USB Symbol after use tpdebrick
Hi:
My touchpad was working fine, after turn it off and after vibrate to turn it OFF suddenlly appear the USB on screen. To erase it, I did a reset with power bottom and home button and turn that off. Now, after trying more than. 3 times with J C Sullins tpdebrick, go ALL DOME but just appear the USB symbol on screen, from there I have used webOS doctor and after finish, it say can not reboot and again, the USB Symbol on screen.
Any idea to work with this?
Thanks for all help.
Does any one know if this script can be run via mac terminal

One of my touchpad is 100% dead. It couldn't even show anything on screen. not sure if this can save it...
64 GB tpdebrick??
I used the TP Debrick on my 64 GB Touchpad. I notice that the process runs "ebr32.bin", "mbr32.bin". The contents of tpdebrick have what looks to be files specific for 16 gb, 32 gb and 64 gb. I have run the command correctly for a 64 gb version but I think there is a possible programming error since it executes the 32gb version of ebr and mbr.
The process went all the way through and ended in "All Done" but I still cant revive this thing
Just an assumption based on what I have seen, can anyone correct me or look into this?
Unbricked one touchpad with this. Awesome. Please donate.

Hey Davo89, you figure yours out? My 64GB is bricked as well. I used the debricker, and I can't get past 8% on the webOS. I obviously need to re-do the partitions, but can find no info on how to do this for a 64GB.

No, mine is still bricked, I think the TPdebrick program is meant to work on the 64, but I am pretty sure when the script runs it is referencing the 32 gb files.
I have tried everything I could find, now the damn thing wont take a charge.
Hopefuly jscullins sees these comments and looks into the code for us.
I check here all the time to see if anyone knows an answer. Do me a favor and let me know if you figure yours out. Good luck

Just wondering if anyone can do a complete backup of their device and upload it somewhere like Dropbox. My Internal SD has been formatted incorrectly and I can't get it back correctly. My touchscreen is dead and I only know people with Bell Atrix devices.
If anyone could do this huge favor it'd be greatly appreciated!! Need a complete backup and then I'd use Tenfar's modified recovery to try booting it. Thanks in advance.
Use the 'Flash SBF' guide in the Dev forum. That will get you back to stock.

Thank you but that's not working. Hoping to get someone actual backed up recovery to see if that corrects the partitioning in the internal storage. Tried a million ways to flash and partition things.
Going to try doing some more work in an actual Linux environment after work today. I'll try seeing if I can manually format and partition it (getting random daemon errors because my PC is a bit retarded).

Worst case scenario, just format any SD cards in the phone and follow the guide that link12245 posted... that should work. If you're having issues using RSDlite in windows, try using it on the linux system... you'll find it to be a lot more compliant.

Yeah, I've tried that many times already. I'm thinking that doing this in a Linux environment will be more forgiving. Tenfar has graciously been helping me and I'm disappointed that I'm unable to follow his steps.
If I understand correctly I need to do this command in ADB: mkfs.vfat /dev/block/mmc0p18, as well as newfs_msdos -F 32 -S 512 -L MB860 -c 64 -u 16 /dev/block/mmcblk0p18 which should get it running smoothly.
At least I'm becoming a lot more comfortable with Linux commands. Actually thinking of dual booting Ubunto on our home computer once the wife isn't so pissed. Stayed up until 6am for two nights trying to fix this. If it weren't my birthday on Saturday she'd castrate me
Thanks for the help, guys.
Want to root but don't have a microsd card reader? Is the 8 failed boot trick leaving you tired and bloated? Have you had nightmares of Winimage drinking all your beer and stealing your car?
Help is on the way.
This pile of utilities, images, and scripts will boot your Nook into CWM recovery entirely over USB. Your eMMC can be trashed and SD card missing, but you can still get into recovery. This is kinda rough, and Linux only for now, but a Windows version is in the works.
Need:
-PC running Linux (x86 or x86-64 with 32 bit compatibility libs)
-Nook Color plugged in w/ USB
-this archive unpacked: nc-usb-recovery-0.1.tar.bz2
Do:
-turn off NC
-sudo ./booty
-turn on NC
-wait
This is awesome, gonna try it but I'm sure it will help people out. Now just make an android os boot from computer
Awesome work!
I would love to make something like unrEVOed's GUI for simple rooting/cm7 installations.
Does this just grab a kernel + ramdisk from usb? Any chance of any larger storage? (or use adb + /media?)
nice idea. Im pretty sure it will help other. It would have helped me if it was out about 5 months ago...

It doesn't really matter what you send since after the kernel gets booted it doesn't matter how it and the initrd got loaded into memory. Ultimately we're running almost the same u-boot as we do off of mmc media and booting using almost the same boot scripts.
In this case, I'm sending CWM as my payload. CWM lets you share out /sdcard over usb, which isn't the most convenient way to make a "one click" solution. You could pretty easily hack up CWM to look to the initrd for one or more update files. Or like you said, use adb. You could even replace the kernel/ramdisk payload with one of the *nooters for a simple stock root.

Any chance of this getting updated to a newer cwm/twrp version?

The error seems to be "unexpected 2ndstage response". A few things about my Nook; first tried it registered and than I did the reset.., same thing. Version 1.4.2. Thanks ahead of time for any assistance!
You have to have it off and plugged in and then hit power about 3 seconds after it says "waiting for device." I also have never tried it with the stock boot loader so that might be the problem.
Sent from my 2013 Kindle Fire HD with Tapatalk
Thanks for the input, will try that later on. When you say stock boot loader, you mean from the factory as is? It was my impression this was intended to avoid using a SD to root. Is there something else that I need to do before this method?

So I posted this already overhere -> HERE but its in the wrong forum, and I quickly saw the topic go to the back of the board ...
Seeing how it really should have been here, I'll try again.
Just a quick recap:
I'm trying to port the Honeycomb 3.1 SDK to my Archos 7HTv2. I messed with the boot.img and system.img from the SDK and put it in my update.img. I tried to flash it, and it works for a little, then it complains about running out of space.
Code:
Writing KERNEL:...
Checking KERNEL:...
Writing BOOT:...
Checking BOOT:...
Writing SYSTEM:...
E:Write failed(No space left on device)
E:Failure at line 16:
write_image PACKAGE:system SYSTEM:
Update failed, please reboot and update again!
The system.img for the HC rom is ~112mbs, the total update.img is ~123mbs
The system.img for the stock rom is ~51mbs the total update.img is ~54mbs
The stock system is 200mbs, so it should work. I don't really know where to go from here. I'll keep messing with it but I'd like a point in the right direction. I changed the partition information in the HWDEF and PARAMETER file, and got the same error. More info what I did in the link.
BTW i know that it may not boot, but now I just want it to flash.
Found some stuff about custom partition layouts Here & Here so checking it out. Though not really sure if this is the problem or not.
This has been reported at http://code.google.com/p/cmtouchpad/issues/detail?id=436&start=100.
In order to fix this, reboot your touchpad into webOS. Fire up novacom on your computer, and run the following:
Code:
umount /dev/store/media
fsck.vfat -vy /dev/store/media
The issue is due to the Android fsck not working correctly, so it's not able to fix filesystem issues. Once you run the above and reboot to CM7, the sdcard should no longer remount as readonly.
This helped alot thanks.
My touchpad seems to be in read only mode. Not able to webos doctor properly because of it. Cant reinstall cyanogenmod either. I have access to webos recovery and clockwork mod. Any command to get write access back?
Used novaterm for commands
Noob Question
Hi, I'm really new at this and I'm having the same problem stated above. I was able to load CM7, Alpha 2 on my Touchpad and all seemd well until I started downloading apps. Now, SD storage is full yet seeing plenty of storage left under settings. Could you please give step-by-step instructions for the fix above? For instance, do I load webOS then go into USB mode or do I go into USB mode during the webOS reboot using the volume up button? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Here's what you do:
If you installed the novacomd drivers which you should have to get preware going then do the following.
1. Hook up your touchpad to the pc, and boot it up to web os. Don't mount the usb drive just leave it alone.
2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Palm, Inc\terminal and double click novaterm the windows batch file. The icon will look like two cogs.
3. In the new window select file connect.
Type fsck.vfat -vy /dev/store/media and hit enter.
You're done. exit the screen and restart into cm7, everything should be back to normal now.
I keep getting an error when double clicking novaterm. It will open up a terminal window and an error message saying "javaw" on the top with the following text: "Windows cannot find 'javaw'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."
Any help is appreciated!
It's because you have installed a wrong version of Java (same problem for me, I installed a x86 version and i've got a x64).
So uninstall it completely
If you have a x64, install the right version of java SE Development kit
And everything would work great ! (worked for me)
Thanks! That allowed me into get into novaterm. And the fix works!!!
Hi,
hope this is the right place to post but I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 and when trying to enter the command via novacom I receive the following error:
Code:
bad or error response from other side: 'err -1 bad command string'
the novacom drivers are corectly installed (I managed to flash CM onto the touchpad with the ACMEinstaller) and I can see the touchpad when typing the following command:
Code:
novacom -l
I'm sure this is down to my inexperience with using novacom rather then the drivers etc. Can anyone help?
Thanks

novacomd should be running (check it ps -ef | grep novacom).
You want to start novaterm (assuming novacomd is already running) and enter the command there. (Not as a command line argument to novacom).
So, it should look something like this:
Code:
$ ps -ef | grep novacomd
root 8331 1 0 13:37 ? 00:00:00 /opt/Palm/novacom/novacomd
$ novaterm

Anyone can help?
Just tried this fix on Alpha 3, after SD card said it was unmounted. I booted onto Web OS, connected to PC. Hit cancel when it asked me to turn on USB mode. Navigated to Crogram Files / Palm.Inc/ Novacom/ Novaterm. Ran Novaterm, typed in the commands as spelled out here, also tried copy pasting the command to make sure it wasn't spelling or caps that was the issue, it did its thing. Unplugged, rebooted to CM 7, and nothing, still says SD card was removed, please mount a new one. Can anyone help?
Oh yeah, even more troubling, now when the TP goes to sleep it fails to come back. The only way to bring it back is to reboot.

Sorry to say but sounds like the clusters are all messed up. Only way I got around this was in webOS secure wipe all. The most secure method and it will redo all the partitions. Takes a couple hours and you will lose all data but after that, I was back in business.

i did a regular wipe and it cured my sd card problems.
I am attempting the fix as well. When I attempt to run Novaterm, I get the message: "Could not find the main class: de/mud/jta/Main. Program will exit" under Java Virtual Machine Launcher.
I'm running 32bit Vista.
Any help appreciated!
Does the secure WebOS wipe remove CM7 as well? Do you need to reinstall CM7 after? If so, how does it correct the SD Card Read Only problem?
I am running CM7 Alpha 3 (upgraded using Clockwork Mod) and I can't download anything to my Touchpad. Says "SD Card Full" while viewing "Storage" under Settings says I have over 25G free. CM7 won't download, save or play any Audio/Video or other files.
I tried the fix mentioned above, but got message: "Could not find the main class: de/mud/jta/Main. Program will exit". I have deleted and reinstalled Java and get the same message. 32Bit Vista OS on desktop.
Any Ideas?? Many thanks.
After this command (fsck.vfat -vy /dev/store/media) i get
Reclaiming unconnected clusters.
Any ideas how to fix this?
I just installed the 3.5 update to both a 32gb and 16gb which had been running 3.0.
The end result is that both machines now state that the sd card is not mounted. Should I try the above fixes on 3.5 or is the suggested fix only for 2.1?
Hey guys, there's a ton of confusion going on because of partition tables and what not. The Galaxy Player 4.0 uses a BML partition table. The Galaxy Player 5.0 uses a MMC block partition table. I ran into problems with 8g versus 16g partition tables because the 8gig won't work on the 16gig and vice versa. We need a master list of PIT files. This is that master list.
International is the standard version. Because of copyright problems, US versions may be different.
PARTITION TABLES
Galaxy player 4.0 16gig thanks some korean site.
Galaxy Player 4.0 US 8gig thanks hyperrunner
Galaxy Player 4.0 International 8gig thanks zaclimon
Galaxy Player 5.0 16gig thanks ishish9
Galaxy Player 5.0 US 8gig thanks redpirate8
Galaxy Player 5.0 International 8gig thanks aillez
Please post your partition table and I will link it in the above. If you have one which is not in the list, let me know.
How to obtain your partition table
Download Heimdall Suite here: http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/
Open "heimdall-frontend"
if you encounter errors in windows, you need to install the zadig libusb driver. Remember to "show all" from the menu in the program.
Put your device in Download mode
Click the Utilities tab
select an output filename. The file should always end with a "pit" I'd recommend something descriptive. eg..
GalaxyPlayer4.0-16G.pit, or G70-GalaxyPlayer5.0-8gig.pit
upload that file to http://mediafire.com
I recommend Mediafire because they have no distracting adds, no 50 second wait time, no signup, and everything is straight forward as opposed to 99% of the other file hosting sites.
post the mediafire link here in the forum
Ok, first, I don't think there are 16gb versions, other than maybe one for korea?
Second, The main issue here is the international version vs. the U.S. version, I believe there is quite a bit of difference in the firmwares of these versions, so you should probably have sections for "U.S. 4.0, U.S 5.0, International 4.0, International 5.0"
You might get more positive results that way
I am needing the 4.0 U.S Pit, btw, so thank you for creating this thread!
Edit: also, didn't you say in your other thread that heindmall doesn't work with these?
Here you go,

You need to get the Heimdall partition. I observed the same behavior before. and I was thinking it was a fluke.. It looks like on this device the heimdall dump will set the partitions, a bml dump wont.
I'll remove that and we're back at square one.
We could really use some participation here. You'll be thankful if you brick your device. Currently there are no recovery options... This is part of creating the first one ever.
Yeah i have been trying that but Heindall says that libusb error 13 for some reason i would get it but i cant since the error. Do you got a solution for it. I would do it but i cant get pass that error? I've tried installing libusb.

Try making sure you have the samsung usb drivers installed; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956
and usb debugging enabled in /settings/applications/development. After that is enabled, just plug it into the pc, don't select connect to computer.
All that is installed, just cant seem to connect ive checked everything.
You are going into download mode, correct?
Edit: Do you have the proper package for your os?
Adamoutler, have any advice?
Edit2: Figured it out, go to "drivers" in the heindmall file, run the zadig.exe, select "list all devices" in options, then install "Samsung composite USB".
Worked for me!
Edit 3 : Thanks i got it, i guess win was'nt detecting it.

EDIT:
Nevermind it doesn't work. DO NOT FLASH THIS PIT FILE. Now I get a bunch of E: failed to mount errors.
Now I'm bricked too. Need a valid PIT file to flash back to stock.
WAIT, ive seen some videos in which you flash it. Most of them the md5 or tar file contains more stuff other than factoryfs.rfs and zImage.
Or is that ok since its not a phone if it is not or there is a problem just tell me and give me the commands to retrieve these needed files and i will make a new Firmware.
EDIT 2 Look im trying my best i can. I have never used odin or kernal and all the other files md5 or commands so dont give me any crap. Ive been trying to help you guys from the start. Im trying to learn while doing this it is not simple. Other morons would not even get passed the commands on terminal. If you dont want my help well then you wont get it. Currently im the only one helping you guys. As i said in the post above me if you need any other files in the md5 just give me the commands and i will reupload them.
EDIT 3 NVM
Ok, I think I know what to do, but we should move to a new thread in "general" so we don't clutter up this thread
