XXELLC Modem? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Where can I find a CWM flashable XXELLC Modem? I am able to find multiple other ones but not that one?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

The modem that came with XXELLC was XXELLA as far as I can work out, so in short, there isn't one

Ah, gotcha, for some reason I thought I had that before, guess I'll just have to try a different one as XXELLA isn't the greatest in my area. Thanks for the reply

In my XXELLA the baseband is BUELL1 - and after a few days i think it looks better in the status bar, but under settigs-akku i have a worse mobile signal.

The xxellc builds didn't come with any specific modem just download the latest cwm flashable zip for your location a good way to the find out would be to go to Sam firmware. Com and go to the firmware checker it should be able to tell you what the latest modem, csc, and pda it is. I know cause I had the same problem I have an Indian s3 with the xxellc build number, but after going to the firmware checker I figured out that my baseband is ddelk1.

Galaxy s2 Flashing firmware via odin

Hi guys.
When flashing firmware through odin, sometimes there are 3 files to be flashed, and in certain cases only one (pda). Why is that?? I flashed 2.3.4 android using odin with only one .tar file, but now for 2.3.5 there are three files. I live in austria, and I flashed the "official" austrian version. Whats the difference between those versions? I am on austrian tmobile, and i wouldnt like to loose the network settings? Can someone clear this mystery for me, since I am really confused?
Thank you guys in advance!!

hi,
when you have one file, it means it has all been packaged into one and you flash it under the PDA section of odin,
when you have the 3 seperate files you put them into their individual sections in odin.
- Don't select Re-Partition!
hope this helps
Thank you for your reply!
It is definately helping. But, what does it mean the firmware that i flashed is for austria? They released 2.3.4 for many countries... Why does it matter? Whats the difference between this one and firmwares for other countries?

Official Austrian version is Android 2.3.4 and the XXKI3 for Poland is Android 2.3.5.
So what will happen if I flash the polish version? I am talking about firmwares in general, even the 2.3.4... Why did they separate it that way? Isnt it pretty much the same for all the countries?

dude,VERY IMPORTANT WARNING what "intratech" has given you.Do not select re-partition unless you are using a pit file. You are not so DO NOT tick this box or you will brick your phone.
Ya i figured that from all those different flashing guides... Thanks though... Do u maybe have an answer to my question about android version for different countries? Would it make any difference if I installed the polish 2.3.5 version on my austrian galaxy s2?

So, is flashing the polish version going to mess up my internet over network? Is it going to delete my network settings?

So can I just flash the android version (PDA), and the baseband (Phone), without flashing the CSC?

Yes if you want just flash firmware without CSC or change CSC after .
Or look in that thread for a multi csc or Frankenstein rom to fit .

[Q] Do i need Modem Flash

Updated with New_Bootloader_GT-I9100_OXA_I9100XXKI3_I9100XXKI3_I9100OXAKI3.tar Odin / PDA, i didnt update modem or see any other of packages for PIT, PHONE etc only PDA. Do i need to update these also as i noticed that mobile data is not stable at all but the rest of the phone seems fine.
You flashed a 1 file firmware which has all the parts in it in 1 (PDA, phone and csc). So you actually did flash a modem.
Check in settings/about. It is your baseband.
You can also flash a modem on its own if you like. If you have a T version then you will need a compatible modem.
Also check that your apn is correct. That could be causing data problems.

apn is correct, nottoo sure what it could be. what is a T version
T versions are just like the international version but require specific modems. Check the sticker under the battery. If its a T version it will have - Model: GT i9100T.

CM 10.1 I9100 custom modem?

I have this problem: with stock CM 10.1 installation files, sometimes people are not able to call me and I am not able to call others. I only can fix this by restarting my I9100 or turning on and off airplane mode.
I asked about this issue in this forum, and one man recommended to install custom modem. So I would like to ask, what kind of modem should I install in order to fix this problem?
Thanks.
You can try the app Getril, from the play store. However I'm not quite sure what is meant by a custom modem. There is a thread here that has modems matched to RILs but as yet non have been made for 4.2.1. I looked there this morning. All I can suggest is try a fully clean installation or roll back to your previous rom.
All the best

By modem I mean that file which you choose when you install custom rom through download mode in odin's "modem" section.
I see, all the modems I've ever flashed were in zip format done via CMW. Sorry I can't be of further assistance.

Yup. On xda, you'll find that majority prefer the use of CWM recovery over odin since it doesn't increase the binary counter and is much easier. Simply download any modem for your device (which will be in a .zip format) and flash from recovery.
Remember that modems are not rom or android version specific. A gingerbread modem can be used with a jellybean rom.

By custom modem i thought he was referring to the modified modem/ril zip files that are better than those supplied by the Getril app. In that thread it states not use GB or ICS files with JB roms. Thread attached for your reference http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31416701

Before the release of the leak (XXLSJ), many were on cm10 (4.1.2) with older modems/rils, usually those of ICS. It does work, but maybe its not so optimised to work on JB? I dunno, I'm not that much of a technical expert...

Flashing stockrom from a different country?

Hello, I would like to ask something.
I knew that recently Samsung has released 4.3 update for Samsung Galaxy SIII International Version. The 4.3 update hasn't reach my country yet. I would like to know is it possible for me to flash another country's official frimware? Is there any negative effects?
Meanwhile, if I flash the latest stock rom back to my phone, will it be unrooted?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Yes, you can flash a rom from another country -which includes a modem for another country. If the modem is unsuitable you will lose signal strength or even all connection.
Of course if you flash an unrooted stock rom then your phone will be unrooted, that's the whole point.
Unless you are confident in flashing modems and kernels I would not advise using 4.3 yet -it isn't reliable unless you can replace both.
Thanks for the quick reply
In that case, is it possible to flash just the ROM without the modem/baseband? (SamMobile ROMs come with seperate PDA, Modem)
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
If your current baseband is EMGx or later then yes, you can flash just the rom.
Alright.
Thanks for your help

Stock 4.3 needed

Totally stock 4.3 need for GT-i9300 iv searched sammobile but there are so many I'm unsure, I'm in the UK and my device is unlocked, my problem no matter what I flash I'm getting no signal, imei and serial number intact and so is baseband thanks in advance
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
Try the patched kernel and modem thread, if signal is restored with both flashed then you have issues in your efs folder.
Hey just looked but its pretty confusing to me, I have efs backup but no access to computer, was planning on flashing stock through mobile Odin
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Free mobile app
In that case just flash the latest firmware, best do a full wipe including internal storage and preload first. Use Odin on a pc, mobile Odin won't flash all the partitions so you'll end up with some leftovers which might be the source of your problem.
