Noob question.
What system / background apps provide what functionality?
I know the functions of the apps that I have installed but what about the system apps.
The reason being I'm wondering what apps I can safely stop from starting up to free up some RAM.
Cheers
David

Hey guys,
I am soon going to enter the rooted world of android and flashing roms on my note. Is there still a reason to remove bloatware from the phone when running a custom rom? Will the bloatware apps still be running or will they merely just be taking up memory in the storage?

The answer largely depends on which rom you choose..
Most custom roms are relatively bloat free, unless you are wanting to use a rooted stock variant build ...
And with regard to running bloat, the answer is yes ...
Apps like Google maps, navigation apps etc. Will often run in the background as available services, even when closed.
But you can use titanium backup and other similar apps, to "freeze " these applications....g
Edit : I always remove my bloat .....even from stock builds ....by freezing a suspected app for testing....
Then if all is well and stable ....I dump it ....g
Takes up space
possibly running in the background
things you may never use anyway
can add as you want after the custom rom
They fixed the battery drain issue with Google maps...don't worry about any Google services.

Hi
I'm just curious as to what methods people use to clean up their S3s? For example any folders that contain junk?
Also any tips, recommended apps etc?
Thanks in advance.

Here's what I tend to do every now and then (about once a month or so):
Clear call and messaging log, reset voice call duration (I do this at the beginning of each billing cycle).
Delete text message threads
Clear the browser cache and history
Clear cache on downloaded apps (mainly Facebook and Facebook Messenger).
Move pictures/videos from internal memory to external SD card using "My Files"
That's all I feel is really necessary and even then it's more of a "spring cleaning" thing than anything else, just to keep things organized. I don't download and uninstall a whole lot of apps or anything either, everything is pretty much set up the way I want it with the apps that I need.
i just look through a file manager for pointless files and delete them
Leave it as it is. Won't change the performance of your phone.
Thanks guys. Not really looking for performance improvements. Mainly general housekeeping and space saving. Obviously not to much of a problem now but was concerned about long term build up.

If i erase my internal SD card on with my pc, will my Phone still work?
Well guys this is weird. While using chrome, music app stops working and closes automatically. It doesn't happen with any other browser. I'm on indisn firmware 4.1 1 right now, non rooted. Anyone has any suggestions or facing same issue?
One more question, is the high ram usage fixed in uk version lla or it's the same??
Sent from my GT-I9300 using. xda app-developers app
Its the ram usage...the phone automatically closes other apps for freeing ram so that apps that uses huge resources like chrome can work..since music player works in the background.the low memory killer feature force closes the apps...i have personally experienced this problem when using facebook flipboard etc..

Any possible solution bro?
One question though, what's the point of having a powerful phobe such as s3 if it can't even run 2-3 apps at a time?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Try clearing recently used programs list...since recently used programs will be cached for quickly launching next time the user needs it.it will take up a lot of ram...also try using advanced system care from play store...this app proved useful to me and many others..if it still doesn't work..try to uninstall least used apps..since some services will run in the background and eats up ram..and still not working means..keep the post alive and we can expect someone will come up with a solution
Hope this helps..

Bump!
Well i've successfully rooted mu device and i hope there can be more ways now to make it lagfree. So can anyone please suggest any ways now? I don't wanna install any custom kernel or recovery. Just wanna tweak the stock ROM for good performance and multi-tasking.
Is it possible to install m.junowallet.com on my android galaxy s2 running ICS with a third party app or something. FYI my phone is rooted

No, you cant run iOS apps on Android, and if you had taken a few seconds to search you would already have that answer from one of the other topics where this silly question has been asked.
Also, why would you want to install the iOS app when there is an official Android version???
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.junobe.android.junowallet
Sry for posting a similar topic but the link above is not exactly an app but a html5 webpage that provides more tasks to complete in the junowallet app that i already have.
Just that android users cannot acess that page.

That's nice. Go ask the developer to make an Android version (this thread is no less stupid than when it was started).
Its stupid for you not for athers
No, it's a stupid question. Period (as The Atheist intimated >9 mths ago). Do you have even the remotest understanding of how different Android & iOS are as operating systems/so far as frameworks go ?
Obviously not.
I am...you "smart" in windows you can run linux apps and opposite why cant be possible on android. Think it
Make it happen then.

Hi All,
I got my S3 yesterday. After installing the apps I've noticed that the available ram is very less around 83mb or so.. I tried 1tap boost but the recovered memory is used again..
Is there any way to sort this issue.. I haven't had a chance to update the OS yet and am on 4.1.1 but I assume that shouldn't be an issue..
Please advice

You have posted in the wrong section. Use questions forum.
Try using greenify app to hibernate apps and remove all un needed bloatware
