Hi friends, my Xperia ray stuck at boot loop, which was stock ICS non rooted devices,
For that flashed gb firmware using flashtool, after that its worked well,
then I began root,
-bootloader unlocked - Success
-Rooting for firmware(4.0.2.A.0.62) - Failed, (with this method point No-2a,
-Then, flashed a ICS kernel on GB firmware(4.0.2.A.0.62) - Successkernel taken From this thread
-After flashing kernel flashed a ROM via CWM - Success Flashed ROM thread
-then pressed power button to boot the devise, its showing old GB Boot logo, and stuck at boot loop
My question is..
-For flashing kernel and ROM is required Root on stock?, but i have unlocked bootloader only, due to failed to root
-then how to root device on GB firmware
-or please explain in your way
Did you do the correct wipes before installing the Rom???

Here is what to do -
1. Make sure that you are on an ICS Kernel. If not, use the command fastboot -i 0x0fce flash boot boot.img
2. Copy ROM to SD Card.
3. Boot into CWM and select "Wipe data/factory reset" and "Wipe cache partition". Then go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache and battery stats.
4. MOST IMPORTANT - Go to mounts and storage and select "Format /system".
5. Choose "Install Zip from sd card."
6. Install the Rom and enjoy a blazing fast Xperia

The thread you referenced contains both a GB kernel and an ICS kernel. Make sure you get the right one. It looks to me like you flashed the GB kernel and you get a boot loop because the ICS ROM and the GB kernel are incompatible. Here is a list of kernels: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36177584&postcount=2
Make sure that you flash the kernel with fastboot and then flash the ROM, wipe cache and dalvik cache and then reboot.
Thank you friends
Now its working fine

Hi,
I messed with my Xperia S a little bit and seemd to have bricked it.
Here is the history of what I did:
- flashed DooMLORD's kernel in order to have CWM recovery
- backed up my ROM
- flashed the free-xperia kernel for CM9
- changed my "build.prop" settings to L26i instead of LT26i
- flashed the CM9 ROM
Now nothing works. I am stuck in a boot loop.
Tried recovering with the free-xperia CWM recovery, but it tells me that it cannot mount /system.
Tried to re-flash DooMLORD's kernel, but it is "mad" at me for changing the model to "L26i".
I cannot access my /system/
I cannot put the phone in fastboot mode.
I am lost. I need help!
Thank you
Fastboot flash DooMKernel.
Sent from my LT26i using XDA
Thanks!
That did the trick.
I managed to get into fastboot and flashed an old (v2) DooM kernel.
From there on restoring worked.

An alternative would be to keep a copy of stock firmware (or something as stable) on your PC and flash it using fastboot. Been doing this since my first android phone
Hey guys,
actually I didn't want to create a thread for this as I thought I might resolve it myself or that I'll find the answer elsewhere.. But after 5 attempts with each different methods, I don't know what to try anymore.
I have the Xperia MIni (st15) and I want to try the Smultronic ROM. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1796272). My attempts looked like this:
I flashed the ICS .587 stock ROM via Flashtool to get a clean thing to start with (including full wipe)
I root by flashing the .562 kernel, run the Doomlord script to gain root access and reflash the .587 stock kernel
I install CWM (xparts or cwm-install script, both works and doesn't make any difference)
I choose the smultronic 5.0 ".zip" in CWM (no wipe) and follow the instructions in Aroma installer. (Unlocked Bootloader chosen, as I have one).
The installation finishes successfully after a few seconds (!) and I am proposed to reboot.
The result of this is that my phone will get stuck at the SONY screen (>20 min.), which up to my knowledge means that there is no boot process for a ROM, just the bootloader showing it is alive.
I tried a bunch of things, like starting from a "used" stock ROM, fully wipe the system (+Dalvik) before starting the installation or choosing another Recovery installation method. No problem to recover any stock rom, but Smultronic still don't want to start when I try the above again.
I really feel a bit stupid, as this ROM is actually made for my particular device, and I don't manage to install it. Anyone finds the error?
Thanks a lot.

If your bootloader is unlocked, why are you using xparts to install cwm instead of a custom kernel?
To your problem, boot in cwm, do the wipe data/factory reset, install the rom, reboot and see what happens. If it's not working, flash another custom kernel or download an older version of the rom...

Hi all i cant get the flashing to work..
im following the [ROOT][FTF][locked/unlocked]Neo/Neo V Official 4.0.4 ICS 4.1.B.0.431; 4.1.B.0.587. thread
and tried Rosh547467 example
1- ICS 4.0.4(4.1.B.0.587)
2. Still locked bootloader. (my phone is unlocked as what i can see with SE bootloader)
3. Flashed 4.1.A.0.562 kernel using Flash tool. (flashtool wont work, its just stuck in "1- unplug the device window" when i try to flash. so i tried SE Bootloader_Unlocking_Relocking and actually did flash 4.1.A.0.562. BUT choose the version with only the kernel and loader. So now the phone dosent have a rom to work correctly.)
4. Done rooting with the help of DooMLoRD's script. (then tried to use this. just keep geting adb drivers to old or waiting for device.)
these bellow i havent tried becouse im stuck.. :crying: I really need help badly..
5. Flashed back 4.1.B.0.587 kernel using Flashtool.
6. Root success. .Tested with rootcheck apps from google play store.
7. Installed CWM from x-part app downloaded from google play store.
8. Installed Titanium backup app and took back of whole app+data.
9. Downloaded custom ROM Xperia ultimate HD 3.0.2 and installed using cwm reboot recovery.
10. Reinstalled my old applications from google play store and restored data from Titanium backup.
Flashing ftf doesnt require root or unlocked BL. you just need correct drivers and latest flashtool.
But if you have unlocked BL, then via fastboot flash any custom kernel which have CWM preinstalled. then flash SuperUser.zip via CWM. you'll be rooted.
i did get this to flash [boof KERNEL] WITH CWM AND ROOT FOR MT11i BASED ON 4.0.2.A.0.62 FIRMWARE
and installed superuser via cwm
and put the zelly cream 2.5.2 rom in.
but when the phone start up, I just get the sony logo. Then it stops
then i found that zelly cream wants suave-kernel. but now im stuck on no wi-fi..
AW: big problem with flashing

Try to reboot your phone. Also look if suave requires extra WiFi modules to work. Mostly they can be flashed with cwm.

Nop sorry dint help. got suave-kernel-v6 on it now but i cant find any wifi modules..
At last it sorted. In my quest do make the rooting and flashing work i did over look one thing.
You need to
4. Wipe data/factory reset.
5. Wipe cache partition.
6. Wipe dalvic cache under advanced menu.
7. Wipe battery stats under advanced menu.
8. Format data under mount and storage menu.
9. Format system under mount and storage menu.
10. Format cache under mount and storage menu.
before you install the Rom :silly:
But now my wife wont kill me, becouse i played with her phone :victory:
Hello there,
I have recently attempted to install a custom ROM on my Xperia U . I rooted using bin4ry , then unlocked bootloader. Everything was fine up to that point. Then I tried to use RecoverX to install CWM. The tool said it was a success, but device could not boot into recovery. It looked like the tool did nothing. I then found a custom kernel by AOKP that had CWM Recovery in it. I flashed and got recovery , but stuck in bootloop. I recovered from this by flashing B.10 stock firmware on my Xperia U using flashtools. I am now looking for ways to install CWM recovery safely.
What's the best way to install CWM in my current situation?
What caused the bootloop I experienced(out of curiosity)?

AOKP is not stock rom..
so its kernel is also not based n stok rom...thats why you got bootloop...
just download kernel which is based on sock rom like trancsend kernek...or phantom...
if you have jb then experimenatal kernel will be best....
and use flashtool to flash kernel...it is the easiest way to flash kernel..
all this kernels are prerooted and has cwm 6.x.x recovery.....
you will get this kernels in devlopment section....
Thank you!
Got it working!
I started off by installing transcendence kernel for stock ROMs. That went flawlessly and so I was presented with CWM recovery(which I started by repeatedly pressing Vol- when the transcendence logo comes up). Went to look for a ROM and found MIUI v4 for Xperia U, followed the instructions and flashed with CWM recovery.Very beautiful ROM. I got all my files from the Xperia U Development section.
Thanks for your help and a big thank you to the developers who make this possible. highfive:

Most kernels nowadays have light notification or vibration or borh for the time you need to press the volume button for cwn, if yours does you only need to press it once within 3 seconds.
Hi All,
I am new to the forum and new to rooting. I did loads of reading and thought that I would give rooting a go on my Sony Xperia Z Ultra. After rooting, and doing dual boot install I downloaded Dirty Unicorns 4.4.4 and Gapps. Booted into recovery and flashed the two zip files. After booting up the rom, it keeps crashing and giving a systemui fail / crash message. So I cannot do anything with the rom because the message comes up a second after I close it.
Not only that, there is now no custom recovery on my phone. Has anyone else been in this situation or can anyone please let me know what I can do to either flash a custom recovery?
I have also tried connecting my phone to the Flashtool to flash the stock rom, however as soon as I connect my phone to my pc it boots the system up and doesnt allow me to go into flash / fastboot mode.
Please help!
Thanks,
RJ

Thanks! Didnt know where to post.
Recovery should be included in the ROM (I've not flashed it though to test)
press the vol. up key just after booting when the LED turns purple should do the trick.
Do you want to load another custom ROM [1] or go back to Stock Sony [2]?
[1] Download custom ROM, flash boot.img in fastboot, flash ROM from recovery with wipes
[2] Download a FTF and flashtool (http://flashtool.net), flash FTF - fully clean Sony system again

Can you clarify what you mean by "doing dual boot install", are you referring to the multirom mod or something else.
Did you unlock your bootloader?
Because I see no mention of that and when I flashed scrubbers port of kitkat via twrp it bricked my ultra and I had to buy a new one.......
