I have seen a lot of posts requesting the CRT-OFF function for the i605.
NOTE: THIS IS FOR FLASHING ON A STOCK ROM. IF YOU ALREADY HAVE MODS, THIS MAY SCREW THEM UP.
THIS WAS PUT HERE MORE FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES AND FOR IMPLEMENTING THIS INTO YOUR OWN MOD OR MOD PACK.
I WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR USERS WHO FLASH THIS WITHOUT CHECKING TO SEE WHAT IT WILL AFFECT.
Using a Tutorial, I got it working, but there is a weird timing issue.
It sometimes won't work if you turn the screen on and off rapidly. I have only tested it on a stock deodexed VRALJB ROM.
Reports below say it is working, so...
But I haven't had any negative side-effects other than it sometimes working and sometimes not when turning the screen on and off quickly.
I am in the process of making a flashable zip for the VRALL4 (after I eat).
UPDATED: VRALL4 is ready, I haven't tested it, but I used the same procedure that is universal (2013-02-09).
So, as long as your not sitting there clicking your screen on and off every two seconds, it works fine (for me it did).
Please give it a try, and if you have a problem, just go ahead and flash the REMOVE_OFF_CRT....
Any input or help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to get this working 100% for everyone.
This is more of a starting point/beta stage.
Anyone using this in their ROM, please give a shout-out to these guys
for creating the tutorials and helping me make this:
Dougi ------------------- for showing me where I needed to be.
sorg --------------------- for his tutorial.

f you turn the screen on and then off within a few seconds, the CRT wont work. It works if you give it at least 5 seconds. I have only tested it on a stock deodexed VRALJB ROM.
And sometimes it's just flaky.

That may not be exclusive to the this phone. I noticed this behavior occasionally on my Galaxy Nexus on stock/AOSP ROMs. It didn't do it consistently, but I would sometimes notice that the animation wouldn't activate shortly after waking the phone and even sometimes after using the phone for a while. So it may or may not be related, but I thought I'd mention it.

It acts like that sometimes on my device. I am running a stock deodexed VRALJB ROM and it does that evry so often. After I rebooted my device again, it was a lot better though.
.
First thanks for the work!
Having issues: I am running beans Stock Deodex(multiple mods) Baseband Version: I605VRALJB. Build#: JRO03C.I605VRALJB
I made sure and downloaded the correct version, flash went perfectly.
issue 1: it is rarely working for me, maybe one or two out of every ten attempts shows the CRT off Animation(I have rebooted as well)EDIT: Actually after further playing in maybe works once in 30 attempts....very rarely do I see the animation.
issue 2: flashing this broke my four-way reboot option. I assume it overwrote something in the theme I am running(which is where I got four-way reboot in the first place)

Yes it in services.jar and androidpolicy.jar. I'm running beans rom and it rewrote over those and a few things got a little messy but it definitely did work.

Thanks, yeah I figured. I actually would be thrilled to trade 4 way reboot for CRT Off but it just flat out refused to work for me.
OP: here is the ROM I am running if it helps you troubleshoot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044351
And I am running this theme with included mods:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052499
I went ahead and flashed my backup but will be happy to try again if you think it will work with this setup.
Again, many thanks for your efforts, glad it is working for others...I've always loved this mod.
You guys, always check what your flashing. Anytime you get something to flash, unzip it and take a look. See what is going to be modified.
If your are on a ROM that already has the android.policy.jar and services.jar modified, get these two files from your ROM, zip them together and upload them somewhere. Then send me a link and I'll patch them
Its that easy. Then I'll post em here and we will get a long list of working flashables to work with everyone's ROMs.

Thanks again for you work.

Remove Ongoing WiFi Notification & E911 Status Bar Icon Mods for Darkslide VRUAME7
Howdy XDA Community!
About:
Here is a small mod to remove to extremely annoying Ongoing"WiFi Notification on Darkslide's Slim-Stock VRUAME7
This will replace your stock framework-res.apk with a slightly modified version. As such, this could interfere with your other framework modifications so use caution. If you haven't made any framework modifications, you shouldn't have any trouble with this. I have tested it on three different devices all running Darkslide's VRUAME7.
Instructions:
THIS WILL NOT WORK FOR THOSE WHO TOOK THE OTA/OFFICIAL UPDATE!
YOU MUST HAVE ROOT & CUSTOM RECOVERY TO USE THIS!
YOU MUST BE ON A CUSTOM VRUAME7 ROM! (AFAIK Darkslide's is the only one available at this time)
1) Reboot into recovery (has been tested on CWM)
2) Make a Nandroid (ALWAYS!)
3) Wipe cache/dalvik
4) Flash the Mod (Remove_Ongoing_WiFi.zip)
5) Reboot
6) Profit!
I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. I can't stand Verizon's insistence on forcing an ongoing WiFi notification that takes up so much space. Ugh!
DOWNLOAD
Remove_Ongoing_WiFi.zip - 30.58 MB
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Remove E911 Status Bar Icon (Removes Gaps)
Here's a modded SystemUI.apk that will remove the massive E911 (GPS) Icon in the status bar (For ME7 ONLY!)
Same instructions as above - Flash in recovery and you're good to go!
See Thread Attachments to download the E911 Removal Mod!
7/30/13 - Updated mod to fix "black icon" issue (Rev. 2 ... my bad). The mod can be flashed over the original.
I'd like to thank:
Scrolser for providing the empty flashable zip
Darkslide for releasing the first VRUAME7 ROM
and the entire XDA Community for all the help and support they lend the development community!
Installed the zip and it worked perfectly, thanks
Thanks!

That's a good question ... As long as you're rooted, you could pull the framework-res.apk from the zip and push it to your /system/framework folder. This will cause the device to crash and reboot, but when it comes back on you should have the mod working. I've done this before myself, but never without the safety net of a custom recovery. Make sure there's a method for fixing soft-bricks on the stock VRUAME7 build before you give it a shot.

Yup, you're right about that. Looks like the test SystemUI.apk I was using (before I got it to finally work correctly) was used on accident. I couldn't handle the icon so I made it black until I could get the samli changes to stick, let me fix it right now. Will edit this post when it's up.

ALSO, before you flash .. change the SystemUI.odex to SystemUI.odex.bak and you should be able to avoid any issues caused by odex/deodex ... I'm planning on using Kuban to Odex my system once I have it the way I want it, so maybe I'll add an odex version when that happens.
Renamed SystemUI.odex to SystemUI.odex.bak. Flashed Rev. 2 and it worked!

Installation:
Install Smasher X
Go to recovery
(Don't tell me the rom didn't install, if you don't have the latest cwm recovery!)
Make a backup of your data(highly recommended)

This ROM has SERIOUS potential! Ridiculous fast and i'm still on stock kernel. everything is fluid, scrolling and transitioning flawlessly. I didn't like the stock launcher, as i've never used it before, and quite confusing so i switched to Nova..might even go with KK launcher. LOVE the themes to death. still poking around on it. ill come back with further updates soon
It says Gapps are included in download which I guess is why it's a pretty big download for an aosp rom (501mb).
Anybody try this yet?
Thanks in advance
Yes, I'm on it right now and have been for about 6 hours. I love it. Only big deal breaker is the no data which BTW OP I got data / getting data now randomly
And to everyone else here's my set up so far. Love the themes here

Well no data or intermittent data is a complete no go for me.
I'll check again when they have a fix for it.
Thanks for the response

It's a common issues with cm11.
I had to fix it for the s3.
Try using a different kernel.
Working on update now.
I will need testers for data.
I'll test, if you'd like.
Let me know
Thanks for your quick response

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I released anything for Android. I took a much needed break from everything for about 5 months. Well now I'm back and I'm making my home the Note 2 section
Now let me tell you first off, this ROM is absolutely nothing to go crazy over (hence the name). However, it will eventually grow into a pretty badass build by time the last update rolls around. So if you want to use this ROM, what I'm asking is that you take a journey with me. This ROM will be an adventure and I would like you all to go on that adventure with me. Follow me through every step of this ROM. Too many times nowadays, ROMs are used for about a maximum of 1 month before people get bored and move on to something else. That's why I started Mediocre ROM. I wanted to start with a completely clean slate, and then eventually add features in 1 by 1 (or a group of features here, group of features there). My point is that I want this ROM to have many updates, that way you, the user, are never bored. Also, if you have ANY suggestions, please post them!! I'm not saying they will all be implemented, but they will ALL be considered. So without further ado, let's get to the brass tax!

NOTE:
You must be on the MJ9 Firmware to flash this ROM!!
Credits will be added as more and more people contribute the features that get added into this ROM.

any chance of getting a non-safestrap version for the ones who haven't upgraded to 4.3 & locked bootloader?

I'll look into it. Shouldn't be too hard to do but since I'm locked and on 4.3 this build will have priority.

I kinda wanted to keep this stock Note 2 but I do love the Note 3 apps that everyone is putting in theirs so I might throw them in. I'm glad you like the idea. Haven't seen anyone else do something like this yet.

OK no problem it's your rom, I was just asking. I love them as well and since they have come out I haven't used a rom without them yet but either way I'll be trying this.. thanks again man
Download link and MD5 posted in the OP! Let's get this party started!
I must have got a bad download. I got an error after the flash and had to go back to Alliance. I'm going to try another download and try once more as I think this is one of the coolest rom concepts yet and want to be involved. Thank you for doing a rom just for safestrap users like me.

Unfortunately it happened again using the same link. After install I get a red FAILED ... so restored back to Alliance. I will try again once you check the upload. Thanks again and I can't wait to give this a whirl.

Lol no worries! I didn't find a different place to upload it yet. I'm going to try a couple places today though. It is definitely a bad upload though. Size of the file is 1.02GB and it only uploaded 801.1MB. I'll comment here though as soon as I get this uploaded. I have access to a FTP host now so I'll try that.
Disabled "home button wake" too. Going to start uploading after I make a few changes real quick.
Really sorry for taking so long everyone! I ran into some issues and will be posting something this week.
