[Q] Pictures Gone - HTC Rezound

So i have tried all the solutions posted in other threads, but none have worked for me. When I was flashing a new rom, for some odd reason, most of my pictures dissapeared (i would say about 70% dissapeared).
I don't know why this happened, is there a way to fix it or get them back?

You could try flashing a back up. Google plus is good for something.

What rom was it? Some of them wipe the internal sdcard. I lost a bunch of pics that way.

You can also lose files on the sdcard by accidentally unplugging the usb cord before ejecting the disk drives on your PC. That risk is why your PC always complains when you do that. With mp3 players and camera cards, data loss seems to happen more rarely. If you unplug early while in your recovery, it's even worse of a risk.
This happened to me. The files may still be in a folder called LOST+FOUND on your sdcard, but they won't be in a usable format. Supposedly there are apps for pc/mac that can rescue them, but don't cross your fingers.
That is why it is always a good idea to regularly back up your images to your PC or to a service like Google plus or Dropbox. Sorry that happened to you.

[Q] Dissappearing folders

At some point, I got an error that one of my apps couldn't find a file it pointed to. I went to Astro and discovered that "/sdcard" was inaccessible. So, I rebooted, after which it was accessible again, but all the folders I had added were gone without a trace.
How did this happen? When I plug the phone in to my PC, I usually click to "eject" on the PC before disconnecting the cable (although I don't notice any effect on the phone from the eject action). Should I be doing something on the phone instead?
And in any case, do I have to worry about file structure corruption, or is that something that the phone fixes on its own? This aspect of Android is new to me, so any help would be appreciated!
It just happened again!
This started after I installed Go Launcher, but I don't know if that's just a coincidence or not. Right now, I'm not even using it, I installed LauncherPro - and that's my default at the moment.
Does anyone know what's causing me to lose entire folders for no visible reason?
I'm having this same issue. I tried both Gladiatrix and Gingerblur and it's happened once on each so far. After a reboot, my internal SD will just be cleared out. Apps and such are fine, just anything in Sdcard folder.
Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening?
For me, I'm not sure if it happens after a reboot - I have specifically noticed it happen right after unplugging the USB cable. Now, one of the times it might have been after a reboot, I'm just not sure.
If anyone can help shed some light on this, it would be greatly appreciated!
I should also note that some of the folders are still there, but everything in them is gone. The folders that remain seem to be ones created by apps (camera's DCIM, dropbox, titanium backup). Folders I created (music, notifications, ringtones) are gone.

Yes! That's it, exactly! All folders created by the system, or apps are still there (I can't vouch for the contents, though, since I never checked what was inside them).
But all the folders I created are gone.
Someone's got to know what this is.
Looks like we are the only two having this issue Haphim, lol.
I've unmounted and formatted my internal SD card from within android. Reloaded everything on it and so far so good. I've rebooted a bunch of times to try and get it to do it again but I can't. Hopefully this fixes it. Will keep you updated.
Just did it again. This time it erased all folders. Again it was after a reboot. Next step is when i get home to sbf back to stock, and either keep it that way or re-root and install custom rom. I'm starting to think it could just be a bad internal sd card.
I bought this phone on ebay. Has anyone ever dealt with trying to get a phone repaired they bought off ebay? Anything i should know?

Well, my phone is brand new, bought from Amazon - so I'm not sure your source is the cause. If you do some searching, you'll see a number of other people have experienced this as well, so it's not limited to just us.
Perhaps we need to contact Motorola, I don't know.
Yea I might contact motorola soon.
I just noticed, in the /mnt directory, I keep getting new folders with the name "usbdisk_1.x". So far I have 1.0-1.7. Is this normal? could it be part of the issue?
Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
update: I sbf'd back to stock. Left it that way for half a day, rebooting a bunch of times. SDcard never wiped. I just installed greyblur a few hours ago and so far so good with that too. Restarted a bunch and no issues yet. Will keep you updated.

That's great news! But that leaves the question on whether the problem is being caused by one of the other apps you had installed (or maybe even the 1.57 update).
I look forward to seeing how this turns out for you.
I suppose it could have been an app. I've be installing all the apps I use as I go. I decided it would be best to not restore apps using titanium.
I think it's pretty safe to say flashing to stock and starting over fixed this for me. No issues in the past couple days. Rebooting a lot just to be sure. :-D

Only one I don't think I've installed again yet is Angry Birds lol.
Update: Phone wiped SD on me again. She's going back to seller on ebay. Hopefully I can find another one decently cheap.

Unless Motorola tells you otherwise, I wouldn't bother, because I don't think swapping the phone will get you anywhere. You and I are not the only ones with this issue.
Unless Motorola tells you it's hardware, then either it's a bug on the O/S, or it's a bug with one (or more) of the apps we're using. And in either of the two latter cases, swapping phones won't make a difference.
Since I'm pretty sure I've seen people complain about this issue with *different* models of Android phones, I'm guessing the problem is not hardware.
For what it's worth, I got rid of Go Launcher, and I haven't seen the problem happen since. It's not a guarantee of course, but prior to that, my internal sdcard was getting wiped at least once a day.
I'd recommend troubleshooting this via the half life method. Uninstall half of your apps and see if the problem re-occurs. If enough time passes that you're certain you're in the clear, re-install half of the apps you uninstalled and test again. Keep doing that until you figure out the culprit.
I hope you're wrong, only because I sent mine back and ordered a brand new one. I didn't want to bother trying with Motorola on the first one I bought because I got it on ebay and had a limited window to return it in. If the new one has issues, I'll call them up.

SD Card music & photos disappear.

Could be my card but only after I performed my 1st reset, this Houdini act started.
The content is still on the card but the Music & Gallery application will randomly decide you don't have any. Of course I panicked at 1st, even with a backup on the PC but looking in Astro file manager, it was all still there.
A little annoying.
Edit:
WTF, only Astro sees the content. Google Music didn't either.

I have a somewhat similar problem in that the phone reads the card but not the music.
Mine was after a restart as well (though it wasn't by choice, I was out Saturday night and pulled my phone out to see that it had reset and recovered from an error and wanted to send a report to HTC).
I assume you haven't made any headway on yours without a post, I tried removing and reseating the SD card but it didn't help. It reads the space correctly and everything, but nothing will read the MP3s on there.
Kind of annoying, really liked rocking out with the Beats on this phone.
U guys using the HTC app and what not? My phone has yet to have pics or music disappear.... Have you taken everything off your sd card did a scan for bad sectors on it and then did a full format on windows then on the phone...

It does come back eventually but it could be either bad sectors, the way the OS scans the new SD location or the card speed is slow. Like right now, everything is working fine. I might clean the card & keep the mp3s & pics on the root of the card.
I was going to get an 64GB sxdc card before the month is out.

Try this app out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.addz.mediascanner&hl=en
It'll force the OS to rescan the memory for media files.
If all else fails, try this. I had to do this when running into a similar issue.
Are you guys using quality sd cards or knock-off! I ran into similar problems with cheap eBay knock-offs.
I buy genuine SanDisk now and never have sd trouble anymore!

The card in my case is a 32GB SanDisk (no class listed) from Verizon.
Tried both & still getting a headache over it. Pissed that Astro has no problem seeing it but Gallery & Music play peek-a-boo with my content.
I seem to be the only one having this issue so I guess it's the speed of the card maybe? I hope anyway.
For now I moved my Photos & Music to the phone's 9GB.
I am having a similar issue. I've had my EVO LTE for 7 days and bought a new 32GB microsd card for it as well. After almost every restart or power off my sd card will unmount and I have to go into settings to remount it.
This also sometimes happens after the phone has been sitting for several hours, such as when I woke this morning (this is rare).
In my case it is either mounted and all date intact or NOT mounted and therefore inaccessible. The same card works fine in my EVO 3D so i'm thinking this is a bug in the ROM or perhaps the port for the card.
I'm LOVING this phone... getting great battery life, can't keep it out of my hands but there are a few annoying minor bugs so far but I do not regret purchase at all.
I have hardware version 003 and also suffer from the WiFi sleep bug even though I have it set to never sleep and have dedicated it to a single frequency (it sleeps whether on 2.4 or 5GHZ dedicated).
Beginning to wonder if this ROM has some issues managing services after prolonged idle times.
Via Settings>Storage
I formatted my card through HTC's Storage options in settings (done by 1. UnMount & 2. Earse Storage Card) & moved my music & photos from Phone Storage to Storage card.
I noticed Android will auto create folders so hopefully this act means things will work as intended.
So far so good.
I used this option exclusively to move the files rather than moving them by other means.
So far so good. Expecting the worst every 15 minutes, lying with the claim that I have nothing.
I had an issue with Google music not seeing mp3s on my sd card. Going to settings and erasing the cache/data fixed it.

This worked great!. thanks for the help
Still doesn't work for me :'( I guess no music for me
Happened to me with my music and some photos after a reset or fresh flash..I noticed that for.some reason the files moved to internal storage ..I just copied and pasted the whole file where the music and photos were located to where the they were on my sd card..and it worked..I'm not used to having internal storage..taking a little while to get used to
Sd Card
I had this happen yesterday. Music and gallery disappeared. I am using the 8 gig card from my ogevo4g. I believe the problem is the card slot. If you push the card all the way down into the slot the intermittent disappearing of gallery and music happens. I pulled the card and put it back in but not pushing it all the way to the bottom of the slot and no more issues.
I love the phone but I'm not sure the htc build quality is there on this one like it was with the original evo?

[Q] Backing up Internal Storage

I seem to have accumulated a lot of stuff in my internal storage. Every time I have flashed a new ROM, it seems to just move everything into a directory called '0' and starts the root from scratch.
I am about 6 '0' directories deep now, and its taking up 10gb.
I would like to just backup the whole lot to my PC, then next time I flash a new ROM just format the internal SD card as well and get back all that precious space!
Plugging in the USB and copying over that way is apparently going to take over 1 day to copy everything, and I think from trying to do this before it got to a certain point and then something broke. Its using the soft mount, without a drive letter (this is so SO much slower and less successful than back in the day with the proper mass storage mounting).
Also Kies wont even connect to the phone even though a) I am loathe to use something like that and b) it would likely not get all the files I want anyway.
So how can I just take a full backup of my Internal Storage, ensuring it gets all files, and doesn't take 24 hours+ (which is ludicrous for only 10gb of files)
Cheers

I actually use Ubuntu at work and it doesn't like mounting it. Will give it another try though.
How does it take more than one day to copy 10 gb? Mine copies 90 gb in less than an hour. There might be a problem with ur cable or computer.

Its an i7, 12gb RAM, etc. Definitely doesn't need an upgrade. And I get the same issues copying to other machines, using other cables, on different ROMs etc. Just seems like MTP is a buggy POS. Have seen other people complaining about the same thing, so I presumed it was just the way it was.
Might see if my other halves N4 is as bad, would rule out my S3 or not.
Anyways, couldn't get it mounted in Ubuntu, all sorts of issues. Might try setup FTP server on the phone and go over wifi

MTP still being lame regardless of PC / OS. this is getting silly now. tried an ftp server on the phone but it seems really flakey on files it moves and fails on
all i want is to take a complete internal SD backup, so I can do a full wipe and start from scratch, cant believe it is this hard to do
is there anything that will dump internal SD to external SD? then I can just remove the external SD and copy manually

yeah. I guess u could just copy from ur internal SD to ur external SD manually. 10 gb... Well... On a phone. Ur 'i7 12 gb' com takes 1 day plus to copy so i hope u are mentally prepared xD. I will rly just use the com to copy paste. Since if u copy and paste it in ur external sd. It will be thr forever unless u copy and paste it to ur com. Which will take another day.

SD card problems

Hi All,
Anyone have issues with their sdcard being detected with the G5? I have an 850 and a lot of the time the sdcard stops working or being detected and i cant see why. A reboot and then waiting 20 mins usually fixes it and it shows up in the storage section but its getting annoying.. May have to try another card to see what the story is with that but for now i wondered if anyone else had drama with it.
Cheers
Cass
Maybe the card is dying i would suggest backing up the data just to be safe
No problem with mine

Backed up and reformated the card on pc as ntfs. Card detected on insert, it told me it was corrupt, which it was due to no ntfs support and it formatted it again as exFat. Lets see how it goes now.

This seems to be frequent to a certain extent. This is a hardware issue. Same with S7 Edge or non-Edge (visit page: digitaltrends.com/mobile/galaxy-s7-edge-problems/8/
It seems that LG has the same issue. It could also be an Android 6 issue.
I got my new S7. I have sent to other one for repair. They changed the motherboard. Then it came back with the same issue. Then Samsung sent me a bran new S7. I have no more SD card notifications at all. Not even when I reboot the phone. Yesterday (again) I was listening to music (a set of 2 hours long) from my SD card. I started to look at pictures (again) at the same time. After 40 mins or so, my phone stopped the music and stopped being able to read my SD. Everything froze and I had to reboot. Then, again, a few mins later (listening to music and looking at pictures), it did it again. On the second time, I was not able to reboot the phone using the power button (keeping pressure for 10 seconds). I had to do it using the volume down/home/power. The phone screen was totally black and there was no way to unfreeze it. My notification light was flashing blue (as I had new emails and text), but the phone was not responsive at all.
It seems like Samsung just removed the SD notification as a whole in the new phone but did not fix the issue.
For those who don't have the issue, before commenting, I would appreciate if you could listen to music and look at your pictures at the same time (all from the micro SD card) for at least 30-40 minutes.
I strongly believe that ALL phones have this issue, but that those who don't just have not access pictures while listening to music (demanding on the SD card reading). Do it if you can... and see if it creates problems. And let me know once you did the above.
I forgot to mention. I am a computer and smartphone savy. I flashed all my S1, S2, S3, S4 on a daily basis. I did purchased another SD card (even if my sandisk is working perfectly on my S5). I got a Samsung evo 64gm. The issue remains on both SD cards, and before you comment about it, YES i did reformat on multiple occasions both with my pc AND within the phone. I also did factory reset on multiple occasions. So it is not the SD's the problem. Just trust, I did everything possible.
I have the g5 se and have bought a 128gb card (actually have 3) but none of the 3 work with this phone and when i manage to get the files (music) on the sd when in device it deletes them all is this still the issue people are having

Copying Contents of internal Storage

Hi guys, having serious issues here and hoping someone can point me in the right direction to resolve them.
In all 'Smart Phones' I've had including the S3, S5, S7 etc I've been able to copy the entire contents of the internal storage to the external SD card or my Desktop PC with no issues at all, but on this S9+ It gets about half way through copying then stops, the 'copying' dialogue just disappears. I've tried in normal powered on mode, booting into TWRP and all result in the same problem, it's most annoying, I want to backup the entire contents, reset/reflash the ROM and then copying the internal storage stuff back but it just won't let me, unless I go through the tedious route of copying folder-by-folder...
I thought it might be an issue with my PC but just tried it on my laptop with the same result....
Anyone else having this problem? found a resolution?
Thanks
Are you copying the content via cable or wireless connection? Try switching this, also notice when the process breaks, copying which folder or file, try excluding that as well.
Thanks for the reply, ethernet cable mostly, on a gigabit network, I have tried wifi and that failed too, basically I have about 105 files, mostly folders but a few about 20-ish standalone files (documents etc) obviously the actual file count runs into the thousands, copying always gets to about 55 or 56 out of that 105 then breaks, every single time, I have the same issue going back too, from the PC or SD card to the internal storage, I didn't have this problem on my S7 Edge a couple of weeks ago. I thought it might have been caused by me flashing a debranding firmware (xeu from H3G and back again) but I always flash then factory reset when I do anything like that ( that comes from my old HTC HD2 custom ROM days ) but I've had this issue from day one on the S9+ as there was no root when I got mine I just copied my files over to go unrooted for a while until the Devs plied thier magic, well tried too, as that's when this failure malarky started. This is currently my 2nd S9+ with a 3rd on it's way and will be here on Monday. I've convinced myself that there are some serious hardware flaws on the S9+ and I'm realy hoping someone could say do this, do that and it works....
I guess it could also be Oreo, I have heard rumours that it's not the best Android version to have been released - I'm hoping that one or two of the many very knowledable people on here could help me, if not that I hope the replacement has come from a different batch and is okay, fingers crossed eh?
The Issues I'm having with this device is seriously giving my loyalty-to-Samsung mojo a severe knocking...
