[Q] extract keyboard to transplant on another device - HTC EVO 3D

Hi
I'm new to android (but I'm tech savy, though) and I have a small request. I saw several request for my problem but I wasn't able to find any valuable answer anywhere.
I have my former phone wich is a HTC EVO 3D and I liked the keyboard on it. I would like to extract the files of the keyboard from it and transplant them into my new SAMSUNG GALAXY S III.
I would like to avoid "REPLACEMENT" suggestions (like use this or this 3rd party one I liked, etc) since I badly want SPECIFICLY this one and no other one.
So if a kind person can provide me with a simple tutorial on how to extract and transfer the files, I would appreciate a lot.
thanks

You rooted?

Not possible because HTC IME uses sense UI components. Alternatively can use smartkeyboard pro identical as HTC arrow keyboard.

No offense meant to you personally, but you like that piece of garbage? :what:
I agree with the previous poster about it not being possible. You could try to move the file he listed to /system/apps on the Samsung and try it (assuming you rooted, I'd nandroid first). But I doubt it'd work.

Chance of Sense ports?

Hey guys.
Am still being torn between the Sensation and the Galaxy S 2 and, although I'm inclining towards the GS2,I still have some issues. Two of them are the biggest:
Plastic body(can live with that) and the absence of Sense(made a rime there! ).
As for the second one, what do you guys think?I saw two days ago that Sense 2.1 has been ported almost fully to the Nexus S,so why wouldn't the GS2 be able to run, say,Sense 3?
Seriously though, imagine this beast and Sense 3.Magic!If it is possible,I'm most probably sold!

same for me, i'm now a few weeks without sense, and neither launcher pro nor any of the other launchers are comfortable or "smooth" in the same way sense was...
i'm sure it would be possible to port sense to sgs2, but i think this would be a lot of hard work. without some dedicated devs there is absolutely no chance.
in the meanwhile i'm enjoying the sgs2 very much, the hardware is way ahead of anything HTC could offer at the moment - the overall user experience is almost superb...
what do you guys miss because im not understanding. It doesnt offer the same functionality with sense on past Winmo devices. Im not trying to be rude but help me understand what you guys are missing. Is it the eyecandy or flipclock?
I'm curious..
Don't misinterpret the tone of what I'm about to ask.. I assure you it is merely an inquiry..
If people love the sense UI why wouldn't they just exclusively by HTC devices?
Again, don't get me wrong.. I've used Sense (HTC Touch Pro) and Touch Wiz (Captivate, Vibrant, and soon SGS II) and I too miss the integrated prettiness of SenseUI but SenseUI isn't gonna happen on a non-HC device.. I'd venture to say ever.. (If I'm in error here please correct me) Sure I know we cannot predict tomorrow but I've read way too many threads where people have tried and as with most cases with attempted ports there's just too much custom code related to Sense to port to a non-Sense environment.
I'd LOVE to see native SenseUI on a Galaxy class device.. Sadly I doubt we ever will..
Intruda119 we are kinda having a civilized thing here, not intended for flaming.Do you, like any normal human being, have an opinion? If yes,say it.Else, don't criticise others.

Well,I want real power this time, that's why I'm turning to the Sam side!
Seriously though,I'd buy HTC again but all my smartphones have been HTC,so I kinda want a break.
What do I like in Sense?Mmm...Never had to answer that one before!Well, for me it's like they took all the good characteristics of other launchers and put them together in a nice,feature-packed(and resource-heavy however)interface.
Well,guess I'll try a detox...

who cares about Sense? you want Sense UI? get a HTC. i won't be using Sense or TW4 anyways. you want Sense on SGS2? wait for half a year for devs to port a buggy, crashy copy.
people talking about ROMs and crap...wait, noobs....wait
I would like sense, but after reading engadget's review of how it is not as snappy as the galaxy s 2, I wouldn't want to hinder the galaxy s 2 and it's goodness.
I guess im the only one to use 1-2 homescreen pages.

Just remember, software can be changed and upgraded. Hardware can't.
I only use 1.

CM and MIUI are infinitely more important to me than Sense. If I wanted HTC's restrictive UI on my GS2 I would have bought a HTC instead.
Anyway, I doubt you will see a proper port of Sense and all it's required libraries any time soon. They have only just managed to get a usable version on the Galaxy and that phone is over a year old.

I can't imagine it being laggy, it already runs pretty smooth on the desire anyway the whole sense experience makes things for users much smoother.

I'm not sure so much that it is lag. But if i have the same setup on launcherpro and sense and the same animation, the launcherpro just looks SOO MUCH smoother. THink it's something to do with the fps?
I'm curious as well. WHAT is it about Sense that everyone wants? I come from a WM background so for us it's that WM is ****ty and Sense provides a pretty and functional (or as functional as we can get) interface to the user. Android, however, is BRILLIANT and has plenty of apps and launchers and what not that it doesn't need you to have ANOTHER interface controlling everything. Isn't it a blessing not to have sense??
I'd really like to hear your guys opinions.
I think so, seeing as I got bored of it. and switched to launcherpro after a few months, however this was on my first ever android phone and I didn't even know that there was such a thing as a UI overlay for android! If I'd known you could get replacement launchers from the market I would have done it much earlier!

Well apart from having the best keyboard, email, message, gallery, contact, dialer, and widgets
like friendstream it's also the tight integration of everything with everything and it's beautiful too.

I agree with the dialer and Widgets. But it hasn't got the best of everything else. Not to mention thr fact that there are better Widgets on the market. I've been using a custimizable, scrolling Calender for a long time now on launcherpro.
And don't know about sense 3 but the gallery on my desire really isn't amazing. Its pretty average and takes a llong time to load images.

[Q] Beats by Dr HTC

So when the new sensation lands with the Beats software will it be possible to grab an apk and put it on any device? I imagine HTC will make it sense dependent or something irritating like that.
Fingers crossed

Sense ui port suggestion

Hi guys, do you guys think that porting sense ui of the HTC flyer to the touchpad is possible?
ive already looked into it, and the flyer would not work too well due to the chipset and the resolution. the Jetstream is more appropriate, but would be a ***** to port and would still require res adjustments, but not as bad as the flyer.
also, there still isnt a decryped pucinni (jetstream) rom available for us to muck about with, but if an eager dev/team want to REALLY get their hands dirty, the flyer rom would work eventually
have fun porting over HTC's frameworks to a non HTC device.

You say that like it's just short of impossible. The Nexus One has some great sense ports. I'm sure many other phones have as well. It's a lot of work, but very doable.
thast what i was sayin, it CAN be done, but man what a job that would be, it would definately need an experienced team that can handle disassembling HTC frameworks, and mass res adjustments
i DO love HTC software (sense ftw), but i can live with only having it on my sensation and not my TP

who manufactures the nexus one....... HTC
I was in the original group trying to bring sense to the Galaxy S series.
I never said it was impossible.
I just said have fun.
how similar are the touchpad's insides to the jetstream...i know the processor is the same and the display is obviously not the same.
Of course the other problem is developers need touchpads more than newbies like me who're interested in enjoying the spoils of their work (to put it bluntly), BUT it'd be great to see a nice glossy look sense ROM along with this glossy fingerprint mess case

[Q] sense 3 or 3.5

i use htc sensation and i was thinking of getting a sgs2 but i really love sense and i still love my phone.
i was wonderning if any of the sense as well as the os can be ported to sgs2
for example can htc sensation rom be used on sgs2 if yes then i would buy sgs2
the only reason i'm thinking of getting sgs2 is because of the screen Super amoled but my sensation has also very good screen and that is because of higher resoulation.
please reply back to me let me know if that can be done
Its not possible, sense cannot run on any Samsung phones only HTC. You also couldn't install a sensation ROM due to hardware differences

As far as I am aware, there really isn't a way to get actual "sense" on anything other than a stock based HTC ROM, as the sense features are not open sourced, and function through deep integration with the HTC ROM. So will you see sense on an SGS2 - almost absolutely not.
That being said, the "look" and behavior of sense can be pretty closely replicated through the use of 3rd party launchers, themes, and apps. Your best bet to doing this would probably be to look through dev forums on HTC phones which have a CM7 or other non-HTC based ROM running on them, as some members have probably already tried to do this and posted the apps/themes etc. they are using.
You haven't mentioned any specific features of sense that you would "need" to have, so I guess you would need to narrow those down and see if you could find a suitable 3rd party replacement....
They are working on this port on the international gs2.... maybe follow them

Stick my HTC if you really want Sense....

[REQ] Sense 4.0 Theme

Like most people here at XDA, I am buzzing over the HTC One X. Of course again like most I am in a contract and can not afford a quad core tegra processor beast with the best camera ad I have ever seen.
So can anyone please suggest me a way to achieve this fresh HTC One series look.
Thanks
Edit: I just remembered a basic XDA forums rule, use the search button. And guess what I found this nice thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565381
I guess some of the things can be applied to our X8's and hola I will have some aesthetics similar to the HTC One X
Download theme and apply in theme chooser!
You don't have theme chooser? Then install custom ROM for your device!
nice and every thing can be applied
