I'm trying to root, recovery, all that good stuff to my Sprint GS2.
Model: SPH-D710
Carrier: Sprint
The Situation:
I was trying to root my SGS2 and downloaded what I now realize to be the wrong files lol I was using Odin 3.0.4 One Click, had the phone plugged and selected "Start" to see what the process was. To my knowledge I din't have any file selected to be flashed. It hit a hang in the process so I closed the program, unplugged the phone. I took the phone out of Download mode as Odin was no longer recognizing the phone, and now the phone won't boot into recovery, go into download mode and the Boot logo does not show upon boot. The LED turns blue when I try to boot it up.
Anybody have any help they ca give me?
Thank you, very much appreciated.
This is the I9100 forum not SPH-D710 (Epic 4G), They are 2 different devices. No wonder your screwed your device when trying to flash it.
This is what happens when you don't even bother to research your device model version properley then flash any old crap to it.

Because of your inability to research your device and check that your flashing the correct files to your device?
Don't blame XDA for your incompetence.

I am not blaming this site for my incompetence. I'm blaming my self for my incompetence. I'm blaming it for your attitude, as it seems to be common only on XDA. I go on other sites, I see posts exactly like this and the victim is treated with respect, none of the snappy superior tone that you have.
I had it right the first time, I was flashing Epic 4G files, just didn't see that forum here. Had an error in the procedure of flashing from Odin, if you didn't TL;DR the OP you would realize I didn't actually flash any files only started the Odin flashing procedure with my phone plugged, which seems to be my mistake.
Thank you for your help, I'll leave you so you can think about your attitude and hopefully change it for the better.
Edit: Mod please lock this tread.

I was trying to flash this: http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/odin-darkyrom-10-2-resurrection-gt-i9000.4272/
I was following the instructions word for word & after step 9 it went down hill.
In odia I did pull the battery out while it read "partitioning" as I was waiting 10mins & it appeared to not move, it didn't even seem to start.
After I pulled the battery & tired to power it back on it wouldn't work...
I tried to get into download mode, recovery & even tried a USB JIG as it was likely to force it into download mode & yet nothing, not even a vibrate.
The phone in my eyes is the best out there so I would really appreciate all the help anyone can give me.
Use odin to install the rom again.

Firstly try getting into Download mode, I hope it works, secondly, read properly before flashing anything to your device, the link you posted is for the I9000, the Samsung Galaxy S 2 is the I9100

Never click repartition or mess with pit files!
I Bricked my phone because I clicked repartition. I had to play dumb took it back for service and they repaired it.
I have had my phone back and flashed it many many times but never clicked repartition again and had no major problems since.
The boot section sits on the partition so when you click repartition it bricks the phone. Clicking EFS will clear your IMEI number so leave odin as default.
I guess the repartition must have its uses for some phones but all I have read on the s2 everyone who has clicked repartition has bricked there phone.
Like many people I was given the wrong instructions on another site.
I will have a look around and report back if I find any fixes for this.

I was using Samsgung Galaxy SIII Toolkit v1.0 to root my (Sprint) device ( didn't realize v2.0 was out ) and at step 9 when the device was supposed to reboot on its own it just turned off and did not reboot. When I try to boot it I get a quick flash of SAMSUNG and then it turns off. I am able to boot into Download mode. USB Debugging is not enabled.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.
Update:
I tried downloading a few different versions of the toolkit, and they all seem to check for USB DEBUGGING before starting the rooting process. I'm not sure which version I had downloaded initially (just that it was v1.0) where it didn't... But that part of the process had a NOTE saying to turn it on, restart the phone and plug it back in to continue...
I also tried booting into recovery mode and factory resetting - no dice.
You're in the section of the international phone, not the US-version.
Most probably something went wrong with replacing the kernel, flash your RAM through Odin again and it should boot fine.
Just use CF-root (or whichever kernel applies to the US-version) through Odin instead of using these tools. People always recommend them and I'd had to revive my fair share of devices which were softbricked (that's what your device is) through their usage.

This. Don't trust toolkits. Do yourself a favour and take time to learn how to use adb and on this phone, Odin, properly. It's unfortunate you had to learn why many people are against toolkits the hard way but if you follow the above advice and use Odin to flash a factory Rom for your phone all shall be well.

Mm.. I'm trying an Odin approach now. Initially I tried a Heimdall approach, but it kept failing. :\
Thanks for the response.
Odin and Heimdall both do the same stuff; they use the Samsung firmware update mode to push the device's firmware.
Download your ROM off samfirmware.com if you can't revive it through a simple kernel flash.
You might have to factory-reset your phone tough, hopefully not.

I am currently writing a stock ROM to my phona via Odin. Once I'm back to stock I'll start messing around with it again. I just like touching base after I screw things up, if that makes sense.
I only bought the phone a few days ago so there's not much going on to lose, and I did do a full backup, so I'm not concerned. I already did a reset anyway when I first broke it.
I appreciate your help, and do now see that I'm in the wrong forum. In the future I'll post in the correct forum. Sorry again. Very embarrassing.

It's more a problem for you than for us. If you were to flash a linked zip without really taking care you could hard-softbrick (only revivable through USB-Jig) or possibly hardbrick (only revivable through JTAG) your phone so it's best to stick in the correct section with the correct files =)
after using a windows phone for years, I finally switched to android and OMG. I love it. Except, it's like linux. Once you break it, it's really really hard to figure out what you broke. I've been googling for the better part of 5 hours now and I've read through literally hundreds of different sites and I still can't figure out how to fix my phone. I followed the instructions on how to root your phone at androidauthority.com/galaxy-s2-epic-4g-touch-root-zedomax-kernel-65389/
When I restarted, it booted to a yellow triangle with a bang in the middle. It will not proceed farther than that. I'm assuming that is because much like linux, the kernel isn't compatible with the OS. It's the zedomax kernel on a sprint galaxy S II SPH-D1710. So, my questions are, am I in the right forum for this and.... how do I make my phone work again? I have odin installed and can get to download mode. However, I can not figure out how to get to recovery mode. Any help is appreciated!
P.S. sorry but it won't let me post links.
I figured out how to get to recovery mode. It's the default one though. Doesn't do me much good I think.

Read as many sticky threads as possible and if there is anything you don't understand, then ask questions.

My phones having charging problems so I need to take it into the store and most likely ship it off to samsung, I already removed my root and then checked to make sure it's gone, But I still have a Rom on it called Blazer and I'm having a hard time trying to find a stock ics rom and to erase all data involving rooting or roms so my warranty won't be void. Some help would be greatly appreciated.
First of all, get root back and use an app called Triangle Away to reset flash counter.
Link to Triangle Away is here
Secondly, boot into recovery and do a factory reset/wipe data... also you should wipe cache and internal SD in case you have folder there that refer to root, such as clockwork mod.
Thirdly, you need a stock ics rom which you can get from here.
Choose the stock firmware of your country.
Instructions for flashing stock firmware is in the stock firmware thread.
and you're restored to stock.

My phones done for isn't it? God darnit. Now I'm going to have to pay 100 dollars to fix the darn thing.
A quick google for "Blazer ROM" shows it as a ROM for the Epic 4g Touch. If you followed the above advice, then you may have blown it, yes. (since this post is currently in the i9100 forums, and that advice is valid only for i9100 phones)
I'd suggest you go to the Epic 4g Touch forums to ask for advice there.

Lol yes, sorry kinda going crazy here. Thanks for responding, I appreciate that even. I was on Goodness i605 note 2. I must have screwed up by downloading something in those minsettings that was for a different carrier. It said it was a network error fix I believe. It then took me to recovery to flash the zip and thats when all hell broke loose. It just keeps booting over and over and after the samsung label it shows the twrp screen for a split second then it's just gone. It was obviously a huge mistake and I am an idiot for doing it. I have been trying to get things done through the pc and usb to the phone to fix it and that seems to be the other part of my problem is since I can't turn the usb debugging on on my phone i can't download anything through the usb, Right?...I'm a noob basically and obviously, lol but thanks for responding even if you have no advise.

Dude go into recovery with the rom still installed, and dirty flash the rom while only wiping cache and dalvik. So long as you didn't wipe system you should be fine doing that.

Odin can be buggy, a lot of the issues are with USB cables and whatnot. Try some of these
1. Try Odin a few times, if it doesn't work disable any and all antivirus, reboot PC and try again.
2. If still no success, try reinstalling all drivers and yet again try again.
3. If that fails, use a different USB port.
4. If that doesn't work try a different USB cable.
5. If all else fails just try a different PC.
Frankly your phone has reached rock bottom so any fails with Odin should not make the problems worse than they are now. Keep us posted and good luck.

Ill give all that a go for sure thank you very much. Is there any possible way through your computer connected to your phone through the usb that you can turn on the usb debugging on your phone from your computer? Long shot I'm sure but it seems like if I could get that turned on I would be working in the right direction
are you getting into download mode on the phone itself and seeing the yellow triangle? you can flash the stock samsung firmware through odin which also unroots and then start over with rooting and such.
I would do what wto said. I have had odin fail multiple times because my drivers were not loaded correctly. Keep plugging away at it, and it might surprise you. Good luck, and sorry.....

Thank you all for being so helpful, really I appreciate it. In the post it said shut it down then and go into recover but I tried and it just goes right back into the loop? any idea from there?
I don't want to give you bad advice at this point. Honestly, this is my first Samsung device. You can still get into downlpad mode correct? If so, you are not completely screwed (hopefully). I will look around tomorrow, and see what I can dig up. At this point you know you can flash files with odin, so dont get careless at this point. I know how frustrating, and anxious you must feel. What a great learning experience, huh? My advice is to do as much research as possible. Getting late, so until tomorrow.

Did you flash the PIT file when you flashed the return to stock files? Which return to stock files did you flash? If you haven't already done this try flashing just the PIT files in Odin and see if that will work for you, if not then flash the alternative recovery ROM and the PIT together in Odin and see if that works.

If you can still get into download your phone will still be functional. I have a few questions.
1. What version of android were you rooted on?
2. Were you ever successfully rooted at any point?
3. Can you get your phone to be recognized in ODIN?
You shouldn't have to need USB debugging if you can get into download mode, for all I know download mode uses the same USB debugging properties as it is not in the OS yet.
Keep us posted and please don't leave out details in-case someone else comes around with a similar issue. If you do get something working, try to put a step-by-step on how you did it for future reference.
Great Learning experience for sure, I thought I was getting good at figuring out what I could and couldnt download lol..yes I'm extremely bummed and even more frusterated. I appreciate all the help and direction. I am truely sorry to even have to ask for help guys believe me. Yes I was rooted, yes I get recognized by odin in download mode and as for the version I was last on I am not sure exactly what I was on...i never got the latest update from verizon because I was rooted before that. So I rooted just after that verizon update that was the security patch I believe?? So I did the pit file with the root66 first and it keeps going all the easy tell the end of the download amd then fails...however I then did the pit with the stock restore and it passed, rebooted my phone then goes into a boot loop and I shut it down like it says in the directions and try to restart into recovery and it goes right back to the bootloop..its like I dont have a recovery set up or something anymore if thats possible?? I'm working now but ill be back to messing with it once I get off so any advice will be appreciated and put to use at 5mst...thanks again everuone
I am just thinking out loud, but if recovery is hosed, maybe you could run casual, and have it reinstall rhe custom recovery. I have no idea if this would work, but it is one way ro get a custom recovery back on. Still looking around for more info, but I dont want to brick your device completely.
Edit- You may try flashing twrp from odin. Here is a link to team.win's website, and download. Again, I am thinkong out loud, and none of my advise is bulletproof.
