For some reason I cant watch HD videos in youtube whenever im on 3G/HSPA, the HD button on the bottom left it replaced by a HQ button. I also noticed that the quality in tvcatchup and bbc iplayer are reduced dramatically on 3g compared to wifi.
I have unlimited data and i use 3G connection more than wifi
Is there anyway to solve this problem

HQ = High Quality, So I think it's HD

I have ruled out dns, and I have plenty of bandwidth, however every youtube video on my wifi stops every few seconds.
There is no 4g, so I would be most appreciated if anyone has any pointers.

Is the red staying ahead if the little drag icon? I know on 3g it does it a lot for me but not on 4G or WiFi.

Where the 4g seemed to stream and cache, the 3d streams only and constantly stops. I have 12GB WITH UVERSE, so it's not bandwidth.

I can tell you it might be that the recent release of YouTube is wayyy messed up... I could be just that. Try going to mobile YouTube website and see if it streams normally... At least until they fix the app in an update.

anyone else having problems getting youtube to play HD video without lagging non stop or is this just a POS youtube thing

It's probably your data connection. Try it over wifi or lte (when available).

You could if you clicked the hd button on the top right. I used to all the time. I was on cm7 though but it would work.

I've noticed after the ICS OTA update that my video quality isn't nearly as crisp and clear on both youtube and netflix as it was on gingerbread. I'm streaming videos over a 4g connection and I have the HQ option checked on my youtube app. Has anyone else noticed this issue yet? Is there a fix?

It streams clearer on wifi than on LTE.

That may be the case, but that's not what I'm referring to. Before, when I was on gingerbread, if I was in an LTE area videos from both netflix and youtube would stream at a very crystal clear quality. Now that I'm on ICS I'm noticing a lower quality in the videos from both of those applications while in the same LTE scenario. Has anyone else noticed this? Or am I the only one?

Anyway to make the video quality better when I connect the mhl adapter from phone to tv. For example better resolution.???
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
Not really. What is the resolution, codec, and bitrate of the videos you are trying to watch?
For example YouTube videos. When playing mostly like squares not very good quality on a flat 46 lcd tv

The youtube app is not HD, which is why it looks like crap on a big 46 inch monitor
There is an HD YouTube apk you can install. (Installation requires root)

While playing music, the audio stutters when pulling down the quick setting panel. Also happens when hitting the home button. Is there a fix for this?

Turn off listening for OK Google command in Google Search/Now app.
Thanks that did it!
