Water damage indicators? - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

I have not been able to locate the water damage indicators on this phone. Any idea where they might be hiding?
I discovered that my phone has a large number of dead pixels and an area with red bleeding. I was going to try to do a warranty claim with HTC because wirefly removed my tep when I upgraded. I wanted to check for water damage before I send this thing out just to get it back untouched.
I know this thing hasn't gotten wet but that was the case with my og EVO and those little bastards turned red somehow.
Thanks.

the only way that you can get to the water indicators is to open the phone up. obviously doing that would void your warranty defeat the purpose. just send it in and see what they tell you.

If they can use them to void warranty then at least 1 should be somewhere visible without disassembling the phone and voiding warranty.. Otherwise they can do or say whatever they want.. Just an opinion.. Although I know it doesn't mean much.. Lol

Take this with a grain of salt or two. When I was having issues with my reception, the kid at sprint said I had some sort of build up on some of the components in side. He claimed it was some sort of water damage. I asked him to show me the water damage indicators... He said this phone has none.

[Q] Motorola Atrix Warranty

Hey everyone,
Today my touchscreen/digitizer started acting up on my Atrix. I can't click items in the bottom left corner in a certain area (probably 50px across, 300px high) and it's very annoying (duh). I can't even type properly, as 5+ keys are affected by this.
So I filled out a RMA form on Moto's website...
Here comes the question.. sort of... Motorola says if they find physical damage they will not repair the device and they will return it to me and make me pay for return shipping...
Now, has anyone had any experience with this? (ie Motorola returned their phone and didn't repair it?) The reason I'm asking is because the original digitizer and LCD on this phone broke months ago, so I repaired it myself to save money. That involved me opening the phone and replacing the parts myself. Would motorola see this as "damage"?
On most products you see a "void if removed" sticker, but there are NONE on the Atrix.
Should I just re-do the RMA form and mark is as "physically damaged" and see if they repair it?
Any help this subject in general would be great. Thanks!
All RMA services say this exactly.
If there is no damage to the phone, they will NOT be able to deny you warranty. I have dealt with many companies and many different RMA's. As long as the item doesn't look damaged, they usually give you warranty service.
And with phones, there is a piece of paper with dye in it, when it gets wet it changes colour. If that has changed colour as well they will deny warranty.
Only happens when the phone gets wet though.
Any marks on screws, torn stickers, etc. can be grounds for rejecting warranty coverage. If you burred the screws removing/replacing them, this is the easiest thing to detect. If they are being really anal, they will know you have replaced parts yourself, and your warranty will be void. Sorry, but I'm not going to sugercoat my answer given you are asking a very straight forward question. If any damage is visible/evident, and this does include self repairs, you do risk losing warranty coverage.

Don't have to be sorry about not sugarcoating it. This was the answer I was looking for. Thank you for being clear about it.

There isn't any damage to the phone, but the screws do have marks on them, and little things like that. Actually, I think one of the screws is missing inside from the repair I did.
I'll probably be selling it "as is" on ebay/craigslist based on this information.
My warranty is based out of the USA (and I'm in Canada) so when Moto is done with it, it's being returned to a small business in the states who will hold it for me. However, if Motorola decides to charge me for return shipping based on the fact it's out of warranty, the business will probably not accept the charges. Then UPS will have my phone..
Thanks for the quick replies though!
On the other hand, you may get lucky and they just send a refurb out soon as they receive your phone.

Buying a used Evo 3d

Just wondering how to check if the phone has been wet. The person mentions phone doesn't turn on due to overcharging?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Haven't really looked back on my EVO, but when I bought a used Hero a while back they usually have some sort of sticker/seal that looks off showing that it has been wet.
This seal was on the back of the phone and located behind the batt.
Not sure if this will help but something to look in to though. If not, you probably could just contact your local sprint store and find out for sure though.
There should be a white sticker on the battery, if its pink it got wet. Im sure there are some inside the phone for repair reasons. I don't know how you over charge the evo3d because both the phone and the battery itself have circuitry to prevent this. If it has a bad battery, which is possible, a new battery should turn on the phone right away.
I hope your buying that phone as a paper weight!! Stay away unless they're giving it to you for free or your going to use it for parts.
You can open enroll in sprint insurance before the end of the month. Please do it for your new one...worst case is you are out $8.

As an "employee" for a "Un-named" carrier there are several indicators on the device. One is on the battery and there is another on the actual motherboard. These indicators should be white, any coloration of pink or red means the indicators have come in contact with some form of liquid. It does not automatically mean the phone was submersed fully in water and it also doesn't mean the phone is 100% dead. On the other side of things, it may actually be repairable with a little TLC.
I myself am one of those lucky individuals. I purchased a EVO 3D that would not power on at all and the seller just wanted to get rid of it. I bought it for $80. Took it home and fixed it. I've been using the it with no issues so far
You can enroll in Total Equipment Protection for $8 a month. Once added on your account it will take 20mins to take affect and if need be you can claim insurance for $100. Good Luck, hope it works out!

Dust Under Screen

Anyone had any luck with using the sprint warranty for the dust under the screen issue the 3D seems to have...I have a feeling the store techs will give me a hard time like always and claim it is physical damage and flag my account....again...

Just left the repair center because I was told to "Keep my phone in my truck while I'm at work." after telling them I work in construction. I called HTC and am sending it out for a brand new one.

Sad part about that is...I pay $8 a month for service, so I don't have to deal with HTC ... might as well cancel TEP if they don't stand behind it.
Sent from my 3vo via Tapatalk
This might hurt to do but if nothing else works, crack the glass. Make sure its less than one inch and two cracks or less. Based on TEP they should replace it for you at no cost. I would call your local store before you do it though.

I was also sent on my way when I asked at a corporate store about the dust under the screen... Have tep here also.
I was able to get my evo 3d replaced because I had dust under the screen, i used tep as well to get it covered. I found that it likely depends on the mood of the cs rep, i had to go to 3 stores before I could get one that would agree to replace it lol

Alright tried a different repair center and finally got the techs to replace my screen. The reason dust gets under the screen is because the earpiece lets in debris and since the evo is a multi layer screen, the dust gets between layers. He offered to let me add insurance also. I have 30 days to add from today. Should I?

If you aren't very careful with your phone or don't have an upgrade available soon, then yeah. Otherwise, I'd say it's a huge waste. The only reason I have it is because someone took it upon themselves to add it to my line when I upgraded to the 3D and I haven't gotten around to *****ing them out about it.

[Q] can someone take a picture of their warrenty sticker

Ok I've had so much problems. I pretty much cracked my screen (Verizon will charge me so no replacement) and then bought a replacement screen and had a store put it on for me. Then the led lights started showing up on the bottom below buttons in white and dust behind screen. So I decided to take a replacement from Verizon but then they said no cause warrenty sticker was "altered". So then I took back to the store that fixed the screen to fix the led problem and they said we can't cause u bought the screen without the LEDs and the orgional LEDs broke.
So I need someone if they could take an hd close up of there rezound warrenty sticker print it and glue it on. I do not care I will take the risk so I can replace at Verizon

LOL well you can buy void stickers on ebay for HTC phones, so I dont think it would be a fraud but ours is green and the ones on ebay are black unless verizon does care what the color is just if the sticker is there.
Just because you can buy something on eBay doesn't make your action legal. You could legally buy VOID stickers for purposes other than commuting fraud against the manufacturer.

Void warranty?

How can I find out if the warranty for this phone has been void?
I know for HTC phones, there is a small seal covering one of the screws, but I don't know for this phone.

AFAIK, unless you rip the unit apart (or physical abuse), there is no way to know the warranty has been voided, at least on the hardware side.
On the software side, unless you left behind the CMW and SU, there is no way to know.
I, maybe wrong though.
As someone that has taken apart several of these phones (I bought the white i9100 housing) there is no sticker on the inside, or anything to indicate its been opened. My wife's iPhone had a sticker covering a screw inside, but I could not find anything like that on the GS II, when I looked. I also did not see an additional water indicator inside, the one you see when you take off the battery cover is part of the back plate, not the phone inside. These phones are as easy to take apart as they are to root: crazy easy.

Water and physical damage I know. That applies to any phone. I was wondering about actually opening the device

And of course the flash counter. Most obvious way to tell if you've rooted and installed unsupported software. Make sure to wipe that.

I haven't and not intended opened my S2 but technically, the warranty is void when you actually open it up.
Will they know? I don't know and i don't think they care much about it unless some physical damage clearly shown.
