I recently upgraded from a Motorola RAZR to the Samsung Galaxy Note II. So far I love it, but one thing I miss is the little row of arrow keys that the RAZR had at the top of its Swype keyboard.
Here is honestly the best screenshot I could find that shows the placement of these keys on the RAZR:

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Does anyone know how to enable these on the Galaxy Note II keyboard?
If I recall correctly, they didn't exist when I first got the RAZR, but they were added once I downloaded the OTA ICS update.
And yes, I am aware of the shortcut where you swipe right from the Swype key to the Symbol key, and it brings up the set of navigational keys. It's a nice option, but I'd prefer to have the arrow keys available all the time.
Apologies if this has been asked before, but searching revealed no answers. Thanks!
I miss those to feels like ive had them on all my previous phones.. I think since the screen is soo big that they figured its easier to just tap were you want instead of arrowing over lol

That's true, plus you can use the pen to hover/select the proper location. Still, I generally prefer to use my finger, and even with the larger screen it's sometimes difficult to select the desired cursor position.

Hello, Since i have an android device and tried some roms for this device (HTC One S)and its dissapointing to see that landscape mode is so lacking in the space that could have been used in messaging apps.
Its quite annoying (for me atleast) to have to withdraw my keyboard whilst typing something because the one i am texting with has sent something new.
I understand that this is not a place for requests, so my question is, is there any way to make messaging look like this (this image is not real)

and not like this..
Im not looking for a specific rom that allows this, im just looking for anything that makes this possible on any rom.
Thanks in advance!
Go keyboard does this, assuming you're willing to use it.
Also, is that the default ICS keyboard? I like the design.

Yeah it is the Stock ICS keyboard, its the best keyboard out there imo
And Thanks, i'll have a look into that Go Keyboard and see if i am willing to use it.
On a sidenote, isn't it kind of odd that this relies on what keyboard you use rather than using whatever keyboard you like and being able to do this ?
There are some of those keyboards where they divide on both sides, those may be something you want to look into
Hi all, might be a bit of an odd one this, but, i'll try to explain my issue.
I only got my S3 a few days ago, i've not rooted it yet so it's still on stock vodafone firmware.
The phone came with the following firmware

}
There was a notification for an software upgrade so i decided to go for it, upgraded to the following firmware/baseband...
Now, i noticed a couple of changes after the upgrade. 1, in my browser settings there is no longer a setting to adjust the brightness specifically for the browser itself. There was on the old firmware.
Ok, not too fussed about that one, the one that is bugging me though is when text messaging. When i got the phone, up until the firmware upgrade when texting i would press space bar, then if say i needed to insert a comma or question mark i would select the desired punctuation from the 'predictive text' area then when i began typing the next word, it would automatically shift the punctuation mark up close to the last word. very handy. Since the upgrade though however, now i press space bar, the punctuation marks appear in the 'predictive text' area i select the one i want, and i start typing again but it no longer reformats it so it's up close against the desired word! so i am left with some thing like this:
eg: Stupid text messaging ! instead of this, eg: Clever text messaging!
Is this the same for everybody else? it's very annoying! it worked so good before.... Is there a setting i need to change to get it back? theres not as far as i can see, but i might have missed it.
Hope somebody can help.
Steve
Nobody had this issue after an upgrade?
I posted this in the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 forum, but I think it may be a topic for Samsung users in general, maybe it´s getting more into their focus this way:
I´m sorry if this has been posted before - but I can´t stand the fact, that Samsung shows such a massive effort for software optimizations and special functions, which CLEARLY are pushing the Note III to the top of every smartphone list - while, at the same time, STILL messing around with the restricted grid system in TW.
How can ANYBODY (that keeps an eye on the smartphone market and on the success of alternative launchers) think that a 4x4 grid (- on such a big device with such a great resolution -) is a good idea, looks good, feels good, makes sense or simply is a good choice??
I hate the restriction in general - it shouldn´t be that a problem to simply integrate a "free choice" function into the almighty TW. But hey, you Samsung guys...a 4x4? really?? I even used a 6x7 grid on my S3.
Sorry, perhaps it´s just my mood...

Nice one :good:
hello, its been a lot while since i login and come to xda, im here when i have o2 windows "mobile" 6/6.5, now i am an android user, using sony xperia z with 4.3
enough with introduction, as the title said, i have problem about the google voice (GV for now) and keyboard, im not the same as everybody with missing GVT or wanting to disable it, i actually like it a lot, especially because it support my language (not english).
using voice input is easy:
1. i press the GV icon
2. i talk
3. text coming out, there will be miss typed/heard sentences
4. you know, if the system doubt your speech and want to correct it, you just tap the word with grey underline,it indicating that it have multiple option
5. then you choose the correct sentences
sadly, my step number 4 is a problem, because the correction that pop up to correcting/delete sentences is being blocked by keyboard, that is why i say it also a keyboard problem. so i cannot choose anything from it. and i have this problem since 4.2.2, the first day i upgraded it to 4.3 is okay, but suddenly it happen again. i don't think i will resetting or formatting because i have a lot of app and chat history that i cannot delete
and lastly, what do you called that correction feature? because i search over internet and i cannot find someone with this problem, possibly i don't use the correct keyword.
here is the screenshot and i highlighted the point of this thread with red in case you want to skip reading.

Bump up, so at least more people to see this problem
bump up so more people could see
It's the lmt keyboard listener.. It and all good
I don't know if anyone has heard of this keyboard yet but it's pretty awesome! Sort of like swpye but you can make it super minimal. I found it via drippler, so consider it a double app post of you're looking for new apps for your phone.

Used it a lot and I was impressed with it but Google keyboard is my main preference
If you ever try it out again, I found some tricks!
1. Holding the top row still brings up the numbers and punctuation. You can also get to them by swiping left from the empty space next to m. To get back to letters swipe right.
2. Double spacing by swiping brings up punctuation and you can swipe down over the keyboard to maneuver to which one you want to use.
3. Swiping up from the empty space next to the m will do enter, next line, or search ( whichever is applicable).
4. If you repeat the above but instead hold your finger on the screen for a second longer it will bring up google voice so you can talk instead.
5. By swiping right from the empty space next to z will bring up emojies.
I think the tutorial covers just about the rest. It's all about mastering it.

This is probs better. I came across it while looking for a way to do a single backspace without the spacebar visible but there doesn't seem to be one. I still like the keyboard without the spacebar because there's less chance of accidental mess ups due to the weird placement of the function keys.
