hi guys,
I just installed CM10 on my note 2..
therefore there is no more SNote..
is there any apps that i can use in place of SNote?..
tried Evernote but somehow i couldn't draw..
Use "amazing note" from the play store. It has almost all the things in Snote

Try write in play store it is my favorite

the ASUS SuperNote works well on the GN2. ASUS includes it on the Transformer tablets. Somewhere on XDA, someone posted the APK. The Spen worked on it, but didn't have all the bells and whistles for it like SNote. Worth a try.
install supernote..
great app..
much better than write and amazing note..
thanks
Papyrus is by far the best I've tried. Even on tw I prefer it

any of those you are telling are the best, have function from SNOTE like:
- shape recognition
- function recognition and wolframalpha connectivity?
i'm looking for similar app for NOTE 1
I've tried at least a dozen note apps and snote is always my favorite. It's simple yet packs great features that can't be matched.
- has a mini note mode for taking notes while in another app.
- had built in cloud backup.
- can sync with evernote.
- has shape recognition.
- compatible with multi window feature.
- can record and play back your note (great for drawings).
- has multiple templates built in.
- allows the insertion of just about anything. .. photos, videos, clip art, etc.
- scrolls when you reach the end of the page (without having to use your fingers).
- has multiple widgets.
- can be activated in the phone app or automatically when the spen leaves the silo.
- and more!
This is the first device I've used where the stock apps are better than third party apps (keyboard, camera app, snotes)

I think the OP was looking for alternatives to S-Note as he can't run S-Note, rather than an explanation of why S-Note (that he can't use) is so great

True, but he's only missing it because of the rom he's using, not because his device can't run it. Therefore, they are better off getting snote back instead of looking for inferior alternatives
Edit: damn, I just realized that snote needs the touch wiz framework to operate, so there is no way to use it on CM10... That's a bummer
Yeah exactly. I haven't found an alternative to Snote that does it all in one since switching to CM10, using a combination of 2-3 apps instead.

Let me start by saying, i'm running stock untouched, unrooted, i turned it on and installed apps from the market, version of Gt10.1. It is the 32Gb version and came with 3.1 on it.
I've had my Gt10.1 for almost a week now and I must say that I'm stunned at the frequency of FC errors from various apps. I mean even my "Samsung Account" force closes after each restart.
Anyone else noticed that the screen isn't calibrated correctly. Seems I have to touch to the right of what I intend to select. This is particularly noticeable when selecting text in the browser or in text editors such as this app.
Should I reset to factory?
A lot of apps that work just find on my Epic4G are unstable or not available ... like where is facebook???? And how come nearly every game is either buggy or not available... EA games are just unsupported?
Is there a place anywhere that filters the marketplace by supported os version ? I.e. what is proven to work on HC 3.1

Facebook has been pulled from the tablet market for a while.
The samsung force close is on every tablet I think after reboot
I'd try resetting and see if that helps with the force closes and the screen inaccuracy. Maybe try not loading every app you had before. If that doesn't work, take it back to where you bought it and see if you can get an exchange.
Yeah its disgracefull that samsung have released the tab with so many bugs. Im writing this now on my tab and the text cant even keep up with my typing...the whole gt 10.1 is an unpleasant experience, the amount of force closes is staggering and unaceptable. theres no filterin the market to show only tab apps, it gives off a high pitch noise after every selection from the speakers, theres no predictive text input, the video play back its utter crap, why dont the home buttons auto hide to give more screen space, reading books is awfull due to each page being out of focus for a split second before being displayed properly. Theres people with dust under the screen, oh and the batteru life is in my opinion well below stated. and last but definately not least yeah it does flash in websites but not 100% some sites work and some are awfull,,,,

I feel for u. I've resolved the laggy keyboard by sticking with either the Android keyboard or Thumb keyboard. Both perform excellently. My experience has been that hidden home buttons seem to be a per app behavior. Example. Kindle app does it beautifully. I also have not experienced the out of focus issue. The video / screen rendering is unparalleled. Ive only experienced poor battery stats when I'm streaming from a weak wifi connection.. like being tethered to my phone running 3g 3bars or less.

-There is a problem with the way the stock browser handles text selection in web fields, it's probably related to some of the JavaScript problems the browser has. Until it gets patched a workaround is to use the Opera web browser.
-There are a few lists that people have compiled of HC optimized apps and games: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032381
@richie_jones:
-Turn off audible selection under settings>sound
-The default Samsung keyboard has XT9 predictive text, but you have to go into settings to enable it first. There are also numerous alternative keyboards to use if you don't like that keyboard.
-Video playback is very good on the tab. But like every tablet on the market you should convert your video to mp4 first for optimum results, or use an alternate video player such as MoboPlayer, Rock Player, Vplayer etc. If you don't know how to covert video files then check this thread for some simple instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1060825

Yeah I believe the samsung force close is caused by an authentication issue on the samsung account. I looked in log with aLogCat after a force close (they always come at boot and always twice) and there was an exception logged from the samsung account app.
This happens when connected to a wifi network and also when not connected. Whatever causes it to bw unable to authenticate, the Samsung Account app certainly doesnt handle that condition well.
And finally, you think Samsung would have caught this one....
I took my Tab 10.1 back and got a Tab 7" instead. Honeycomb has a long way to go really, and all the issues the OP had I can attest to. Hardware was nice, slim and tight but given the software issues I couldn't justify the $500 tag when a 7" tab was going for $200 brand new. Very happy with my decision.

I reset to default and everything works perfectly now... the text SLOWNESS is limited to the default browser app.. I use either Opera or Dolphin now.
My only gripe now is with Samsungs advertisement or shall I say FALSE advertisement... this is not the tab they advertise. It does not have touchwiz, mini apps or Media Hub support

Smooth it definitely is not"..."
no lag with he screens. Keyboard lag yes. Otherwise its running nice. It is a leaked tw rom that has been modified. I expect a custom rom based on the official release in a couple days.
I installed the leak version of Flipboard on my TP, and it is working very well.

Been running it since the day of was leaked & it works fine all in all other than the huge annoying screen size reminder at each start up since it is not tablet optimized
Whats the big deal about it? It's a rss reader with a flip animation.
Android version is "OK" my Ipad one still way better. then the fact that it only stays in portrait mode sucks. flipboard on Android is a little too late to the party. Google currents already has it beat by far and is more polished and has more features. I have flipboard installed but I'm sticking with Google Currents. It has flipboard for Android beat across the board.

It's actually much more then a RSS reader.... it automagically renders content or links from Facebook, Twitter and other sources into a beautiful layout, and let's you comment and share right from the app.
It is beautiful also on the Prime!

Flipboard wins for content and aesthetics IMO - content being the most important to me. Currents does do a better job of formatting articles once you click on them.

clipboard for android only being able to be used in portrait mode kills it for me. I'd say Google currents has better content. plus flipboard pictures look all blurry. still need more polishing. once they add landscape support. ill check it out more. but Google currents has more articles THST show for each one you pull up. I mean real site or magazine articles. not tweeter feeds n such.
The issue of content is pretty individual depending on one's areas of interest. For instance flipboard has several running magazines whereas currents had none.

screen orientation
For the screen orientation issue, there is an application that works really fine :

Thank you for posting this. It is running great on my Gnex and TFP.
So far I love this app. It has quickly replaced Pulse for me.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Considering this is a app taken from a phone and this version is designed to run on a small screen, it runs ok. I wont compare it to Currents yet until we get a tablet version of flipboard. The tablet version of this app more than give Currents a run for its money.
The stock gallery app is.... garbage IMO. Its constantly reordering my images to some arbitary order instead of by name (very annoying because i have pages of documents scanned and named by page number), just overall it feels rather clumsy, it doesnt animate gif files, no respect for .nomedia, etc.
Yeah, technically this is a question but here goes: What gallery applications do you use? If you could rip the gallery app from any device which would you choose and why?
Personally, im thinking of trying to rip the gallery app from the S2 or the galaxy tab, i know the S2 works well with gif files and thus far has not given me the amount of pain the Asus one has.
what do you think?
only thing I hate is that it won't allow you to rename files in there. so i use Asus file manager to rename. for the pictures or whatever you don't want shown, Quick pic works perfectly to hide whatever you don't want shown. I noticed GIF. don't animate in there also. they do in quickpic. but that's not a big deal for me. Other than that, I actually like the gallery app. its way better than my Ipad stock gallery app. I haven't came across another gallery only app. I'd be up for trying one. as long as its one that doesn't need to make duplicate copies to fill up its own gallery.

+1 on quickpic, you can do so much with it.
put folders the way you like them, move pics around easy and it makes any pic you look at nice and big.
i will never use anything else and ive tried a few.
I also use QuickPic. It is the best gallery app on Android, hands down. Not only is it super fast and responsive, but it is rock solid and has tons of file management and editing options that don't exist inside of the stock Gallery app.

+1 on quickpic - however has anyone used the gallery app on MIUI 4??
I used it on my old desire hd, it was pretty nice!
Gave quickpix a try, it does everything i need. Thanks for the suggestions everyone!
I've tried everything : flashing Honeycomb, CM9, AOKP and now official 4.0.4. Never had timeline on my SGT 10.1
The facebook app looks like crap in my SGT 10.1 , I cannot use it in landscape mode because the photos in the news feed are half showed and of course no timeline.
on my SGS 2 the app is working fine : timeline, landscape and portrait are switching just fine. So please please how can I fix this?

Badger Facebook to make the a tablet version of the app. They do on iOS. The current app just wont do it, youre better off going to http://m.facebook.com in a browser for the time being.

So everyone with Galaxy Tabs has this stupid version of facebook?
Yes. Some idiot at Facebook decided to give the finger to Android tablet owners and remove the previous optimization. It's formatted for phones only now which it why it looks like garbage. Use the website. It works just fine.
No full screen photos in website mode, and also a little bit slow than the Facebook app. Those Facebook stupid people shouldn't breathe

Friendcaster has an awesome UI and I like it, but it doesn't pick up all my friends' posts. Apparently if they have set their privacy settings to block 3rd party apps, Friendcaster can't recognize any of their posts.
I still go back to the browser version. I was using the regular FB page through the browser but it was SOOOOOO slow. The mobile page is much better. Maybe some day they will come out with a tablet app...

I've tried the 1.9.0 the 1.9.2 , today I've updated to the latest 1.9.8 Same old stupid interface.
Sadly I have minimal to zero knowledge about how to modify .apk`s but I think if we could somehow ``tell`` to the facebook app that is not running on a tablet but let's say on a galaxy nexus or s2, s3 (you name it) this should do the trick. So, how to mod facebook to ``think`` that is running on a phone not a tablet?
it is a TERRIBLE app
In my household there is a Galaxy Tab 10.1 and an ASUS Transformer Prime. The Facebook app looks just fine on the ASUS, as if it's been optimized, but I get the same result you do when using the Tab. It's REALLY frustrating, and will hopefully get resolved if enough of us pester the app maker. I've left an updated review for each iteration, and I see TONS of Tab owners complaining about the app in the reviews.
After a quick search I've found that if you change the build.prop to other tab ( or phone ) the facebook app might work. The problems are : I don't know how to that. Will this have an impact on the installed apps?.
Timelines seem to be working now. Fb must of changed the code on their end. Can only view in portrait mode really, its doesnt scale right in landscape. At least you can access peoples photos, about etc tabs now too.

Edit: and its gone back again. No more timelines.!

I'm after the original gallary app from the Nexus device for the Note 2, because Samsung's version is horrible, it's ultra choppy, it's worse than a HTC Hero, especially because I'm using Picasa, next to it I have my Nexus 4 side by side, everything is instant, scrolling, loading thumbnails and loading the images, just as fast as offline in the nexus version of the gallery app.
Even offline photos in the sammy version are choppy, you don't even want to bother trying to pinch to zoom, and of course this is all assuming you can even get the app to work, it usually freezes half way through a swipe, showing half of 2 images and only fix is a restart of the phone.
Samsung really screwed up some things on their OS, it's generally pretty slow all over, people said how fast this phone is, My S2 performs just the same, and vastly faster in the gallery and of course it's software which is to blame as I did put CM10.1 on my Note 2, which made is just as fast as the nexus, maybe even a bit faster, but then you lose the S Pen, camera app, multiview, etc...
I can live with the Lagwhiz, but I'd like a nice gallary app, I tried some 3rd party ones, which load just as fast as the original android one on the Nexus, but they don't load Picasa files and doesn't look as nice as the original gallery app from Nexus 4.
I found this, which is very fast and looks like JB Gallery, but no online photos from Picasa
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.moblynx.galleryics&feature=search_result
Oh yea in addition to be slow or freeze, much of the time it won't even show anything, you open gallery and it's just all black other than the top bar... Samsung really screwed it up.
If u can find the 4.2 cam zip and flash it the gallery comes with it
