New case causes signal loss - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Bought this case for my better half's white SG2 - when we fit the case the phone signal drops all the way down to zero bars.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0088UWTJ4/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00
I have a black SG2 which has always been better for signal strength and if I fit the case my signal drops to about 0.5 bars. I have a casemate tough I use and it causes no problems with the signal, despite covering more of the phone surface than this new one.
It's a plastic case with leather (not sure if it's real leather?) and the inside of the case has a chrome finish.
Anyone got any ideas?

WAY...to girly.
That chrome finish thing could be messing with your signal. Shouldn't but it could.

I think its way too thick tbh but I agree with the other dude shouldnt get metal/chrome cases

it is the crome finish which acting a reflector to the antenna which is located at the bottom of your phone.
most cases leave the back bottom lightly coverede or exposed for better cell reception.

But you all agree that's too girly, right? lol

Forgot I posted this....thanks for the replies - more girly the better, it is my wife's phone. I'll maybe look at scraping off some of the chrome that's near the antenna and see if it make any difference - she does like the case.

Best case for jeans pockets?

I'm looking a light and thin case for my 8125 to put it in my jeans front pocket. I was thinking about a aluminum case but have read reports of signal lost with it. So I'm open to sugestions.
Thanks
Diego
I have been using the one from http://www.senacases.com/catalog/i-mate-KJAM-CASES-p-1-c-396.html (no belt clip version) and have been very happy with it.
What about those cheap ($10 shipped) plastic ones from Ebay. I bought one for my MDA, but wasnt thrilled with it. It fit nicely enuf, but made it a little (more) bullky. I didn't notice any signal loss or anything though.
im using an aluminium case but i didnt notice any signal loss ....
Aluminum case
I also use an aluminum case and I didn't see any signal degradation. I use it everyday and even on the move I am still connected to the Internet.
I find this case good for my Wizard. I wear it in the front pocket of my jeans all the time, with the case inside my pocket, and the clip facing out to keep it at the top of my pocket. It's a little tight at 1st, but after about a week the elastic will strech and fit nice.

Does every case impact signal strength?

I have the Casemate Barely There Aluminum and while I love it, I just cant deal with the signal loss which then impacts my battery life. The area which I work and live does not have the best signal. I rarely see full bars. For example, at my desk, I get maybe 1 bar with the case on but with the case off I get 3-4. My gps signal is also weaker as though this is not as much as issue for me since I rarely use gps.
So, my question: is there any hard case out there that wont impact signal strength? I really dont like TPU or soft cases.
Thanks in advance.
The Taurus bumper case is a metal case the doesn't seem to hinder your signal. Check out the review on this forum here and see if it suits your needs. The downside is that it doesn't have a back since its just a bumper and not a full body case. On the upside, it still gives you access to the battery compartment unlike full body cases.
I'm considering getting this case if i can't find a good soft TPU case like i had on my captivate.

Trident Kraken Series vs Otterbox

I have the Kraken on my phone and all my friends have the otterbox(litterally everyone of them). I must say that I like the kraken far better because of why my case has been through and the condition it is currently in.
Im an EMT for an ambulance service in West Virginia. For those that have never been to WV, here is an overview: We have mountains everywhere, it rains A LOT! and the climate is very "muggy".
Now with that in consideration and the fact that I work on an Ambulance, My phone goes through a LOT! And ever since May 2011 I've had this case for my phone. And the case still looks pretty much BRAND NEW! The silicone hasn't worn out and become overlapping on the plastic vs the Otterbox, that my friends have, The silicone wrap is easily pulled out of place and looks "messy" constantly.
The case does make the phone look bigger compared to the otterbox, but If they are Side By Side, you can barely tell, and the Kraken has an extra "flare" that makes the phone actually look better. Overall this is a GREAT case and the holster for the device is amazing. I have yet for the phone to "pop out" unless the clip isnt secured correctly to my belt and the holster will come loose(but the phone stays in place).
I recommend this case to anyone with an x or x2. This case has saved my phone quite a few times and is probably the best 60 dollar(online) investment I've made for a phone.
peace
Trident Kraken does look like a great product, I debated when I got my defender... but Otterbox's customer service is second to none that's why I went with Otterbox.
I probably would have given the Trident Kraken a serious consideration had I knew of its existence when I got my Otterbox.
I love the Otterbox but my only major complaint is the raised sides. It makes certain screen functions pretty rough, especially with Swype.
Also, the way the silicone wraps around the phone kind of bunches up at times and can irritate my OCD but, that's nothing major.
I love my kraken, ill be using it on the x series as long as its continued, ive had 5 diff cases and none compare to the kraken

By bunch up do youmean like the silicone it's coming off? Like not tight enough? Of so, the Kraken has yet to do that.

Kraken II on its way. Hopefully it and the holster will live up to your praise
Can't speak for the kraken II, my praise is for the originol.

I got an incipio case when I bought my X2 from the verizon store about a month ago in a bundle package.
It's like an otterbox knockoff, and the hard plastic part of the corner already cracked.
Ordered a Kraken II, its on its way and looks really nice!
I've got an Otterbox Commuter on my X2. I hadn't heard of Trident until now, but the Kraken looks very similar to the Otterbox Defender series. Looks like a nice case either way.
I'm always blown away when every couple days I gingerly take the case off to flash something or do a battery pull and I realize how small this phone is. These cases are so huge!
On the Otterbox Defender, from the screen to the actual top of the hard plastic case on all sides, its about 1/4 of an inch. How high is the Kraken II?
Thats probably one of my biggest complaints about the Otterbox. Using Swype becomes a small challenge with some words due to the raised sides around the entire screen with the Otterbox.
My Kraken II showed up yesterday and there was a defect that wouldnt allow it to snap together on part. Dropped it from waist high last night and the top came unsnapped. That may be due to the defect though. Called Trident and a new one is on its way with a return shipping label.
It seems like it would be a tough unit. I work in manufacturing and know things happen and ship defective items on accident. So no bad thoughts toward Trident. Customer service was excellent.
Buttons work great on it too.
My DX2 came with some cheap looking, thin Best Buy-ish case. I do a lot of traveling and found that when the signal was weak, taking the case off made a bit of a difference and improved the signal.
So my question, does this case seem to reduce your signal?

I'm not sure if your question is in regards to the Kraken II or the Otterbox however, I will say since I am using the Otterbox Defender, it does not impact my signal.
I'd like to get a Kraken II just to see which one I like more (I think I may actually like the Kraken II a bit more) mainly due to the built in kickstand.
I got the Kraken original for the x, but It does not impact the signal at all.I've had this since early June. Only complaint was I had to cut the plastic off the sensor because the screen wouldn't come back up after a call. But you can't tell the difference...
Random tip:
If the screen protector gets oil under it (when you can see 'bubble'like stuff between screen and screen protector)...buff baby powder on the inside of the screen protector..wipe off and clean...then repeat about 4 times to get it back to 'normal'did this today and worked like a charm.

Kraken is the way to go. Trident just seems to have better stuff. I'm using the Aegis right now and love it. Dropped twice and no problems yet. Plus it's not very bulky.

I havent had any signal issues since I started using my Kraken and I live in the middle of nowhere with a poor signal to start.

My kraken does the same thing, could you possibly send me a pic of what you trimmed? i havent been using mine lately because of it.
I'm pretty easy on my phones. Never drop or damage them. I un-necessarily put on the Incipio case about a month ago. Love it.

Why no replaceable back covers?

Why aren't there any wood or customizeable back covers for the note 3? I've found cases and stickers but nothing that just replaces the faux leather battery cover. It seems like such an easy thing to make...

There isn't any because theyre very difficult to craft.
Be warned those Leather, Carbon Fibre and Wood back doors are just plastic back doors with a thin 3M-type sticker on top.
I have an Orange coloured one from a respectable company.... I dont use it because it lacks the faux-leather feel.
I shall emphasise that, ONLY the Black Samsung Oem back door has that faux-leather feel.
The Aluminium looks legit, I haven't tried that but it could be bad in terms of fit, weight, heat dissipation, wireless charging, and radio signal (NFC, BT, WIFI, Cell, 4G).

Normally the aluminum one's also has a cheap and nasty plastic cover underneath the aluminum top layer.
And yes it does affect the wireless charging,NFC and wifi, not sure about BT, I don't use it much. As for radio signal, if you are in a strong signal area, you shouldn't notice anything, but if your signal is normally weak then, you get the signal drop.
Go to an official Samsung store. There are about 20 different backdoor replacements available... From metallic to candy-bright. They came out a while after the official release.

Aiy, tons there! I bought a few, wood one etc. All are in my desk as I use a Body Glove Satin case, or Otterbox Defender when I need something more, so you cant see 'em with either anyways...

aluminium/metal cover

have you some aluminium cover for lg g3 to recommend? Like the verus one. Thank you
i wouldent use a metal covers since they are known for blocking wifi/mobile signal
I had a Aluminium bumper and the mobile signal was horrible.
bad idea like it was said it blocks rf signal. plus just because it's metal doesn't mean it's stronger than polycarbonate plus you don't necessarely want a strong cover as it might damage the phone. plus it interferes with the magnetometer used for example in some gps apps. it's crap. a gymmic. good quality plastic is way much better
ok, so do you know some nice cover? I really don't know what buy :/
A slim tpu case with a lip ove the screen. Ive gone through many cases including the spigen Slim Armor. But i kept going back to a tpu case
