I've been trying to tether my Kindle Fire to Lumia 920, which is on Wind (unlocked from Rogers). I've searched high and low, and could not find any workable solutions this far. Am I missing something? do you guys have tethering working on Wind??
Incidentally, I was trying to download Access Point on Lumia, and this content is being blocked. Very strange.
try removing the sim card and try downloading it again.

I just got a LG thrive, Im using my post-paid sim card from a Inspire 4G in it. Im trying to get the wifi tether working. I tried using quick setting but it crashes the phone. I tried using the hot spot widget but it also crashes the phone. I also tried using a modified apn from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980591 it worked on my Inspire 4G, but it either says "There is a temporary network problem that prevents the enablement of mobile hotspots" or " Authentication was unsuccessful. To enable mobile hotspot on this device go to att.com/mywireless" I have been searching and trying to figure out this problem all afternoon. On th stores demo thrive I was able to get it working after two minutes and only one crash. I have already installed pdanet, not sure how well it works on this phone since I have yet to test it, but i would really like to get the wifi tether working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Someone has to know something...

Anyone working on getting it to work for LG-P506 (LG Thrive)? Or know of any methods to get it to act as a wireless hotspot? I've tried Quick Settings and it restarts the phone but haven't tried Easy Tether yet because I don't even know if it enables shared WiFi and uses a USB connection to share it.
I was able to down load easy tether from the market place when I took the sim out and went to the market on wifi. It wouldn't let me do it with the sim in. I haven't actually used the app yet because I usually use my iPad or galaxy and rarely use the laptop anymore. But it did work with the backflip and that phone is big time locked down.
USB tethering: Authentication was unsuccessful
I have the same problem. LG thrive says:
Authentication was unsuccessful
There is a temporary network problem that prevents the enblement of the Mobile hotspot function. Please retry later.
and it is the same error for USB tethering or portable Wifi hotspot
Have anybody solved this? Any sugestions?

Dear Members, I have searched and read several threads on this, but don't seem to find the exact answer I am looking for. I have an unlocked HTC Aria (AT&T Branded) currently running on Android 2.1. I am not particularly interested in changing the ROM as the phone does what I need (Calls, Messages, E-Mails, and Web Browsing). However I would like to also be able to do BlueTooth Tethering over to an Archos 70 IT tablet that I use for all the rest. I notice that the apps that would do this, all require ROOT. My question is, if I can ROOT my phone ONLY in order t be able to install any of these BT Tethering Apps? Do I still have to install a ROM, or will ROOTING not affect anything else?
I appreciate you comments and any suggestions that you might have.
Thank you very much.
No you can root and leave the stock rom in place.

Ok! So I rooted my device and installed WIFI Tethering. The program does start on my Aria and the wi-fi signal is picked up by my notebook, however it shows limited connectivity (basically no internet). Unless someone has any feedback, I would now assume that it is an issue of my phone not connecting to the network, however I have tried the web browser on my phone and it does work, I also tried BT Tethering but both devices will show "paired but not connected", and can't get passed this step, so any comments again will be much appreciated.
Thanks again,

Hello All,
I recently switched from an Android based phone to a Lumia 920. The phone is great so far except for one issue. I am unable to tether the phone to my playstation. I have no issues tethering other devices such as tablets and my desktop, but the playstation fails to connect and prompts me to check my LAN security settings before connectivity can be established. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I read some posts about carriers restricting thethering access. Don't know if that could be the cause. I haven't tried tethering yet, will do so later today and report back.
Have looked fairly thoroughly for about 2 days with no success.
I got the OTA update and realized too late that I've lost my wifi tether capability.
Currently, I have a stock Raze Maxx was using foxfi
I also have a Nook Tablet setup for dual boot via SD into cm7 (this is the device needing connectivity)
The Nook doesn’t have Bluetooth, and a USB option will not fit my needs so wifi is the only option.
Question:
Is there a way to accomplish this without rooting my moto?
I’ve checked for existing solutions, no luck. The only idea I’ve got is maybe if I can get my cm7 hosting a hotspot (without internet), then connect with my moto and then somehow access the internet that way.
Will this work?
If so, any suggestions of software to potentially use?
Hi folks i hope you can help,
Lately when i'm trying to access the internet on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) it keeps going to a blank web page and tells me that its unavailable because my phone is tethering. The problem is its not and hasn't been tethered to anything since i got it new. I've tried looking through the phone and tried numerous searches but i cant find anything i think would help me.
Has anybody else had this problem that could point me in the right direction ?
Thanks in advance folks
Wullie.
What have you tried?
You could do things like:
- Switch to airplane mode and back
- Enable tether and disable
- Reconfigure your wifi settings
- Reboot
