[Q] ED01 Radio - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had ED01 radio then i end up flashin some roms and other stuff now I just realize that my phone will constantly drop to 1x instead of being on 3G . So i was wondering if anyone have ED01 or a possible better radio that stays on 3G ????

The newest radio for the fascinate is EH03. If you go to section 7 of droidstyle's guide, he has links to the different modems and instructions on how to flash just the modem.

Yep,,, and also remember those are Verizon radios,,, some of the other CDMA carriers use and work better with ones designed for them but may and do work (as far as what I've seen) with these Verizon ones (just not as well)
EH03 is the newest but like mentioned will spend a lot of time switching to 1x
I've been using ED05 with decent results on jb ROMs
And I'm on Page Plus / Verizon

Sometimes you have to flash that modem twice for good measures and after booting follow up with *22899 to update roaming. Which ROM, kernel, and modem you on anyways?
I am STILL having modem issues, I used the packaged 2.1 that was liek 400 megs and had modem kernel and stock eclair all packaged up, and i have done the official ota upgrades to the newer eclair AND now to froyo and STILL having the modem issues...
someone PLEASE help.....
Have you tried flashing JUST the modem? Try the EC01 modem in the Development forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029436
ONLY flash the radio in Odin. Like vi3tboiii54 said, sometimes ya have to do it a second time if you don't see a change upon bootup. Godspeed.
have you updated your prl?
I have now just tried to flash the modem multiple times and I am still getting the same problem...i dont understand how this is possible, and as I have no warranty (bought it on clist) i am screwed.....
*228 is your friend...
I've had that problem since the first froyo modem (couldn't really ***** to vzw then and just used the DL09 modem) and I've *228'd my brains out. Got fed up took it in to the store bone ota stock with speed test installed. While rep was playing with the device it locked to 1x in a store with network extenders, lol. Got a new device on the way no questions (I know that's no help to you op). I just knew once the ota hit that this issue would be more prevalent on many devices. And that's indicated with all the new my signal sucks threads in the last week.
good day.
Looks like it might be a VZW issue. VZW iPad 2 3G's are having problems with 3G dropping.
Can't post link yet, but just Google "Verizon Wireless 3g issues" under News.
The workaround is "re-enabling the 3G radio then rebooting the entire iPad".
iPhone's caused issues on the AT&T network and now the iPhone and iPad are probably causing network issues on VZW.

If you are having 3G signal loss issues, please post your build date and modem version here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051543
Build date can be found by pulling battery and looking at number next to 500V (E.g. 10.08)

You've got a new device on the way??? Awesome. Finally. Hopefully that will be a .......wait for it........
good day.
I installed ComRom when it was released, did not go to ED01 modem. Was not having any 3g issues until this morning. Yesterday I was pulling 1.9mb download and 1mb upload. This morning, 3g keeps going out on me, and its pulling .1mb dl and .3mb upload. Seems real wierd, I never changed the modem at all. I hope itsa verizon problem.

Verizon is having issues. Not the ROM or Modem.
Just did a side-by-side test using my ChromeOS notebook on my Verizon connection. Phone on desk, notebook on lap, less than 20" between them.
Notebook gets 1.38Mbps down, .37Mbps up with a 219ms ping.
Phone gets 55kbps down, 10kbps up with a 948ms ping.
At least in this area, it's definitely not the network.
My fascinate gets stuck in 1x all the time also. My wife's doesn't. So I called Czech and my new one is supposed to be here today.....
I have the problem pop up on the occasion. Whenever i get stuck on 1x or no data, I just put the phone into airplane mode for 10 seconds and 3g returns after exiting airplane mode.

HSUPA on 2.3.4 and Speeds?

Is HSUPA enabled in the 2.3.4 ROM that I and others have flashed
I still am getting bad uploads
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052914
This was a solution for me back in the day, but I'm not sure if its safe flashing it over this 2.3.4 ROM
Does anyone know what the official story on HSUPA is now a days for AT&T Atrix, and more specifically running the 2.3.4 build
Thanks
and does it use HSPA? it always shows 3G ( i know it may use it, but just doesnt show the disctinction, which some cusotm roms show)
but even my download speeds are real low via speedtest
Yeah, I had the same question and I found out it was because the images for 4g/HSPA+ or whatever are in the HK build.
Actually, after flashing the HK 2.3.4 build, my speeds went from 2MBPS average to a whopping 5.3MBPS average.
So 2.3.4 does fix things? Speed comparision between 2
Anyway to flash 2.3.4 radio alone without the whole rrom, don't wanna lose everything again

[Q] T-Mobile Users - What Kernel/Modem/ROM are you using?

So what Kernel/Modem/ROM combo are you using and what kind of connection speeds are you getting?
I am trying to find out if we can get T-Mobile users faster HSPA speeds on our Notes similar to the Skyrocket users, at least the ones who are getting slow speeds. Please share.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/get-your-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-to-run-t-mobile-hspa/
Telus radio with saurom rc4 here. Speeds on mine have been as high as 11Mbps in Maryland.
I just unlocked a Note last night so I'm experimenting. I am curious to see what the consensus is here.
Thanks!
latest saurom rom rcvi with the kernel that came with it. Dags kernel i think
I am also using the telus radio. But my speeds dont even reach 1mbps.. and im in a good coverage area too.
timgt do you have any more info that i can replicate like you so i can hopefully get my speeds up?
Saurom with telus modem and saurom kernel fix

Sorry. I didn't do anything special besides flash the telus radio and changed the build.prop file. My speeds aren't perfect but here is a screenshot of some tests I ran at different times over the last 2 days or so.
I tried flashing holonote kernel but it freezes at Samsung boot screen. I had to use the holonote saurom fix to get it to work again. Afterwards, my download speeds seems to have finally gone pass 1Mbps.

I'm using The Unofficial with the new Blaze modem. I like it so far except the battery life is iffy. Not sure if it's related to either of them?
using saurom, and latest blaze modem
however, here's what im running in to
the latest blaze modem that was released yesterday has increased my speeds by alot
yesterday when i was on telus sgh t989 modem, i was getting about 386kbps at my house and only 2 bars of service. on top of that, at the time it seemed as though my 4g was having a bunch of micro disconnects. also my upload was around 2kbps
today i come home and try the latest blaze modem, and my download went up to 3.8kbps (decent improvement i would say), but my upload is around 10mbps... when looking at the other thread for the blaze release, there was word on some sort of update, so im hoping that will yield me better results

[Q] Best Tmobile radio for stock rom? and cant install busybox

Hey,
It seems like most of you guys prefer updating the rom and all that, but I just needed the root for 4g radios on tmobile and for tethering. I am currently using the KID blaze and I'm only getting 1-2mb dl and .03-.6 ul. I used to get much better when I used a tmobile gs2 here in nyc. Which radio would work best on stock?
Also, I cant install busybox through the play store installer, I used the odin and cwm method. Could that possibly be the reason?
Honestly that is probably about what you can expect on a Note flashed with a hacked tmo radio. Mine gets WAY slower speeds than my GSII did. But I'm ok with it, everything else about the phone makes up for it, plus when tmo drops the note in July, we will probably see a huge increase in performance due to being able to flash actual radios designed for the Note on tmo. For now, if you want there is a thread here about increasing tmo speeds by adding a strip of foil under the battery cover on the lower left hand of the phone. Surprisingly a lot of people are reporting great results.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Haha. I just tried the foil trick. I got one 4mb result out of about 15-20 tests but rest were worse or equal than regular results. I was also noticing service dropping out randomly and having to reboot to get service back. I can't wait for Tmobile note radios.

[Q] New to the note - help with T-Mobile

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the Note, but definitely not new to Android or XDA.
I've got the phone "unlocked" via the radio trick here: http://str8pt.blogspot.com/2013/06/unlock-simfree-method-for-galaxy-note.html
I've rooted it, and have tried a few different ROMs with different radios.
The Blaze radio (and others) I mention are from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679722
I am in Melbourne, FL in case location makes any difference.
Here's what I am seeing:
CyanogenMOD 10.1.3 - using Blaze ICS radio I am getting only EDGE speeds. Using "Official TMO ICS Radio" (I'm guessing it's the one from the TMO Note?) , I get NO connectivity.
Stock 4.1.2 - using Blaze ICS radio I am getting 4G, however the signal meter is totally empty as if there's just enough signal to register connectivity but not enough to register a single bar. Download speeds are abysmal in comparison to other TMO phones I've used here - I am seeing downloads at around 1.5MB - other phones are 6, 7, even 8 MB.
My question are as follows:
Using CyanogenMod, should I be using the i717 version? Or the TMO Note version? Is there anything I can do with ANY particular radio to get better than EDGE?
Using the Stock ROM (or a variant), is there are a way to get the signal cluster to function properly? Any way to get better download speeds?
I read that the TMO 4.0.4 stock ROM image can be installed via ODIN and apparently it works correctly (if I am reading correctly) - would the TMO 4.1.2 stock ROM image be installed via ODIN and work as well? (If I can even find a full download of it?)
Should I expect to have to re-flash the radio each time with each ROM? From what I've seen, if I don't, I lose any ability to get 4G until I flash it again. I'd be stuck on EDGE.
Thanks so much guys! I've searched and read till my eyes are crossing and not finding the answers I need. I hope that with the experience that can be found in this forum maybe I can get where I need to be!
Thanks again!

I recently obtained an I717 too, unlocked it, and got it functioning with my tmobile prepaid plan. I'm still on gingerbread rom and using KID radio with decent success. just 4G , using WCDMA band 1700 (*#2263#). I get consistent decent speeds but not LTE.
The hands down best modem to use is UCMB4 - Google it. But it can cause problems with some jelly bean ROMs.
If you want jb more than anything, play with modems. If you want speed AND stability, go jellybean sandwich or black star X with the aforementioned modem.
If you want WiFi calling download skeleton key.
Ucmb4 with any of those three and the proper APN will get you LTE as fast as it's offered in your area

Hi Anthony820,
I'm currently running your Skeleton Key ROM - not bad at all! But definitely want to try to get CyanogenMod or PACman JB running.
I'll give the UCMB4 radio a shot this evening !
When I had service with TMO (via Straight Talk) I had the best luck with UVLG3.

At the time I was running CM 10.1 nightlies.
Uvlg3, if I recall, will get you good down speed, but mediocre up. Otherwise, it's a solid choice and may be more cooperative with jb builds.

Looks like you're right - here's just 4 radios that I just tested:
UCMB4 - EDGE only
UVLG3 - 3G/DC(WTF??)/H+ 6.01Mbps up/1.07 Mbps down
UVLE1 - Phone freezes, locks on black screen, had to pull battery
ICSBLAZE - 3G/DC/H+ Network communication issues message when running speedtest.
By the way, what the heck is "DC" on the network indicator where 3G or H/H+ normally is? I've never seen that before!

I believe It stands for dual channel.
By the way, just checked and CM's WiFi tethering is working as well - nice!
Not sure what I did differently this time but this evening the signal indicator is showing real signal strength, equivalent to what I was seeing on another phone on CM.

Good to hear. I believe not seeing any signal strength is a known issue specifically with the Blaze modem.

If you're on a modem that'll work with LTE, yep. Otherwise HSPA or Edge.
Make sure, I forget and my Note no longer has service, that the top option is set under Network Type or whatever it is. Network Mode? I don't know, you'll figure it out. The thing that lets you pick between GSM, WCDMA etc..etc..

Ok, I got it figured out. I am on the FAST APN and set to WCDMA/LTE . I'm on 3G/H+ here in the house now - will see how it goes when I head out tomorrow.
Either way, I think it's time to make a backup - it's running marvelously and doing everything I would expect it to!
NOTE: Newest PAC ROM (4.3) running smoothly with UVLG3 modem on T-Mobile without issue
[EDIT]
Scratch that - it worked great until I did the first reboot - then it wouldn't boot up again, even with a battery pull.

I went ahead and flashed UCMB4 and was showing 4g lte after reboot. my phone info setting says WCDMA preferred (it shows no LTE option at all ) and the *#2263# menu setting says "automatic". on the fast.t-mobile.com apn
I use UCMD3 and get LTE almost everywhere. Hellybean is a pretty good ROM, try it out!
