For quite some time now my fascinate will not connect to the computer other than for charging (no mass storage, not showing up in device manager). I can't say how many times i've installed drivers, changed cords and computers, etc. Today it finally showed up in device manager for the first time in a long time but 'Samsung Android Composide ADB interface" and 'Android composite ADB interface" show errors. It says drivers are up to date (also I just downloaded them) but there is a code 10 error saying drivers won't load. Sorry if this is too similar to other topics but any help is appreciated. I've been dying to get to CM9. Running CM7 Kang with Glitch v13.1

just wipe data and flash cm9...no need to odin. alot of folks seems to be having usb issues with thier devices lately....could possibly need cleaned? Thats a common place for pocket lint and other debris to build up.
have you tried to update the drivers manually ?
you can choose a driver to install. Sometimes when it gets to a list of drivers and the hardware compatibility is checked it may only list one driver. If you un-check that it will give you more drivers to choose from.
If you cant find anything that works check to see if your phone is recognized in download mode.
and your sure you tried decent new cable ???
Thanks for the help. I tried your driver suggestion and it still doesn't connect. This is the fourth cable I've been on and still nothing. I can get into download mode but odin never recognizes the device. I did successfully flash CM9 though. So I guess I'm okay until I need to odin for some reason.
I'm having the same issue as well. Until the connection issue, I was thoroughly enjoying ICS connecting.......10X quicker than GB. I have 3 different cables, updated drivers, no yellow exclamation in device manager......and all my phone will do is charge via USB. No PC or phone changes at all, just stopped working. I'm on ICS with AOPK. Still trying different methods...
I think Droidstyle might be right. My dad couldn't get his fascinate to connect, so he took it to a Verizon store and they cleaned the port and it connected.

:good:
I tried giving it a little brush with a soft toothbrush and tried compressed air as well. No dice. Shouldn't I avoid taking it into verizon as they'll notice its clearly not stock (running aokp)? Or does that not really matter?
You should make a nandroid, then restore to stock. Make it look lived in, then take it to Verizon..
P.S. Sorry about taking a long time to respond, I am on vacation.
Without any computer connection at all how do I go about that?
And no worries. A late response is better than no response

Sorry. My brain must have still been on vacation... You might be able to disguise Superclean3 or TSM Resurrection as stock though, but make sure to use red CWM all and to flash the stock kernel immidiately after flashing.
I just tried the toothbrush method, dry at first. Then I attempted the toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol, no dice there either. Getting frustrated.....I need a beer!

Ok, just figured out mine was the USB hub the entire time. I have one built into my desk. I plugged the USB into my printer, and it connects. Hmmm, my stuff in this room went crazy during a bad storm a few weeks ago......guess it may have messed some stuff up.
Hope the OP finds his problem. Maybe try running the USB right into the back of your computer, instead of a wherever you have it running to now?
Hi all!
I'm hoping someone here can help me because I'm about to throw my phone out the window and I'd really rather not.
I have a rooted Nexus S with Cyanogen 7.1.0.1 and I'm trying to get it back to stock. This would be easy enough, if I follow the instructions here:
nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-hacks/how-to-unroot-nexus-s-i9020ti9020ai9023
but the problem is that my phone won't recognize that it's being plugged into my PC. Before anyone asks, I have tried reinstalling the drivers and I have tried different USB ports and USB cables. Nothing seems to work. I have also tried restoring to an old backup I did months ago when there was nothing on the phone and it still won't recognize it.
Sometimes, very randomly, the PC will recognize that I've plugged in a device but it will automatically say that the drivers could not be installed.
Any idea how I can get this working?
So I upgraded to Cyanogen 9.0.0 and while my phone is running much better now (thanks Cyanogen team!!!) I still can't get my phone or PC to recognize my phone being plugged in.
If anyone can think of a solution, please let me know.
I bought this Note 2 about a month ago and got unlocked and rooted pretty easy... So I'm Currently on liquid smooth v2.3 4.2.2 vrall4. I was attempting to flash back to stock but each time I connect phone to computer in download I get no "ID:COM" number showing connectivity with the device. My first smartphone was original Samsung Galaxy so I'm slightly familiar with this flash back to stock, too bad there is no one click recovery restore tool but anyways. I'm not sure what I did but I believe I have accidentally deleted a wrong folder. Phone still works perfectly except that it doesn't seem to want to flash ROMs from the Original Android Dev section of this phone's forum... such as Paranoid's 3.5x.
also it will not connect to computer as media device...only as camera. phone notifies me it is connecting as media device, but it does not appear in my computer. it won't even allow me to put zips on the internal storage.

I've noticed this problem also after the update. C3 seems to be the culprit. Flash back to a stock rooted 4.1.1 rom and set radios back. Install Kies (again) and then you can keep or uinstall kies. This worked for me. The 4.1.2 update for some reason will not play nice with the drivers. Will only let me connect as camera on both windows and Ubuntu 13.04. Thats what led me to down grade and try again.
Also, it seemed that my phone got "stuck" in PTP for some reason after all that. Once i got it to work again. I was able to connect back to Ubuntu 13.04 in MTP mode using a new 4.1.2 rom. (this for those trying to figure out how to get MTP to work on Linux boxes after update. Use a computer to set phone back to MTP, and Linux will recognize it again.) If windows jogs the phone to PTP, for some reason it will not go back until you fix that on windows. Not a science, just what i've experienced in the last 2 weeks.
each time I connect phone to computer using odin in download I get no "ID:COM" number showing connectivity with the device
Sounds to me that your drivers arent installed. Youll need to update your drivers on your computer. That is what I do if odin is not seeing my device.

ive only tried this 10 times so far and no worky
Hello, usually don't have much issues with this sort of thing as I have decent experience with this.
I'm stuck on this particular issue though as my phone is in a constant boot loop. I was planning on just reflashing a ROM on to the device, but in the bootloader or recovery my pc will not detect the device at all so I am unable to run fastboot or adb commands on it. I have tried this on 3 pc's(2 Windows 8.1 and 1 Windows 7).
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
Windows 8 & 8.1 will not work. I used the DNA toolkit on a Windows XP laptop to get my phone out of the bootloop (when you were using the Windows 7 computer, were you using the USB 2.0 port? It's been mentioned in many posts that USB 3.0 will not work). Don't use the drivers from HTC SYNC, the proper drivers are here on XDA (just Google it).

Yes it was on USB 2.0. Drivers won't do me any good if device manager won't even detect the device is plugged in to begin with. That is the issue is I have no way to flash a new ROM because I can't even get device manager to pickup that the device is plugged in on any computer.
Until I switched to a Windows XP computer, my phone wasn't recognized either, no matter how often I updated the drivers.

You can't update the drivers for a device though until it detects there is a device there. There shouldn't be any issue with Windows 7 being able to detect a DNA.
I never had an issue with this until now and now I'm just stuck in either a boot loop or going into recovery.
I would be willing to to try XP for the fun of it when I get an opportunity, but don't feel it is necessary.
If I do a factory reset from CWM Recovery I can get into Cyanogenmod and go through the initial setup steps. After that it sits at a black screen, but I can drag the notification drawer down and get into the settings. Only have a minute or two before it reboots back into a boot loop.
Surely there has to be some way to fix this...
I managed to get it to stay on. Here is what I did to transfer a new ROM over. Since all I could access on the phone was the settings I changed a locksceen slider to the Play Store and installed AirDroid. I then transferred the file over through AirDroid.
I am about to flash it now. If this installs fine and clears up the boot loop issue then I guess that issue is fixed, but that still doesn't solve the problem with my device not connecting to the PC through USB.
Okay I managed to finally get a new ROM to flash over after some issues with the ROM zip itself. It flashed and said updating apps 77/77 and restarted and its been sitting at the boot logo for 10 minutes.
Still never got it to detect USB connection on PC either.
I don't have a single clue what to do now. Am I just out of luck at this point?
Okay I know I have flooded this with messages, but I have Cyanogenmod 10.2.1 on there and it seems to be working fine. I can reboot and it goes back into Android without a boot loop from what I can tell.
USB still does not work even within Android though. Is there an issue with the hardware itself? It charges fine.

Is MTP checked or USB debugging enabled? If not you need to check them both
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium HD app
Yes both of them are checked.
Have you tried downloading pdanet that will reinstall adb asking with other drivers
Sent from my HTC6600LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes I have. Still should allow normal file transfer without it and also at the very least device manager should detect it. I think I am just out of luck on this. At least it can still charge.
On the Win 7 machine, are you sure that USB port is good? Sorry no one asked that simple question.
Also, have you tried cleaning your micro USB port?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Yes, like I said other devices work fine on PC and also have tried it on 4 different computers. I also cleaned the port.
NP, appreciate the response.
i have a sky elite 5.0LW with lollipop that wont boot past the splash screen. i have the boot.img, but i cant get the phone recognized thru windows or mac. when i connect to windows, it goes thru the process of installing drivers for it, so its recognized. but adb turns up nothing. ive read just about everything ive come across to get this to work. ive tried 6/7 cables, installed programs, installed drivers, used USBDEVIEW to delete drivers and then re-installing them. used different computers-windows and mac. im not real familiar with using mac for this. ive never had so much trouble with ADB. the phone wont go into bootloader thru the phone recovery options, it just re-starts the phone. im at a loss. im hoping someone with more experience with this issue can help me out. this has me frustrated and determined me at the same time!
