PLEASE HELP ME...IM SO LOST!!
You have some options:
1. Use search function of the board. (recommended)
2. Try to get the answer is the Android porting thread. I suggest to search the thread first (recommended, too)
3. this one

i tried all of that and i get so confused...can someone actually help me?
I'm going to help so many next time you will help yourself and look a little more.
First of all you dont need to flash and thing to run android. It is in beta currently and is ran buy haret which is kinda like a emulator. When you read the link below you will realize that it has all kinds of problems. Those problems are known. There is also a Faq about those problems and what you can do to help solve them.
there are not instructions on how to operate android. By trying this we assume you know a little bit about android.
It looks like you already have the hslp but I am also going to provide a link on how to flash rom's and radio's.

No disrespect ment to you as I do know you have been around for a while. But it seems as though he doesnt have much experience in doing this.
That would seem like its just gunna cause more problems. there is still problems with power management. So its gunna eat away at his battery. This I know because I run android almost full time and thats a risk i'm just willing to deal with.
Secondly it boots right into android no stopping at windows. So if something goes wrong he is stuck. And will have to reflash.
I tried it and couldnt tether and had to go right back. Maybe he doesnt need to tether so it could be fine but I really think he should start off slow.

Why do you want Android on your WM phone???
The builds you downloaded are still windows mobile. You really need to read the htc-Linux thread

all i want is the android app store on my phone...thats it. how do i do that without having to boot it up from my phone through haret.exe?
Android is a completely different operating system than windows mobile. The android app store and the apps will not work in windows mobile!
If you try to install a windows application on linux OS you will fail too.
Everything you need to know is in this post

Please look at dates of threads before you reply to them. This thread is 6 months old. It was made before Android was finished being ported. I'm sure the people in this thread already know about Android.

Hi all,
Hopefully this is something fairly simple to answer, but my dilemma is that I want to flash a different ROM onto my wifi Xoom. I understand the basic process (I flashed the ROM on my old HTC Hero several times), but have been running into trouble on the Xoom and I think it boils down to the fact that Recovery Mode can't mount my SD card. I assume by SD card it means internal storage, but it can't read that or an actual SD card so I'm not sure it matters.
Anyway, after a couple of hours of research, I discovered that the best way to fix this is apparently to re-flash my recovery to version 3.2.0.0 of CWM instead of the 5.8.3.1 the current version of ROM Manager installed. After digging around, I found what I believe is 3.2.0.0, but I can't figure out where to put it so ROM Manager can find it and flash it over the current Recovery image. Also, if anyone has a link to download 3.2.0.0 that they know works, please let me know because I couldn't find a working download link anywhere.
I've also looked into doing it through Fastboot, but can't exactly figure out how to do that, either. I downloaded the fastboot.exe application and installed the Android SDK, but it tells me that it can't start because AdbWinApi.dll is missing. Being a non-developer type, I have no idea where this is supposed to come from, how I should install it, and if there's any other steps I'm missing.
So if anybody can help me out with either of these (preferably using the older version of CMW), that'd be great, but if anyone has an even easier way to do it, please share by all means. I know what I'm doing once I get to the point of installing the new ROM and Gapps, I just need my Xoom to be able to find them first.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help out!

The tablet that I am dealing with is a "Cruz Velocity Mini Tablet" running android 2.0 and no means of installing apk's.
Currently this is the situation:
A friend of mine lent me her Chinese reader tablet.
I told her that I could probably flash a newer version of Android on it, thinking that I could finally try my hand at making a ROM because I know for a fact that there aren't many ROMs if any at all out there for a chinese off brand reader like this.
After rooting the tablet I deleted the pre installed bloatware via ADB commands (shell) including a file manager (Astro) that I believe was the only way that you could browse files on the tablet, as well as some other pre installed applications that must have been necessary in retrospect. There is no existing vending capability or market application.
I am looking to make a custom ROM (Using android Kitchen and Cywign) through following this tutorial by lokeshsaini94 yet I feel like following that tutorial won't even get me where I need to be.

Things that I have tried at this point include:
Attempting to connect the tablet to my computer with the SD inserted (with and without debugging turned on) [Failed to show up on my computer as a device or anything]
Downloading the APK that I need from a file sharing website [Downloads fail]
Uploading the APK that I need to my Google drive and downloading it from the tablet [Says waiting for data connection and doesn't download even though connected to our WiFi]
Inserting the SD card into my computer, copying the APK I need over to it, then inserting the SD card back into the tablet, going into the browser and typing "File:///sdcard/<name here>.apk" to install an APK but getting an error in the installer after pushing 'install' -> 'Application not installed'
Trying to perform a factory reset; this simply makes the tablet reboot with everything the same as it was before.
Essentially guys and gals, my tablet here is running Android 2.0, I want to update it by making my own rom for it to something at least >4.0, and it seems that I've made things worse and have no way out of this mess. I think I've essentially bricked it even though it still works. :silly:
What do I need to do to make a custom ROM let alone flash/wipe this tablet?
All help will be incredibly valuable
There should be plenty of info here http://www.slatedroid.com/forum/93-velocity-micro-cruz-reader/ to get you on the right track. Not likely you'd be able to get anything beyond Gingerbread on there running due to lack of source code. Your only hope would be to see if there is a newer tablet with the same chipset that has something newer on it to port over.
Still no paddles

Thank you very much for your response. It looks like on that website I've already found multiple useful roms!
In fact I already downloaded one and put it onto the SD card. Apparently for these tablets you're supposed to, while powered off, turn it back on by holding the power button and the volume up button but all this seems to do as a whole load of nothing.
I fear that what I've done to it by deleting potentially sensitive programs previously, I have somehow managed to make this process impossible.
Is there some kind of way that I can plug this tablet into my computer and be able to completely wipe it so I can, at the very least, have a functional tablet that will work at all? I've done approximately 5 factory data resets yet the background image that my friend has on the tablet as well as seemingly every single setting and application is remaining untouched..
Try the ones here that also install a custom recovery: http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/33586-a-clockworkmod-rom-compendium-for-the-cruz-reader/
You'll want to make sure and rename the file exactly as mentioned there on the OP. Install instructions are included too. I don't think there is a way to reload via the PC. The right zip should get everything working properly.
Hi all,
to make it plain and short: I messed up.
I have a GT-S5830i which I unrooted according to the Sticky Note in the forum, installed CWM Recovery and then 'installed from ZIP' a CM9_cooperve_Beta_05.zip that I found in one of the posts in the forum. The installation went on without error message but since then the phone does not make it beyond the initial screen "Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i". I can start recovery mode and Download mode. In reovery mode I can format cache, data, sdcard, sd-ext but *not* system. Error Message: "E: format_volume: make_ext4fs failed on /dev/block/st19"
I have tried already several methods according to the forum, e.g.
1) 'install from ZIP' older Cyanogenmod
2) the tool ext4_formatter.zip
3) re-flash with ODIN with several tar-ROMs, all failed. Odin finds the phone (since I start Odin as Admin now), but after I hit 'start' it tries to establish a connection to the phone and ends after a while with 'Failed'
I'm basically lost now, don't know what else to do. Any advise is appreciated (it's my mom's phone, she is getting impatient )
Thx, cheers!
Xala
Hi @xalarsk , So you can't format your /system partition , which is required for installation of your rom ,, you need to try this method from here mate . Follow my instruction from the line @post#4 :"1. Download one of the newest ,,," to the end of the post and please do not use CM9 beta , because it is unstable and will wreak havoc with your system eventually . ( either cm7 or cm11 is the place you should go for CyanogenMod experience for cooperVe device ).
If you fail at any level please give us your logcat ( error massage ) for better support for your Odin process you mentioned .
Cygwin not working
Hi @ehsanotaku,
thank you for your quick reply, it's appreciated!
Unfortunately I couldn't get cygwin to install all necessary packets. The ZIP-test always failed. I have a Linux system running (Linux Mint 17) though, and hope that might help. In the meantime I tried to download the already split packages as described in another of your forum posts, but the website provides only exe-files instead of zip-files. Is there another location to download them?
#UPDATE: It seems there is a SplitFUS2 version for linux somewhere but couldn't find links to download. Anybody can help? I'll also PM Doky73
Cheers, Holger

Cygwin was meant for windows platform to get the native Linux environment/command line you already got there . You can create a virtual instance of the windows 7 inside virtualbox or any kind of apps you are preferring such as Vmware/Parallel etc etc to get the job done .
Splitfus2 only supports windows platform as far as i know mate,,, either vitalization as i said or the pre-made zip package ( which is clearly not .exe file ,, push the download now and get yourself a descent downland manager,, tested and zip packaged delivered ) from here is the feasible approach for your problem .
Ok, had all the files ready, just the Boot loader <DefaultCalDataWithBoot_S5830iXXLB1_REV00.tar.rar seems to be broken. I downloaded the link provided in your post #8 several times with several download managers, also uses 7-zip and several online unrar services..result always the same: The archive is broken. Is that possible? Would you mind to check yourself?

Another fellow had similar issue with my attachment that was corrected here @ post#27
Unbricked, SD card not recognized
Update: Phone has been unbricked, many thanks for that!
Currently I have still issues with the external SD card, which also holds the ZIP files. Phone won't recognize it, not even format it properly. Still working on that.

Mostly this happened because of the bug inside CM9 beta you used . Study this topic mate i troubleshooted while ago for a sample of the symptoms external SD card would show after unstable ICS usage .
Also as an alternative to the method i instructed there , you can format/Re-partition your SD card by putting it inside card reader and using app such as free MiniTool Partition Wizard "Gparted" tool for Linux users Or "iPartiton" for Mac users etc etc ,, to get the job done . You can find several tutorials inside XDA for this matter mate.
Phone works with CM7.2, can I upgrade to CM9?
Hi again,
first of all, props to @ehsanotaku, I will hit the 'Thanks' buttons.
Now, this is a bit beyond the topic, but I'd like to ask anyway for recommendations of CM9 roms. The one I picked from a post inside this forum bricked my phone and made me start this thread, I don't want to go down this road again. So I'd be glad for any recommendation of a stable ROM that will put my phone beyond Android 4.0.
Cheers again,
Xala
So i have a similar issue. I used to have CM11 installed, but i figured thats too slow for me. Then i went back to stock rom (XXMJ2) which works fine. But now i have a problem.
Everytime i want to flash a stock based or cm7 based rom on my phone, it gets messed up. Today i wanted to flash this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-ace/s5830i-develop/cm-7-2-kitkat-smart-r2-t3075267
i naturally downloaded clockwork mod recovery (5.0.2.6) and tried to flash it. Flashing was done pretty quickly (10 seconds or so) and when i rebooted, i obviously got stuck at sammy logo. Now booting back to the recovery (first e3 then cwm) i got bunch of error about partritions not being able to be mounted (happens the same if i want to manually mout them or format them)...
So, what to do ?
I have a suspicion, that flashing CM11 and the latest cwm recovery for it somehow messed up partritions.

ok not going to excruciating details of symptoms and explaining all of your errors for now just please read my advice @ post2 of this topic and follow the procedures accordingly and finished it with formatter tools and cm7 instructions you will find there ., after that you can install Kitkat Smart R2 like you are coming from another CM7 build instruction . btw some problem regarding super user privileges and play store 492-498 infamous bug was reported for this fairly new development .
Hi,
Ok, so... I think this is going to be more a guide than a question, but I guess it might come in handy for those after me.
I've a Huawei P9 (EVA-L09) which had some photos deleted. Then, I also wiped the whole system via factory reset. Is there any reasonable way to recover said photos?
I've been reading and trying a few things all week. A few of the unsuccessful solutions & problems I've ran into:
One possible approach is to connect the phone as a USB mass storage device to the PC. Then, any recover software on your PC (e.g.: recuva) can see the device as a drive letter (C:\, D:\, E:\, F:\...) and try to undelete the pictures. I tried this, but the USB mass storage connection option is not there anymore. Seems like Android 7.0 doesn't include it at all. I've rooted the phone. Couldn't make this mass storage thing to work in any way.
For USB mass storage, I even tried UMS Enabler. Didn't work on my device: "Device Not Supported - No Memory Card support or VoId Blocks found.!"
Of course, I also tried the classic Android recovery apps like:
Asoftech Data Recovery
EaseUS MobiSaver for Android
FonePaw Android Data Recovery
Yolisoft Android Data Recovery (this one was detected as some kind of malware by my AV software, so I didn't even run it)
None of them worked/found anything. Only #3 really worked (the others didn't detect the device or didn't accept it as rooted) and didn't really seem to scan the whole partition. It just tried to find deleted pics on the current Android instance after 10 seconds of searching (there's no way to know what's under the hood).
Then, I tried the weird method of "copy your whole partition to your PC as an image and run the recovery software on the image". (link 1, link 2, link 3 (last section). Update: Link 4 (better explained)). Couldn't really make it work. The tutorials are a bit confusing and some of the commands simply don't work/aren't available. Link 1 explains that this method doesn't work anymore on newer phones (Android >4.3)
So... Any help here? Does anyone know of a proper method to recover deleted stuff from an Android phone once it's been wiped? I'm very happy to test any new reasonable methods and report my findings
