whom is a Sprint tech., and he said sometimes the battery gets so low, they have to pull the battery and put it on a machine to boost the battery.
So, did I let my batt get too low, or do I have a bad charging port?

I've let my battery die down multiple times and I haven't had a problem charging yet. Just letting you know.

Yeah, I could have sworn that I've done this before and had no issues getting it to charge. I don't know what to say, it's working flawless right now.

Phone constantly discharging..

After I installed beans14 my phone was charging extremely slow, and by slow I mean I left it on the charger when I went to bed and woke up five hours later I had only gained about 50% charge. That was about a week ago and my phone hasn't started charging normally again. And now it's to the point of discharging even while it's on the charger. When I check gsam it shows the OS as one of the biggest draws on the battery. Also the gallery is usually 5% of the draw as well even though I never use it since I have quick pic. Here is a screen shot of what gsam shows Atm. And I am now on the t-mobile tweaked Verizon rom

fast charging? nope....

Why do I read about people claiming this phone charges fast? It takes forever.... My phone went completely dead last night has been on the wall charger for over an hour and is at 35%..... Am I missing something? My previous phone the optimus l9 charged way faster and before that my lg motion fully charged in under an hour.... Whats the deal?
Why are you letting it go completely dead? That is super hard on Lion battery packs.
Also what ROM are you running?

Assuming you are running a custom rom/kernel, make sure 'fast charge' is enabled. It makes a difference.

Didn't mean to let it completely die just forgot to put it on charge. Its not just from being dead though, even if its down to 50% its takes a long time to get to 100..... Im running slimbean with halo, will try turning on fast charge.
edit... guess it doesn't matter phone charged to maybe 40% before I left for work and it died again at work. This time it wont seem to charge back up or try to turn on.. Tried 3 chargers.... Guess I'll leave it on one and see what happens.... =-(
Its never taken me more than a hour to charge this phone

My phone eventually powered back up. Last night the battery was down around 27% percent. I put it on charge and watched an hour and 1/2 long movie and had some dinner. Went back to phone to see it around 70%. I did enable fast charge this time.
